Hey there! For the author asks: 9, 15, 18, 23!
Really enjoying your work, it's nice to see original characters and high fantasy.
Tumblr media
So, MAJOR blushing happening. Let's get to it. 9) What, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
Music. I cannot stress enough that I have to listen to music. I hear something and scenes start playing in my mind like I'm watching a movie. EDM or instrumental pieces do it for me. Reading, of course. Stephen King said it best, "If you don't have time to read, then you don't have the time or the tools to write." Never mind how terrible he is at writing women. (A whoreish sprawl LAWL) Watching anime, shows, etc. BIG obvious.
15) Why did you start writing?
I remember being a kid and having this grand imagination. I would have these ideas with my toys and play out these epic made up tales with my friends. One day I decided to write them out at the age of 10 (Year 2000ish?).
18) Were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?
When Harry Potter became huge, I decided it needed more dragons and that they should be intelligent so I did my own fan fiction. I got into Dragon Ball Z in 5th grade? CRUSHED HARD on Gohan during Cell Saga and played Legend of Dragoon a lot so I wanted to blend those two worlds together. Insert awful OC with silver hair here and precursor to Adelaide. Then Gohan ended up being disappointing but Trunks wasn't! That motherfucker had a sword too! 6th grade was spent writing a 500 page fan fiction about my embarrassing OC By hand. Didn't have a computer yet. 7th grade I finally wrote a bunch of OC shit with my boyfriend at the time. It was so dumb but we wrote together and it was a good time. My embarrassing OC changed names here. 10th grade I remember reading Forgotten Realms The Legend of Drizzt series and I had this idea for a character like him. I was obsessed with drow and dark elves. However, I wanted to make my own thing. Mist Elves sprang from my imagination and Valarade was born. He needed a world and an adventure so, Adelaide and her winged-ass was written in. Champions was suppose to be about Valarade but, lol, Adelaide and the Aeons took over big time. My OC became...less cringe and I've been working on this since. Of course this goes without saying, Tolkein. Legend of Dragoon was the BIGGEST influence and elements of that game are SUPER obvious. Forgotten Realms The Legend of Drizzt and all of R.A. Salvtore's works helped with writing action scenes.
23) any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?
Yes, actually. In 2012 I started journeying down the pagan path. There are elements of my practice in my writing. Two of my guides in real life are written into the story as well. Angelic and Viking themed shit is spread throughout, but it isn't overdone. There's things you will read and be like OH. I know where that's from. If you practice, you'll find little easter eggs about the real deal shit.

It's been aeons since I drew dragons and @quazarshark was drawing dragons and our friend Pup went "Dragon Drawing Party!!" and I just saw some random Dragon AU fanart so like...... You know.
These are AUs of prior OCs but am I feeling them? Unsure. But at least I'm drawing dragons! Will make more doodles and sketches for sure.

Can't wait to finish Carrow Act 1 so I can continue making the worst possible decisions with TAV Silas. Gonna sleep with Lae'zel then immediately ruin her life by siding with The Absolute, which she does NOT deserve. But such is Silas behavior.

Family Portrait
Carthag, Shifter White, and Shifter Green
Alt version
Carthag and Shifter White (c) Q @quazarshark/@quillusquillus
Shifter Green (c) Me/Dragoonfliy
Carthag (black tree) is a carnivorous shapeshifting alien and progenitor of White and Green.
Shifter W (white beast) is a beautiful and sadistic shifter turned by Carthag, and sometimes her lover or tragic nemesis depending on canon.
Green (armored human) is a human soldier who agreed to turn into a shifter for spec ops science reasons and is now a human skeleton piloted by spaghetti. Notably this was without Carthag's knowledge or consent, so he's functionally her secret bastard.
They're all related like this!

Werwolf Varand or whatever.
We are still on break, it's good that we're on break, but I am so itchy in my brain for this.

MY SPECIALEST LITTLE GRIMDARK MAN!!! SUFFERER!!!!
My Grey Warden Varand for my irl homebrew D&D 5e game that's almost borderline not D&D at this point since we have about a million house rules. We have a team of not one but FOUR Grey Warden PCs playing through a slightly modified version of Dragon Age: Origins since the dm is a massive DAO fan.
I have posted about him before. Love my sad guy. I'm dealing with our two month holiday delay a very normal amount.
DETAILS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I reused a pic I already drew for the front ref and already had most of Varand's new upgraded armor drawn out and it still took me Literally Forever to ink.
There's no good wiki ref for the darkspawn blood Warden's Oath amulets and straight up I am too lazy to hunt down a playthrough so GUESS who got to just make shit up? :) It's meeeeeee. Our GM makes shit up all the time apparently he added an entirely new dragon for us to encounter and it slapped.
The Dragon Vessel is from the awesome ice dragon dungeon we did a year ago. I've never really thought about what it would look like and settled on "normal looking potion bottle but weirdly icy" and drew some fun frost patterns on there.
I never want to draw another reference in my entire life!
(she says foolishly as she makes an entirely separate reference sheet for werewolf!Varand and starts on a nice reference for most beloved bastard Silas)

In other game I know for a stone fucking cold fact that Caliban has absolutely no game he's like a really enthusiastic and completely oblivious professor and you could take all of your clothes off in front of him and he'd lecture you about the make of your clothing and immediately reveal his deepest darkest secrets to you while he was rambling for the sake of education and then his horrible magic parasite would try to eat you.

Sad Bullshit from two sessions ago in D&D DAO when Sethlos had a moment in the Fade trying to find Artoria's spirit. He succeeded! But got lost and spent an entire lifetime with her as hero siblings, a force for goodness and justice... Until he realized it was fake and it all fell away, as he asked Art for forgiveness for letting her die (twice).
It was really, really good RP from the GM and players' ends!
We all took damage to our primary stats but he succeeded. He sure succeeded in doing that thing. At the cost of our stats.

It consumes magic, but refers to it as 'Thaumic Resonance.' So far I've been unable to actually get him, it, to fully explain why it refers to magic this way, despite my best efforts. If it's related to pre-Mana War or even earlier civilizations I'm not even sure any adequate documentation exists. The Cold Tombs sorting system is lacking in terms of when rooms were sealed, and I left under somewhat tense circumstances so it's not like I could access the information if I return anywa-
thinking about how they would get along like a house on FIRE
TEAM "pls let us eat ur magical artifacts so the pre-magical-apocalypse entities inside of us are appeased and don't kill you instead" UwU

So sad but also I cannot WAIT to pull being a werewolf on some chucklefuck who pushes Varand a little too far.
Varand is a tiny little guy, a malnourished little city elf and his werewolf form is an ALPHA WEREWOLF. A LARGE CREATURE.

@sonohtigris
about Infraflux!Silas' mask
So yes and no! It's a cyberpunk mask, heavily inspired by the games Payday and Ruiner.
The "mouth" stays the same, since it's actually hinged and can open so he can eat and drink. The "eyes" have various emotions based on his expressions underneath the mask (though he can turn it off for a creepy "blank" look), and the surface can shift between simple patterns and most colors, though he tends to keep it red, white, blue, and yellow.
It's part of a mostly full body (probably about 3/4 body, it has sexy impractical gaps because I said so) pimped-out fancy haptic suit thing he wears on the job (it's also got audio built in so he can get hands-free calls) and when he's pretending not to be human and just a weird Organic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WORLDS FUNNIEST TEXT CROP I'm keeping that lol
Anyway old, somewhat out of date concept sketches.
Tumblr media
It's also a helmet! The whole thing is padded/armored up in the most important places. It's expensive custom and is the most valuable thing he owns, both in terms of initial cost, privacy (presumably he pays off the makers to keep him being human on the DL, he doesn't want everyone to know jfc he'd never get any privacy*), and maintenance. Obviously he doesn't want to get injured with it on but things happen and he gets into fights and it has to be repaired.
On the job he wears it with either various nice solid-colored crime suits or his like "fucking shit up" mostly black criminal gear. Off the job he has a completely separate, brighter wardrobe than he usually wears when he's not in disguise. Human Silas likes earth tones (browns, oranges, green), fancy straps that makes his chest looks nice, t-shirts with rude/dirty sayings on them, and scarves. Off of crimes "I am not a human thanks you can call me Silence" wears their fancy helmet + haptic suit thing, more blues and yellows, and more patterns, especially weirdly fancy pants and partial skirts, and long as they can run in them.
*I feel like most high enough criminal boss types absolutely know he's human and probably consciously request him for situations where they think Earth Sense (the like innate connection most people think humans have to the Earth, being pre-catalcysm beings and all) will be useful, and I think if Silas knew this he would throw up and die.

BYE BITCCCCHHHH~
"Beat" the mages tower, resurrected Artoria (but Wynne sacrificed herself to do so, ultimately only Sethlos knew why because he did NOT tell the rest of the party about her spirit abomination thing).
WHICH MEANS. WHICH MEANS. My friend has TWO PCs, Fin and Art, and he gets to pick which one he plays/theoretically swap out.
He played both of them this session, and did a wonderful job evoking the scene of all of us (Bhalkam, Varand, and Morrigan) trying to convince Art to return from the Fade. This was completely unprompted, with him like moving furniture around for maximum emotional impact (we had to sit across from him in a chair to do so, in kind of a one-on-one thing) our GM just kind of let him take the reigns and it was nuts. Really good session, lots of impact. Forever blessed and thankful for my current irl group (and my online group, which is equally as impactful despite being online only, but like.... there's something about an in-person session)
He's decided to play Art on account of the fact that her coming back from the dead TWICE will be interesting dynamic-wise with her brother Sethlos, who wasn't even there when we resurrected her. He couldn't bear the idea of us failing (there was a chance we'd summon a demon instead) or watching Wynne die in Art's place so he just. Dipped and started his IC six week soul-searching journey with his dog (he's changing classes). His player has already been in super deep talks with the GM about this. He has not told us what he's changing to, my money is on healer. I think it's The Trauma.
So Fin is getting shunted to Retainer, which is a third-party book thing (from MCDM's Strongholds & Followers) so thankfully we will still be able to RP with him, he just will only be driving us crazy at camp and not actively in combat. I will miss him. I loved how much Varand disliked him and I will MISS his haste. Being hasted.... Very good. Delicious.
When we pick back in a month or so it'll be really fun to see the altered dynamic between the siblings and how that bleeds over to our fighters. But for now we're beginning oneshot month where our GM doesn't have to. Well. GM lol. Gonna try and force everyone to play Heart: The City Beneath, which I would GM. But rn we're finishing up a Call of Cthulhu oneshot (Gm'd by Sethlos' player) that became four+ sessions next weekend though.
