By • Olalekan Fagbade Ten gunmen killed by Policeman in shootout, rescue 39 Kidnap Victim The Bauchi Police Command, on Saturday, said its operatives have neutralised about 10 suspected kidnappers/bandits at Jan-Dutse situated in Yankari Forest and thereafter rescued 39 kidnap victims. The kidnap victims consisting of 28 adult males, eight adult females, and three infants were rescued unhurt and subsequently reunited with their respective families after a medical check-up at the General Hospital in Alkaleri local government area of the State. According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, he said on the September 15, 2023, the Police Command’s Operation Sharan Daji team in conjunction with relevant stakeholders (Hunters) led by CSP Makama Magaji acted on credible intelligence and swiftly ransacked a suspected kidnapper’s enclave and engaged the culprits in a heavy gun battle. He said the Police consequently emerged victorious as a result of superior firepower against the criminals, leading to the death of 10 criminals while others ran into different directions with bullet wounds. The rescued kidnap victims are; Muhammadu Sardauna of Sabon Layi; Meshack Isyaku of Kafi; Mustapha Muhammadu of Sabon Jiri; Marafa Kasu of Gargankufai; Sale Dan Asabe of Badakoshin Pali; Alh Amadu Hassan of Sabon Layi; Saddik Isa of Sabon-Jiri; Mannirul Hassan of Kafi; Aminu Alhaji Baushe of Anguwan Gyero; Rabiu Adamu of Alkaleri; Yahaya Abubakar of Alkaleri; Hamisu Hashim of Gaji Gamu, and Muhammadu Bello of Anguwan Gyero. Others are Babangida Makeri of Badakoshi; Yunusa Adamu of Kwalele; Galadima Iliyasu of Tollon; Isa Dan-Biran of Tollon; Hashimu Sarkin Busa of Tollon; Muhammadu Shuaibu of Dan; Kalik Dahiru of Dagudi; Aliyu Yakubu of Gaji; Alhaji Kamilu of Unguwan Gyero; Ahmadu Yari of Duguri; Mohammad Ali of Dan; Dan Lami Samaila of Dan; Rabiu Barde of Sabon-Jiri; Yakubu Muhammad of Gaji, and Yakubu Musa of Mun. While the rescued female victims are Khadija Abbas of Gaji; Usaina Muhammadu Sani of Duguri; Rose Bulus of Duguri; Hakuda Adamu of Gaji; Shamsiya Abdulhakim of Duguri; Fatima Sunusi of Duguri; Maimuna Iliyasu of Duguri as well as Aisha Yusuf of Gaji. He added the the kidnappers demanded the sum of N50 million from each of the victim as a ransom before the successful rescue operation by the “Operation Sharan Daji” which put all their plans in futility. While commending the operatives for their gallantry, as well as selfless service to the nation and humanity, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, has reassured the citizens of the State that the war against crimes and criminality will soon be won. The CP called for continuous support for the police and other law enforcement agencies, promising that the security agencies will not rest on their oars until normalcy is restored in every part of the State.

Fresh Attack: 1 Herdsman, 15 Cows Killed By Gunmen In Plateau

The Police on Tuesday confirmed that unknown gunmen killed a Fulani herdsman and 15 cows at Rafin-Bauna community of Iregwe land in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau. Terna Tyopev, the spokesman of the Police Command in the state told the press in Jos that the incident happened at about 5:30 p.m on Monday. Tyopev said that two Iregwe youths were on Monday also attacked and severely injured at about 6 pm while returning from a mining site at Gyero community “At about 17:30hrs we received information that a Fulani man was killed and 15 of his cows slaughtered by gunmen suspected to be Iregwe people at Rafin-Bauna village of Bassa Local Government. “We are yet to ascertain the name and address of the slain victim. “Similarly, two Iregwe youths while returning from a mining site at Gyero were attacked by armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, and as a result sustained various degree of injuries,” he said. The spokesman said the two injured youths were receiving treatment at Enos Hospital, Miango. Tyopev said investigation was ongoing to unravel those behind the acts. Read the full article
