Never Mind the Bollocks, This One's About the Robot

Does...does Bonney just make everything a named attack? You can guess from the title what we'll be focusing on the most here from Chapter 1092. I could start by pointing out a lot of things as this quiet thread weaves ever more and more into the foreground. Seeing more of a known scene through Akainu/Bonney. Kizaru and his forlorn attitude towards duty demanding the elimination of those he has a bond with. Here's one that'll waggle your eyes, isn't Kuma right now quite reminiscent of Cindry?

At this point, we've seen enough to know at least one thing is true. One of One Piece's little tricks is every arc has a thread that's more about setting up the next. Okiku is Wano's. You know what I say; the conspicuous absence from the Ryokugyu fight and ending on Rakugo Rocky's unreliable narration after the type of story we told with her opens the door to more than that. But forget about that...Robonosuke.

So that was the original pitch right? We didn't see closure on Kiku and a lot of things because she is still on the ship this whole time and has been quietly coordinating with the Grand Fleet, a sensible niche for a new quartermaster. One it's not time to write off yet, a lot of things could still happen. The ship getting tossed is a good chance to play with that. We did lose our stated plan which was a necessary step, and I'll remind you now how easily that came about very recently. Vegaforce-01 went down. But something else happened. Luckily, we have a spare though I don't think this one can fly. This...this is where we now have to heavily consider another idea. One we've poked at before.

This shouldn't be too hard of a thread to follow. We've already raised the idea that we've seen Egghead Island before. It has the right placement to have been where Oden met Toki, which would be pre-lab. Let's assume that's true for a moment. Why was Toki there in the first place? According to Vegapunk, that robot has been here for 200 years since its assault on Mariejois. It isn't crazy to think that's why VP wanted to set up his lab here, but that was post-Toki.

One of the most consistent thoughts we've always had about Okiku's peculiarities is how well they could go hand-in-hand with the potential her actual idol was the 800-year-old woman. Toki was a huge card to put on the table and never really utilize, even moreso when you have a cryptic but major new face in the present who can carry on a separate will and keeps hanging out in the background doing a whole lot of typical "new recruit" type things.

We certainly imply Robonosuke here awoke due to the drums of liberation...but that doesn't jive. This is the third time Luffy's gone G5. At least second if you don't count the quick bit with Bonney. Egghead just did the misleading stinger. We've already floated the idea that maybe instead of the ship our newbie who quietly slipped away has been solo questing on an island that could have tangential personal significance. Putting us back at another moment where you could actually pull the trigger very easily from here, assuming you deal with a couple of logistical problems. The plan to fly away being so spur of the moment and instantly dashed works better with "oh yeah, we forgot..." at least. Remember the cloud cover skipping over the night gives us for justifying almost anything.

What if Luffy had the right idea with Robonosuke? You just needed to know his name. That relationship with Toki would make Kiku one of the absolute best candidates to believably know exactly what she found and how to use it. A scrap heap sounds like the exact right place thematically for her to do so.

Weird thing about factoring in Toki is that she could really pop up a lot of places in history. We don't really know much about her past, she took to the life of a Daimyo's wife quite well. There's also the idea Oden's journal is our main source about her. Toki just flat-out could have been a part of why Robonosuke ended up on this island or any number of things.

-Yoosung,, he’d always seemed like such a sweet boy to everyone, including his family, and that was true! of course, that is until you dug deep into his personal life.

-Exactly four years ago, two months after his high school graduation someone close to him had died, a cousin named Rika. This sent him on a spiral of despair, the feeling of being choked by the world and unable to see the difference between truth or lies,, it became too much for him

-Which is when you had met him.

-Four years ago on the edge of a broken down bridge where he was ready to take his own life, nothing but a scared teenager, alone with nobody to turn to.

-You’d always tell him that you were just there to meet a client, that meeting him had just been an accident, how you'd practically dragged him away from the edge before yelling at him to snap out of it, but in reality you’d seen a boy running into the forest, and knowing what it felt like, to be alone and having given up.. you’d followed him

-So you’d offered him a job, the frontman of a small Mafia business, a place to clear up his head and a place to make him feel useful. You’d given him comfort, safety and a place to stay. A part of you was never sure why you would do all that for a stranger, but something about the way his violet eyes pierced directly through your gaze, essentially splitting you in half; you trusted him from the get-go.

-This was a man who had nothing of value left, someone perfect to work for you

-He started off as just the one who cleaned weapons and delivered encrypted messages between the other members, only sometimes allowed into “business meetings” with the others.

-However, subtlety is not what our dear Yoosung Kim is known for. He practically demands that he have a shot to prove himself to you, to the gang. He’s giddy the first meeting, barely able to stop himself from grinning as he inspects the old warehouse with wide eyes, not even listening to what’s going on

-You have half a mind to tell him to leave, that if he isn’t going to take it seriously he might as well go back to loading the guns in the truck,, but then he looks directly at you, smile spread on his face, the look of elation... and suddenly you forget what you were thinking, turning away sharply to hide the rising red in your cheeks

-teaching him how to shoot a gun, taking him out to the middle of nowhere as you start off with a, Glock G19X G5, a beginners gun, a 9mm cartridge and a good grip,, you teach him the basics, spending almost a whole day teaching him how to assemble and dissemble the handgun before letting him shoot even once

-even then, he’s a mess under your watchful gaze, missing the practice bottle again and again, until you were practically forced to stand behind him, readjusting his hips to be in line with the target, weight even on both legs.

-he tries his best to ignore this, thinking solely on getting this right- no- he couldn’t focus on your lingering hand on his hip, face dangerously close to his as you showed him the correct way to hold in in-line stance, but to no avail. a small shiver ran through his spine as you bent him slightly forward making sure he was in the correct stance.

-when he finally hits the target, he whips around to face you, his expression that on an excited puppy having finally gotten a treat for behaving well.

-as he laughed, you couldn’t help but notice how pretty he was, golden hair shining under the iridescent moonlight, eyes practically glittering from the euphoric sensation of achievement. a part of you want to scoop him into your arms, hold him as you kissed the boy in front of you,, and a part of him must have thought that too as he came down from the laughter high, a heavy silence settling between the both of you, anticipation for nothing as Yoosung studied your face intently, eyes flickering to your lips repeatedly.

-no

-tearing yourself away, you cleared your throat, muttering something about being done for the day... the two of you never speak of it again.

-these feelings started to scare you, the constant worry when he was out on a mission, resisting the urge to check up on him,, the utter relief when he made it home safe, the way he smiled shyly at you when you agreed with something he said, the little eyebrow quirk of his driving you insane

-he noticed you pulling away, always “preoccupied” or talking with someone else, and it hurt, but he never stopped trying to make you smile, making sure to work harder and smarter, throwing himself in more dangerous situation to the point where it almost seemed like he was competing with you, challenging you to the point where even the other members backed away, letting this play out whichever way it would

-so you put him on less dangerous missions.

-made sure to give orders so that he would in no way be in the line of fire. if he was going to act this way, with his feelings instead of his brain, he didn’t deserve to even be near a gun

-you say this, not realizing that you’re doing this... because of your own feelings... completely ignoring the fact that he was, in fact, one of the most talented people in the gang.

-of course he reaches his breaking point, frustrated with your incessant cold empty stares and vague reactions and his anger only heightened that now you were taking him off of transfers?? cutting off communication between him and high profile clients and for what?

-he storms into your “office” one afternoon, and immediately everyone clears out, not wanting to be a part of whatever was about to happen.

-he stands there for a second, fuming; hair a mess with his hairclips completely askew, white button up hastily buttoned and left unopened at the top,, and his face is red- so red it physically hurt to look at him with no reaction

-then? he did something completely uncharacteristic for Yoosung Kim, Yoosung who shed tears whenever he killed, muttering an apology after every bullet, the one who would rather rescue a dog from the fire than let it burn and stay safe. the one who bounced up and down after each mission and shied away from social events

-he reached across the table where you stood, grabbing the front of your shirt with a determination glowing in his eyes, one you’d never seen before. pulling you close, he spent no time in crashing his lips onto yours, grip loosening as your hands instinctively reach up to his face, cupping his cheeks you feel him smile against you, tilting your head up as he deepened the kiss. the first of many to come.

-at some point, you adopt a tradition; one kiss before a job, one kiss after, to ensure that both of you got back safe

-always having each others back, to the point where he understands what you need before you say anything, crouching behind the pillar of an enemy lair, smoke bomb already in his hand as he yeets it toward the targets, throwing a quick wink at you before going in

-life with him isn’t as chaotic as most people would assume, between jobs of course, you two had the finest of everything, finest closet, (he has an odd love for watches), high profile restaurants where the two of you consistently ate, and enjoying dates in every country where he desired

-he adopts the name “pharaoh hound”,, these specific types of hounds being known for their slim agility, and of course, the fact that they were in fact, hunting dogs.

-yes he will absolutely tear the town apart if you are so much as hurt by an enemy gang or the victims guard, even moreso if you’re kidnapped or killed. its aa scary business folks

-the bridge where you found him becomes your guys’ go to place, somewhere where you can both put down all facades of being tough and unfeeling and just be
