Fun fact: America made a super-heavy tank once. I have an explanation (not a professional when it comes to tanks; take with a grain of salt) but it is long, so I'm putting a page break here

It was called the T28 super-heavy tank, (not to be confused with the Russian T-28, a multi-turreted medium tank) originally called the T95 Gun Motor Carriage, (due to the lack of a turret) it was renamed due to American doctrine at the time dictating that GMCs where fast and light. It was an assault gun, with a casemate design (no turret, the gun is installed directly into the hull giving a low profile, but making casemates incapable of facing their armaments to their side) it was intended to break through heavy fortifications. (as is the intended role of assault guns) It had a 105 mm diameter gun and it's front plate was was just over 300 mm thick, it weighed just over 86 metric tons but only had a 500 horsepower engine (to put that into perspective, the Soviet T-34 medium tank, which originally weight 26 tons, although the later T-34-85 variant weight 32 tons, also had an engine with only 500 hp) resulting in a top speed of an abysmal 13 km/h, 7 km/h slower than the heaviest tank ever built (The Panzer VIII "Maus" weighing 188 metric tons) two prototypes of the T28 super-heavy tank were built, one of them was scrapped after catching on fire, the other was somehow lost behind a bush for 27 years before being placed on display in a museum. As of writing this on 27/08/23 , it is currently on display at Patton Park, having been transferred there as of 2011.

Lors du redéploiement de la 1ère DCR de Gembloux (bataille de Gembloux) vers Flavion pour arrêter la progression des forces blindées allemandes, le char B1 bis VAR tombe en panne près d'Ermeton-sur-Biert le 14 mai 1940 à hauteur du pont de chemin de fer, à la sortie du village et est abandonné par son équipage. Des soldats allemands ont essayé de le faire repartir, mais sans système de direction, au premier virage venu, le char s'est encastré dans une maison d'Ermeton.

Equipage du char B1 bis VAR perçu par la 2e Compagnie du 37e BCC à Mourmelon le 17 décembre 1939.
