Quintanilla, Santolino, Caimi, Barreda y Pedrero entre los destacados de la lista de inscritos del Andalucía Rally en motos
Después de recibir ayer la lista de participantes del Andalucía Rally en autos y SSV, la organización liberó la lista de 80 pilotos de motos que se harán presentes en España durante la próxima semana. Destacan Joan Barreda Bort, Pablo Quintanilla, Lorenzo Santolino, Franco Caimi y Joan Pedrero además de otros candidatos.
Quintanilla, que hace un par de semanas anunció su salida de Rockstar Husqvarna, debiera hacer su debut por una nueva marca, pero juega al misterio en la lista de inscritos y no aparece ni equipo ni marca de motos asignada aún. Veremos si se alcanza a hacer un anuncio, o en que formato compite Pablo en esta carrera.
En una Honda, estará presente Joan Barreda Bort, que buscará llevarse la victoria en casa.
Los equipos que han respondido a la llamada de David Castera en este evento fuera de todo campeonato para las motos han sido Sherco y Hero. Sherco montará al local Lorenzo Santolino, podio en este rally el año pasado, y al joven Rui Goncalves buscando la gloria en los caminos españoles. Hero, por su parte, tendrá a sus tres pilotos estrella: El argentino Franco Caimi, en su primera carrera junto a esta estructura de la marca india junto a los portugueses Sebastian Buhler y Joaquim Rodrigues.
El local Joan Pedrero correrá con nuevos colores al sumar un nuevo sponsor principal, Shad, para la Rieju.
Jan Brabec y Jacopo Cerutti habituales de las carreras europeas, también estarán presentes en Andalucía. También dirá presente el mexicano Juan Pablo Guillen, regresando a la actividad después del Dakar.
El Andalucía Rally comienza el próximo 12 de mayo con un prólogo para luego realizar cuatro etapas que totalizarán casi 1.000 kilómetros cronometrados.

Franco Caimi se integra a Hero Motosports
El piloto mendocino Franco Caimi no ha tardado en encontrar una nueva casa en el Rally Cross Country. Hoy, la marca india Hero ha anunciado que Caimi se convierte en su nuevo piloto, integrándose a un equipo que cuenta con Joaquim Rodrigues, Sebastian Buhler y CS Santosh. Caimi había anunciado hace un par de semanas su salida del equipo Yamaha oficial.
Caimi, proveniente del Enduro, tiene seis medallas de oro en los International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) además de tres títulos nacionales en Argentina y tres títulos nacionales en Chile. En el Dakar, llegó con alto impacto en 2017 cuando obtuvo un octavo puesto con Honda South America. Esto le valió la contratación por parte de Yamaha, donde repitió su mejor resultado en el Dakar en 2020 nuevamente octavo y mejor clasificado del equipo oficial.
Hero tuvo un prometedor Dakar 2021, con Joaquim Rodrigues arañando el Top 10 con una 11° posición y Sebastian Buhler finalizando 14°. Ambos pilotos vienen de hacer un 1-2 en el Mundial de Bajas FIM 2020, con Buhler alzándose con el título.
La primera carrera de Franco Caimi con Hero Motosports será el Andalucía Rally en mayo.

Estoy muy emocionado de unirme al equipo y les agradezco por otorgar su confianza en mis habilidades. Es un momento crucial para el equipo en este momento mientras entrenamos y nos preparamos para la próxima carrera. Tuve ya una sesión de entrenamiento muy productiva con Joaquim y Sebastian y ahora estamos esperando ansiosos por las carreras". comentó Franco Caimi, nuevo integrante de la familia Hero.
“Estamos emocionados de iniciar la campaña 'Road to Dakar 2022' con una fuerte incorporación a nuestro equipo. Dentro de un corto período de tiempo, Hero MotoSports Team Rally ha creado una posición diferenciada para sí mismo y nos complace atraer a pilotos talentosos como Franco. Definitivamente es un gran impulso para nosotros. Estoy confiado en que la rica experiencia de Franco y su récord constante en el Dakar nos ayudarán a mejorar nuestra preparación y competitividad. El Andalucía Rally se disputará entre el 11 y el 16 de mayo en Villamartín, España.
