Kameido Tenjin Wisteria Festival

Mid-April — Early May

The wisteria at Kameido Tenjin Shrine (亀戸天神社) were planted during the Edo period and now the purple flowers hanging from the trellises in the Japanese garden are a major draw from mid-April to early May. During the Fuji Festival, the wisteria are lit up between sundown and midnight, but the lights in certain areas go off at 10pm so best to get there in the late evening for the full experience. You can also find several stalls around the grounds of the shrine during the festival.

alright with the exception of hasarder - lomepal my music this week has been a lot more happier. why? i do not know. however, basic rundown if you don’t want to listen to the full thing but want recs:

hasarder - sort of heavy, fast paced, lot of layering of vocals and *bass*, pretty passive aggressive but in a wistful way if that makes sense, chorus goes very hard

matsuri - very light. like cotton candy light. i love 💜 anyway it’s also a slight mix of traditional and modern instruments and the vocals are very pretty (man has a very calming neutral voice but hypes it up for the pre chorus and let’s the instruments do the work for the chorus)

boyfriend - very popular song so not surprised if you already know it but it’s pretty light, has nice harmonization with the vocals and all, very lowkey song

never be like you - edm but chiller, like none of the ear deafening classic edm of 2013. vocals are nice, buildup to chorus is what got me honestly and overall a good balance of edm and vocals

move! - love love love this song. very good. drawly voice, really good stacked vocals, instrumental is like choppy, which works SO WELL with the airy tone of the song

Sweetpea was finished in January 2022 but I look back very fondly on creating it so it’s been fun to see it get new life on Tumblr. I created it throughout 2020 when I was missing traveling and Japan. It honestly kept me sane. At the end of 2021 I was having a really tough time mentally. When things felt hopeless the goal of finishing Sweetpea pulled me out of it and gave me a reason to keep going. The friends I’ve made in this community are irreplaceable. Thanks to anyone who visits, you are honestly visiting a piece of my heart! 💛
