I would definitely recommend checking out Henry Hatsworth if you ever find the time! It's woefully obscure but every facet of it oozes with charm and character, with Lady D and Lance Banson in particular being highlights (aside from Weasleby himself of course)... though I'd maybe check out a walkthrough or an "all bosses" video since the game itself is notoriously difficult ^^;
we love a woefully obscure game around these parts!!! i've just been watching some of the gameplay and aww it is so sweet 🥺💖 thank you so much for the warning as well - i am Not A Good Gamer and this would make me rage quit so fast 🙈🙈🙈

You do a lot of fanart so question: Anything you're a fan of you haven't done fanart of?
That's a good question. For as much fanart as I do, truth is almost a half of a life doing nothing but commissions and work has left me with very little time to do things for fun, so I don't have a lot of things I'd say I'm a fan of... Most of my fanart is driven by the feeling I have a twist to give it, so sometimes things I like I just don't feel like I have something to say about it, and other times I draw things I am not a fan of because I feel I can give it an interesting twist. That said, let me see if I can think of something:
😼I'd like to do some art of Cool Cat (I like trainwrecks) 🍓I want to try to redesign Skysoar from the Sonichu comics, although drawing anything Sonichu related comes with some baggage no matter what you think about the whole Chris Chan phenomena. 👹I want to redesign monsters from Palworld! So many of them have something I can feel I can work with but are stuck in 'we frankestein-ed pokemon together' hell. 🧩There's this DS Game I've been playing in my effort to become less of a hopeless workaholic called 'Henry Hatsworth in the puzzling adventure' and I might draw something about it. There is some toxic old man yaoi going on there~ 👾Digimon has a lot of fun designs and I should totally draw for it, too! Also Myotismon 😳 🎶Everybody should have their own version of Miku~ 🍴I like the Promised Neverland, but it does not have a lot of things I LIKE to draw in it (even if it is a gorgeous manga). Krone tho. I love Krone. She was fun and powerful and tragic. 🐈Mewgenics, definitely! This one is a weird one because I am part of the development team as an artist, but there's things I want to draw but am waiting for the game to release. I don't want to mix my own takes with the actual work and create weird expectations. Also spoilers. 👽I have drawn some Alien 9 fanart but I do want to draw more 🐶This is for other artist but something involving CanisAlbus' gay tragic dogs would be nice~ There's even other artists whose OCs I like a lot lately I'd love to try my hand on.

I will never stop DS posting. Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure should be taught in game design classes. Absurd genre crossovers should be the fucking norm. Rarely have I ever seen a game so fully commit to the bit of being stupid. Everything from the OST to the best in class sprite art sells the idea that this game is fucking stupid and having a wonderful time being stupid.

Chase Koeneke’s Top 25 DS Games
The DS was a fascinating system. It was the first salvo in Nintendo’s pivot to more innovative and oddball gaming, priming an audience for the Wii console that was about to come. It was easy to laugh at this thing. How the hell were you supposed to pay attention to two screens at once? And yet, developers found interesting new ways of using the dual screens to create a slate of awesome and original titles. I haven’t played every DS game. Hell, I haven’t even played all the ones I’ve wanted to (like The World Ends With You or Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story), but here is a list of my 25 favorite DS games. If you don’t see one of your favorites listed, let me know. I could always use another game to add to my never-ending backlog. 1. Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Tumblr media
I may be president of the Fire Emblem fan club these days, but back in the DS era, it was all Advance Wars, all the time. And Dual Strike represented the peak of the series, even if it may have gotten a little too complex for its own good. The dual front mechanics and new units types felt mostly superfluous, but the online play is what made this game truly special in its day. It’d be great to see Intelligent Systems come back to this series one day.
2. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Tumblr media
I love to tinker. I love to grind. I love job systems with lots of unique skills. Dragon Quest IX has all that and much more. While some may not enjoy the blank slate party you’re given, I loved building a completely customized team. The main campaign is extremely meaty (HowLongToBeat clocks it in at 48.5 hours), but the amount of endgame content is truly staggering. With proto-StreetPass and SpotPass functionality, the game felt truly limitless (for comparison, HowLongToBeat says a “completionist” playthrough balloons up to 752 hours!)
3. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver
Tumblr media
Nostalgia keeps the original Red & Blue as my favorites of the series, but if I’m being honest with myself, these are the best Pokemon games ever made. These remakes smoothed out the few rough edges from Johto and added in the modern functionality from Diamond & Pearl (like the Global Trade System). This double-long Pokemon adventure is one of the best, with expressive new sprite work and a remastered soundtrack.
4. Monster Tale
Tumblr media
Don’t be discouraged if you’ve never heard of Monster Tale. No one has. It came out late in the DS lifecycle (like, five days before the 3DS launched), so it very quickly was buried in the mix. And that’s a shame because it’s one of the best DS games ever made. Developed by the makers of Henry Hatsworth (#19 on my list), Monster Tale makes great use of the two-screen concept, having a Metroidvania brawler on the top screen and a virtual pet simulator on the bottom. The two games worked in tandem as your pet could come up to the top screen to help solve puzzles or battle enemies. An excellent aesthetic and tight controls make this one of the best games you’ve never played.
5. Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2
Tumblr media
Speaking of games you’ve never played, what is a licensed anime game doing in my top five? It’s here because it’s actually a really great RPG. You get access to a large cast of unique characters and arrange them on a 3x4 grid for surprisingly tactical combat. You may rub a hole into your DS’ bottom screen with the game’s poor special attack quick-time events, but if you can get past that, it’s a real gem. I wrote more on this series back in an old GOTG SP if you like what you’ve heard.
6. Mario Kart DS
Tumblr media
This is the best Mario Kart game, don’t let anyone tell you different. No silly gimmicks like two people on a cart or motorcycles or anti-gravity: Just good, tight racing action. A bevy of great new courses (like the incomparable Tick-Tock Clock) and retro tracks (Moo Moo Farm, Choco Mountain, Donut Plains 1) complete the package. There are plenty of other good Mario games, but this one’s the best.
7. Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Tumblr media
Look, I’d be lying if I said this game was as good as the ones on the Game Boy Advance, but I love Golden Sun with all my heart and this entry does have some cool ideas. Lots of cool characters, some amazing summons and a very useful encyclopedia that can be accessed within the natural dialogue of the story: There’s good stuff here. The graphics may not be great and the game may be too easy, but I enjoyed my time with it, even if I was mostly reminiscing about the GBA games.
8. Final Fantasy III
Tumblr media
I’ve mentioned it on a number of shows and in some of these GOTG posts, but I just don’t enjoy Final Fantasy’s Active Time Battle (ATB) system. I like my RPGs strictly turn-based. And Final Fantasy III is that. While not the strongest game in the series by any stretch, it does have a fairly robust job system that I appreciate, and the updated 3D graphics were great for the time (and led to a beautiful, yet too difficult version of Final Fantasy IV not much later).
9. Picross 3D
Tumblr media
I love Picross. I’ve written about it here before. But Picross 3D changed the game, literally. That extra dimension made for much more interesting puzzle mechanics as you strategically chipped away blocks to reveal the figure within. So charming, so fun and occasionally, so challenging. I’m glad a 3DS sequel was eventually made, but this original is still the one to play.
10. Meteos
Tumblr media
My very first DS game, Meteos immediately showed me how the DS era was going to be different, both in design and input. In this puzzle game, you’d need to skillfully use the touchscreen to line up blocks and bury your opponents while monitoring their progress on the top screen. Each planet you played on had a particular quirk to it, keeping things fresh as you matched and rocketed your way to victory. Extremely fun and a sign of the innovation to come.
11. Animal Crossing: Wild World
Tumblr media
12. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Tumblr media
13. Chrono Trigger
Tumblr media
14. Metroid Prime Hunters
Tumblr media
15. Retro Game Challenge
Tumblr media
16. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Tumblr media
17. Pokemon Conquest
Tumblr media
18. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Tumblr media
19. Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
Tumblr media
20. New Super Mario Bros.
Tumblr media
21. Pokemon Black/White
Tumblr media
22. Space Invaders Extreme
Tumblr media
23. Advance Wars Days of Ruin

24. Kirby: Canvas Curse

Hi! I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the Hooded Claw from The Perils of Penelope Pitstop or Leopold Charles Anthony Weasleby the Third from Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure!! Both hit that niche of dastardly, scheming villain that I think might be up your alley ^^
hello there lovely!!! are you having a nice day? 🥰💖 OOOH new silly villains to gawk at, thank you so much!! what a wonderful present to receive 💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ohoho...hello handsome 👉👈 my dear friend, you must've crawled into my brain to know this is the kind of villain i love unreservedly...wow he's cute!!! 🙈💖 Sylvester Sneekly/The Hooded Claw isn't a character i'm familiar with (vaguest memories of Wacky Races and never saw The Perils of Penelope Pitstop), but oooh, he's nasty!!!! 🥴💖
imagine being so terrible that you continually try to murder a young woman in your charge just to get her money...he's giving Edgar Balthazar from The Aristocats vibes, and it's magnificent!! the voice and the mannerisms are deliciously evil, he's serving cunt in all of his outfits, and i'm loving the master of disguise deal he's got going on 😖💖 thank you so much for telling me about this guy, i'm definitely going to look more into him 😉
Tumblr media
now OP, between the Hooded Claw and this Leopold Weasleby the Third fellow...do you think you might have a type? 😂💖 i was actually having a little trouble finding out a lot about this guy, but i must say he is tremendously dashing!!! he's got that Mad Mod look with the cravat and the diamond-topped cane 🥴💖 am i right in understanding that this is actually the robotic disguise of a character named Cole? has he adopted other names? i would love to know more about this universe!! Henry Hatsworth In the Puzzling Adventure looks like loads of fun...and we stan a niche villain 'round these parts 🙏 thank you for these fantastic submissions, and your absolutely stellar taste!! i can't wait to learn more 👀

Game review monster tale
Hello, im vikolai, and welcome to my review on the obscure game that I played during my childhood monster tale for the Nintendo ds. Released in the year 2011 monster tale is created by the dev team, dream rift the guys who made such games like...that one epic Mickey game for the 3ds and also another obscure game known as henry hatsworth in the puzzling adventures.
The plot of this game is simple once upon a time there was a world of monster and an ancient prophecy that tells that world of monster would succumb to tyranny and a hero would from a faraway land shall, come to liberate the monsters from the evil tyrants. Ellie, a young school heard a noise outside of her home and find a strange armband which sent her to the world of monster there she meets a baby monster which she names chomp, and later on, Ellie learned that she was not the only one who sent to this world other kids like her were sent to this world but they became the prophesied tyrants, by a merchant named jynx and so Ellie and chomp went off to there adventure on saving the monster world from the kid kings, return chomp to his parents and return home.
The gameplay of monster tale is a 2d Metroidvania with some Tomodachi elements you jump, shoot with your armband, and attack them with Ellie's bag, throughout the game on, you can unlock new moves, combos and also passive skills for Ellie and chomp and here comes the Tomodachi. the main gimmick, chomp despite being a baby chomp can fight alongside you as you start your adventure and you can level him up by feeding him food, give him some toys and finally fight enemies as time goes on chomp will end up aging he starts as an infant, adolescent, a teen, and to an adult, each of them gives chomp different abilities to help and each item you give chomp the more forms and abilities he can unlock. You can get theses items by defeating enemies or buying them from the merchant/freedom fighter jynx, Speaking of forms there's an elemental system, later on, after you beat your first boss you gain the elemental system where each enemy, has there own color and each element is weak against the other which apply to chomp, as I said before depending on what food and toys you give him it will affect on what form chomp will take when he levels up but despite all that chomp can also be used for puzzle solving such activating platforms and certain devices that can help your character progress.
The graphics of this game is pretty good for ds standards I enjoy the pixel art and also how expressive the characters can be in spirit form, the same thing for the ost.
Despite personally how much I enjoy the shit out of this game it doesn't mean it has flaws number one the currency the game doesn't give that much money which resulted in grinding a lot so you can have enough money to progress through the game I'm not joking there's literally a point where you have to pay for jynx so he can aid you to progress the game, another flaw is the backtracking there's a lot of backtracking and I mean a lot of backtracking you and there is no fast travel which means you have to go ALL out to one kingdom to the next kingdom another flaw..ok nick depends you see it pick is the difficulty spike at the near the end, Jesus Christ on a pike I died so many times on that to this day I can't beat it that hard or maybe I just suck idk. The next problem...ok not a problem more nitpick is the characters especially the kid kings each king has there own reason stay here but I wanted to know more about the kid kings there releationship with there other kings and there monsters or with ellie the final flaw is there is a lack of characters in this game the characters we see is ellie, chomp, and the kid kings nothing more and nothing less i wish there's small villages or towns and npcs that kinda showscase that world is alive hell make it suggest that we see some characters being subugated and being enslaved by the kid kings
Overall the game is a really good game its not perfect but it is a good metroidvania its kinda sad that we see this game being forever locked in obsureity never to see the light of day i rate this game 8.9/10

Day 11: Puzzle game music
Alright so Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure is a puzzle platformer hybrid (because you have to swap between a platformer and a puzzle game midstage not because the platforming is a puzzle like say Braid), and it's also a game I never would have even heard of if the soundtrack wasn't made free to download at time of its release. I can't speak to the game's quality, but the soundtrack is pretty good.
