Frukostdags (1887) by Hanna Hirsch Pauli
At the end of the 19th century, the number of women who chose the artist career was increasing. An important reason for this was that the artist courses were also opened to women. One of the most prominent of the generation that broke through in the 1880s was Hanna Pauli, née Hirsch. She studied at August Malmström's Painting School for Women and at the Art Academy in Stockholm and then at the Académie Colarossi in Paris.
The painting Breakfast Time was created in the Stockholm archipelago in the summer of 1887, shortly before Hanna Hirsch married the painter Georg Pauli. The painting's motif has a number of counterparts in Nordic and French art from the latter part of the 19th century. The elaborate meal, inside a dining room or out in the open, was depicted by several of the French Impressionists, as well as by Scandinavians such as Carl Larsson, Peder Severin Krøyer and Laurits Andersen Ring. Hanna Pauli has concentrated above all on the depiction of light, and has put a lot of effort into reproducing how the light falls through the foliage of the trees and creates a lively shimmer in the tablecloth and on the ground. The reflections in cups, dishes, coffee pots and glass bowls are reproduced with great accuracy.
Like most Nordic artists during the 1880s, Hanna Pauli was mainly influenced by the French realists. However, the free style of painting in Breakfast Time suggests that she was also inspired by the Impressionists. When the painting was shown at an exhibition in Stockholm, it received a mixed reception in the press. One of the most critical reviewers noted that the cloth on the table was not completely white, but looked as if some children had wiped their dirty hands on it. -- Nationalmuseum

Hanna Hirsch-Pauli (1864-1940) Sweden
Hirsch trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts under August Malmström – a professor there from 1867 to 1894 and director from 1887 to 1893. At the academy she met future portrait painter Eva Bonnier, seven years her elder.
The two met again in Paris, in the Académie Colarossi, and became housemates. Hirsch stayed in the French capital from 1885 to 1887; her portrait of her Finnish friend and fellow student Wendla lrene Soldan Brofeldt, more commonly known as Venny Soldan, was accepted at the 1887 Salon (The Artist Venny Soldan-Brofeldt, 1886-87)
Most of the young artists enrolled at the Académie Colarossi or the Académie Julian at this time, when the avant-garde was breaking away from academic painting, steered a middle path between the two.
The majority, like Hirsch, were more inclined toward naturalism, admiring painters such as Jules Bastien-Lepage or Jules Breton.   https://awarewomenartists.com/en/artiste/hanna-hirsch-pauli/
