Hedy Lamarr in the 1933 erotic drama "Ekstase", the first film to be banned from entering the United States by US Customs on grounds of 'indecency'. It was considered artsy by some, and condemned by multiple countries and organizations, including Pope Pius XXI and his Vatican, and Hitler's Germany. Lamarr insisted she was tricked by director Gustav Machaty, who assured her that "long shots" would obscure her nude scenes.
