The tactician allowed for a quiet sigh to leave his lips.
“Tharja, you’ve been standing there for nearly the past twenty minutes. I could see you in my peripherals,”
Robin frowns at the dark mage, not exactly understanding why she feels the need to constantly stalk him, or why she seems to have some unhealthy obsession with him, but knowing he found her habits to be quite...unsettling. If the feeling of always being followed didn’t get under his skin enough, then maybe the fact that the dark-haired female sometimes didn’t even bother to hide herself when she observed him did. In fact, it made his skin crawl, and freaked him out beyond belief at first. And while he still finds the stalking unnerving, and flat-out weird, he at least can say he knows Tharja does not do it with malicious intent--or, at least, that is the conclusion he chooses to believe to ease his own nerves about this situation. For the idea that the woman is stalking his every movement only in hopes of offing him in his sleep one night? While unlikely, he hopes for the best for the sole purpose of being able to sleep at night.
Still, though, for as awkward and odd as she came off to him as, the dark mage did seem kind enough, at least to him, Although, he did wonder why the woman seemed so...cold and distant towards the other Shepherds. Did she have problems trusting other people? Part of the man genuinely wanted to befriend her and help her through any problems she may have, but the other just felt so...put off by her behavior around him. After all, is it really the best idea to befriend one’s stalker? Regardless, Robin steps around the female--uttering a polite ‘excuse me’--, before briefly turning his back to her to place the few books in his arms on a near by shelf, looking over his shoulder before speaking.
“...Do you need something? I was just looking through my book and tome collection, so I have some down time if you’re in need of me or anything else.”

ship bias + tharja!
1. Stahl. Rarepair but I love them??? I got them on my very first run which will always make it a soft spot but their supports are really good? Creepy Plegian lady keeps away from the others but good cavalier boy is determined to make friends and make sure she isn't only. They're cute.
2. Robin. Shh. She goes about it completely the wrong way but she really does care and when she is called out on her behaviour, she does try to change... In the wrong ways, but she did attempt to listen. Anyway, I feel they have real potential once Tharja learns to chill.
3. Chrom. I used to joke about this being my guilty pleasure and back in my Chrom's early days, I low key had a game where I'd wait to see when someone would work it out. It literally came from them being my two initial faves and now I'm like wait this could actually work. @nessblessed and I talked about this a long time ago and I know that they at least used to (I'm on mobile so can't check now) have it canon for their Tharja, but having her get very interested in Chrom as well as Robin makes a lot of sense given he decided to trust so seemingly out of the blue when all of his focus was on Emm... Anyway Ness' Tharja is real neat pls love Ness.
4. Libra. Priest and goth girl surprisingly mesh real well and they’ve got opposite aesthetics which is a nice contrast. She builds up her creepy and dark persona, blatantly reveling in it, and then pulls back when she sees some real darkness. There’s a few supports like that, where she shows genuine sympathy for people and proves she’s more than a creepy but pretty goth girl, but ship wise these two both exude a quiet energy and Libra never judges her for her interest in hexes and spells.
5. Frederick. Honestly I don’t have an in depth explanation, their supports just made me laugh and that’s enough for me.

hey tharja . . . what to say something about your dad ? (ifyouhaveonethatis)
Tumblr media
“No. I don’t.” She couldn’t fathom why anyone would care about her personal life. Her father wasn’t anybody particularly interesting, both in the personal and political sense... Though it did occur to her that a reluctance to answer might seem like a response in itself.
“He wasn’t a bad father. If anything, he was mind-numbingly boring, most of the time. Oh, he isn’t dead. That’s not why I’m speaking in past tense.
“I guess he’s what you’d called normal for a father. Put food on the table, tried to make sure I didn’t get into too much trouble without being overbearing. He never understood my magic, but he didn’t get in the way of. Well, when it started.
“Learning spirit channelling whilst I was still living at home was a mistake. I thought it would be a decent idea after my mother died. Makes death less of a big deal, if you can still talk to the dead. Anyway, I managed it once, and he asked me to do it again. And again. And you get the the picture.
“It was irritating. I left after that. The distance did him some good, if his letters are to be trusted. With how often he clung to me to get through to Mother, it was obvious that it was my time to leave.
“He’s not a bad person, he’s just obsessive, and too weak to keep that obsession under control.”

He'd skip the 'being her test subject' today, and forever. "Hey, Tharja" he extended a box to her "Happy birthday. it is your birthday, right?" the box contained cookies baked by Lissa with different shapes, among them what it seems like Tharja's face
Tumblr media
She opened the box and stared at its contents, an expression on her face that may have seemed disdainful to some, but was actually more akin to how she usually appeared. With one hand, Tharja picked up a cookie to inspect it.
“Ylissean sweets?” Far different to what she was used to from home, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to try them at least. Particularly since from what she could tell, cookies were fairly common in the halidom, so they had to be a safe bet. “It is my birthday. But why does this one slightly look like me?”

So... Let’s address something about Tharja. That base-breaking thing about Tharja. Yeah. Her treatment of Noire. That thing. Now before anyone sends me quotes to ‘prove’ the following wrong, this is blog canon and whilst it will relate somewhat to interpretation of supports and the like, it is also a culmination of what I actually want to portray and can see as conceivable for Tharja. It’s not outright canon divergence like with Lilith, but a bit of cherry picking. Oh boy here we go-
Let’s start with future!Tharja. I’m not going to deny anything that she did and how it negatively impacted Noire, but let us remember that we only have the word of her daughter in terms of learning about her nature. Yes, present!Tharja is hardly a saint but she has the potential to become something different.
Tharja’s experimentation on her daughter did not begin until after Grima was resurrected. Whilst she as never a ball of sunshine, Tharja raised Noire (and her sibling, if applicable) to the best of her abilities alongside her duties as a Shepherd. Unfortunately, said duties fell apart with Chrom’s death. The group may have still existed, but it was obvious things were quickly going downhill without their leader and ruler, and that something needed to change.
At first, she was simply doing small scare tests to find something effective against the risen. That would be easy to carry out on subjects. But then people were constantly dying around her, and the war would soon be lost as that rate. As such, Tharja began looking at augmentation hexes and potions, and similar concepts that would help boost their forces. The trouble was finding willing participants, and whilst some could be bought off with coin, Ylisse wasn’t a rich country. Especially not by then.
Eventually, a thought struck Tharja: what was the point in keeping her daughter away from her work, if she’d just end up dying to the Fell Dragon’s forces anyway? It was a difficult decision, but she began testing some of her more beneficial spells on Noire, even though she was but a child.
There wasn’t much harm done at first, apart from the occasional harmless slip up, but as Ylisse gradually lost momentum, the mage decided that she needed to up her game, and started experimenting on Noire with riskier curses. She kept pushing and pushing the boundaries until at some point, in her fatigue and frustration at the world around her, Tharja had forgotten who she was trying to protect.
At the end of her life, the sorceress still dearly loved her daughter, but had lost almost all sense of morality.
Now back to the present day Tharja. Whilst again, she isn’t perfect, she can see what her child could turn out to be. When any temptation comes to mind, all she has to do is remember the harm that may very well have been caused by her future counterpart. Even if she does not know her future, there is a big difference between them:
The present Tharja can see the results of her experiments, whilst still in her right mind.
That’s enough to make her hesitate. On top of that, the world doesn’t reach the same apocalyptic state as in Noire’s childhood: there is less of a sense of desperation. As such, the baby Tharja will one day raise will not be subject to the same abuse as her elder self. She’s seen too much damage, even if she hasn’t confirmed who was responsible.
She may still cast curses on the future!Noire, but in her mind they are harmless little thing - almost like pranks. Tharja has no intention on trying anything more dangerous, nor will even the ‘pranks’ be used on the child she births.

I always thought I was the only person who ships Tharja with Stahl but here Sayl is proving me wrong with the mom call tag and just-
nghhhhhh any ships present on my first file are really precious to me. Stahlja was one of my faves but I don’t talk about it since it didn’t look like anyone else cared about. I just find Stahl going out of his way to try to befriend Tharja because she’s always alone to be absolutely adorable??? Just local nice guy making sure gloomy goth girl everyone avoids isn’t lonely??? Doesn’t matter if she’s got a scary reputation, everyone deserves a friend???
Sayl I hope you know that you opened a floodgate.
