5. Barber of Seville. I think he wants to be slash fuck Figaro and I can’t stomach that because a sexy Figaro is the only thing that Carries me through this post human chatgpt cold modern landscape. 4. Orpheus in the underworld. Again largely inoffensive takes except that he has like immense fomo that he didn’t spend the 1860s in Paris which is like, get over it. I also think he thinks that this opera is endlessly funny and gives and gives and it doesn’t. It just doesn’t. I love it but it’s a rare listen. You can’t wear out the cd. It’s not meant for that. 3. Così fan tutte. Here we get into real problematic territory. This is a brain off prima facie misogyny extravaganza for Lestat. Women ARE just like that, thinks Lestat. Histrionics. 2. La traviata. Man shut the hell up

1. L’elisir d’amore. Local man who had to fight wolves for dinner 150 years ago thinks he’s still poor and can relate to the trials of Italian peasants. Lots of “back in my day” sort of talk; mean about the barber character without recognizing that is literally him in several ways. Convinces himself he’s a tenor and tries to sing una furtiva. Rough for the entire household. This takes first place bexause if I was trying to enjoy this, one of my favorite opera experiences of all time, and I had to sit next to him, and had to put up with his condescending laughter at the romance shenanigans when he is literally stupider than any character here, I’d push him out of the box and straight into the orchestra

"All I Do is Dream of You" (most famously heard in Singin' in the Rain), maybe? Honestly, so many basic cheesy love songs (like "All of Me" and stuff like that) could fit him, most of his characterization revolves around him being a lovesick simpleton.

6. My least favorite ship of him:

I swear I have literally never seen anyone ship him with anyone other than Adina, either straight or as lesbians. I wouldn't say the lesbian version is my *least* favorite, but I myself am a painfully straight chick with painfully straight desires, and I apologize for this.

9. My least favorite outfit of him:

His outfits are pretty of the same kind (i.e. nothing too remarkable) in most opera productions, period and modern, and I haven't seen one that stands out as being particularly bad, as of yet.

12. Sexuality hc:

Nemorino is not straight, or a lesbian, he is Adina-sexual/oriented! I'm probably inclined to believe that he's not as interested in sex as one might believe, or at least he hasn't given it much thought (let's just say that being an illiterate peasant probably doesn't give you the most fluid exposure to the concept of sex); he prefers *romantic* stuff, like cuddling and kissing. But he probably starts enjoying it more and more after some time.

15. Worst storyline he had:

I don't know if it counts as a storyline, but it's difficult for me to watch the Act 1 finale, because of all the suffering and humiliation he goes through (even tho it's very tame compared to most other operas).

18. How I think he was as a kid:

A typical rambunctious and hyperactive autistic kid, with way too much energy, a constant whirlwind of running, playing, climbing trees and swimming in the river; I'm drawing quite a bit of inspiration from my younger self to build my perceived characterization of him.

21. When do I think he was at his happiest:

Probably when Adina confesses that she loves him. And maybe even more after they are married and the rest of their lives start.

24. What do I think is a secret he has that he has never told anyone:

I don't know, I really picture him as someone who is very honest and very open about his feelings, so it would be very difficult to pinpoint something that he would never have told anyone, even something ridiculously trivial like "The goats who got eaten by wolves 3 years ago escaped because I'm the one who left the gate open" (I have no idea how I came up with this).

27. If he could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for him to meet?

Probably Figaro (from both operas), I guess? This dude is a self-proclaimed expert matchmaker, so he might give him some friendly love advice, and I'm sure the two would hit it off rather well. Yeah okay, Nemorino is a tenor, but a much nicer one than Barbiere!Count Almaviva.

30. The funniest scene he had:

Well, finally an easy question for once! Definitely the Act 2 bit where the chorus ladies swarm him after learning about his inheritance, which he still doesn't know, all while he's drunk out of his mind with "love potion".

get to know: puffin

Puffin, future hunter, trained by Tanicus.

Not much is known about Puffin’s origins. He was discovered by Tanicus and Comet in a bundle of sticks and dead undergrowth, though they would’ve missed him entirely if it hadn’t been for the pitiful whines he’d made.

Immediately brought back to the camp, the older wolves worried about what to do with him. Neither of them had the parental instincts, and Meira had been out at the time. It had been a bit of a scramble, but after making him a soft nest and warming him up, a decision was made to look for another wolf that would be able to help look after him and any other pups that may find their way into the pack. 

As he grew, Puffin and Tanicus were more or less attached at the hip, and Puffin views Tanicus as his adoptive father, who has always been patient and kind with him. A young wolf full of ideas, Puffin hopes to form his own hunting party one day, and he can usually be found practicing his stalking, which coincidentally is Tanicus’s role in his own hunting party. He gets along well with the other pups, except for Figaro, who shadows him constantly, and Moth, who he seems to have some sort of rivalry with.

Fallout {The Morning after the Party}

Agnes woke up early out of habit. She probably couldn’t sleep in, even if she had wanted to. And besides that, she had a lot of work that she had to do in order to make the house look less like a disaster. Force-field magic and smokescreens weren’t going to help this one.

Figaro and Munro were sleeping on the floor of  her bedroom, wrapped up in one of the dozens of spare blankets that were in the closets. She had to take a picture of them like that, since it was so weird. Two of the least cuddly people in the world that she could imagine and here they were, just a couple of spoons. She’d just let them sleep - they were her friends after all, they could just hang out.

Some of the ‘undercover’ homeless were already starting to work on the downstairs, trying to erase the damage largely done by the lost boys. The worst of it was in the kitchen, where there were smashed bottles and food left out. She wrapped up and saved what she could, humming along to a song stuck in her head when she felt the phone vibrate in her pocket. It was about damn time.

She leaned over the counter, grinning as she saved each one of those pictures to her phone. Not only did Chip look cute but they were rather flattering of herself. She didn’t know how Chip managed that. And then she went back to cleaning, helping to sweep up and clear the empty bottles and wake up most of the people who ended up staying over night until she felt sure that the house was cleaned out enough for her parents standards.

“What the fuck is this?” Pierre asked, taking long strides into the kitchen that he hadn’t helped clean at all, screenshots of the pictures Chip had posted on his phone screen. Agnes was eating breakfast when he approached, looked over and shrugged. He got right into her face with it, almost spilling the bowl. “Seriously, what got into you last night? Drinking? A fucking Laveau?”

“I don’t see how it’s any of your business,” Agnes said, picking up the bowl of her cereal and tried to move out of the room but her taller brother stopped her, blocking her path. “Seriously? I’ll just force you out of my way.”

“And I’ll keep reversing and reversing until you shut up and answer me.”

“Well, which is it? Shut up or answer you?”

“We’re home!” Came Esmeralda’s chiming voice from the front door. Agnes took the moment of opportunity to bend under his arm and walk towards her parents. “Thought we’d check in a bit early, make sure there’s not too much damage...”

“Looks pretty spic and span,” Phoebus said, coming in, carrying the bags. “I’m impressed. And there were no reports of any drunken accidents last night - I’m pretty proud of the two of you.”

“But Agnes-” Pierre interrupted his father. He wasn’t stopped by his sister, who turned her head to glare at him, but rather by one of the house-cleaners who had cleared her throat, walking into the room. She cleared her throat again until the family all looked at her.

“You told me to tell you if there was anything unusual while cleaning, ma’am?” She asked, her head bowed to Esmeralda.

“Harriet, honey, you can call me Esme,” Esmeralda said, then shot a glance towards her kids. Both looked a little confused. Pierre shrugged, not knowing what this was about. “Did you find something?”

The small woman held up a small square wrapper. A condom wrapper, that had been ripped open. No one was really that surprised. They all knew who and what Pierre was. Even he just thought that it was one of his own.

“Yes, our son uses protection, thank God,” Phoebus muttered.

“No - not Pierre,” Harriet said, looking straight at Agnes now. “It was in Agnes’s bathroom. With the...” She shook the wrapper again to show what she meant without having to say it.

And that was enough for Hell to break loose.

“YOU FUCKED CHIP LAVEAU?” Pierre was the first to yell. And then Phoebus started to stammer and get angry that his daughter could have been so irresponsible, and then Pierre added on that he had seen her drinking and she had herself locked in her room most of the night, which was partly true - she did end up hanging out with Figaro and Munro after River and Summer left, hence why they were in her room. Agnes didn’t even try to defend herself. She just looked over at her mother, who was the only one who was silent. Esmeralda rolled her eyes at the actions of the men.

“So he gets praise for using protection-” Agnes said, deciding not to address the actual accusations, but the meanings of the other things that they were said. “-but if I do, I’m still irresponsible and what - a slut? Like, do you know who you are talking to? At all?”

“At least I own up to what I do,” Pierre said, shoving his phone into his father’s face so that he could see who he was talking about.

“Is that - is that a gun? Agnes?” Phoebus asked, completely bewildered. He didn’t even have a smart alec response to any of this. But as evidenced yesterday, he didn’t seem to have any charm when it came to his daughter.

“This is an anti-gun house,” Esmeralda said, finally speaking for the first time. “Honey, you know this-”

“Your husband is a cop! He was in the army!” Agnes said, putting the bowl down so she could throw her hands up in the air. This was insanity. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “There’s pictures of him, with guns, literally everywhere. And speaking of,” She turned to her father again, not nearly done. “Leaving your teenage kids to throw a party with booze? What the hell were you thinking? I know you’re old but Jesus Christ, there were literally people flying around in here. It’s a miracle there wasn’t a noise violation. An even bigger one that no one got seriously hurt because Pierre was just giving out shots left right and center. When he wasn’t off fucking someone-”

“Hey!” Pierre started, but Agnes wasn’t done yet. That bit of uplifting that Chip had given her last night? It inspired her. A lot.

“I’m not even really going to start with you, bro, because you’re not going to change. You all really need to sort out your priorities.”

A loud yawn from the top of the stairs made even her quiet. Munro shuffled down the stairs, his clothes stiff from the pool water. He made his way down the stairs, fully dressed, and noticed the family. “Uhh - got any orange juice?”

“Him too?”

“Yup. Big threesome.” Agnes said. “Also lots of alcohol, lots of cocaine, lots of .. of crack. And guns. So many guns. Just look at all the bulletholes!”

“Oh shit, you could have at least woken me up for that,” Munro said, finally realizing he was walking into something. Clearly he wouldn’t have been put into Pegasus if he had gone to the Magisterium.

Phoebus let out sounds. They sort of sounded like words but it was hard to tell exactly. The only thing that she made out was ‘Grounded’.

“Gladly!” Agnes said back. “I’ll just ground myself actually. I’ll start staying at the school on weekends too, how about that?”

“Good!” Phoebus said back.

“Great!” Agnes said, and stomped her way up the stairs, the cereal forgotten. Literal smoke was coming out of her ears, she was so angry. She even just left Munro to the wolves down there, but he was sneaky. He’d be able to find his way out.

Fig must have snuck out since they weren’t in Agnes’s room and she was alone. She slammed and locked the door, then sat on her bed, fingers running over the notches that Chip had made.

Last night had been so worth the arguments - even if she felt that the arguments themselves were fucking stupid. Hypocrites, every single one. It was hard to be the sane one in the family.

Chelsea’s Giroud sends strong message to Lampard

Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud has insisted that he will not accept limited role under manager, Frank Lampard’s starting XI this season.

The 32-year-old also said that he does not want to be number two striker at Chelsea, adding that he still has goals in his head.

The Frenchman added that he is resolute to win his place back in Lampard’s starting line-up after dropping behind fellow teammate, Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.

The former Arsenal star has started just one of Chelsea’s four Premier League matches so far this term, with Lampard instead putting his faith in Abraham.

Asked whether he will be happy to accept a more limited role under Lampard this season, Giroud told Le Figaro: “Obviously not. I have goals in my head.

“I’m here to help the next generation, but the time for retirement has not come.

“I’m still hungry and have a lot of ambition. I don’t want to be Chelsea’s No.2 striker, for sure.

“Just because I’m here as an older brother for the younger players, it doesn’t mean I’m out on the sidelines.”

Giroud will hope to feature for Chelsea when they take on Wolves in their next away Premier League fixture on September 14.

:D ty for the ask. /cracks knuckles let’s go deep into the minds of these guys.

🌱is your wolf where they want to be in life? if not, what would they be willing to do in order to accomplish their goals?

For the most part, Comet is satisfied with his life. He has faith in his packmates and no true worries, though he is nervous about the pending winter and how they’ll fare. Sometimes, he wonders about what it would have been like if Meira had been the one to find him instead. Would he still be the leader? He doesn’t think so, and he would gladly let her take the reins if that was the case. He is a good leader but it still feels unnatural to him. He’s the type to step up if there’s no one else around to do the job, but he wouldn’t be one to challenge someone else. A long term goal he has in mind has to do with who will succeed him. He’s still young, but he doesn’t know if he wants his pack to be ruled by his bloodline or who is the most worthy. He feels weird about the prospect of choosing an heir with the limitations of his own pups. 

🥀 what’s the worst thing your wolf has ever done? what’s their biggest regret?

This is a deep regret for Comet. Figaro, a newer addition to the pack, had three brothers. Comet’s original intention was to take the four of them in, as they were all pups at the time, but tragedy struck in that moment. He was patrolling with Kid, who he sent back to the camp earlier than expected - he was going to go foraging for herbs and figured it would be boring to anyone else but Moth - and he discovered the pups close by to a cougar’s hunting ground. He was only one wolf, so he grabbed Figaro and began to head back to the camp when he came face to face with the cougar. He escaped, though just barely, with Figaro in tow, but by the time he was able to round up some of the other wolves to head back for the other pups, there was no sign of them. Really, there was nothing he could have done in the moment - he was lucky to get out of there alive with Figaro at all - but he can’t help but wonder, if he’d kept Kid around, or gone in a different direction out of the cougar’s territory, would he have been able to save them all? Somewhere in the back of his mind, he hopes that the pups made it out of there, but the reality of the situation suggests the opposite. His guilt makes him avoid Figaro most of the time, because he just can’t face the only one he saved.

🌾how does your wolf feel about their pack? about their pack leader?

Winnie doesn’t have much of an opinion about Comet, per say, but she, like some others, usually turns to Meira first in a time of crisis. That’s not to say Comet’s a bad leader, but Meira’s wisdom and approachable demeanor make it easier for Winnie in particular to discuss any worries she may have. About their pack in general, Winnie is very proud of her position as a scout, and though she’s still learning the ropes, she really doesn’t think any of the other wolves would do any better in her place. She kind of thinks she’s the bee’s knees, in that aspect. Something she’s pretty sour about though, is that she thinks Condor has special treatment as a lone hunter. Everyone else has to travel together - Meira still joins her when they’re entering new places - but Condor gets to do his own thing and it really rubs her the wrong way. She also doesn’t really like how willing the older wolves are to invite newcomers into their pack. She feels that no one gets vetted thoroughly enough, even though she herself was taken in without any show of worthiness. Winnie likes to keep her circle small, and the growing pack can make her a bit uncomfortable, at times.

🍂 tell me something about one of the wolves who’s less prominent in your lore!

I’m gonna talk a little bit about Slate here, because a) he hasn’t been introduced yet and b) he doesn’t have any backstory as of now. Slate is a pupsitter alongside Fern and Bronze. He’s a very shy and sweet wolf, and he’s good at his role. He isn’t close to anyone in the pack, but currently he is taking care of Winnie’s daughter, Poppy (SPOILER :D). He’s in truth a bit lonely, and while he loves raising the pups and the comfort of the pup den, he has a deep longing for something greater. When he’s not taking care of Poppy, he sneaks off to the furthest mountain, and climbs up high so that he can clear his head. He imagines his future a lot of the time. Will he have a mate someday? Will he have pups of his own? Would he ever be asked to change roles? If he was more open with his pakmates, he’d probably find that he has a lot in common with Tanicus, and I could definitely see him becoming close friends with Figaro once he’s older. In all honesty, if it wasn’t for his apparent wolfishness, he’d probably make a good pet. He isn’t a fighter by any means. Even though he knows basic defense moves, the younger wolves absolutely destroy him in practice fights. :P

get to know: the four

This is going to be a pretty lengthy post - four wolves for one since they all came into the pack together. I’ve put it all under the cut. ^^

general background

Bronze, Aster and Crow were members of a dying pack. Their other pack members were leaving to find new packs, but Aster couldn't travel too far, because she was still nursing her son, Zero. Being the only three left to fend for themselves, Crow and Bronze decided to stay with Aster, so that they could at least ensure her pup's safety. Fortunately for them, they began to hear rumors of a new pack forming in the mountains. It was there they found their new beginnings as a part of the Blue Moon Hounds.

Bronze, head pupsitter.

Bronze was the one to find the Blue Moon Hounds during a scouting mission. She quite literally stumbled into their territory, surprising the others, but after explaining her predicament, she was encouraged to bring Aster and Crow back to the camp with her, at least for the time being, to decide if they wanted to make their stay long term. After a lot of convincing on her part, she managed to get Aster and Crow to come back with her, but she didn’t blame their reluctance - after all, their last pack had fallen apart before their very eyes. She didn’t even know what became of her own son, Theo. It became clear pretty quickly that this new pack, though clumsily learning how to survive, was eager and strong and it would be a perfect place for them to gather their bearings. It seemed their arrival was just in time, too, since help was desperately needed in the pupden. 

Bronze took it upon herself to raise Maple, who reminded her of her own pup long ago, and though she’d never spent much time in the pupden at her old home, she grew accustomed to it, effectively relinquishing her status as a scout and formally joining Fern as a pupsitter. Her sheer confidence and will alone seemed to set Maple on the right track, and with no qualms, she took the place as the head pupsitter. 

Presently, Bronze is looking after Fern’s daughter, River, whom she’s grown quite fond of, though she still regards Maple as an adoptive daughter. She has a lot of trust in her fellow pupsitters, and if she ever decides to have pups again, she knows they’ll be well looked after.

Aster, lead chaser of Sabretail Hunters.

Aster, though usually quite the charmer, has been more on the stoic side since joining the pack, due to the shock of her previous one disbanding so quickly. She’s become flighty and anxious, usually hovering over her only son Zero, and she continues to baby him even as he grows older. Previously, Aster was a pupsitter in her old pack, and while she would have gladly taken on the role once more, if not to dote on her baby, she was all but shunned from the pupden by Bronze, who insisted that she needed to get out there and stretch her legs. She was invited on a few hunts with Tanicus, and it became clear that she’s one of the fastest wolves any of them have ever seen. A born chaser, having to focus on hunting down her prey distracts Aster from worrying about Zero, and she’s really hit her stride as lead chaser. 

It seems that recently, Aster’s taken a bit of interest in the pack’s grumpiest new member, Condor, but for now it remains quiet admiration.

Crow, chaser of Sabretail Hunters. 

Having only ever done scout work before, Crow was surprised to be assigned to the Tanicus’s hunting party. Clumsy and awkward, Crow had let prey slip away all too often, and had strongly considered asking for a different role because he was so awful at it. Watching Aster and Bronze thrive in their new positions, Crow contemplated leaving and starting all over again on his own, and it seemed his worries were obvious as he was taken aside one day by Comet. The two patrolled the area, making small talk, until Comet raced away suddenly after a hare, which he failed to catch. He’d trotted back to Crow with his head held high, however, and mentioned to him that he too, wasn’t very strong in the hunting division, but at least he’d tried. Seeing how nonchalant he was about the whole thing reassured Crow. Maybe he’d get better with practice. And it seemed to prove true after a time. With Kid and Saffron eventually rounding out the hunting party, and having Aster lead the chasers with confidence, Crow finally began to get much better at the role. 

Though he still has a lot to learn, Crow is well-liked by the rest of the pack for his perseverance and easy attitude, and though he’s quiet, he usually has the best one-liners in a conversation. He still feels like he’s searching for a place in the pack sometimes, but he’s hopeful that things can only get better.

Zero, future hunter, trained by Condor.

Zero is the only pup of three that survived when his pack disbanded. The apple of his mother's eye, Zero is doted on by Aster. He's very interested in hunting and has begged Condor, the elusive newcomer to take him along, but it's a wonder if he'll ever be able to stray too far from their home, because Aster is too afraid to let her only son see the world.

Somehow, Zero has managed to convince Condor to train him a bit here and there, which is shocking to everyone, but his eagerness makes him a fairly good student. He’s desperate to get out there and hunt, but it’s obvious that he’s not going to be allowed out until the last few days of winter. He’s jealous of the other wolves he was raised with, namely Peach and Maple, who are only a few months older than him and already make a killing as their own hunting party, and he has thought about approaching them and trying to reserve a spot on their team. He wants to be a grown up very badly, and he’s been caught more than once trying to sneak out of camp for just a glimpse of the neighbouring woods, and he has always been smacked across the ears by the gruff brute named Kid. If not for his own safety, he’s been willed to be patient for the sake of his poor mother, who would definitely lose her mind if he went missing.

As he approaches adulthood, Zero is hoping to lose his lanky form and gain the sort of tough, war-worn appearance of Kid, and he doesn’t spend much time with the other adolescent, Figaro, but would rather try to follow Opal and Puffin on their training excursions.
