Sometimes you just get a need for angst, you know? Imagine an AU that's almost normal Elden Ring, but Omen are a lot more accepted. Also the twins are fairly young, Godwyn is still alive. Mohg and Morgott are still very close. Too close, they whisper at the court. They behave in way brothers shouldn't.
Then Mohg realizes he's pregnant. He's terrified. He's unmarried and the father is his brother. He manages to hide it for quite some time, but is eventually found out. It's a massive scandal, even if nobody knows who the father is. He looks to Morgott for help, but Morgott is desperately trying to make their mother proud and so basically leaves Mohg to the wolves. Mohg is banished, and doesn't have bloodflame or survival experience from the sewers.
Morgott spends years feeling extremely guilty, dreams every night about how Mohg and his, their, baby must be dead. Starved. Killed. Illness.
Eventually he can't go on like this, so in defiance of Marika, he sets out to find Mohg.
(I'm sorry Morgott! You're great!)
OH I LIKE YOU
for all the cute shit i like and how much i love happy endings, i fucking ADORE angst and my faves going through as much pain as possible so scenarios like this are just *chef's kiss* yes please!! the sadistic part of me wants for morgott to find mohg living in absolutely horrible conditions - maybe even in the sewers, ironically - with the baby not having survived, perhaps dying during or even before birth. and mohg is just. so angry and bitter, and how dare morgott come for him now, what difference does he think it's going to make at this point? and he wants to hate morgott so bad but despite everything he can't, and when morgott embraces him he just melts into it, having been so alone and having missed his brother so much. and maybe morgott brings him back - something that is allowed only because there is no baby, and even then with extreme reluctance and only on the condition that mohg stays hidden and isn't seen by the public, and that morgott and he act "respectably" - and swears to care for him and nurse him back to health and not abandon him again. and it doesn't take long until they're back to being too close (though not immediately to the kind of activities that could result in another pregnancy, mohg being mentally far from ready to go through that again)

I’ve been theorizing that the reason why Miquella currently looks so strange (aside from the blood ritual thing) is because he’s not finished reforming. In the opening, we can see that his proportions look really off and he’s covered in some sort of slime. I always found that strange but it made me think: what if he had underwent the same sort of metamorphosis caterpillars/larvae do in their cocoons, with how they basically just melt? I could be wrong, but its interesting to think about tbh
Yeah same, I think that's whats going on! I'm not sure how specific Fromsoft went for their inspirations with Melania and Miquella, as Malenia is based off a specific apple fungus that I'm too afraid to google myself, but I personally think that Miquella is based off of the eublemma albifascia moth, which would explain why he remained in a child's body up until he made himself a cocoon, and why he looked all gross and fucked up in the opening when Mohg was taking him away- he's literally dissolving and reforming himself into his godlike form. It might not be like, a 100% gooping process, but that would explain why he looked all weird and surrounded by cobwebs when the carvings around the Haligtree show someone who just looks like a normally-proportioned kid. Mohg interrupted the metamorphasis when he kidnapped him, and then seems to have restarted it in his territory, perhaps under the guidance of the Formless Mother (bc I don't expect some dude from the sewers to know what to do with an Empyreon's transformation into a god, while one of the outer deities certainly would). And, like I said before, him following a moth's lifecycle would explain why he didn't appear to age, as moths remain in their baby form for most of their lives before undergoing a dramatic transformation into a sexually mature adult. The 'curses' afflicted all appear to simply be parts of their nature that they considered a curse bc of the Erdtree's influence, like the Omens, so it would make sense if that was the case with Miquella and Melania.
I also feel like Mohg dissolving himself into blood and pouring into the cocoon might be a part of why Miquella's so huge- his cocoon is big to begin with, but whatever Mohg's been doing with those blood rituals have certainly made an impact on Miquella's form. Which would make sense if he was mostly liquid during his transformation, as Mohg's blood would have been able to make a direct impact on his development when interacting with his...goo.
