Line Upon Line Lesson 007: Get on the Boat!
Genesis 7:1 - Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”
Many people think God commanded Noah to build the ark solely to save the animals and his own family.  However, this is actually not true.
Let’s read together Ezekiel 14:14-20; Habakkuk 2:4; and Hebrews 11:6-7.
Noah was considered righteous by God because Noah believed in God. Noah demonstrated His faith in God through his obedience to God’s commands. Noah built the ark even though there was no evidence or prior history of floods in the world.
Note that the Bible clearly states Noah could not save anyone else with his righteousness.  This means Noah’s wife, his three sons, and their wives each had an individual faith in God. They also believed in God and were obedient to His words.
Let’s read together Psalm 142:7; Isaiah 42:6-7; 1 Peter 3:18-20; and 2 Peter 2:5.
The Bible described Noah as a preacher of righteousness. God used Noah to deliver a message of repentance. Noah wasn’t just building the ark for one hundred and twenty years. He was warning the entire world about God’s judgment and the impending flood.
Let’s read together Deuteronomy 30:19-20;  Matthew 24:37-39; Luke 17:26-27; and Ephesians 4:17-32.
In essence, Noah’s message was, “Repent now and get on the boat! If you do not, you will be destroyed by the coming flood!  This is the only way you can be saved!”
Unfortunately, no one listened to Noah. Their hearts were so set on sin, the Holy Spirit could not reach them.  God wanted to save them all, but they chose not to be saved.
Let’s read together Acts 4:10-12.
God gives us all the same choice today that He gave the people of the Antediluvian age. Repent now and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. There is no other way to be saved. Will you choose Jesus?

Come Into the Ark
Come Into the Ark
By Adrian Rogers “Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”  Genesis 7:1 In order to be saved from the wrath of God, you have to get on board the good ship of grace. If you don’t get on board, you’re going down. You will not be an unsinkable saint. Read More

for fathers day angeal cant catch a single break. each year zack is glued to angeals side, wont stop calling him dad, and he has gotten angeal a new gift that has had a weirder and cringier quote on it each time. when cloud started getting closer to zack and the firsts, zack roped him into all his weird shenanigans and celebrating (torturing) angeal on fathers day was no exception, so as time went on and angeal acquired cloud as a second son, he also acquired twice as many strange gifts… and twice as much bullying from genesis about angeal being zack and clouds “dad”, which wouldnt be too bad until it was learned that genesis was also helping pick out the worst they could possibly find, because of course if theres a way to (lovingly) make fun of his boyfriend hes going to jump on it immediately. whenever sephiroth gets back from giving hojo his fathers day gift (a brand new stab wound, and a custom card telling him how horrible he is), he cant help but to smile at all the shit thats going down, and the stories of what all transpired up to that moment, between his boyfriends and zack and cloud (who have lovingly adopted angeal as their dad)

Lesson 038: More Righteous?
Genesis 38:26 - So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again.
Genesis chapter 38 tells a rather sordid story about sexual sins.  Judah and Tamar both committed sins in this story, yet Judah called her more righteous than him.  Why did he say that?
Let’s read together Genesis 38:1-11; Deuteronomy 25:5-10; and Numbers 36:7.
In the Old Testament, there was a custom known as levirate marriage.  If a man died childless, it was the duty of an unmarried brother to marry the widow.  The first child they had together would be the legal descendant of the dead man.  The purpose of this custom was to protect family lines and inheritances.
Er married Tamar, but Er died without an heir.  It was Er’s brother Onan’s duty to marry Tamar and have a child who would be considered Er’s legal heir.  Onan took advantage of the situation to have sexual relations with Tamar, but he did not want to provide an heir for Er.  The Lord killed Onan for his disobedience.  Judah promised Tamar she would marry his next son Shelah, but he reneged on his promise.
Let’s read together Genesis 38:12-25; Leviticus 20:14; Leviticus 21:9; Deuteronomy 22:20-22; and John 8:41.
The penalty for adultery in Old Testament times was stoning for both the man and woman.  Burning was the penalty for extreme cases.    Judah in his anger demanded Tamar should be burnt to death because he thought she committed harlotry.  However, Tamar gave proof that Judah was the one who got her pregnant.  Judah had to come clean about lying to Tamar and committing sexual sin.
When Judah said Tamar was more righteous than him, Judah acknowledged his hypocrisy.  They both sinned, but he was the worse sinner.  Judah never had sex with Tamar again after this admission.
Let’s read together Matthew 7:1-2 and Luke 6:41-42.
May we be careful not to judge others and act as hypocrites.

So after Genesis hurt his feelings and helped drive him insane, Sephiroth essentially decided that the final middle finger to his ex would be to completely outdo him in the only remaining area that Gen excelled at. That is, naturally, being the main guy who ruins everyone's day.
Because why be a little shit when you can be THE Little Shit™

Ahem.
And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Why Biblical literalists don't read the Bible's accounts of things side by side.
Let's look at Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 as an example, shall we?
Here we go.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.
So far so good.
When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground—then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the Darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Sea. And God saw that it was good.
And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth." And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.
Where's Adam? God made him before plants. No bush of the field was yet in the land, remember, whether it was a plant that yielded seed or not. Where is Adam?
And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night."
Didn't he already separate the day (the light) from the night (the darkness)?
"And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light upon the earth." And it was so.
Was the light God created way up there in verse 3, the light he called Day... was that not giving light upon the earth? The three days up to now were dark days, with only light to light them?
And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.
So many of the stars are so much larger than our own tiny star! But there are only two great lights in God's book? And one of them is the moon? That's not a light, it's a mirror! Simplification is one thing, but this (from an all-knowing god) is lying.
And God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
Ah, yes. The moon and all the stars are in the sky. In the expanse firm enough to separate the waters below from the waters above. How ignorant did this god want us, his creations, the readers of his book, to be?
And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let flying things fly above the earth across the expanse of the skies." So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the sea, and let birds multiply on the earth." And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.
Plants yielding seed have been around, sprouted forth from the earth, for two whole days now. Where is Adam?
Remember, the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life when no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up. He should be here already. Where is Adam?
And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the skies and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
It's too late now. The bushes and herbs of the field, yielding seed, have already been brought forth by the earth. God told the earth to sprout these plants, and it was so.
Adam can't be made now.
It was too late the moment the first seed-bearing plant sprouted forth from the earth in accordance with God's will.
