Copperpot
Tumblr media
@deepestfirefun it’s a cute one. :)
@jesevans, @lilith15000, @theincaprincess, @devilishminx328
...
Right through the open doors of the royal guard station you stormed without any objection in ample notice from the guards who watched you walk right up to Prince Fili and toss a looped rope over his head. Right over his upper arms the rope was drawn tight and the blonde Prince simply shuffled on his feet to face you in the loop of the row around his middle to be followed by a third around his hips.
Looking down at you while you secured a twist of the line to link the two constricting straps he asked, “Good morning Bunny, why are you tying me up?”
“Because I need to talk to Thorin. But only the royal family can speak to the King without appointment.” Sharply you pulled a second binding line right then moved to drop and loop the rope around his thighs as well still under the watch of his brother, uncle Dwalin and all the forty puzzled but amused guards who had yet to be signaled of any threat by said uncle or brother to the King’s heir.
Kili asked as he watched you begin to form a precise pattern to the knot between the thigh and hip bands. “What knot are you trying to make?”
“Saw Dain use one like this.”
“Oh,” he said with a puzzled nod as you drew another tug of the rope tighter to ready a loop between two folds of the rope against Fili’s hip.
Fili said, “Why are you using Uncle Dain’s knot?”
“Because I want it to look like he did it.”
That had Dwalin chortle in amusement to Fili saying, “Well my elbow is loose.”
Kili lowered to help you, first by securing Fili’s elbow properly, “Oh, take this one. Yup, and loop that here.” Helping you to work the boar’s head knot Dain prized in full amusement, then watched you hoist Fili up over your shoulders.
“Ooh, nice and cozy, no shoulder pressure at all. Very efficient, Bunny.” Fili praised the position he was propped up in and chatted with his brother and uncle, who strolled along as you carried the heir all the way to the throne room between puzzled Dwarves. Including Dain, who saw his prized knot and left his stroll to follow along, wondering when he could have tied up his nephew and not recalled it.
 .
Tumblr media
Halfway across the mountain the guards outside the shut double doors hurried to open them as you said, “I need to speak to the King it’s urgent. Just look at the state of his heir.” They both looked in after your group on the continued smooth pace to the throne until they just had to shut them again by traditional distance of guests to gain audience with the King.
Combination of you and the others around you had Thorin clear the room of his Council as you settled Fili down on his feet again. Just leaving Dis on her ceremonial chair at his side as the current Queen Mother beside their mother Diaa and grandmother former Queen Niro’s. Softly he spoke to his brother to have his nose scratched as Thorin asked you sternly, “Bunny. Explain this! Why is my heir in my cousin’s knots?!”
Dain was on the cusp of shrugging to Dis’ glare his way at spoiling their first day to be instructing the royal guard in a decade long bit of training to be ready for their positions later on as they got a bit older to inherit those roles from their uncles Dwalin and Frerin, who remained with the guard on watch expecting to be filled in later by them, but you began to shout. “Because high and mighty Lord Copperpot-!”
“Copperpot,” the boys whispered and snickered at knowing as the others did of who you were talking to amongst the visiting Dwarf Lords from the southern kingdom of Orcarni.
“I can’t move five feet to my left without him barking orders at me! And apparently he’s delegated himself on charge of my rent fees, which apparently to his wisdom is not to come out of my earnings from the contract to win back Erebor or my account in the treasury, so I’m not certain how he intends I’m supposed to be paying my rent! Apparently I’m a golden egg laying goose and I can just drop a gourd sized egg at his feet for the task at my fancy! But now he says I’m five weeks late and I’m to be turned out on Tuesday at 3:15am precisely!
And I said I would take it up with you but he of course felt it necessary to remind me that it is not my place to be speaking with the ruling family without proper appointment, so I made one, five weeks ago, but the walking radish went and bribed the aid to erase my name off the list because only members of high born blood status can request an appointment with the King in the first place. So I have to go back in time and choose high born nobility within a notable clan suitable to your rank apparently and somehow magic myself to being born from them!”
Dwalin’s shoulders were shaking in his fight to not laugh while he hid his face with his hand at the flails of your arms and Inflections of your voice from shrill to authoritative at this five week battle now boiling over. “And I’d have just hidden inside your apartment if I didn’t guess he’d be waiting for me there inside your toilet!” That had Dain chuckle and the women at the glaring King’s sides smirk and smile.
“What else has he done to thwart your daily tasks?” He growled.
“OH!!” You started and that bled into a longer rant of details that ended in your growling, “And I don’t care who his grand mama chose to take to bed to make his daddy but if he puts his finger in my face again we are going to have a diplomatic issue that can be heard by those in the afterlife when I hack off his hand!”
To Thorin’s audible growl of an exhale to keep from racing off the hang the Dwarf Lord in question to Dis’ question of, “He put his finger in your face?”
Sharply in a whisper recreating the point you lifted a finger to hold in the exact spot in your own face, “In my face!” Then you crossed your arms to not start shouting again.
Deeply Thorin drew in a breath and asked, “And who, pray tell, tied up my nephew?”
“Oh I did that.” You said and his brow rose.
Kili nodded with a wide grin, “I showed her the proper knot technique.”
“Not of royal blood.” You explained further and his brow dropped in his look to Dain.
Dis gestured her son’s way asking her cousin, “You did not make that knot?”
Dain answered plainly, “No. I recognized the knot as Fili was being carried by.”
They looked to you again as you said to Dain, “I’m sorry for framing you.”
“You are forgiven. Very well done. I am not certain when they learned to make my signature knot but very well done.”
And you looked to Thorin again as he asked you, “Why tie him up, for one, and two, why use my cousin’s knot?”
“One, he wiggles and you know it. Two because that buys me more time, not just any Ironfoot clan member tying up the Crown Prince but the King himself. Buys me more time to explain because family ties complicate matters.”
Thorin looked at Kili and Dwalin, “And you agreed to this?”
Dwalin answered, “Just walked up and roped him.”
Thorin’s brow rose at Kili who answered, “Seemed important.”
Fili added to that by saying, “Why else would she tie me up if not for something important.”
And the puzzled King flatly said, “I will speak to Lord Copp-“ making his nephews chortle as he caught himself and said the proper Dwarvish name, “And I will see to it his duties keep him far from yours. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Bunny.”
You nodded and said, “I have to get to work. I will schedule an appointment to see you around I suppose, just have to bribe your aid.” You said making him fight to not smirk as you turned post bow of your head.
Dain said with an amused tone in the lock of Thorin’s eyes upon him, “Take it you turned down King of Orcarni’s daughter for courtship and someone is taking it personally. I will fetch the Copperpot.” Turning mid trade of nods to smirk on the walk behind you to go and fetch the Dwarf surely to be thrown from the highest point possible out of the mountain to walk home in shame should he survive.
Niro asked the boys, “Aren’t you meant to be on instruction of the royal guard about now?”
“Yes!” The boys both said proudly, and Kili said , “Carried him all the way here!”
Fili nodded, “Smooth steady pace without a hobble or stumble!”
Diaa said, “I underestimated her endurance. I’ll sit her closer to us at the banquet tomorrow. Thorin clear a lunch this week.”
“I will.” He hummed to Kili’s move to start untying his brother for an amusing chatter filled walk back to the guard post to pick up where they left off with their morning lesson. Sure to be filled with raucous laughter from Frerin at the unfurled news of how his hopeful future sister in law and Queen to be had impressed the rest of his clan on top of the royal guard and any citizen passed by.
Niro nodded and said, “Bold to go for the heir, normally a sibling is chosen.”
Dis teased, “And here I’ve been wearing my sturdy outer coats all month to no avail.” Making Thorin roll his eyes at the beginnings of their chuckles and shift to bring his notepad closer to record the final list of grievances you had aired so he would not lose track before he reached the end of the list. Stuck adoringly with the hint of a precious half growl you had given off mid shout echoing in his ears.
For the lunch however he surprised you with on that very same day he could only smile brightly as you were left to their sign based tongue after you had squeaked out barely above a whisper, “I lost my voice.” A heart warming start to his full recount of how your bother free morning had gone so far. Ended with him rumbling to you protectively that you would not have another Copperpot incident or instigator again. A series of lunches and brief promised times alone were sealed by your signed promise to not kidnap his heir again and stolen peck you left on his cheek that as you scurried off etched a smile onto his face no one could break.

Revelio Pt 2 Into the Wilderness
Tumblr media
“You stay alive!” Dis ordered her younger son Kili tucking the stone totem into his inner jacket breast pocket she had carved herself as a means of protection. Upon which she had made him swear to not do anything foolish to Mahal himself and burn his sigil into the other side to seal his word to keeping that promise.
“Amad,” he chuckled, naming her as his mother in their native tongue. And to the jut of her lower lip she forced there not to quiver that had her beard and sideburns shift with the motion that to any other race could be taken as a means to charge head on at them. A show of her obvious fear for losing her sons as her father and grandfather had been lost to her clan for some decades yet. Onto the tips of her ears his fingers folded, just as she had done to him for him to focus when he was younger no matter how upset and was hinging on unreasonable. “Fi’s dreams of his One show us safe and sound in the Shire! We will make it there and you will feast with us when we present her to you amongst her clans’ supervision.” The reasoning of finding the fabled One meant to be his destined match through the known pain of loss of kin did little to calm her nerves on both her young sons venturing out on their own.
Simply she huffed and gripped his elbows in the shift of her forehead forward to rest against his for a close eyed moment to the muffled borderline bickering from his elder brother Fili and their father Vili, who was taking his own chance to lay his own time stealing protections. All the same the heavily pregnant Dam unable to escort her barely of age sons on their first voyage alone in the wilds, “Thorin should have been here,” she muttered again to her mother, Diaa, and grandmother, former Queen Niro, on her left. The pair who held her supervising stare on the backs of the duo in heavy cloaks the young brothers fastened tighter in the gathering of fog soon to wet their other layers otherwise for the opening of their journey.
King Dain to her right stated, “The boys are bold and have been trained well. Sure as water splits stone they will come across their wayward uncle. Last we heard Thorin was off near Fangorn Forest back from Gondor. Well on the way to the Shire.”
The answer only had her huff again and he grinned to his own mother stating, “Fili’s One is to discover him there within this year, we cannot hinder their introduction. Even you held your own expedition to discover Vili who found himself trapped in a ravine near to starvation had you listened to your parents’ arguments.”
“Thorin should be here all the same.”
Frerin, Dis’ other brother, chuckled, “Our brother has his own totems to chase while awaiting introduction to his One. Roac is with him he shall not waste time.”
“Amongst the Hobbits,” Dis scoffed and turned around to go find her tolerably weighted bean filled sacks she was reduced to tossing in moments of stress in replacement of her usual axes and hatchets. “What sort of courtship agreement could we muster between a Hobbit neighboring Elf?” Vili behind her hurried to ensure she didn’t strain or worry herself too much when she found the bean filled sacks. “How can we honor our son should she refuse our customs?!”
“My Stormcloud we shall face this together and ensure traditions of both our lands are honored fully.” Niro spoke to her granddaughter’s back, adjusting the hem of her ankle long armored outer robe over her trousers and boots she wore on her weekly boar patrol of the safer trails surrounding the Iron Hills territory.
Around the first bend of the pathway Kili asked, “Remind me again why we could not tell Amad you have seen us touring a freed Khazad-dum?”
Fili answered, “Great Grandfather died there and Gramps lost his mind in the last march our kin made on that kingdom. Amad would have surely locked me in the dungeons had we told her. We shall have to follow Mahal’s will and follow this journey to reach the Shire and see how we do reach that day of glory for our kin.”
Kili, “I am merely happy to be involved in this journey at all. Amad nearly had me retake my rites of voyage to our Elders a second time to delay us another week entrapping us in the late winter blizzards.”
Down South to where the Celduin and Carnen rivers join the path took a shift, and steadily under the inches of snow they could feel the difference of the cobbled pathway and that of the dirt surrounding it even through their thickly soled boots that had sunk deeply beyond their sight casting four identical pathways behind them from their legs. Down across the open plains of Rhovanion they would trek and turn at the far edge of their small keep for a brief break until they would have clear weather to voyage onwards to Fangorn and meet up with their uncle. “Amad and our Elders could not refuse, you are there to aid me in granting my One’s favor.”
 *
Seated atop the palm of a spindly twig haired Ent Thorin sat with a firm glare at the path in front of him. Locked in his focus to not fall asleep from the song it was singing, after his having been scooped up and taken to a three day long meeting of their kin to see if any had discovered his father. Radagast’s arrival however broke their stalemate on the safest pathway to guide him, as the Wizard from aid by Roac’s flight the day prior discovered one who could help his friend escape the endless meeting that would greatly put him behind from his duty to Mahal’s wishes for him. Echoes of the rabbit pulled sled faded away as the Brown Wizard was off to council with Saruman the White having secured Thorin a swifter pathway to the edge of the enchanted wood.
The scent of firewood from his latest dream of his One’s home he would reach sometime this year lingered in his nose as if to lull him onwards in the right direction by the strength of the scent. Where it was he had no clue as all he had seen was a song of home lost to that vile Fire Drake echoed from him and his kin as he stared at a figurine of a goat on a mantle above that roaring fire. A child had made that goat and he had to wonder if it was a sharing of youths that lured that painful song from him and explained why he was not looking at his One when he did share it. Very few clues came in his own dreams of his One, distances he stared off into with just hints of his thoughts on handkerchiefs, buttons, books and armchairs while he endured rain and winds gave him little hope his courtship would be as cordial as his nephew’s seemed to be from dreams shared with him.
All the same eventually down to the ground he was lowered, and in a grateful bow of his head the Ent rose and turned with a fond farewell to return in thoughts on their own latest wandering in search for their Entwives Thorin assured he would send word should he ever discover one himself.
Hooves and faint echoes of a horn found him in the borders of the open glancing around for a place to sit down to Roac’s flight away to search for any sight of his nephews in the faint snowfall that a couple dozen yards off grew thicker at the growing winds blowing the clouds off farther East. Over an hour to the mark and he watched two hooded figures appear through the snow blowing plumes of steam from their parted lips to his every smoke laced exhale to his final moments of enjoying a smoke under cover of the trees.
Down to the final cinders he smoked then put away his pipe back in its case to their arrival with wide smiles, jointly stating, “Hello uncle!”
Deep lowly from his belly he chuckled through a wide smile at his proud nephews who had traveled so far on their own merits. “Who set you two loose on the wilds? I assumed Dain might have sent a convoy with you to sate my sister’s worries.”
“Great Gran vouched for our training,” Kili stated.
Fili, “Amad and Adad however did swear us to stones that we would return alive.”
Thorin chuckled again in a lift of his hood once his feet had met the ground in his rise up to begin walking. “Not far to the Gap of Rohan, we might reach it before dark and King Thengel’s Men have fires over Helm’s Deep. They will grant us shelter until the New Moon has passed.”
Fili asked in his first step into the snow, “Will that delve into our funds for bartering near Bree?”
“No,” Thorin replied adjusting his grip on the hilt of his sword underneath his cloak he made lie flat again in the action to block out more of the wind as Roac burrowed in the protective hollow gourd carrier he had latched to his pack still warm from the wood. “Thengel still honors our alliance. His Men will house us and feed us heartily, perhaps in a sharing of a tale or two they have yet to hear some fine ale for the pair of you to mark the distance properly of your first trek alone. Your Adad was trapped in a ravine by now on his own.” Making the duo chuckle recalling the tale.
Fili asked, “No news of the latest whispers?”
To that Thorin sighed, “More talk of Fangorn, however the Ents have not heard of any sighting of Dwarves for a century past. I was almost delayed until the Brown Wizard of that wood aided my ferrying to the border for the price of warning of a sighting of Entwives should we see them.” He glanced at his nephews and said before they could ask, “And no, even they do not recall the likeness of their own females. Perhaps they are the flowering ones near the Shire guarding their borders. Fiercest Ents I have yet to encounter with aim to rival any Elven archer on their brightest day with un-ripened fruit at their disposal.”
Kili, “Would they attack us?”
“Only if provoked, our kin have a sort of warning system when approaching their borders. Even then, axes low and do not hunt the squirrels for supper, they prize them amongst their furry companions.”
“Not much meat on squirrels to begin with,” Kili replied.
“I believe that is the point,” Thorin mused back in reply.
.
Warmth and comfort as good as a fortress could offer the three were kept in good spirits amongst their few taller allies amongst the Men of this continent was had and cherished in their long chilly trek North West with nightly stops in hidden Dwarf shelters along the way. Beyond the final dregs of winter and into the creeping start of spring the closer they grew to the Brandywine River crossing. Just yet they would not be able to near the Shire and amongst their kin they would find shelter inside of Thorin’s home in the Blue Mountains and send word of their safe arrival by means of enchanted stone akin to Palantirs used by big people of old known only amongst their Dwarven kin.
The thump of heavy Troll footfalls however brought to them a decent supply of food stolen by the giant thugs taken from farmers somewhere beyond sight. And a few skilled arrows brought them down easily. The trio of goats with speckled coats known to come from the Grey Mountain region however in their being freed of their binds to keep them from fleeing away from becoming supper refused to budge. At least until Thorin and the boys rounded up everything they desired to keep and continued on to their next hidden Dwarf campsite. A bump on the Dwarves’ backs had the trio huff at their lack of feed for the four of the fluffy creatures that had trotted behind them refusing to go off alone or leave the trio to do the same.
“Come on you stubborn fools.” Thorin rumbled to himself and stepped aside to let the goats inside the barely dusty under-hill disguised camp that in the dark they trotted to the safe stable area that had some remnants of hay left from the last group that had passed through here not too long ago. A warm fire would come next and the supplies would come to use from those Trolls to whip up some supper and to share some more amongst the goats that curled up to sleep glad for the protection and shelter.

It’s A Mother Flocking Puffin Pt 24
Tumblr media
Special Credit to @c-s-stars for again loaning me her OC Mal for this storyline involving the Princes. :) Some more attention for the trio in this one.
*
“Would it be better for me to payoff my Yuula’s scholarship as her title and lineage has been announced now?” The Emperor asked King Thror on his way back from his trip to stroll through the gardens while you napped.
Thror shook his head, “No. I do understand your concern, you have the funds and her rank is quite stunning, however in our culture even our young nobles are granted the chance to make their own marks. For our kin she has taken an admirable path to her education.”
Niro nodded, “In fact the news was discussing that the other day. Her grades alone were impressive she merely required some aid on the funding. Starting a business and growing sturdier in her studies and our culture have nestled her into the hearts of our people.”
Thror added, “Were there some sort of dilemma on that aspect we would inform you immediately.”
Emperor Winge sighed saying, “I just feel like there is something more I could do.”
Both the great grandparents chuckled saying together, “That feeling never wanes with age.”
 *
Two days and the shift of the bed stirred the kitten lying across your back that stretched and rolled over accidentally off your back right into the hand that settled him back on your back. Thorin back from his wedding job eased into the bed gently guiding you to lay against his side using his shoulder now as a pillow dropping into a deep sleep content that at least with the late night flight he could arrive here and join you for a long night’s rest once again. Frerin, Dwalin and Balin along for the ride also we’re glad to be home again and to have him so glad to be back where usually he might be the one to try and play along with Frerin’s urge to explore as long as possible before returning to the same routines back at the Palace. Now Frerin’s rebellion swapped for watching his big brother melt more and more into a puddle for the adorable new sister of his.
Just sharing your receiving the stuffed bunnies was enough to stop him from scowling for at least a little while until the next marker and task was made and marked as a sort of goal to get to for him to earn more smiles and hugs from you. A posted picture of you asleep against his side to the credits of a film had the world seemingly changing gears on how your relationship was viewed and those pictures from the first market trip you made to now came up and were scrutinized for an allover stunning relationship for the nobles. Openly holding hands and pictured doing so on top of cuddling to and from Iron Hills began to melt the public even more.
Yet nothing exploded quite like a makeshift couple’s card to join the other clan cards from the Palace to announce the coming break to be joined by the other holiday cards sent to the public. You on a walk in the palace glowing gardens casting the outline of you in neon lights coming from the foliage around you. Tucked in your palms was Sir Burglar with Bagheera nestled on your shoulder and Thorin behind you. Arms draped around your middle smirking through the stolen kiss to your cheek that triggered the stunning smile across your lips, that once it appeared on the news show all the Durins in the film room watching the premier and reactions turned their heads to the boys now ducking behind the pillows they were holding. Squeals, literal squeals and elated shrieks came from the news anchors and crew who took the unique image apart inch by inch for how absolutely loving and affectionate it revealed you both to be.
Rivaling the cuddling pictures Vili and Dis had given from their own wedding ceremony including a pillow fight battle picture when the boys were nearly knew high of their palace apartment coated in feathers. The nobles in their generation were growing more personable and less rigid. And now in what would have been the hardest union to understand for the public between Elf and Dwarf lines, First Borns at that, proved to be just like any other pairing of Ones warming up to a future together to bear the troubles ahead with trust and love between you. The picture while being stunning also granted the jeweler experts a chance to get a better in focus image of those rings you were wearing to try and guess their meanings by everything from metals to cut and clarity.
Overall the public ruled its preference that much like Dis and Vili’s picture with them in the kitchen and the one for Dwalin, Balin, Bella and their Billi, the latter being shown the ducks by the fountain on the grounds, casual candid snapshots where the family seemed to be oblivious of the camera were absolutely adored. Even King Thror and Queen Niro were captured by the fire in their nightly reading and crossword book session cuddled together in a loveseat with matching slippers that even they had to adore the moment the boys captured of them. The coming week would be tough for their clan and people to understand the changes coming but these have a sense of hope that everyone could get through it together and share more moments and new beginnings when this holiday had passed.
 *
Practically shaking inside one of the many Baggins smials in the Shire behind his loving wife Clover readying the tea leaves Ganir came up behind her smoothing his hands down her arms from her shoulders. “My precious Ukrad, surely this is safe. Malachite has been given word from the Crown Princess herself that none will harm her.”
Clover retorted, “That isn’t what you said yesterday, and now I’ve cracked two of my tart crusts, which I never so much as dented before. And all my doilies are being properly cleaned by Lobelia, who won’t have them back by next week at the latest. Now we are entertaining royalty and I have no doilies!”
“I know I was concerned, but that was before Malachite shared her talk with the Crown Princess. I never imagined the minor burn could count as the one to break the curse, yet all this time she has been kindly treated by the Durins. Surely it is as Her Young Majesty has stated, Mahal would never call for a child to be sacrificed, Durin’s animal guide has found her for companionship, surely there is some deeper knowledge of the roots of our inner living stone.”
She sighed and said, “She was meant to get a degree, not two husbands.”
“Well this is only the courtship talks. In some instances it could take years for an affection to form to stir a courtship. We complete the talks for a possible courtship and then she is allowed to wear her bond markers and they can keep a friendship until a relationship is agreed upon between the three of them.”
She sighed again, “She’s not allowed to get married until after her degree, four years after her degree, so she can be through her residency.”
“That can be added to the terms, admirable terms, they are all young. Surely the Durins will agree to granting their boys more time as well. Malachite shared she knows little of the boys beyond time the Crown Princess is with the three of them together, that is a sign that there is ample time for a later courtship and union.”
There was a knock at the door and she gasped turning for the oven, “The rolls aren’t buttered yet!”
His grin spread and he hummed, “I will fetch it, my precious Ukrad.”
To the door he went opening it to find an aid there with head bowing to the burly fiery haired Dwarf with braided beard and hair in a long ponytail that shifted in his returned head bob, “Ganir and Clover Baggins residence?”
“Yes,”
He grinned, “Good, just have to double check, there are several Baggins’ dwellings, had to be certain. Just a moment.” Turning to give the signal to the Driver that let Regent Crown Prince Thrain and Regent Queen Diaa out for the stroll to the door and inside. Pleasantries were traded and into the sitting room chairs they all settled around the tea table loaded with ample treats and goodies.
Thrain spoke first to break the silence, “First off I believe we should start here, our Crown Princess Under the Mountain Jaqi has guaranteed the safety of your daughter Mal, or are you preferring Malachite.”
Clover answered, “She prefers Mal outside of our family home.”
Thrain nodded, “Of course, Mal has been guaranteed safety and even without that, no matter the circumstances between our clans we would never harm your child. It has been marked by Jaqi that Mal was burned by Smaug and was returned to your cousin Bilbo’s home. That Mahal would never wish for our kin to a child under any circumstances no matter the totems given. Any other person and we may not put weight to such claims, however, and we pray you do not boast on this fact it is quite precious and new to our clan.” The parents nodded uncertain of what they might hear, “There is a pathway, Olórë Mallë, a pathway that through dreams Vanyar are able to travel to Valinor, a pathway through which after her injury was able to travel to the Halls of Mahal.”
That parted their lips, “And she has been able to travel there since her childhood, growing quite close to the Valar Tulkas and his family among other Valar. It is rather hard for her to discern how to tell the difference between most of them, however she knows their core beings and truly we entrust that it is time to look past this curse to find peace for our pebbles.”
Diaa stated, “Which is why we have come rather than our daughter Dis and her husband Vili, they have just had triplets and are refraining from travel. We do hope our place here is tolerable for the initial trading of terms.”
Clover nodded, “Yes, we understand, pebbles must come first.”
Thrain, “Are there any terms you are wishing to add up front?”
Ganir stole a glance at his wife with a grin then said, “We were hoping to offer a suggestion that were a relationship to form that any marriage would not be allowed until at least four years after graduation for our girl, so that she might complete her residency by then.”
Diaa nodded saying, “Oh that is very admirable a term,”
Thrain, “Yes, we have heard through our daughter that they have had little interaction save for when Jaqi is there.”
Diaa, “I am curious, you are not close to your line Ganir, does that mean you would wish to hold an entirely Hobbit ceremony on her side?”
Ganir, “That would be preferable, yes.”
Diaa smiled, “That would be perfect then, as we both are familiar with those ceremonies through our own clans and for any Dwarf traditions you might miss we could always split our clan to join yours to grant you place in celebrating that joy fully in binding with our clan.”
Ganir nodded, “That would be, a very generous notion. Mal would be grateful to have shared in that side of her lineage rituals.”
Through that all 77 of the Dwarf required topics were at least touched on alongside the required Hobbit 48 to finish off the parental portion of the courtship contract period. Amongst them were several points that were marked as to be conceded to the bairns, as tradition as they mainly were fit to their preference over the parents. Any other topic was able to be contested by said bairns upon a later date in their own session of reviewing all the Dwarf and Hobbit requirements upon agreeing to trying out a relationship. But for now should they wish to they would be allowed to trade bonding markers and tap one another’s marks for the second time. To at least allow the bond to settle in their daily lives inside their parental agreed upon season of consideration for a relationship to test if they might one day be romantic or remain platonically bound for their lives.
Upon the return of Thrain and Diaa to their Palace however in the Blue Mountains word to Mal, Fili and Kili had them each reflecting over their copies of the lists of traditions and terms that had been laid out in the parental terms that would be inked up and signed properly by the weekend for official records. The trio at least while the Durins in Erebor got a chance to review the terms they had all conferenced upon since hearing the boys’ marks had lit up they felt the deal was settled on a decent footing and understanding between both clans. And once they felt comfortable they could discuss possibly trading bond markers still with the comfort that they had time to decide upon relationship status at a later date.

It was Friday by the time anyone could blink and the six day break was coming closer by the hour to begin once classes were through. Everyone knew how big this was, the Crown Princess was to be traveling Saturday morning to meet her birth relatives and the tension was palpable. Though while that grew one dilemma was able to be mastered for the time being and the young Princes were off to see to it now. Target locked and spotted across the courtyard Mal sat triple checking her notes and they had to hurry before she would take off again. Smiling widely in the thankfully empty courtyard they came to a stop from their sprint over. Both sliding onto the bench across from her with arms settling onto the table. “Good Morning.”
Forcing out a grin to their joint hello she replied, “Good Morning, Majesties.” Nodding her head to the duo.
“Fili and Kili.” They said together and Fili said, “We were thinking,”
Kili, “Hoping rather,”
Fili, “That you might wish to solidify our bond sooner rather than later.”
That parted her lips, “But, we haven’t even considered terms of renegotiations for our courtship contracts yet.”
Kili, “We will, merely, you see, the week ahead will be difficult and all of us could use some stability.”
Fili, “We are suggesting to simply make the bond so we might be able to shake hands at least. The contract talks would go entirely as scheduled as long as it takes for you to feel comfortable.”
Kili nodded, “Yes, no pushing for anything past friendship now. Just think, the sooner we trade bracelets the sooner we can reflect fully upon the future.”
Fili, “Yes, how better to plan out the rest of our lives than through a winter of snow fights and fort building with tons of cocoa?”
Mal looked them over in their joint try for pleading puppy dog stares and let out a soft breath, “Just securing the bond?”
They both nodded, “Just the bond, we swear.”
“We can have Bilbo supervise I suppose,” she said and their lips parted, her lifted finger had their lips purse a moment. “If, you both agree to take up the advice column in the paper one month each until we can coerce someone to take up the job, so far every other university paper has one but they still haven’t been able to find someone to take it up and there’s a pile of letters unanswered.”
“Agreed!” They said practically bouncing on their toes wordlessly signaling they couldn’t wait for the rest of the day to be over with so they could be bound to their One already.

Turned from the rows of artwork from the children who had thanked the nice ‘Ice Queen Lady’ for saving their lives and relatives from the meeting room they were displayed in among those for the rest of the ruling clan that you had been told of on your way back from the manicure and pedicure set for you. Fresh white tips with a hint of shimmer to them would be a nice touch for the upcoming event. Still this was hard being the reason for the injuries sustained by others. Not even mentioning the possible nightmares those children might have or be having. But focusing on the beginning ahead it became a bit easier to bear. With relatives who knew to some extent what that feeling was like.
Back to your room you went and to the trunk at the end of the bed they had brought along with your clothes from your closet you walked crouching down to ease the lid open. Inside several compartments were tucked away, enchanted to hold well beyond what thought possible. Moved aside the top tray was settled on the ground beside you freeing your hands to lift the next tray holding what you wanted, a stack of journals. From the top your fingers eased across the cover of the first three packed with songs, plays and music based stories that your dad had written packed with all the notes you could find in the trunk related to his work. The next five were journals of notes from your mother on her work above the final one you smoothed your fingers across the cover with Vanyar runes reading, ‘Nique-Puifíní Jaqiearae, Wedding Drafts’ pressed into the leather with ink fading ever so slightly.
Cracking open the front cover page by page were possible choices or parts of choices for everything from locations to nicknames of what you took as your relatives to start up a guest list and seating chart. Beyond that were sketches of cutlery and dish designs with color as well in the table setting section. A whole section on music from your father for the ceremony came next you lingered through. Imagining the notes come alive in your head filling your eyes with tears that deep inhales eased so you could turn ahead to the section on the ceremony from layouts to flowers and everything in between all halfway done with mentions to collaborate with you on them. Lastly was your section before the blank honeymoon tour portion you guessed she didn’t get to. Makeup, shoes and hair were only lists of possible styles or shades with the gown silhouette she drafted.
Up to the neck and sleeveless it would hug you all the way down to the layered poofy mermaid end of the gown, the back with heavy beading of vines and leaves, the start of a more intricate pattern you were sure to cover the whole gown. There wasn’t much detail but on a second sheet you had drawn up her design and had gone farther with it. Layered into the skirt were sheer layers of red cloth overlaid by sheer white layers giving the whole skirt an upside down flower appeal. All fed by ridges arching over your hips the skirt you hoped your Great Grandmother High Queen Ilma might find nice to help you bring the gown off the page. Surely the red wouldn’t be a problem and resembling a flower couldn’t get more Elf friendly than that.

While you had been puzzled on the missing sleeves growing up you left it at that as Niro and Diaa had already shown you their drafts of possible designs for the embroidery on the ends of the traditional robe you would be clad in. All a deep red with golden thread, with a Calla Lily shaped train, tight across the bodice reaching to your shoulder blades in a slight v dip shallower than the one across your bust feeding to the golden buttons securing it. The sleeves however would help to keep the robe cooler on you in its thick material in flaps of sorts secured only at the shoulders to hang over your arms elegantly down to the pointed tips meant to touch your fingertips. It truly was beautiful, shown by the matching one Niro and Diaa had worn in their own ceremonies in shades of blue and green to honor their own clans. While you had chosen red to simply nod to your Hobbit line as mint wasn’t a lucky color to choose for the wedding ceremony and deep greens weren’t known to be the clan color of  your Vanyar roots from what was publicly known, so you hoped red might be acceptable.
Tumblr media
Still, closing the book you sighed turning your focus to Bagheera on his perch freshly finished preening blinked looking you over feeling your eyes on him. “You’d tell me if I was missing a step in all this, right?” Slightly his head cocked and down your gaze dropped to return the work journals and tray to the trunk you shut.
The Emperor however in the doorway stood there saying, “In all of this you are doing amazingly.” That turned your head to him on his path to your bed to guide you up to sit beside him, “I am so proud of you, and they will be too. The red robe will be lovely on you, forest green, no matter how finely crafted would not be accepted to your lineage, Vanyar rarely claim dark shades, unless you accept blue for the Durins if they would accept that.”
“I do like the red. I would certainly stand out,” timidly you added, “Plus, your shade is a deep crimson.”
That had his grin creep out and his arm settle around your back easing you into a warm hug, “I will be honored to have you wear our shade, you have every right to wear it proudly.”
Settling your head into his shoulder you said, “There will be a bit of hassle working the clan dances and tasks with the rest of my relatives surely.”
Lowly he chuckled and pressed a kiss to the top of your head pleased eternally that even now decades later you had reached this level of a bond. “Even if you feel the need to place them in those rites I will be proud and happy to watch the ceremony all the same participation or none. It’s your day, for you, Thorin and the millions of people watching.” Making you giggle softly to his own chuckle.
“Do they like Dwarves?”
Deeply he inhaled and answered, “I don’t believe they spent much time around Dwarves to be honest. However they seemed pleased for your protection and all Oropher had shared on their race and clan. Even a bit new to their experience I am certain they will accept Thorin and his clan into the fold seeing how happy he makes you.”
In a glance up at him you asked, “Did you love your One?”
With a smile he met your gaze answering, “I did, as children, and surely I would have loved them in our adulthood as well. I know you are growing fonder of Thorin and while your trust solidifies that love will grow. You won’t be able to be timid in sharing those affections once you pass over that threshold, and he won’t be leaving you there alone either, be just as madly head over heels for you as well. Halfway there already by my eye.”

Right by the fountain where they had planned to meet her Fili and Kili stood with hands in their pockets keeping an eye out for Mal. Though at her arrival into the courtyard with two big flour sacks they hurried over to accept hold of lightening her load. Settling his against his chest Fili asked, “What’s this then?”
Mal said, “The letters for the column.”
The brothers looked down at them and said together, “Ah,”
Kili smiled up at her saying, “Ready for the train then?”
Mal nodded, “Sure, you did call to clear with Bilbo about this?”
Fili said, “Called and said we were dropping by said he’d be in and we can have Dwalin and Balin come down too for extra witnesses if you prefer to confirm it’s just for the bond and not to contest our courtship agreement talks.”
She nodded and off they went to catch the train to the waiting driver that took them to the office. There past the lobby and lift they filed out smiling at the sight of Dwalin gently bouncing Frodo in his arms humming to him calming him down from his latest tooth coming in with a frozen teething toy on which he was gumming. His eyes shifted to the trio entering the floor while Bilbo finished up another call, “What are you three up to? Don’t you boys be corrupting young Mal into any mischief now.”
Fili and Kili said, “There’s no corrupting anywhere.”
Bilbo eyed them hanging up the call and came closer to the trio flashing them a quick grin asking, “So what is all this about now?”
Mal inhaled and said, “Fili and Kili and I talked this morning and we thought it might be best to solidify our bonds.”
Dwalin huffed and Kili said, “Not to skip the contract negotiations or start a relationship yet!”
Fili, “Just to settle the bond and see where we stand through the rest of the negotiations.”
Bilbo looked between them asking, “Bonds? What bonds are you talking about?”
Mal said, “When Smaug attacked our Bonding Marks were touched and since then when we’re close they glow until we settle the bond as Ones.” She said showing him the clover on her wrist and jellyfish behind her ear that were lit up.
With lips parted Bilbo said, “So that’s what the marks do, my mother only told me it was a guiding sign to our Ones, here I’ve been popping into every shop with an ax symbol on the shop front.”
Fili, Kili and Dwain all looked at him with the former asking, “Ax symbol?”
Bilbo nodded and shifted his arm lifting his rolled up sleeve a bit more above his elbow revealing the now glowing ax mark widening Dwalin’s eyes. “Had this forever, been driving me halfway mad to figure out what it meant.” Lowering his sleeve he asked Mal, “So how does the bonding work?”
Mal said, “Well it’s in a spot your One touches you the first time, they brushed mine and did the same in hiding from Smaug. All we’d have to do is tap them again to settle the bond so they would stop glowing, and there’s a sort of deepening of trust, sort of a link between us you can’t break.”
Bilbo looked to Dwalin asking, “Your clan would be against the settling?”
Dwalin wet his lips halting Frodo’s bouncing a moment for his brain to click back into gear again and answer, “Not the settling, merely sometimes with the bonding a wish to rush things comes up. If you agree it’s merely to settle the bond and not to rush into courtship then I can’t see why their parents would be upset in just the bond.”
Tentatively the trio smiled at one another and once Balin was called down under the careful watch of the elder pair of brothers timid pokes of each glowing jellyfish and clover dimmed and formed an outline around the freckles in shades of matching pale blue and gold. Along with those from Fili and Kili the bonding bracelets in hues matching their mark outlines of woven mithril with pendants in the shape of jellyfish and clovers were traded and looped around their wrists. Hovering to the side however clinging to the toddler in his hold now dozing off again at the relief from his pain Dwalin kept stealing glances at the Hobbit clearly sharing his Bonding Mark he muttered to Balin about while Fili and Kili muttered to Mal the reason why their uncle was so focused on Bilbo.
Mal with a sudden smile asked, “So, Dwalin, what’s your mark?”
That had his eyes on her along with Fili and Kili’s in shock for her sudden meddling. Subtly he cleared his throat and blinked a couple times before rumbling out, “An ax.”
Bilbo smirked asking, “That a common mark among Dwarves?”
Balin fought his smirk as his baby brother looked at his One, “No, quite rare, especially in green.”
Bilbo, “Green, oh,” he said as it clicked in his head and he looked Dwalin over adding, “I wouldn’t suppose you know how to juggle, an old demand I expected of my One when I was a fauntling.”
Dwalin, “I used to often, but I can pick it up again shake off the rust.”
Bilbo gave him a curt nod replying, “Practice first, then we’ll talk, since there seems to be need of contracts.” Turning for his desk hiding his pleased grin at having such a handsome and kind Dwarf all his own to be bonded to. While Dwalin held his own bashful grin for the hint of opening terms with his One he could now confirm his hopes he’d shared with his parents and brother on his brewing affections and bond for Bilbo and little Frodo.
Balin smoothed his hand across his brother’s back in a silent symbol of pride then said, “Now boys, you have a ride to the Palace for tomorrow to be on time for supper and allow Miss Mal to get to her studies and start off her break properly.”
Mal glanced at her watch, “Ooh, not studies but I do have to go. Helping with the new medicine shipment to cover for Tallep.”
The boys nodded and said, “We’ll drop you on the way. Bye uncles, Bilbo and Frodo!” Filing into the still open lift waving to the room to get her to the car and work on time. The full ride they shared their plans for the trip to Greenwood, after which they could plan a stop together for lunch or something casual.
Fili’s eyes popped a bit wider on the car’s stop at the vet’s office, “Mal, hey, um, can we give Jaqi your number?”
Kili nodded, “Right! She said she forgot to ask for it and the school social page is swamped lately to reach you.”
Mal, “Oh sure, ya, I wasn’t sure if I could ask for hers or not.”
Fili, “Oh don’t worry about that. You’re friends and close to family now.”
Halfway to blushing she said, “I wouldn’t say family yet. My parents said it’d be after I graduate and finish residency for any engagement at least.”
Kili waved his hand, “As if that would stop the bond. We will be friends first but even then we’re still practically family.”
Fili, “You can always come to us no matter what.”
Mal nodded and paused asking, “She’ll be okay this weekend? She seemed nervous.”
They both said, “We’ll look after her. Big, meeting of clans and we rarely get to go to Greenwood aside from Great Gramps.”
Tenderly the boys took her hands saying, “We’ll be there. You just relax and we’ll tell you all about it when we get back.” She nodded and her hands were released in her slip out of the car to hurry inside allowing them to signal the driver to head to the Palace.

Next Caller Pt 32
Tumblr media
Dwalin grumbled asking Dis once in the hall as Bilbo readied Frodo for breakfast, “Whose great idea was it to bunk the lovebirds together? Up till we had Frodo Gran was hesitant on bunking me with Bilbo.”
Frerin smirked saying as he joined the pair adjusting his pajama pants over the back of his slippers. “I might have mentioned something.”
Dwalin, “What could you have said?”
Frerin chuckled, “Oh come on, I’m the baby and I just want my big brother to be happy, and possibly have a chance to cuddle in a chilly room with the lady of his dreams.”
Dwalin chuckled and Dis said, “There it is. Wondered why they’d pick the teal room.” She looked around, “Where is Vili, he was supposed to fetch them.”
That had the group heading to the guest wing where in the hall crouched down with his phone in hand mid snorting laugh the blonde was found making Dwalin ask, “Vili?”
Dis unable to help but grin at his next snorting laugh in his try to straighten up on a knee asked, “What’s so funny?”
Again he laughed gesturing for the door leading to your shared room that Frerin opened and walked through. The lights were already on and mid snore the pile of comforter on top of Thorin’s back rose then fell again in his exhale. Clearly with the comforter missing from your bed it was clear what was curled in the mess of fabric. Chuckling himself Dwalin reached out to Thorin’s arm poking it making him grumble from under his pillow. “It’s still dark out.” He rumbled in Khuzdul.
Lifting the pillow Frerin said, “No it’s not, Rin. Get cold last night?”
Thorin rumbled, “There was no fire.” Shifting his arm only to notice your arm curled underneath it realizing it wasn’t one of the boys on his back.
Dwalin said, “Alright, I got the Mafioso.” Easing his arms carefully under the blanket burrito to move you back to your bed.
A grumble from you came in the minimal lift off Thorin’s backs only making the Dwarf grumble, “Hold on,” Dwalin paused seeing the awkward tilt of Thorin’s head only to see the fingers his were trying to loosen in the shift of his arm, “She’s got my beard.” A simple slide of a finger under yours and the grip loosened allowing him to shift the braided strip of beard out of your grip, in his roll onto his side he watched Dwalin in his smirking path carrying you back to your bed in your curl in his arms closer to the warm chest.
Dwalin rumbled, “Well she wasn’t kidding that she ends up on top of her sleep partners. Even separate beds won’t stop her from winning.” Onto your bed he settled you down watching you grumble and your ball of covers coil up again making Dis sit down beside you and chuckle to herself in your wiggle closing the gap between you like a warmth seeking caterpillar.
Vili, finally having calmed down at the foot of his bed lifted the sticker sheet asking Thorin in his sitting up to rub his face, “What are these?”
Dwalin said, “Stickers of the Countess. She gave me one yesterday.”
Dis, “She mentioned she had a few sheets to give us.”
Frerin beside you, while Thorin grumbled his way crawling to his bag he pulled a shirt and some socks that he tugged on, rubbed his hand on what he guessed to be your back. “Breakfast.”
Sighing deeply you eased the comforter back exposing your head to glance between the duo around you and you asked, “Am I late?”
Dis chuckled shaking her head and you inhaled in a rub of your face while your legs stretched out shifting the blanket down more on the bed. Lowering your hands you sat up looking over everyone then looked to Thorin when he grabbed your socks on your case he passed to you. “Socks,” you whispered easing them on allowing the others a chance to see your bunny tattoo. “I don’t have to change?”
Frerin shook his head, “Come on, off to food.” You nodded and stood beside Dis when she rose looking at your mess of a bed making him say, “Don’t worry about the bed.”
Ushered out in a group you were glad that it seemed to get warmer the closer you got the dining hall. Joining the line of others at the buffet style for food you filled your plate with more being suggested for the encouraged seconds from Frerin. Thorin split off to make some tea with the others splitting up, your wake up had rippled around and while you set your plate down and Frerin settled your fruit bowl down beside his plate you spotted Mal in her own groggy spooning of sugar onto her grits Bilbo had brought her.
Lifting your knife to butter your pancakes from the tray on the table your head turned to Thorin in his pop up with two mugs of tea and a coffee for Frerin. Patting his brother on the back he turned for the food leaving you to focus on your own until you glanced up spotting Fili and Kili settling beside Mal grinning at you wider than usual, “Morning Auntie.”
Chewing your mouthful wondering what they were up to you gave them a quick wave seeing they were still holding to their nickname. Between them Mal nudged their arms only for the pair to lean in and whisper to her making her turn to you wide eyed. “What?”
Frerin said giving the grinning brothers a focused gaze, “Nothing. Don’t mind them.”
You nodded and shook your head lowering your gaze to the plate slicing off another piece to replace the one you had swallowed. Thorin returned and settled down starting to butter his own toast and pancakes looking to his Nephews in their stating, “Morning Uncle.”
“Morning,” he replied gruffly, “What did you break?”
“Nothing,” they replied.
“I don’t believe you.” He rumbled lifting his toast to bite into.
Dis settled down next with Mili, Tili and Gorgo next while Diaa and Niro settled beside their husbands with Niro flashing you a grin, “Good Morning Miss Pear.”
Swallowing your mouthful you grinned at the group, “Good Morning,” lowering your fork to lift your mug for a sip.
Diaa, “We were thinking of starting the day off with a hike if you’re up for it, we have some lovely grounds and we can swim after when the day warms up.”
“Sounds good, I like hikes.”
Niro grinned at you asking, “We hear your family lives in Lindon?” You nodded and she said, “After lunch we could bring out the pictures of our properties in the Blue Mountains to get your ideas on a venue.”
“Venue?”
You asked and Thorin rumbled out, “Gran?”
Dis lowered her mug glancing between you both then to Niro only for Diaa to ask, “Are there any specifications we would have to add for the reception to appease your clan?”
“I’m confused,” you said lowering your fork to your plate.
Thorin asked, “Amad, what reception?” His heart racing at wonder in what they were up to.
Niro chuckled at Fili and Kili saying, “For your wedding.”
“What?” You and Thorin both asked.
Kili lifted his glass saying, “Welcome to the clan Auntie.”
“I’m so confused,” you mumbled again.
Thorin grumbled out sensing your nerves spiking, “This isn’t funny.”
Fili, “You’re the one who got his beard tugged last night.”
Looking to Thorin you asked in a squeaking whisper, “What?”
Lowly he said, “You were on my back when I woke up, you were holding my beard.” He looked to them saying, “She was asleep!”
Thror stated, “Tradition must be honored.”
Dis and Frerin both said, “Gramps,”
Niro looked to Dwalin, who even in his current mouthful was trying to object while calling Balin over to help him argue. Niro said, “It is either wedlock or cohabitation. In the least you will live together and we can touch on the topic of venues later.” Her grin inched out again causing yours to inch out mirroring hers out of nerves, “Still, after the pool, pictures galore. Surely we will have a location to suit your preference and our needs.”
Reaching for your tea you took a sip and glanced at Mal giving you a silent empathetic gaze while Thorin fell silent stealing glances your way while you tried to register all this. Focusing on the food while Tili changed the subject trying to add things that could distract you all after swimming while Frerin thought on how he could fix the mess he caused with his meddling. On your feet when your food was done you stacked your dishes and glanced at Thorin in his low rumble of, “We leave them in the carts by the door.” You nodded and followed him to the carts, stepping up to his side in his waiting pause for you to do so.
Quietly to the room again you went concerning Thorin for what you were thinking but once you were alone in your room you sighed sitting down on your bed saying when he looked at you after closing the door. “I’m so sorry.”
“You didn’t do anything, my family blindsided you out there.”
“But I did something! I grabbed your beard! Ugh!” his brows shot up as you grabbed your pillow to hold over your face as you plopped back on the bed, “Mal told me not to touch your hair.”
With a sigh he moved to sit beside you, curling his leg to lay in front of him so he could look at you, “You were asleep.” Pulling the pillow from your grip he said, “It wasn’t intentional.”
“She never said married. She just said don’t touch hair, turning you into a giant red button not to press!” Making him smirk, “And I fell asleep and went and pressed it. Now we’re planning a wedding reception.” Your hands moved to rub your face, “Naneth is going-,”
“We are not planning a wedding,”
“Right, we have to get you moved in first.”
“We’re not doing that either. You are not going to be forced into this.”
Lowering your hands you looked at him asking, “I’m not having you turn into a donkey because of me.”
Chuckling to himself he replied, “I will into turn into a donkey.”
Sitting up you shifted to face him crossing your legs in front of you easing out a ghost of a grin from him, “Oh really, then what happens if we don’t get married or cohabitate?”
Sharply he inhaled then replied, “I lose my hair,” your brows inched up, “All of it. And my children will be bald.”
“Seriously? You are not going bald because of me. Or having bald babies! You’re moving in.”
“I-,”
“I suppose I can change the white and orange room,”
“I am not disturbing your plans, you’ve spent so long perfecting them.” Hastily he wet his lips, “What about the spare room back by your storage rooms? It’s roughly the same size as my room at my apartment now.”
You nodded and said, “I guess we could talk to the Bombairns while we’re here for them to paint it for you. And I’ll let you tell Roac.”
His hand reached out to pat your leg, “For now, focus on the hike we can think about all that later.”
“Right, hike, jeans or shorts?” His brow inched up, “I’m short, is there stuff I’ll have to climb over? A chance to scuff my legs?”
The thought making the corner of his mouth quirk up in amusement at the adorable thought, “No, there is a bit of tall grass in places.”
“Jeans it is,” You pointed at the bath, “Did you?”
He shook his head, “You can go first.”
You nodded and said in easing off the bed and walking to your case, “Don’t worry, I’ll sleep in the closet so I don’t end up breaking any more traditions.”
“One, we have no closet,” he said easing across your bed to get to his own suitcase, “Two, you did not break tradition.”
“Tub then, and yes I did,” you said carrying your toiletries bag, jeans and flannel with your shoes to the bath.
“No you’re not, and you didn’t.” Behind the closed door he pulled off his shorts and watched the door to change his briefs and tug on his jeans hastily. Keeping his same t shirt on he added his belt before sitting to add his boots listening to you brushing your teeth. Once again he reached over to admire your stickers. It was sudden and not the way he wanted it to happen, but he couldn’t help but be excited in knowing that you had accepted his being hoisted into your home. The room you had agreed to also wasn’t too far from yours, just a hall away across from the blue and orange room and would be plenty spacious for him and Roac until Dot would allow him to stay full time in the greenhouse.
Into his bag he reached to pull out his comb to smooth through his hair after his hand had reached up to stroke his beard. When the door had opened again he had tied his hair into a ponytail and brought out his toiletries bag to brush his teeth while you added your things back to your bag. Once he was back you both headed out to join the others going on the hike pocketing your phones. A tug on his arm however had him pulled to his relatives and you hurried along to catch up with Mal, whom you poked in the side, whispering, “Married? You should have said touching hair meant married!”
Harshly she whispered back, “Hair is different than the beard and you never said you were thinking about tugging on his beard!”
“I was asleep!” Her mouth dropped open, “Now when we get back he’s gonna move in and if he doesn’t then he’s gonna lose all his hair and his babies would be bald. First Donkey days now this!” Unable to help it Mal chortled and you crossed your arms, “I blame you for this, telling me not to, didn’t event think of it at first then I get cold and I wake up hearing I tugged on his beard.”
“Oh yes, my fault, cuz I put you in a room encouraging cuddling,”
“Was your room cold? It got so cold.”
“No, we had a fireplace.”
“Ugh, we don’t have a fireplace. Don’t even have a closet.”
“Oh that’s not good. So, which swimsuit did you pick?”
You shrugged, “Maybe the one piece since the elders will be there.”
“Right-,”
“Auntie!” Your lips pursed hearing the brothers racing up behind the pair of you, around you they folded in a quick hug then draped around Mal, “Hello our lovely one.”
“Really?” you asked making the duo look at you, “You had to do the toast?”
Fili, “Trust me, if we hadn’t Great Gramps was going to do a big speech to the whole clan. Now it’s just the closest,”
Turning your head you pointed asking Mal, “Isn’t that BamBam?” Seeing a red haired Dwarf holding the boar he was helping onto his walker beside a giant Mortar Boar.
Mal replied, “Ya, that’s Dain and Truffles, managed to work things out so he could fly her out to bond with BamBam. Just a couple weeks now by the scans.”
“Hmm, don’t know why I expected someone more, intimidating.”
Mal giggled as Kili said, “Oh just wait till he’s away from Truffles, scowl for days.”
Fili, “Absolutely thrilled for them to have the weekend together out here.”
Off to the side in the middle of the courtyard you spotted Dis, who walked over to you making you pause while the trio continued on. “I did not think it would ripple out like that.”
You shook your head, “Don’t worry, Thorin’s picked the back room across from mine and the blue/orange room so don’t worry about him and his babies being bald.”
Tili giggled and asked, “He told you the consequences?”
“Well I assumed it would be another he gets turned into a donkey situation, not being doomed to be an unfuzzy Dwarf. He clarified things.”
Dis fought her smirk to say, “Well we will try to keep any more ambushes to a minimum.”
“Uh huh, hard to imagine anyone in your family skimping on chances to ambush.”
Tumblr media
Your playful tone earned a playful smirk your way from the group only for you to turn your head seeing Diaa waving to you, “Miss Pear, you are here, lovely.”
With a hand on your back Tili said, “We’re here for you.” Joining you with Mili after a wave to Dis, who was remaining close to the house while Frerin trotted out to catch up to you. Not far along the path the tour had begun and passing a tree literally into your back Thorin bumped after being nudged back closer to you from another elder luring his hand to your side to keep from knocking you over.
Stories seemed to blend out and a few dew instigated slips had him keeping close though the sudden pop up of ravens from the tall grass had you bumping into his chest gripping his shirt. A few quick dying shrieks came from the others at least comforting you that you weren’t alone. Gently he rubbed your back saying, “It’s part of their games. Don’t worry, no more surprises.”
“You know everyone keeps promising no more surprises, but that’s the thing about surprises you know.” Making him roll his eyes as you continued on missing the grins of his relatives seeing the pair of you so close together.
A few chosen stops along the way and you were feeling the humidity of the day kicking in calling for a shower or to give their mysterious pool situation a shot. Right back to the house you went confirming to the other females that you were swimming. Perhaps a bit anxiously you waited for Thorin to change and when he came back he asked, “Did you want me to wait for you?”
You shook your head, “You don’t have to.”
“Do you know where you’re going?” He hummed out playfully.
“No.” you replied haltingly.
He chuckled and nodded saying, “I’ll wait.” Sitting on the end of your remade bed, “Take your time.”
With a nod you went into the bath and started to undress before wiggling into your black lace accented one piece. Over that you added a small wrap just barely reaching the middle of your thigh with the knotted side showing off more of that leg. A quick adjustment of your bust and you turned confirming that your backside was covered acceptably, a perfect hug of your curves without anything scandalous to your view and out you went. Over you Thorin’s eyes scanned while you added your things back to your suitcase and walked to his side eyeing his deep blue almost black skin tight short short style trunks, a style matching those on most of the younger Dwarves you saw along the way with them growing longer as they grew older. Through the lace the glimmer of your piercings could be spotted by those knowing to look confirming that what they saw the night before was on you.
Just past another lounge filled with random elders sipping on cool drinks waiting for others for cards or games you spotted Mal coming from another hall in front of you off a set of steps to who knows where. In her blue polka dotted one piece with wrap in hand she came into view of her suitors who in their awed path to her had neglected to realize led straight into the pool they dropped into. “Thorin, where is the air pump?”
Flashing him a grin you said, “Pool that way, I’m good. See you there.”
He nodded saying, “Shouldn’t take long.” Turning from you granting you a chance to quickly take in the back of your future roommate. Looking forward again you crossed the room and entered the sunlit hall with glass doors wide open, the endless pool wrapping around the corner of the building to who knows how far. You followed the hall passing where the boys had climbed out of the pool dripping wet to greet giggling Mal, behind them the clearly set up water game court sections for their planned volleyball game. Lazy river pathways flowed behind that and just past the waterfall arch separating the lounging pool for the adult Dwarves came the kiddie pools shallower with slides. Out of nowhere a group of bodies crashing into the waters followed by shrieks and water thrashing had your breath catching in your throat.
Closing your eyes you tried to center yourself from the instant burn in your scarred shoulder and turning from the water to follow the hall hoping to find a corner to sit down in. Increasingly hard your breaths deepened and when your eyes opened you spotted the staircase Mal must have come from. You knew where you were but in the midst of your body beginning to tremble eyes fell on your back in the easing of your fingers up over the side of your neck. Out of sight from the lounge you passed into the nook at the base of the steps and when Oin was seen hurrying down the hall Thorin’s mouth eased open when he saw you sitting on the bottom of the steps clearly trying to catch your breath. Closing your eyes your fingers trailed along your neck in the sideways tilt of your head. An old trick you had learned on a way of re-centering yourself in studies on past traumas.
Following the pressure points to press on your brows furrowed feeling the slow release of your nerves that had been rising all morning since breakfast. Beside you in the approach of another person you kept your eyes closed hearing Oin’s voice saying softly realizing what you were trying to do. “Just going to tilt you a hair more,” his fingertips pressing to your chin and the top of your head shifting your neck into an awkward arch that Dis and Vili from the top of the steps caught and waited quietly. A few moments he held you in the position allowing your fingertips to move an inch higher instantly releasing your nerves fully dropping the memory your body was dragging you back through. In the opening of your eyes he guided your head back grinning at you softly offering his hand for your hand resting on your lap.
Lifting it you laid yours on it face up only for him to gently turn it over, “Hectic morning.”
Weakly you chuckled in his thumb on his free hand tracing the back of yours, “What could possibly be hectic about forcing a guy in your sleep to either live with or marry you?”
“There is tension lingering in your shoulder, after lunch if you wouldn’t mind I could try to aid you through it. Leaving this could only get worse out of familiar locations.”
“Alright. Might help.”
Patting his hand over the back of yours he said, “Up you get.” Easily you were on your feet and in seeing you up again Thorin, already halfway down the hall to you slowed his pace seeing you were fairly calm again. Behind you the couple started to come down and while Oin slipped away he said, “I will find you after lunch.”
You nodded then looked to Thorin flashing him a grin, “Hey,” In his glance at the pool of children that clearly set you off you said, “I’m ok, have some jitters occasionally with rough water.”
His eyes landed on you again and he asked, “Why don’t we get you in the lounging pool then, the boys are going to start up a game.”
“Sure.” Across a mini bridge he led you to a clear spot to let you settle down and he said, “I’ll grab us some water.”
Tumblr media
Before you could answer he was gone and you softly said, “Ok,” crouching down to sit lowering your legs into the water you spotted Dis and Vili making their way to you, him with a legless chair of sorts with a back and arm support so she could lean comfortably on it. “Hey,” you said eyeing her black one piece with sheer strips sideways granting her full coverage but still showing some skin. Coming to join you Mili and Tili with matching black suits with a triangle cutout under their bust and strips above their cleavage accenting the heart shaped top.
Tumblr media
Both grinning while Dis asked as you brushed your bangs from your face, “Enjoy the hike?”
You nodded seeing the Dams settling on Dis’ other side as Vili went to fetch Dis a drink then join in on the game. “Ya, you all have a lot of beautiful land. And some very, fun birds.”
Dis chuckled, “Ah yes, their daily spook and flee. Normally they stick to the goats or sheep. Shouldn’t bother you again.”
“I know.” Looking over her face you asked, “You have fun? While we were gone?”
“Yes, played some pool and some mahjong. Had some snacks.”
Tili asked, “Do you like to swim?” She asked when you eyed Mal jumping into the pool to join playing with the others.
“Usually not when it’s crowded.” You looked at her saying, “Working on my jitters with choppy water.”
Dis said, “If you’d rather go inside,”
You shook your head seeing Thorin coming back with two water bottles. “No thank you. I hate being the fun sucker. I’m good here.” Inching out one leg that dropped into the water he crouched to sit down with a hand as support and the other held your bottles, that once he sat he passed one to you. “Thank you.”
Looking you over he smirked at you nipping at your lip in your try to open the lid on the bottle sliding in your palm. Silently he reached over gripping the bottom with his fingertips helping to anchor it only making you squeak at the cold splash of icy water that splashed across your laps just making him chuckle in your timid glance his way. “You’re welcome.” A hasty sip later and you sealed the bottle again to rest in your palms near your knees in the starting of the game. Right into the center of your pool you caught Dwalin’s drop in accepting Frodo in his inflatable hippo from Bilbo to keep him from the rowdier kids on the other side of the waterfall arch. Bilbo stepped in next to sit on one of the sunken benches while Dwalin led Frodo around, joined by Billi and Balin moments later.
Before long at a stray ball Dwalin was glaring at the guys tossing it back at them and you eased off your wrap leaving your water behind you to drop into the surprisingly five foot pool to grab the sinking toy that Billi dropped. Up to her side you surfaced before she could manage to cry setting it inside her floating ring, turning around you started to tread water pausing to return the wave he gave you. Back to your spot you went and lifted yourself out to take your spot again and squeezed your braid over your shoulder. Getting back into the game while Thorin eased in to trade spots with Dwalin you relaxed back with your hands behind you to prop you up, too busy with the game to notice Thorin struggling to keep his focus on the boy between you and him. Absent kicks of your feet and legs when the game ended had the sisters suggesting you four head to the floating lagoon.
.
Lunch was called for and tying your wrap on again you accepted Thorin’s help up once Vili and Mili helped Dis up out of her floating ring and lagoon to join you at your table. Food and your new friends while Mal and the guys were at the table with the players from the games. Under Thorin’s guidance you were on your way up to the room you flashed a grin seeing Oin waiting for you. “Are you ready?”
“Sure.”
You said and Thorin glanced at you, “Oin is giving you a session?”
You nodded and Oin said, “Best not to let that shoulder run loose at the wheel this weekend.” Looking to Thorin he said, “An ally would be best,”
Thorin nodded, “Of course.”
In a long winding path you walked beside Thorin, behind his cousin to a sort of steam room of sorts with moss on the ground and a lazy stream forming an island he guided you to. Cross legged on the island you sat already feeling a tingling in your left arm. “Now, the reason for the ally is that a trance like state will be induced,” around Thorin’s neck a crystal necklace was laid and from the kit set up he lit a candle he set right in front of your legs. Within moments your mind drifted off to the sound of distant canons as he said, “I want you to focus on the sound of waves,” his voice faded away in his guiding you to lay back with a hold of your neck that he rested on the pillow on Thorin’s lap with your legs stretching out.
All of a sudden while he started to bring over healing crystals and oils he saw your arm start to twitch. The usual methods were hardly working until in the tapping of your fingers had Oin looking to it making Thorin rumble, “She found a typewriter on Ruun.” Oin looked up at him, “Started writing stories once she fixed it up.” Oin nodded and began to use that process to ease the process along, this time much easier seeing that the rest of you was trying to guide him the way out of the nightmare that you had gotten through. Fully relaxed and without any lingering tension of the trauma in your scar your arm rested.
A candle circling above your head and slowly you were lulled out of the trance blinking up at Thorin, who smirked as you said, “You don’t have a bad angle do you?”

Dragons, Spiders, Dwarves, Oh My Pt 2
Tumblr media
Pt 1 -- @deepestfirefun  --- emotional to say the least, bit heated at the end :D
An eloping was the lead up to returning to Erebor, by then the Durin clan had been sent for and was on their way to the peak. Truly to say you were nervous was an understatement, but their arrival was nothing compared to what came next, and none of them warned you. Two years, the other Kings would bring their daughters to flock around you, Dis your mother in law Diaa and grandmother former Queen Niro only confusing things even more. It was months to the fated coronation and you had finally had it at the fifteenth Dam who dared to comment on your ring, it was simple, white gold band with a large diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds coating the band.
Your dream ring. The size of the center stone easing the concerns of Thorin as for what he could craft for you, diamonds weren’t the most desired stone for their race, in fact quite the opposite, neither was white gold. However the trio of wedding bands you agreed to in solid rows of sapphires, emeralds and one of mithril around a solid row of mystic topaz. Each marking a hope for your future and had been a loving task Thorin had undertaken to show his respect for your own tastes and you had hit your limit as a Dam from the Blue Mountains actually sneered at your ring saying, “Diamonds, hmm. And not a scrap of proper gold on those bands.”
There she sat in your tea room and you flatly said, “Get the fuck out of my tea room.” Her face dropped and every Dam in the room paled except for the smirking Durins. “I have had it with you lot and your biased bullshit attitude about my ring that my husband, the King, made for me himself after catering specifically to the design I wanted my whole life! Where I’m from pure yellow gold is considered tacky to gift someone, often gifted to prostitutes or mistresses,” making mouths drop open in her hands covering each other at the gold rings and jewelry they had been piling on to drive the point home on Dwarven taste.
“Gold is cheap and gaudy and something showing lack of imagination in the giver unless it fits the woman’s taste particularly. Mostly men wear it, in watches. Now I don’t care why you assume you can come to my home and belittle my taste because it differs with yours but if you continue to spend the time you have in my presence insulting or critiquing me I no longer wish to waste my time and efforts in preparing for these trivial daily encounters with any of you. So, Lady Kor, get out and any feeling the same go with her and save me the trouble of throwing you out myself. I would love to say it was a pleasure knowing you but I would prefer not to lie.”
In your next sip of tea a collection of the twelve women left the room in solidarity after Lady Kor, leaving just a trio from the Iron Hills, who took up seats closer to yours with widening grins fluffing out their skirts over their legs after doing so. Them being the few not blatantly pushing on the extra layers to shame your taste took to bringing up a concert that Dain had arranged of orchestras to perform for the second anniversary of your wedding just a few months before Thorin’s coronation. Until the tea was through they remained as poised and refined as possible just beaming at being in the company of the King’s family and spouse, bowing their heads respectfully when they left wishing you a pleasant day.
A huff turned Dis around after she escorted the trio to the door and back in your chair she found you stroking your eyebrow trying your best not to shake in your bubbling rage you’d restrained till now. “I’m not apologizing, to anyone, no matter what Thorin says.”
Your arms crossed to halt the trembling all together making Niro chuckle and say in a stroke of her breast length braided beard, “Nor will you be expected to. Very well said.”
Diaa nodded, “Yes, truly.”
Hastily you blurted out, “I wasn’t implying your gold jewels are cheap, they are impeccably paired and set.”
Niro shook her head as the trio smirked at you, “In my day they would have never dared to speak to me in such a manner.”
“No doubt all do to my not being a Dam.”
Dis took her seat again on your left, “That is part of it.”
“I just don’t get it! They spend over a year wasting my time, sending me gifts-,”
Tauriel strolled through the door and bowed her head to you saying in a curious glance around the room taking in the mood of the early cleared out tea, “Apologies, Bilbo requested I remind you of his luncheon he invited you to tomorrow.”
You nodded, “No need to worry about my being distracted, I told off most of my forced companions.” She nodded and took the seat Diaa motioned her to, still easing into their company as well in the steadying path of courtship she and Kili were on, part of the reason why she was chosen by you as your handmaiden early on.
.
It seemed the handmaiden that was suggested by one of the other visiting Kings who would be moving in loved to share the finer details of your daily romantic life. Those first few months having taken up a sort of game to keep your husband, so often torn from your bed, to remember just who he was sharing one with.
In the days if you managed to go a full day without his spotting you or catching your eye he was tasked to obey a wish of yours, of a particularly intimate nature, but if he did capture you he was granted a wish of his own you would have to carry out. Hiding under his desk to pleasure him or even up to the most daring risks of all when you left notes for him to find you leading to your having to catch Thranduil in passing to borrow his wrap when someone had taken off with your dress leaving you hiding in a wardrobe in the buff. He was very understanding and got a chuckle out of the event and even distracted others granting you a free path for you to flee back to your chambers.
Your wishes however vastly different his amorous ones were he loved the most, forced cuddling, once just a night of kissing and nothing else, massages, and his all time favorite when you outright demanded his singing and playing for you leading to your falling asleep across his chest. Just like the first nights before your wedding. Reminders of deeper levels of intimacy he tried to hold back on lest he be imagined to be too clingy for you, as most other mixed race couples had taken them. But the fifth wish of yours broke that dam wide open and out his affections poured freely and welcome each chance possible.
Irritation still flooded in and the second week of her tending to you in a stroll through the markets you turned to find Thorin after hearing even the smiths on break gossiping that you had spent the night apart from the King after a fight. Not the first time in learning one another’s moods and living habits in this wasp nest but it troubled you as in each time you had troubles the Dams would come flocking to your company and Thorin’s right after hoping to lighten your moods. Pulling him from a meeting in half of a panic at why you had done so he gladly accepted your request of a change as it eased Thranduil’s questioning of how to interweave Tauriel into the King’s daily life to learn his family and culture properly.
.
Huffing again you asked, “Why did they even start talking to me if I offend their tastes so much?!”
Diaa, “It’s all due to tradition, My Dear. They are bound to vie for the crown, it won’t be long now until Thorin names his Queen.”
At that your head turned sharply and Tauriel and your expressions dropped as you both asked, “What?”
Dis looked you over drawing in a sharp breath as Niro said, “It is tradition Dear, did Thorin not explain it?”
“He told me he has two years to earn the respect of the six Kings to be chosen as King over them as well, but nothing about the gold vultures.”
Niro mumbled, “Oh Dear…”
Your eyes snapped to Diaa who reluctantly said, “To be the wife of a King new to be crowned is a difficult place. The title of Queen is not easily given,” your heart raced as you realized you had been referred to as ‘Majesty’ not Queen for over a year by any but the visiting Elves. “So among winning favor for positions in the mountain the unwed Dams are to flock around you and Thorin both. You to win your friendship, and Thorin to win his affections, because, well, should he choose another to rule beside him as Queen,” her voice paused in the slight tremble in your lower lip as your hands clutched a seam in the front of your gown laying over your lap. “And they conceive then her children would be the heirs.”
A half scoff half stunned release of air you’d been holding came at the drop of a tear from your clouding eyes filling with tears, “So, he’s looking for another wife?”
Diaa shook her head and leaned forward covering your hand with hers, “Not at all!”
Dis stroked your shoulder as another tear fell, “He would never choose against his One! He is utterly devoted to you!”
“What happens, if he chooses someone else as his Queen, to our children?”
Niro looked at you with an equally as teary knowing gaze, “They would be legitimate descendants but the crown would pass through her clan, even if they never had a child, his heir would pass to an heir of her choosing.”
In a teary exhale you mumbled, “Perfect.” Your lips quivered again and you inhaled sharply and stood up with a nod, “If you’ll excuse me, I need some air.” Their mouths dropped open and you strolled around the chair out of their grasp watching you wiping your cheeks trying to restrain yourself on the walk to the door Tauriel hurried after you on the verge of crying herself at what you had learned.
In the hallway as the door was closed behind you Tauriel gently turned you the proper was as you reigned in another sniffle. Just down the hall you strode and inside your apartment you entered and froze in a gasp for air when the doors were shut behind you, whimpering out you said, “I need to change, I can’t-,”
Guiding you along Tauriel said, “Of course, right this way.” In your closet your hands settled on the island there as she loosed the ties down the back of your dress under the shrug she helped you out of and tossed away to hurry in aiding you out of the restricting garments.
“It all makes perfect sense now. No wonder they’ve been flaunting all this in my face for so long. No doubt they’d prefer a Dam.” You said reaching up to pull the circlet from your head you tossed into the basket of socks on the island puling a few stray strands out of your bun .
Halfway through the ties Tauriel said, “Thorin would never choose another! I am certain of it! I have no idea why he could have forgotten to share this tradition other than he was trying to protect you from doubting his choosing you as Queen. No one has doubted your commands so far there can be no doubt you are his choice.”
Once loosened she pushed the gown down and helped you out of the supportive vest under it leaving you in a knee length slip you covered with shorts and a sweater she pulled from Thorin’s pile you usually used for sleeping. She pulled it on over your head you folded the excess material of the sleeves in your palms you used to wipe your cheeks on the walk to the bed to curl up on. Sobs wracked you into a trembling mess burrowing into your covers while Tauriel laid out behind you stroking your back to calm you.

Behind the door that closed between you, Tauriel and the Dams Niro asked, “How did she not know about the tradition?”
Dis, “Thorin did not wish to trouble her perhaps?”
Diaa, “No doubt he will choose her. That ring is evident of it.”
Niro, “Her temper as well. No doubt Thorin will be impressed hearing she had told off so many of the seeking Dams.”
Dis stood up and promptly went to Fili’s apartment next door entering without knocking and barging into the bedroom of her younger son shouting, “Kili!” Promptly hopping up onto his knees from a dead sleep wide eyed, “I need you to go find your uncle and tell him to go to his apartment now!” Grabbing a shirt in his bare chested hop up and stroll to the door he nodded and tugged it on and hopped into his boots by the door before hurrying out the apartment hearing his grinning mother saying, “Thank you Sugar Bean.”

Halfway between a meeting and an inspection of a new set of stalls set up under a freshly repaired statue of Thror, Thorin smirked eyeing the giddy Dwarves settling into their new workplaces that you had helped design flooding the trade floors with compliments of their new Queen. A string of voices broke through the crowd however as the Dams filed out to the tea shops where the wed Dams were waiting for all the gossip on your elite personal events.
“That was fast! Usually tea is two hours? Yet, it has not been an hour. What happened?”
Lady Kor huffed plopping into a seat making her skirt poof up then settle around her, “Her Majesty has booted me from her tea room and barred me from returning after I merely tried to impress upon her our preferences as Dwarves on her choice of metal or gems for her wedding ring.”
That had Thorin seeing red in a sharp inhale making Dwalin grip his arm mumbling, “The Lady has been booted and barred.”
A blonde on Kor’s right added, “Not even mentioning Her Majesty stated in her former world gold gifts are given to prostitutes or mistresses,” instantly Thorin and Dwalin were smirking in the sea of gasps, “Not to mention being seen as lacking on imagination when used in gifts outside of watches for Men.”
With a nod Thorin turned as he found himself trembling on the verge of laughter, surely which would spoil his hiding place. Though halfway to the stalls he turned at the sea of Dwarves greeting the supposed to be sleeping Prince Kili was receiving along the way to him. Looking his half askew hair and clearly wrinkled layers over his still unbuckled boots Thorin’s heart raced worrying about what this could be about, “Kili, why are you not sleeping?”
“Amad woke me and told me to bring you back to your apartment.”
Thorin’s face dropped, “Wh-,”
Kili shook his head saying, “That is all I know. Amad wished you to return home.”
.
Hurrying upstairs Thorin entered the Royal Wing where he found Dis outside his apartment with her arms crossed as Kili went back to collapse onto his bed, “Dis-,”
Dis cut him off, “How could you possibly not explain the matter of your choosing a Queen to rule with you to Jaqi?!”
Thorin’s mouth fell open, “How-?”
Dis, “She asked why the Dams have been focusing on winning her friendship and approval since their arrival.”
Thorin, “I have no intention of choosing another and I assumed none would be foolish to imagine I would ever be interested in another.”
Sharply he turned from her heading inside hearing you sniffling from the front door once in the doorway of the bedroom he caught Tauriel’s eye after leaving his crown at the door. As she stood up he moved closer and spotted your roll onto your back and glance at him making his heart drop to his stomach at your puffy tear stained eyes and blotchy cheeks. Tauriel slipped out of the apartment certain this would all be cleared up by dinner.
Sitting on the edge of the bed Thorin lowly rumbled, “I am on two years probation for the Kings to see if I am one to align themselves with as they had with Thror. It has never, never been my intention to choose anyone but you to be my Queen. I was not aware any would have ever let you question that fact.”
“Still it’s tradition, and all these Dams are flitting around expecting you to have babies with them and just,” your lips quivered and he scooted closer to you scooping your legs up over one of his curled legs in a try to slowly draw you closer. “Expecting any kids we might have to just be done away with if I lost you.”
“They would never be done away with, and tradition or not it does not hold any sway over my devotion to you. Allow me to explain, only one Dwarf in my clan has ever chosen against his One,”
You nodded, “So it wouldn’t be uncommon.”
The withheld irritation in his gaze almost made you regret that statement, “My great grandfather chose another Dam over his wife and One,” parting your lips. “The price of which being the day of the announcement his wife killed the pair of them and was rightfully given rule over the throne as our clan’s Queen with Thror and Naino to succeed her For Erebor and Iron Hills.” His hand rose to cup your cheek, “No one chooses against their One, to do so is the ultimate show of untrustworthiness. There was no fight against her claim to the throne and no repercussions, even from his family, it is unthinkable. And though they might follow traditions trying to win us over it is all hollow and meaningless.”
“You have no idea how humiliating it was,” his lips parted again, “We’re taken when we come of age, and we are shipped around until we are paired with our Mates. I spent 6 years being shipped back and forth,” you shook your head bringing tears to his eyes at the growing pools in your eyes, “They wouldn’t even let us stay the night when we weren’t on their list of known marks. I had no one, for 6 years, and I decided to give up and live alone, and now, I just find this out, that you could just be allowed to turn away and pick someone else to sleep and share rule with. And the crown really doesn’t matter to me, I just, it is so hard believing you won’t turn away, when everyone else does.”
“I understand, My Love. I will prove it, no matter how long it takes.” Easing a chain from around his neck he slid it around yours, “There is little time left for the final task before our coronation, this marker, for the others will inform them, if any physical barrier is crossed by any female, or you find me unfaithful to my bond for you my crown passes to you and I am banished.”
“Thorin-,”
He shook his head cupping your cheeks to dry them with his thumbs tenderly in the darting of his eyes across your face, “I understand you did not marry me for my throne, but this will ease the women until the gift test is through.” A smirk ghosted across his lips, “I also heard your opinions on gold, that it is unimaginative for trinkets passed to mistresses and prostitutes.”
“I did tell your family I didn’t mean theirs, everyone elses is just so gaudy, and I refuse to apologize.”
“I wouldn’t dream of letting you consider doing so. They insulted your taste, my treasured display of affection for our union. None of them will be welcomed in my company even with a chaperone. No one insults my Queen.”
Reaching up your fingers trailed across his chest and he drew you closer onto his lap pressing a kiss to your cheek as he did letting you just settle against his chest wrapping his arms around you. Nuzzling his cheek against the top of your head his eyes closed, yet when he spoke a grin eased across his lips, “You owe me a necklace. With diamonds, no, two. One with stones that look like leaves in widening bunches alternating stones, and another with round stones leading to those stick settings,” his smile kept growing at your fumbled descriptions of what you wanted for your gifts only adding to your adorable charm and lengthening the conversations he loved on gifts he could make for you. A task to show his love and bring him back down to earth, so to speak, on his worst days and remind himself of his crafting skills. “And it’s got circles, twin leaves and end with teardrop sapphires.”
“Ooh, it sounds incredible. Tomorrow I will bring Nori over with the gem models so you might align them properly and set a formal design with sizes included for me to begin.”
“Do you have to go back?”
“No. No I am staying.”
“Good,” you mumbled wiggling closer to his chest making him wrap around you more.
“Any other gifts I can get you?”
You shook your head, “Not that I can think of.”
“Alright, you let me know if that changes.”
A knock at the door opened his eyes and turned his head revealing Dwalin in his sheepish entrance looking you over especially snuggled in Thorin’s chest, “Apologies, Lady Kor’s Adad is requesting a meeting with you tomorrow to discuss his daughter’s insults and behavior among our clan. If I might, also, well done Jaqi on your handling the Dams. Whole clan is proud, telling so many of them off in one swoop. I’ll be leaving you to your snuggles now.” He said sliding out of the doorway.
At the closing of the door Thorin hummed, “See now? Everyone is so proud  of their Queen.” After kissing your forehead again his hand smoothed across your back and he hummed feeling the tension in your back, “Would you care for a massage?” You nodded and he chuckled.
“In a minute though.”
When your minute was up he helped you onto your stomach and massaged you from head to toe, not stopping until you were fully relaxed and pulled him down to lay with you as you stole a kiss. Nuzzling your heads together another knock drew a huff from the King who sat up again and saw Balin entering, “My apologies, there seems to be an issue in Dale, the Master is troubling our shops.”
Thorin nodded, “Give me a moment.” Balin nodded and turned to wait in the hall for Thorin to turn at your grip on his braided beard stirring a smirk that melted into the kiss you sat up to steal. Low hums escaped the King in the entrancing lip lock almost making him forget where he was being called away to.
“You come back here after.” The answer he wished to give muddled into low moans at your follow up kiss in which you straddled his lap to climb off the bed and help him up to his feet. A tug on his belt lightened his dark gaze in his deeply breathing path to calm himself on the way to his coat you lifted and turned to help him pull on.
A melancholic look flashed across your face and his hand rose again lifting your gaze, “What is that look for?”
“I’m gonna try harder-,”
In confusion his brows knitted together, “Try what? My Love, you are perfection.”
Sheepishly you said, “I was late, then last week, it was mostly cramping, but still, I’ll-,”
Breaking off your words he kissed you again lovingly and trailed his nose against yours after rumbling, “Our children are stubborn, even in normal cases it can take up to three years for a Dam to know if she is carrying.”
“Three years?” You asked pulling your head back to look at him making him nod. “But, I took a test, three actually.”
Thorin’s fingers traced along your cheek and he hummed, “Children will come. Do not fret over it. When this coronation nonsense is over we will take a trip, hmm? Just you and me. Relax and take a nap or a nice long soothing bath and when I get back I’ll see to your every wish.” You nodded and he kissed you again reaching for his crown he put on, “I love you, I will try not to be long.”
In the hall at Balin’s side he felt his cousin’s eyes scanning over him hoping for answers to the question he didn’t dare ask unprovoked. Lowly Thorin rumbled a few steps away, “Dis informed me they let slip the greater details on Jaqi’s coronation.”
Balin, “I am certain, Dis-,” Freezing in place Thorin’s brows furrowed as he turned around, “Thorin?”
The King began to walk back for his apartment saying, “Just another moment.” Realizing that if any of his family had issued any tests he would have caught hints of it meaning those negatives could be wrong. Again he was inside the main hall, “Jaqi?”
From the kitchen doorway in aims for some tea he found you and crossed the room, “Just curious, what tests did you use?”
“Um, Tauriel helped me with them, uses horse pee, oddly enough…”
Thorin wet his lips and cupped your hands, “Do me a favor, go to Dis’ and ask her to help you through the Stone and Feather test.”
“Stone and Feather? I am guessing those are the supplies and not some odd title to distract the reason for taking it.”
Smirking at you he smoothed his hands around your hips, “All it takes is a stone and an owl feather, our pregnancies are long but it is a matter of omens and this one is the most sensitive for us to ready. Even half Dwarf our child would be stubborn.”
You nodded, “I’ll just wash my face and head over. She shouldn’t seem too put off if I don’t dress up again.”
Leaning in he stole another kiss then turned saying, “Now, I am off to try and not kill the Master.” Making you chuckle to yourself as he left the room again.
Balin once with his cousin again asked, “Everything alright?”
Thorin smirked leaning in to whisper, “Tauriel gave Jaqi horses tests to confirm,” Parting Balin’s lips, “All negative but I sent her to Dis for the Stone and Feather test.”
Balin grinned rubbing his back, “No wonder the news of coronation would trouble her so, she has been troubled with tracking herself. I will send my Tuka over to share our decades of trying for Lin, surely that might relax her.”
Thorin, “Not to mention Dis’ tales of conceiving this pregnancy so long after the boys are nearly full grown. Not all Dams are as lucky as Amad to have had us three so early. Even if it is negative at least now we can support her in these past few months and calm her rush to conception.”
*
Knocking tentatively on the front door of Dis’ apartment you had left a couple hours prior you flashed a weak grin when she opened the door herself, “Jaqi! Has Thorin clarified matters?”
You nodded, “I’m sorry, for leaving-,”
She shook her head ushering you inside, “No, no, no, had I been in that situation I would as well, no doubt I would have destroyed half my home before Vili returned home.”
Looking you over she caught your eye when you said, “I, um, Thorin said to ask you to help me with a Stone and Feather test?”
Her lips parted and her hand engulfed yours guiding you back into the sitting room, “Of course! Right this way, Dear Sister.” Still there you flashed a grin to Diaa and Niro as they lowered their embroidery patterns to their side, “I’ll get the bucket. Wait here.” She said helping you back into your usual chair.
In a turn of your head you mumbled, “I need a bucket?”
Niro inched up along with Diaa when they saw which bucket she brought out, a small decorative silver polished bucket etched with wolves, boars, bears, owls, ravens and rams she removed the lid to and dumped out the various spread of polished stones of every color and shade. Niro wet her lips saying, “Choose a stone.”
You looked at her, “Any stone?”
She nodded, “Any stone.”
Tumblr media
Anxiously you wet your lips and raised your hand choosing a dark green stone with milky stripes across it seemingly pleasing the Dams on its meaning. Diaa cleared the stones as Dis said, “Now, you fist the stone over your belly.”
You nodded and did so watching them carefully place each stone back in the bucket in a peculiar order before Niro said, “Now, set it in the center of the table.”
You did then looked to Dis in her passing you a snowy owl feather while Niro set up a trio of books the trio ducked half of their heads behind leaving just yours confusing you. Diaa explained, “Stand the feather on top of the rock and let go.” Wetting your lips you held the feather up and ducked your mouth and nose behind the book, clearly a way to keep ones breath from disturbing the test, and when you released it the feather remained upright parting your lips and making the women around you squeak excitedly.
Tumblr media
“I take it that’s good?”
They all nodded and Diaa rested her hand on your arm, “It is a good omen, that you are carrying.”
Dis, “Now to wait and see when you begin showing.”
Niro, “We will gather the proper leaves and weekly spoonfuls of dirt to gauge how far along you are.”
Your eyes narrowed, “Part of me is curious to know how you people came up with the tests,” making them smirk, “But the other part wants to keep it a mystery cuz I’ll only spoil it by trying to understand.”
Diaa chuckled saying, “For now, you go have a good long soak and relax, it has been a long day.”
Niro, “Besides, you should be thinking of your gift for Thorin.”
“Gift?”
Diaa tentatively said, “For the gift test.”
“Oh, I thought that was just for the visiting Dwarves.” You wet your lips, “What sort of gift am I expected to get?”
Dis, “Normally it is tradition that the gift be able to be worn. All those offering the gifts have to wear them or should they be weapons they must demonstrate their usefulness.”
You nodded then your head tilted, “That’s a bit odd. Wearing the gift you give someone.”
Niro chuckled, “My Dear, it is because when the Dam goes to take off the gift if Thorin stops them she is his chosen Queen.”
“Ah…So,” a plotting smirk etched across your face, “I just have to wear something he won’t want me to take off.”
Niro leaned in patting your hands with a smirk of her own, “Now you have got the right idea.”
You nodded then asked, “Am I able to hire someone to complete the gift? Or do I have to do it all myself?”
Dis, “If, by chance you were to offer a pelt or something like forging, in your condition it would be preferred for you to hire someone and design it yourself.”
Diaa, “To protect the pebbles from any harm.”
You nodded then said, “Makes sense…he’s not going to let me travel is he?” You glanced at the trio.
Niro, “Travel?”
“Just to speak with Thranduil… I suppose I could write him a letter…Just have to wrangle one of those ravens…” Standing up you accepted their hugs and said you were off to plotting making them chuckle and burst into a giddy fit of planning as for what was coming next where your presumed pregnancy was concerned.
.
Alone in your apartment you wrote out a full request of the Elf King, a simple sketch was made and an alluding to a certain assumed condition barring travel you had hoped would sweeten his urge to aid you in this on top of his clear adoration of your company. The request being aid with an alpaca coat for Thorin. Yes he had hundreds of pelts and no doubt would have dozens more in this test and through his life even more on top of that. You loved the furs he had, often when you first moved in together he loved coming home finding you wrapped up in one of them and seeing you between bouts of dressing stealing strokes on them, yet you refused to let him make you a fur. There was something about ordering the death of an animal when he had so many you could steal at your leisure.
When off camping in your early months he had kept the pelts of the animals you ate but that was different, you did not want to waste the magnificent creatures as a way of honoring them. You had been assured that each time a pelt was made there was no waste but still you were not comfortable with it and he had to admit it made you all the more endearing in his eyes for your protecting those creatures.
This coat would be different though, Alpacas are annually shorn and it was painless and necessary for them to be so leaving a great deal of fluff to work with Thorin should appreciate the rarity for as it came from and was designed by you. A coat surely couldn’t go wrong, and you knew just what you would wear under it to ensure he would never let you stroll through the mountain without it. A trip down the hall led you right to the noisiest part of this wing, glass shrouded with a domed ceiling built onto a ledge you had stolen a fur coat and added your boots to enter the frigid room where the flocks of ravens looked down at you upon your entering.
Tumblr media
Flashing them a quick grin you asked, “Hey, any of you feel up to a flight today?”
They all continued their conversations and you sighed, “Come on guys, please?” You wet your lips, “I know one of you must be Thorin’s.”
A bird with a single silver feather in its tail hopped closer to you on the perch above you tilting his head to look you over, mainly your shimmering ring as you showed him the letter. “I need to ask the Elf King for help with my gift, please,” his head cocked again and you said, “I’ll give you a diamond necklace or anklet if you like, nice and shiny.” At that he squawked and swooped down to grab the letter he carried off through the open window, “Thank you!” Flashing the others a grin you turned and caught their stunned chatter after a moment of silence. Straight back to your apartment you went after a stop at Tauriel’s apartment bringing her with you to aid in prepping your bath, instantly she felt better hearing all you had to share along with your idea of a gift.
Tauriel, “So the plan is to ensure he will love you in the coat so much he will refuse to remove it? Not that he would not insist it remain on you in the first place as his Queen, merely, that is the plan?”
You shook your head as you stretched your legs out under the water as she continued to comb through your hair she just removed from its braided bun. “Not exactly, more like, I’ll be wearing something under it he would not wish for me to be seen strutting around the mountain in.”
A smirk began to spread across her lips and she asked, “Your silk nightgown?”
Giggling to yourself she began to smile, “More like nothing but diamonds.” A laugh escaped her and you giggled again, “Surely his supposedly pregnant wife would never be allowed to strut around in nothing but diamonds.”
Between chuckles she replied, “Certainly not, though I imagine he might take a moment to snap out of the shock of it.”
“Just have to make certain it’s comfy depending on how long I’ll be wearing it and through what will be happening all day until he finds it.”
True to his suspicion as soon as the test was completed on his way back from Dale he caught the warning signs that Dis had given you the test and it seemed favorable making him smile from ear to ear as to what that could mean. Back again he went and in the doorway to your bedroom he froze seeing you draped across the bed in nothing but the various necklaces, anklets, navel strands and bracelets he had giving you sighing out, “Dinner’s in the oven. I wanted to greet you at the door, but I couldn’t decide what to wear.” Heavily his coat fell to the floor when his foot bumped the door shut behind him and finally reaching the bed you let out a giggling squeak at his tug on your ankle bringing you right up to the edge of the bed.
The Gift Test. In the form of a lavish ball you were adorned to the finest, Thorin had to leave early granting you plenty of time to prepare. Nothing but diamonds didn’t seem practical under the gown you had chosen so you chose the next best thing, a gem bustier with a dangling diamond crown accented with sapphires. Around that a sheer negligee with an open front showing off the bustier and crown meeting in a v on your navel all coated with shimmering diamonds over stockings coated in the same stones all hidden by your floor length white alpaca coat when you removed the gown.
The line seemed to go on forever but after a brief trip away to supposedly relieve yourself you returned and took up your place as last in line. Three more Dams all noted Thorin’s smirking glances trying to inspect your plushy white coat from afar you held snuggly around you. Still his attentions returned to each Dam to accept their gifts they gladly removed and handed over to the Princes who passed them on to servants adding them to the rest. Up the trio of steps on the platform you strode making sure to keep covered making Thorin smirk wider in the stroke of his hand over his beard. Tauntingly you gave a spin then moved closer to him, so none around him would see when you opened the coat.
Tumblr media
“My King,” At that his tongue darted out to wet his lips as his eyes raked over you in the use of the nickname you use for him in your more amorous games. “Do you like your coat? You should try it on. It’s so soft.”
Barely few inches back your hands moved and a flicker of light from the chandelier above lit up your outfit, and in a deep throated rumbling exhale he gripped your coat and closed it tightly around you stirring cheers and whistles to erupt at the clear naming of their Queen to be crowned with him in a week. Normally women would be hoisted over the shoulder of the King, but due to your assumed condition it was accepted that he raised you to his hip holding your legs at his side. Chuckling at your stunned giggles on his hurried path out of the ballroom while the music kicked up again signaling the dancing to start again in a round of toasts.
“Where are we going?”
Thorin drew back his lips from your neck where they had planted in entering the empty hall to start a trail of nips and kisses there until he could get you to your home. Almost in a growl he replied making your lips part at the vibration on your skin and hunger in his tone, “After I make my choice I am allowed a three days alone with my Queen.”
Teasingly at another firm nip at your neck you asked, “What ever are we meant to do for three days?” His answering growl into your flesh made you giggle again and start to trace his ears with your fingertips only hastening him along.
Straight to the bed he carried you, locking the doors behind you and on your feet again he stepped back looking you over in his gentle easing of the coat apart as he pinned you to one of the posts of the bed. “You-, Look what you’ve done.”
His eyes were dark and his pupils blown when they met yours, “Do you like the coat? It’s Alpaca.”
Nearing you he reached up smirking at your body arching against his as he slid his palm against your skin sliding your coat free of your shoulders revealing more of the gem coated outfit. “Alpaca?”
You nodded watching as he raised it in one hand giving it a glance before looking at you again, “They sheer them, like sheep.”
“Do they now?” He growled tossing the coat to the far end of the bed sinking his eyes over your steadily rising and falling chest with his hands soon tracing his downward gaze cupping and tracing each curve you had. Again he leaned in pressing a gentle kiss to your neck asking, “Does this just slip off?” His hands squeezing your ass firmly in his hips grinding against yours.
You nodded again, “Yes.” Tenderly his fingertips eased the straps for the negligee he slowly sank lower in his dip to trail his lips over all he could until the garment was on the floor and he was free to draw a gasp from you in diving between your thighs. Held by his hands and your thigh on his shoulder you writhed and moaned until he was suddenly stripped and standing barely an inch from you holding you still against the post until you steadied again. Tenderly he kissed your lips and across your neck and chest in laying you down, then rose again making you bite back your moan in his burying himself inside you. Slowly your hands were raised above your head and his fingers laced with yours as he continued to arch and bury himself deeply in his tender and amorous claiming of you as his Queen once and for always.
.
Tender kisses down your stomach came as you undid your braided bun and laid your head back against the pillow you’d propped up there. Low hums muddled between sentiments to your just barely poofed out belly, in a bright blue adoring glance up at you a blinding smile came form your husband as you asked. “I think you’ve forgotten about your gift.”
Thorin’s head turned and he reached out for the coat he brought up against your belly he smoothed his cheek against, “I have not. It is soft.” To your belly he cooed, “See my little Ukrad, you will have countless soft things to snuggle up in when we finally see you.”
Giggling again you said, “How can you be so certain you’re finally getting your son?”
A click of his tongue later Thorin nuzzled his forehead into your belly humming out, “Our daughter is stubborn. Soon she will give us a clue though.”
“A daughter?” you giggled out, “Thought you’d want a son.”
He clicked his tongue again and peppered your belly with kisses again, “Do not listen my little Ukrad. Your Amad will learn as you do, we treasure daughters far greater than sons.” making you giggle again, “For now, sleep my little treasure.” Kissing your belly again he rose to lay beside you covering you both with your coat tangling himself around you tenderly stroking your skin in a warm kiss on your lips, “If we have twelve daughters with not a son between them I would die a happy Dwarf to have so many living mirrors of my One surrounding me. No King would ever dare challenge our daughter. Should we not have a son Fili would act as her King should she marry, or not marry, they would rule together.”
“Really? I hope you’re carrying some of those daughters.”
Thorin nodded in a low chuckle and kissed your lips again, “If I could I would. Dis relinquished her inheritance to the throne, for mothering her infants, as is her right, part of why I was on probation. They would not have challenged her, but I was the second child.”
You nodded and giggled at his cheek stroking against the coat again, “You like it?”
He shook his head making you narrow your eyes playfully, “I love it. Now that I know you admire Alpaca fur, does this mean I can gift you coats, wraps and blankets of their fur.” Giggling again your arms draped around his neck and his hums muffled against your lips in the deepening kiss you gave him. “I owe you a great debt I wish to repay.”

Ghosts - Jaqi Pt 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behind you Radagast asked, “You are certain of this?”
You nodded, “I am. Best she learn now how to stand on her own.”
Radagast, “I am sorry to have troubled the relationship between you.”
With an odd giggle his eyes lowered to you, “It seems our world is different from yours. Where you openly converse about magic we shield ours from those unable to produce it. Em, I had to keep it from her. I had to keep her safe. But she does not want me to anymore so I have to let go.”
He nodded and sighed, “Ah, I see. Mortals do have a way of wishing to fend on their own. Even against our will to see them from harm.”
Somewhere in the portal you found yourself trapped in a tight crevice making you groan as Radagast giggled to himself gleefully on the successful mission. A crash on your right made you flinch back into the crevice when a pick broke through the stone. In its wiggle free you called out, “Hey! Careful with that!”
Behind the stone a group of Dwarves shared a glance then began to split the stone more carefully as they began to catch glimpses of you in the growing opening. Little by little they freed you and helped you to your feet on the platform below where they stared up at you inspecting you carefully wondering how you had gotten trapped inside the wall. Wetting your lips you forced yourself to remain calm saying, “Radagast sent me. I’m supposed to find a Son of Durin.”
A few more puzzled glances up at you and the pair guided you along through the mining peak in Ered Luin straight to the home of the Durins. Another knock later you eyed the elderly bearded woman with a cautious smile up at you behind the pair of dust coated Dwarves. She lowered her eyes to the larger of the men saying in a rough language, “Princess Diaa, my apologies for disturbing you. However, we found this woman in the rock wall and she stated she was sent to speak with  Son of Durin.”
She blinked up at you stunned as you forced another smile as she asked you, “Who sent you?”
“A wizard named Radagast the Brown.”
She nodded and stepped backwards allowing you inside the home you had to duck to enter. Hunched forward you followed her into a sitting room with two other women where she left you on her path back into the hall, “I will fetch my Sons.”
Another forced smile later you set your bags beside the armchair across from their couch and eased into it carefully crossing your ankles in front of it. A few minutes later two heavy bodies followed behind the heavy gown coated woman, both men appearing to be twins with long dark hair and matching short beards and bright eyes that fell on you taking in your strange attire across from their gown wearing Sister and Grandmother bearing beaded beards putting theirs to shame. Diaa stood beside the loveseat the men settled into, “My Sons, Thorin and Frerin. And my Daughter Dis and my Mother in law former Queen Niro.” They nodded their heads with their names while she chose a seat of her own.
You forced another smile saying, “I’m Jaqi Pear. I know this is a bit sudden, however, I had a guest at my home not long ago. Radagast the Brown.” You paused glancing between the brothers both shifting at the mention of a Wizard. “He instructed me I was to find a Son of Durin and to head to Erebor to see it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.”
With a scoff Thorin shook his head, “I am not certain what that Wizard might have told you but that mountain is under the watch of a Dragon. It does not require our protection. And I highly doubt any of our kin are willing to face that beast again after his claiming our home. It appears Miss Pear you have wasted your time.”
Another flash of a smile later you nodded and rose to your feet making the men rise curiously, “Then I do apologize for wasting yours. Thank you for listening to me. It was a pleasure to meet you.” You shouldered your pack and rifle as their lips parted watching you find your way back to the door that you nearly bumped into a blonde male on his way inside.
Another forced smile later you eased past him in his step aside through his bowed head, “Excuse me Miss.”
“No, sorry, my fault.” With a chuckle he passed through the door wondering why a guest would be seeing themselves out, making him hurry inside to check on everyone to see if something had happened. Wetting your lips you straightened up and mumbled, “Alright, I asked, can’t force them to go…I suppose,” in a twitch of your finger your full onyx ring released a small pocket on the top releasing a tiny onyx thestral that walked into your palm at locked eyes with you at your asking it softly, “Which way?”
A glance around it nodded its head to your right and you nodded as it folded back into the ring again on your path down the cobbled street through the mountain towards the front gates ignoring the stares of the Dwarves along the way.
Once inside Vili eyed his Wife and inlaws asking, “Is something wrong?”
Dis shook her head, “Not exactly.”
Vili moved to sit beside her folding his hands around hers, “What happened? Does it have something to do with the woman that just left?”
Frerin, “Miss Pear was just telling us of a quest a Wizard had sent her on.”
Vili, “He sent her here?”
Diaa, “She was sent to find a Son of Durin to return to Erebor.”
Vili, “And?”
Thorin, “I told her the Wizard had wasted her time.”
Frerin, “She apologized for wasting ours and left.”
Niro broke through her shock, “We never offered her tea.”
Diaa sat down feeling the weight of their impression they had given the stranger, “She did seem to understand at least, did not fight us on it. Perhaps waiting to be offered tea is not custom for her kin.”
Dis nodded, “Let us hope that is true.”
Vili smiled, “She did not seem offended in the least. Bit turned round perhaps.”
Thorin huffed then went to fetch his lunch after a glance at the time, “If she wishes to venture on a death march she can go alone. That beast will not claim another of our kin.”
Tumblr media
Outside the gates you wet your lips walking off into the vast emptiness till the sun began to set and you found a town packed with even smaller people making you mumble, “I am seeing a disturbing pattern here…” The lone road carried you straight past an emptying pub where a short man in a maroon vest was locked in a a shouting match with a woman in yellow wearing an oddly shaped hat reminding you of a teapot.
Angrily he pointed a finger at her shouting, “That house was my inheritance! No matter how many children you have you have no right to assume you could take it from me Lobelia!”
In a low growl she shifted closer replying just inches from his ear making him inhale sharply and shout back making her move away from him, “You will get that house when I am dead! And even then I will haunt that house ensuring all your prized cakes and soufflés are all failures!” His threat made her gasp and he turned wishing to strut away only to bump into your side making him peer up at you, “My apologies, Miss.”
He motioned his hand allowing you to go first only to sneer at the woman crossing her arms with a determined scowl on her face as you both walked along the path through town. Curiously he kept glancing up at you until his resolve broke, “I am terribly sorry for bumping into you earlier.”
You smiled down at him and let out a weak giggle, “No need to apologize.”
His hand jutted out as he stated, “Bilbo Baggins, at your service.”
You grinned at him accepting his hand, “Jaqi Pear at yours.”
When his hand left yours he asked, “Are you staying nearby?”
You shook your head, “No. I don’t really have any clue where I am to be completely honest.”
At the gate on your right he paused staring up at you in shock making you pause, as you readied to turn and leave only to remain in place at his offer, “Well I certainly can’t let you go wandering off alone in the dark. You can stay at mine.” Your lips parted and he added, “I won’t take no for an answer.” As he opened the gate behind him and ushered you inside the small round green door you ducked to enter then were thankful to not have to duck as much as you had to to pass from room to room in the Durin’s home.
On the opposite side of the table you sat with a smile as he slid the second plate with a fish that had three lemon slices on top of it with a side of roast veggies. “Thank you.”
He grinned at you, “Not a problem. To be honest I am grateful for the company. I rarely get guests.” After a sip of his drink he asked, “Now, if you don’t mind my asking, what brought you to the Shire?”
Lowering your cup you answered, “I, um, I was asked by a Wizard to help him by taking someone to a place named Erebor. Only they didn’t wish to go.”
Bilbo nodded, “I suppose, well, what are you going to do now?”
“I suppose I will just have to go alone.” As he dug into is fish you started on yours and shared more about your old world.
“You’re a Wizard too then?”
Your head tilted making your frizzy knotted ponytail shift across your back, “Well, ya.”
He grinned and said, “We haven’t had a Wizard here in decades since I was a boy. Gandalf used to bring these amazing fireworks.”
“Radagast mentioned a Gandalf, said he couldn’t find him, or the leader of their order.”
Bilbo, “I am certain they will pop up eventually. Wizards are known to come and go as they please.”
You grinned slicing up one of the potato chunks, “So, back there, family squabbles?”
He chewed his mouthful and swallowed answering, “More like greedy Sackville-Bagginses trying to take what is mine just because I’m a bachelor. They claim I don’t need the space. They had the Thain send me an eviction notice when I own it outright!”
You raised a brow and chuckled, “Happened to me once, just picked up and moved house, you should have heard their screams.”
Bilbo raised a brow, “No, they want me to move…”
You giggled swallowing your bite of carrot, “No, I literally took the house, the yard, all of it. Left a giant plot of dirt.”
Bilbo couldn’t help but snort, pointing his fork at you, “Now that, is an idea.” He wet his lip eyeing your face as you stabbed your fork into another slice of potato, “How far is Erebor?”
You shrugged, “I am not entirely sure. However I heard two Dwarves talking about a town named Bree nearby. Maybe someone there would know.”
He nodded, “Ooh, we could ask in at the Prancing Pony. My Uncle Mungo visited there a few times, Barliman Butterbur, the Keep there seemed fairly knowledgeable to him.”
With a grin you asked, “We?”
He nodded with a sure grin of his own, “If you wouldn’t mind using your house trick on my home I would gladly go exploring with you.”
“Thank you. I would be glad for the company.” Earning a nod from him in return, once the food was done you helped him clean up and joined him for tea in his sitting room and where he lit up his pipe and looked on at the map with you as you twirled the key Radagast had given you between your fingers.
On a cramped bed you slept through the night and then woke and helped Bilbo pack the essentials for him to carry. In the rising sun you followed Bilbo outside after his poking his head out and when he’d locked the door he watched you extend your mahogany colored wand with a thick raised set of spirals on the grip that you gave a quick swish towards the Smial and shrank it inside an orb the size of a marble on the end of a silver chain Bilbo grinned and slung around his neck. Giddily he turned guiding you through the Hobbiton out towards Bree with only a few Hobbits on the edge of its borders catching notice of your departure.
.
Nearly a full day you traveled, with a few stops to snack on the food he had packed while he watched you casting dirt into gold and silver unmarked coins you filled a divided coin purse with them and pocketed it. “Just in case we have to pay for a place to sleep along the way.” On your feet again you finished the trip as the sun began to set approaching a large gate that was held open for you in your approach. Around you Men, Dwarves and Hobbits scattered through the city all eyed you curiously especially the rifle on your back wondering what it was.
Eventually the Prancing Pony was reached and you managed to secure a room with two beds in it and a table in the dining hall. With two bowls of stew you sat ignoring the stares of the Men along the wall eyeing your packs, subtly as their eyes scanned over you you smirked remembering the Ministry’s laws no longer apply to you restricting your magic. Rapidly you mentally whispered a hex making them see what they feared most urging them out of the hall and straight to their rooms or out into the street again allowing you to focus on your meal again. The easing back of the two chairs on either side of you brought Dis and Vili to your attention while Frerin grinned at Bilbo bringing a chair from another table to yours that he lowered into.
Dis, with a grin stated when your eyes met hers, “Miss Pear. We are glad to have caught up with you.”
Frerin, “Thorin is otherwise distracted to wish to return to Erebor. Our Adad went missing thirty years back and he received another rumor as to where he had been seen.”
Vili grinned at you after giving their order for three more bowls of stew and drinks for the three of them before asking after glancing at Bilbo, “Radagast sent you after a Hobbit as well?”
You shook your head, “No, Bilbo here volunteered to travel with me.”
Dis nodded then said to you, “Well the more the merrier.”
Frerin shifted his stew closer to himself, “Which roads are you taking?”
You shrugged, “Not a clue. Just my second night in this world.” Their eyes all feel on you again, “I know I’m not the most likely to be chosen for this but here I am. He asked me a favor and I answered.”
Vili, “Why? I mean, you left your entire world to come here and face a dragon?”
You shrugged “I’ve picked up before. Not my first beginning.”
Dis, “How did your family take it?”
“I don’t have any blood relatives. I had an adopted twelve time grandniece.” Their brows rose and you added, “I woke up there one day thousands of years ago. Watched the world change, not for the better. My grandniece, she just became an adult, wished to be free on her own, I obliged. Besides the men Radagast arrived with, she’d been dreaming about them for about a year if you can believe it. They chose to stay with her.”
Frerin, “At least she is not alone. Though leaving her with strangers..”
You wet your lips after your spoonful of stew, “I have a charm on our doorways, if anyone tries to harm her they will be thrown from the house.”
Dis grinned, “Quite a useful trick. Any clue on who these men were?”
“Um, mainly just a blonde and a brunette,” their grins dimmed as you added, “I think one of them called the other Fili.”
Dis let out a squeak and Vili patted his chest and drew out a silver rectangle he opened revealing two portraits asking, “Are these the men?”
You nodded, “You know them?”
Dis, “Those are my sons.”
You looked at her and Frerin asked, “Your grandniece, can she send them back again?”
You shook your head, “No. She cannot do magic and Radagast said he could only open the portal for me once.” Collectively they sunk a bit in their chairs, “Though he did leave something there he thought I might have missed. Perhaps he might be able to help when we get to Erebor.”
Dis’ eyes locked on yours asking, “You are certain they are safe?”
After a nip at your lip you stated, “Well Em talked about leaving town but with the tracks still out form mud slides and the animals she’s stuck there a while. Plus, the guys seemed just as interested in her as she was in them. I doubt they will be leaving the nest so soon. Besides the memory charm I placed on her should wear off in a couple of months.”
Frerin, “Memory charm?”
You nodded, “It um, it sounds a bit harsh but she said she wished for me to just leave her alone. I have spent centuries alone, so I sealed away her memories of me for a while.”
Vili, “What did you do to the boys?”
You locked eyes with him shaking your head, “They were only in my home for, twenty minutes maybe. I simply planted a false memory that Em answered the door alone. Nothing past that I swear.”
Dis nodded patting your hand, “I don’t doubt that.” She wet her lips, “Mahal tasks us to send our young out on journeys at maturity, it appears this is the path he wished for them to take.”
Vili patted your other shoulder, “We will find that Wizard when we get home again.”
On your way to your rooms you agreed on a time to meet up in the morning outside to choose steeds for the long journey.

Common Tongue, Khuzdul, Elvish
Thorin’s room filled with soft sunlight as dawn edged on stirring you both from sleep and drawing your slumbering partner to wake and carefully brush the neck of his sweater aside to inspect your thankfully bruise free shoulder before his hand eased along your arm to your wrapped hand with knuckles still a bit red and swollen. In his arms you shifted and stirred peering up at him as you pulled your hand from his to ease both of yours around his neck as you closed the distance between you and pressed your lips to his. Firmly you were curled against his chest between his purred loving sentiments and promises to keep you safe. The alarm on the table finally broke you apart and sent you to a shower as you said, “For whatever reason he chose to go after me I doubt others have the urge to do the same.”
Wetting his lips Thorin let out a breath and replied, “Drarn has always had, an interest in me.”
“I guessed as much by the jealous stares when he saw you holding me.”
“Well, my first girlfriend he told her I wanted to meet her out in the forest in a storm. Tried to make it sound romantic with all the caves out there, but she got lost and hurt then raced back to the airport after he pretended to play hero and lied about my intentions with her. She dumped me, obviously, even after I explained it all she didn’t want anything to do with him or me again.”
With a smirk you told him, “Honestly I would have been more stunned if there wasn’t a crazy jealous ex somewhere in Erebor waiting for you to show up.” Making him smirk back.
Through your loving shower you traded kisses and he named his hopes for the rest of your trip that continued through drying and redressing. This time you pulled on your favorite jeans, heels and a tank top you pulled a cardigan over it you covered mostly with your fluffed out curls down your back. With a smile you claimed Thorin’s hand for the walk down to the covered patio to join the Durins for breakfast. All eyes flinched over to you when you entered and darted away after kind embarrassed smiles to look at their plates unsure of what to say to you.
Between Niro and Thorin you claimed your seat locking your eyes with hers as she asked you, “Miss Pear, did you sleep well?”
You nodded, “Yes I did, thank you. Thorin’s like a living heating pad sometimes.” Making her smile grow. Wetting your lips you added, “I gave you my word and I intend to keep it, please don’t assume I would ever do otherwise.”
Her eyes darted to yours as the other Durins’ did as well, “I-.”
You couldn’t help but smile as you stated, “Besides, it’s not the first time someone’s come after me.”
At this Thror’s brows furrowed as he nearly growled back, “Who hurt you?!”
You met his gaze, “When we fled Gondolin, there was a Man who promised us he would see us to safety. He ended up being my Uncle’s servant, tried to rob us, left us stranded south of the Brown Mountain pass after stabbing me to force my Father into giving him all our money, which he didn’t have. Just left us. But we made it to Rohan, eventually. Found a new home, my Parents found work in a bank. One day, a group of Men arrived to rob the bank and spotted my Parents. Out of everyone there they were the only ones killed, so they couldn’t tell who had done it, at least that was the plan, a coworker had heard my Father say their names. Easy after that to find them, and my Parent’s rings.”
Niro’s hand rested on yours with a mournful gaze, “I am sorry-.”
You shook your head, “As terrible of a lesson to take from it is, even if it’s the wrong one, I keep my word. You’ve done nothing to harm me, and have been nothing but kind to me. No matter the reasoning he had I don’t blame you for it.”
Thror, “We are pleased you still feel safe here.”
You smirked, “It’ll take a lot more than a Dwarf popping out of a closet to scare me off. If I hadn’t recognized him I’d have assumed it was one of the guys I shared a dorm with in Uni trying to make me scream again.”
Chuckles sounded around the table as you started to coat your croissant with jam as the others around you started eating and Thorin’s hand from your lap moved to grab his glass of juice another servant had poured for him after a soft thanks.
..
Tucked under Thorin’s arm you watched the city buzz by on your path to the train station. All around you eyes landed on your group with curious and hopeful stares as word had been spread through the released workers from the Durin formerly owned Companies that they were nearing reclaiming their former chair seats and ownership while inquiring about any willing to possibly fill any open positions available. In the middle of their group you drew more than a few curious stares wondering just who had found herself curled under the returned Durinson’s arm.
But quietly you sat nestling against his side stealing a quick nap until his arm held you through the jolting stop the train makes upon shutting down entirely between stops that forced your eyes open. A grumble left you as you stood and made for the exit. On the other side of the metal double doors the Durins watched as you hopped out and crossed the distance to the pair of tall blondes smiling widely at you. The taller of the two folded around you in a tight hug kissing your cheek before his Son claimed one as well. When you stepped back Thranduil’s hand claimed your wrapped hand asking in Elvish, “What happened to your hand?”
A giggle left you as you replied, “Bit of a squabble over some ice cream last night.”
He chuckled leaning in to curl his arm around you for another half hug allowing him to kiss your forehead and meet Thror’s eyes and shake his hand and say, “Thror, It’s a pleasure to meet you finally.”
Thror smiled at him returning the sentiment and glancing at you through the walk to the set of cars waiting to drive you to Thranduil’s cars that will take you all straight to his home where the paperwork was waiting along with a round of tea.
.
The giant mansion grew around you all and Thranduil guided you all through to the large study with several leather armchairs and sectionals across from the large mahogany desk Thranduil walked around stating in the Common Tongue, “First things first, Smaug sent over the last of the paperwork, the Stone is officially under your control.”
You grinned and caught Thorin’s hint of a smirk at your side while you said, “How’s the word on the Chairman in Dale?”
Thranduil’s eyes shifted to Thor as he stated, “Actually he’s been arrested for tax evasion, so I was wondering if you had any word on if the former Chairman, um,” his eyes lowered to the papers before him, “Oin Durin, would be available for the position?”
Thror looked over at you curiously in a reassurance that this was what you wanted, a smile from you to him before he looked at Thranduil saying, “Absolutely, when would he be able to start?”
Thranduil grinned saying, “As soon as he can make it here to fill out the paperwork.”
Thror turned to look at his Cousin’s Son Oin who moved forward accepting Thranduil’s handshake and looked over the paperwork and promptly signed them grinning as his family did behind him. Waiting patiently they listened to the list of positions that were open for each company along with lists of the workers formerly holding them they all compared to the lists they had gathered so far of the eager Dwarves ready to return.
After all this their smiles grew again as you signed the transfer papers Thror, Niro, Thrain, Diaa, Dis and Vili, Dwalin, Balin, Oin and Gloin accepted control of again. Now near lunch the Durins were holding 50% of the Stone, a third of Hornhelm, half of Erebor and a quarter of Dale including the renaming of half of each council around the few remaining members you had managed to convince to return after purchasing them. Around you there was an obvious shift in each of them, the once slumping air around the entire clan now turned to what you imagined to be close to their proud Dwarven stance.
Lunch was soon underway and more information of various details of what could come up in the future in terms of handing over more shares while you confirmed that you would be in fact a silent partner per se. Merely taking your investment carefully until you had decided to pass it all back or not since they had been so adamant against taking it all away from you since you had managed to keep them afloat these past years.
Another stolen set of hugs later you were all back to the train station, after which you had been tackled into Thorin’s chest by Dis’ girls eagerly hugging you in thanks for returning the shares again and making their family smile again. Their hands latched onto yours and they shared the celebratory dinner waiting for you all at their family home. At which you entered as a very stern Nain sat down across from the shackle clad former servant eagerly hoping for any hint of news on his assumed nearby release and welcome back again, something now clearly lost to him in what he’d done.

“One of you is having sex with me tonight.” Your two Husbands stole a glance at each other then looked back at you, “And don’t give me that ‘for the Pebbles’ health’ bit. Dis and Vili slept together the morning of her labor.”
Thorin, “Dearest.”
Dwalin, “Bunannune.”
“No, go ask them and see. It helps when it’s gone on this long. I know your kin is used to years of waiting but I’m clearly overdue.”
Dwalin, “Which is why we don’t want to tax you.”
In a weak chuckle you fired back, “Tax me? I’ve four Pebbles to carry and work around this massive mountain. You’ve no idea just how ‘taxing’ it is to find a pair of pants to fit at all.”
Thorin, “We had those pairs with suspenders made for you.”
You flashed him a weak smile, “Yes, but if I don’t remember the sash each time I bend, shift or sneeze my pants try to fall off. And no, I refuse to be trapped in thick long skirts I’ll be more likely to trip over than anything else.”
Their lips parted and your heads turned to the door as Balin entered with a smile at you, bowing his head to you first then the pair behind you and said, “My Queen, your meeting.”
You nodded, “Right.” Turning to the pair you said, “One of you, tonight.” They glanced at each other watching your grabbing your vest you all knew you’d take off and put back on at least four times today, which Thorin stepped closer to help you into and pecked you on the cheek before Dwalin joined him and claimed a kiss of his own before their traditional rubs of your belly on your path to the door. A promise of their choosing who would aid you in quickening your pregnancy along would be decided by supper time was given to you as they left for their own tasks.
At the head of the long table you sat with the main council of Dwarves while Thorin took the tasks of checking the repaired forges that were set to be reopened later that day. The usually four hour long meeting, complete with snacks and tea to be scattered throughout to satisfy your hunger skidded to a halt at your abrupt rise from your seat. All at once the Councilor formerly speaking silenced while the others joined him on their feet. In a curious glance over the group it clicked why they had stood as well, You flashed them a smile and stated, “My apologies Lord Rann, my Pebbles demand I pace. Please continue.”
An understanding smile spread on their faces as the Lord bowed his head while the others sat again and happily eyed you in your slightly waddling slow circle around the table with a few pauses to grab another of your notes for further inquiries on the issues they brought up. Since heading to sleep last night you felt a shift in your body, over the last week really your whole body was ready, but last night the stiffness and lack of comfortable positions left you to toss and turn. Each step however brought you to assume that once again your ankles and feet would be swollen at the lack of being able to rest them, but no matter what you could not sit, lay down or even walk without discomfort.
Just barely you made it to the end of the meeting, which would free you to lunch.
Your scheduled stop in at Dis’ to see your Nieces however had done nothing to calm you at her, your Mother in law Diaa and former Queen Niro grouping around you feeling your stomach and wiping the layer of sweat from you in what they assumed to be just another heat wave.
But atop a platform in a dress heavily embroidered but carefully crafted to be light enough for you with a slit down the front exposing a shorter thinner underskirt allowing you better movement as Thorn was midway through his speech your vision blurred through a shaky inhale. The squeak you didn’t realize you’d made caused him to turn seeing your pale and clammy complexion as Dis walked to your side in your oblivious wave of pain to steady you. In a slow brush your hand slid across your forehead and your eyes blinked clearer allowing you to see Queen Niro easing her hand around your other arm at your next shaky inhale. Fully facing you now Thorin watched your next inhale and trembling whisper of “Oh damn” followed by another squeak as your eyes went glassy through another painful contraction just rippling through you.
With a beaming smile Thorin turned after seeing Dwalin scoop you up and follow the Durin women up to your already set up birthing area in your royal bath. The King’s smile grew as he mentally retraced were he was in his speech, thankful for Ori’s reminder before he stated, “I am going to have to quicken this up a bit. We’ve thanked Mahal, the workers, the Queen obviously, and now all that’s left is the secondary speech, which can be read at a later date or even posted or sent out to everyone to read at their own whim. So we’re skipping that. Again, my humblest thanks to everyone involved and we all pray these repairs last for Ages to come feeding and filling our home with warmth and wealth.” His head turned as his hand extended out to accept the vase Fili passed him, with another rapid smile he bounced it in his hand to get another better grip, wound back his arm and chuckled it as hard as he could at the wall of the new forge earning a wave of cheers when it shattered. With another smile he continued, “Now, if you’ll excuse me, the Queen appears to be in labor.” Smiles grew through the crowd as the rest of the Company all followed the King on his race up to you.
.
Stripped from the waist down you sat in the shallow edge of the heated spring against Vili’s chest breathing deeply. Thorin skidded through your front door and stripped all the way to the spring, in just his pants he settled beside Dwalin between your legs smiling at you, as you whimpered out, “I’ve not been in here nearly long enough for your second speech.”
He smirked up at you, “Speeches can wait. The vase shattered, all the other boxes were checked.”
Rolling your eyes you shifted again as Dwalin propped your foot up on the end of Vili’s knee and Thorin did the same. Beside the hot spring Niro, Diaa and Dis were prepping the blankets and various other supplies as the others filed into the other room readying a meal or tea or whatever they guessed you might wish for when this ordeal was through.
Just a few breaths later a splash of red split through the water and your body gave a firm push while your Husbands held their hands out to lift the infant they all saw to be painfully small compared to Princess Dis’ daughters all three times their size. Releasing a steady breath Niro claimed the first and wiped him gently with a cloth after Thorin had uttered, “A Son.” Turning back again he lowered his gaze and guided you until a Daughter followed shortly after that Dwalin carefully handed over. In a moment’s pause Diaa shifted closer eyeing the heels of their feet to say, “Ravens.” The small brown marks on each of their feet named their Father, Thorin, giving him a second unsteady glance as they held the two silent infants.
In the middle of a pained grumble you grit out, “Put them together.” All eyes shifted to you, “Fauntlings, when in pairs are silent without their siblings. Snuggle them together.”
In an eager motion they brought over a laundry basket to lay them in instead of the single infant sized baskets, just a moment later soft coos and squeaks were heard from the pair through smiles sent at the King for his healthy heirs.
Another sharp gasping squeak left you through another steady push before Dwalin beamed down at the next infant calling out another Son, one that bore an anvil for his marker. Trembling now you gave one last push and his Daughter followed, silent for just barely a few moments until they were both joining their siblings to happily coo, wiggle and kick in the large basket.
.
Once scrubbed and mended by the Elven and Hobbit herbs bringing back nearly all of your sapped strength you were bundled in another of Thorin’s shirts and a long since set aside pair of sleeping pants over your clean undies and socks. With a relieved sigh at the ease of walking returning to you already you climbed up on Thorin’s massive bed and smiled at the squirming pair happily squealing at your face when you neared them. The laundry basket now rested in the center of the bed nestled in the middle of a pile of furs while Queen Niro and Princess Diaa went to make the announcement of the four your Cousin Bilbo assured them were quite large for Hobbit standards while he focused on putting the tea tray together for you.
Just as you settled and reached inside the basket a group of hands and feet reached up to grab yours with curious sounds through Fili and Kili’s inching path from the foot of the bed a bit closer as your Husbands changed and struggled through their lingering wave of nerves at the momentary worries for the fate of their Pebbles. Huge grins spread on their faces when they reached the bed in their own sleeping clothes and settled on either side of you beaming at the five of you and adding their wiggling fingers to the mix drawing more happy squeals and squeaks from the infants stirring tears in their eyes. In a glance between them you weakly chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, Fauntlings, even half ones grow pretty rapidly. Soon they’ll be matching their Cousins.” Your words made their smiles grow, “Soon we’ll be outnumbered by racing infants.”
Lovingly they took in each inch of their twins, both boys with small hints of beards and bright Durin blue eyes already and their Sisters both resembling you, all four seeming identical drawing Fili, now kneeling on the other side of the basket earning an eager reach for his mustache bead, to ask, “So how fast are you talking? I kinda like them this size.”
Thorin chuckled as you replied, “Not too fast, by the year’s end possibly. They’ll be this size for a few months at least. Just long enough to drive you crazy at being so careful with them.”
Dwalin leaned down to kiss his Son’s foot, “No worry about that.” He turned his head to give you an enamored smile, “Had you thought on names. Adad once mentioned his wish for a little Dwan, near the end.”
You smiled at him, “He is your Son, I think Dwan is an adorable name.” His eyes met your with a teary gaze through a beaming smile growing as you wiped his stray tear from his cheek, “Also quite a fearsome one to grow into as well. Mighty Dwan, I can hear his foes screaming his name in fear already.” Earning a pleased chuckle from the men entering the room with a full assortment of food and teas for you.
Thorin, “And our Son, and ideas of names?”
You met his eyes, “Well, if we’re keeping the name pattern I think, Thor is fitting?”
A beaming tearful gaze grew from him as well, and he replied, “I love it. I’m honored to have a Son named after me.”
In a giggle you glanced at your squeaking daughters and leaned forward to gently tap and tickle their feet making them giggle happily, “And for the girls, I think Rin and Lin fit nicely. What do you think?”
They both smiled and nodded as Dwalin said, “Lin is perfect.”
“Gran will love our choices, I’m certain. Two Pebbles each, named after us.”
In a glance between them you asked, “You don’t want to hold them?”
They glanced at you as Fili said, “I thought we weren’t supposed to split them up.”
You smiled at him and giggled softly then asked Thorin, “Thor or Rin?” Making you giggle again as he chuckled softly, “Thor first I think, we tend to linger on daughters.” You nodded and cradled Thor and eased him into his arms where his eyes went wide taking in his Father’s face before his happy squeal and clap before reaching up to touch his face. Happy tears spilled over the Dwarf King’s face as he leaned in letting him tap, grab and tug to his desire between the kisses he left on his face limbs and stomach drawing more giggles from little Thor.
On your right Dwalin inched closer to you asking, “Lin, please?”
You smiled at him as Balin stepped forward asking, “Might I hold little Dwan then?”
You nodded passing them out to the brothers both happily letting them burrow and play with their beards and hair before settling Rin in Fili’s arms after she’d taken hold of his mustache making him laugh as he said, “Such a firm grip already.”
You giggled as Bilbo said, “Oh that’s nothing, they’ll be chucking boulders soon enough. Hobbits may seem docile but we can easily best the larger beasts and Men on strength any day.”
“We’ll have to watch them when they ask to braid your hair.” Thorin met your gaze, “Trust me, gentleness does not come instantly to my kin. There will be many lessons on gentle for the four of them.”
They both leaned in to steal kisses from you then turned their focus back to the new heirs, soon to be traded through each of the Durin clan and Company while Bilbo helped you eat as much as you needed and packed in all the herbs and teas you could manage until a grunt and scrunched face on the King’s Pebbles had all eyes shift to you in worry. But that faded as they realized it was their warning for their first feeding with the King nuzzling around you.
Once full they were passed about again as the younger pair were passed to you happily settling for their meal as Dwalin snuggled around you three. By morning their names and recounts of their active and healthy states were shared through the mountain sending eager Dwarves lining up to the throne room to grant the traditional tokens for the new heirs to be collected by the young Princes. Both Brothers boasted happily about every detail about the infants soaked in by all who eagerly awaited seeing them for themselves when you thought it suitable.
..
From the deepest level of sleep you were woken abruptly at a giggling squeak from the four that stirred you and your Husbands to turn and look toward the beside crib housing them to find the Elf King leaning over it beside his Son and Tauriel. All three with large smiles greeting the four making you chuckle as your Husbands grumbled and turned to face them. As he sat up Thorin asked, “King Thranduil, making yourself at home?”
Thranduil glanced up at him while his eyes shifted to the line of Elves delivering his gifts for you and the Little Ones as he said, “Well I simply wished to come and meet my Godchildren as soon as I could gather my gifts.”
Dwalin mumbled, “Godchildren?”
While Thorin asked, “Gifts?”
Thranduil nodded, “It is customary among Elves to shower the Mother with whatever she or her Little Ones might need. Fauntlings, I hear, are quite finicky in taste, much like Elves. It pays to be prepared.”
Thorin nodded and you slid free from between them asking after you caught a whiff of your favorite treats filling the room, “Are those chocolate chip scones?”
Thranduil smiled, “Your favorite. A token of apology for missing their birth. I trust it went easily?”
Your smile grew as an Elf approached with a full tray of food and tea for you and your Husbands you thanked him for, you collected one of the scones and hummed after your bite once you’d said, “As easily as four births in a row can be.”
Dwalin smiled accepting the scone you passed him while Thranduil lifted little Rin while Legolas cradled Thor, with Kili slipping in to pass Tauriel Dwan as he happily cradled Lin and pecked her on the nose. Thranduil smiled and sat on the bed smiling sweetly and nuzzling the little girl in his arms as Legolas beside him did the same with Kili and Tauriel behind them giving the Dwarves a clear glimpse at an unnoticed weight leaving the immortals at their first chance to hold infants in near an age.
Silently they allowed their Pebbles to be greeted by the glowing trio all silently vowing to protect them at all costs through your early breakfast before Thorin and Dwalin had to slip out for a few duties before returning to be with you again. Duties through which they both agreed they had to add a tour of the Elven Kingdom nearby to grant the joy of your successful birthing to the greatly eager race. An eagerness that had resulted in their rubbing the Dwarves a bit raw at the constant attention they flooded on you only to make them realize just how much rarer infants were to Elves than they are in Dwarves, a joint pain they wished to ease at least a few notches by sharing their joy.

Pt 1 - Pt 2 - Pt 3 - Pt 4 - Pt 5 - Pt 6 - Pt 7 -
- Bit short but it keeps the story going. -

Aimlessly you swirled your spoon in your third large helping of mashed potatoes and gravy mixed with green beans as you waited for the Elf King to return from his trip to the armory for his weekly trip to check his armies’ supply of weapons and armor. The day before you had made a trip over to Greenwood in for their turn at hosting the latest meeting between leaders. Once again you sat exhausted through the day and didn’t even make it to the meeting before falling asleep in the King’s sitting room while Bard made his way through the forest.
For over five weeks now you were again in charge of Erebor while Dain hosted the leaders of the Dwarf Lords in the Iron Hills. All of whom were taken aback with your absence, but with Dis being so close to giving birth you chose to remain behind and aid her through it since Vili was covering Dwalin’s place among the guards in his absence.
Four hours of pushing, sweating and swearing later Dis and her Sons welcomed the two little girls Dis had been so carefully cradling for the past four years. And not even an hour later you were scrubbed and off in hopes of arriving on time while the Company along with her Mother and Grandmother watched over the Princess during your short trip.
Thankfully Bard, who was also in need of a long nap and Thranduil both agreed to postpone the meeting until morning when you had recovered your strength. A soft smile eased onto Bard’s face while he claimed his seat and filled his own plate joining in your quiet meal. Filling his fork he glanced at you and asked, “First trimester?”
Your eyes met and you softly asked, “That obvious?”
With a soft chuckle he replied, “My Wife, she ate that religiously with all three of ours. Couldn’t fight enough people for all the bacon she asked for it as well.”
Rolling your eyes with a yearning groan you replied making him chuckle, “I would love some bacon right now. Can’t stop thinking about it.”
“Bet the pair are thrilled.” His brow raised at your awkward glance back to your plate, “Unless you learned of it in their absence.”
“Once again, they were supposed to be back by now. And Dis went into labor so my weddings got pushed back, again, and of course I didn’t learn of this till after they had gone.”
A velvety chuckle came from the doorway as Thranduil entered and claimed his own seat on your right, “Never a dull moment with the Dwarves it seems.”
You giggled softly, “No, there isn’t.”
His smile grew and he turned his head at your biting your lip with a muffled squeak as a large tray of bacon was brought in for you. “Bacon seems to be a familiar craving, even among Elves.”
With a pleased giggle you accepted a large helping and thanked him while he filled his plate and started on the topics you were to cover in your misplaced meeting.
Fixed in your intense stare at the plans for the nearly complete construction project you had first chosen, your finger tapped on the table holding it before your expression melted when Fili inched closer to you and you stated, “It’s my face. Honestly, with your Uncles how could you be put off my a single glare from me?”
A smirk grew on his face as he replied, “You are not normally known to scowl or glare though.” His head tilted slightly and he asked, “Tired?”
After a weak chuckle you turned and led him on a short walk while you grabbed the designs before you that you used to fan yourself, “Just warm.”
With another chuckle he looked over you while you slid the fur lined vest Thorin and Dwalin had gifted to you before they left and slung it over your arm with a fading smile as he spotted the small bump exposed by your short vest over your thin undershirt. Causing his lips to part in shock same as Balin, not even ten feet away, at the side of the waiting group of council members who all bore the same shocked expressions at the surprise. In a trembling tone Fili stated, “You’re pregnant!”
Anxiously your hand smoothed over the two layers over your bump and replied, “I um, yes.”
His smile grew as he let out a chuckle, “Oh that’s great news!”
Taking a few steps forward Balin and Gloin both have you large smiles and asked, “Why didn’t you mention it sooner?”
“Well I wasn’t sure until a week or so after Thorin and Dwalin had left, and then Dis went into labor, so I wasn’t really sure about how to handle it.”
Gloin, “Well this, no doubt is incredible news! I take it you sent word to the men?”
“That um, I’m not sure I handled that properly.”
 Balin, “You didn’t send word?”
Your bottom lip slipped in your mouth as you wet it before you replied, “No, I wrote them.”
Gloin, “I’m not seeing the problem.”
“I simply just wrote out ‘I’m pregnant’, just that, nothing else. I mean I wrote other letters, one to each of them, filled them in on everything else. Really loving and then I realized I still hadn’t written it so I had the full letters already off then I just sort of sent the other one. So it’s all this, then ‘oh by the way you’re gonna be an adad’.”
Fili chuckled as Balin smirked and replied, “Well that’s more than my Love did for our little girl. Just mailed me off an ax.”
Gloin nodded, “Gorgo simply just sent all our ale and tobacco to Balin’s.”
Fili’s arm curled around the middle of your back, “I imagine they’ll be packed up and moving it all here at the news.”
With a curious glance at Balin you asked, “What exactly does this mean for us? we’re, none of us are married.”
Gloin chuckled, “Oh you’re married, all three of you. As soon as there’s proof it’s official. When they return there will be your coronation and a service to bind the three of you. Mostly likely Dwalin first then your coronation and Thorin lastly followed by the celebration.”
Balin nodded, “Mahal has smiled on our line upon our return home, none of our kin would dare claim anything other than their alliance to you as our Queen.”
Fili caught your eye and added, “Amad will be so thrilled. When she finally wakes up again.”
Your smile crept back as he shouldered your vest and stayed at your side through the last of the tour through the construction site for your last few instructions. After you made a stop to check in on the repairs on the outer halls near the forges that had been damaged in their last trip granting the Dwarves there a full look at their future heirs spreading waves of hushed whispers and growing smiles through the mountain. Not long after your stop there you were shown back up to your bedroom with another content groan when Fili had gotten a message that your meal he had sent up for was ready for you.
Once your plates were empty you rose to clear the table only to have Diaa and former Queen Niro burst in with pleased smiles from their latest nap once they had been woken with the news. Tight hugs were unleashed on you while Kili was led in to clear up the dishes as you were led into Dis’ apartment down the hall and onto her bed as she propped up and spilled all the details of the celebrations the women were already setting up.
For hours they sat around you and shared all their experiences with their births until a sharp hungry set of cries from the baby bed pushed against the bed drew identical milk stains across your and Dis’ chests. With an awkward glance and chuckle you flashed a smile at the women while Fili was sent to fetch you one of his Uncle’s shirts while Diaa helped you clean up in the bathroom while Dis fed her daughters.
Curled up in Thorin’s favorite lounging shirt he’d left with you and a thick fur as the cool night set in inside the mountain you joined the women for their next tea and meal before returning to your room to slide into your giant lonely bed. Halfway through the night your eyes shot open at the loud set of echoes coming from the horns from the front gates.
In a confused haze you exited your apartment and scanned over the halls while the Dwarves in the Royal Wing grabbed their nearest and largest weapons and grouped around you and Queen Niro while you walked to the nearest balcony that gave you a clear view of the tower of walkways that led down to the Throne Room. For a few quiet moments you stood silent until an echo of responding horns came back signaling the different Dwarf clans approaching that led to the shouts announcing the King’s approach. In a glance to your left you gained a relieved smile from Queen Niro before she stated, “I always hated it when Thror did that. Every time made me fear for an attack and it’s oh dear to brought you another boar’s hide.”
You weakly chuckled and followed her gaze to your chest from the muffled frightened shrieks from the infants down the hall causing you to mumble, “I’ll change.” At the small wet circles soaking across the chest of your borrowed shirt. As the sound of the gates and heavy boots matching into the mountain echoed through the mountain you and Queen Niro went to your bath to rinse and dry off your bare chest as she stole a teary glance at your already rounded bump that had to her shock grown overnight. Just as you added a pair of your pants and one of Dwalin’s shirts over a small vest you added a layer of cloths to the cups underneath in hopes of not having to change again a knock sounded at your front door.
In a hurried pace the Queen answered and nodded at Vili when he passed on the news the Dwarf Lords were pausing in the meeting room downstairs while the board they had hunted were being prepared in the large kitchens for them. As you brushed your hair back over your shoulders you followed her through the winding path surrounded by your armed group, still unwilling to lower their watch of you until the Queen had released them.
Barely ten minutes later you heard the familiar voice of Dain, who seemed to be locked in a debate with your Now husbands over their urge to leave the party so early, “Come now lads, you’ll only wake her, and she clearly needs her rest.”
With arms crossed the boisterous group missed your arrival until you called out, “With that round of fanfare how can anyone be expected to sleep at all?”
Huge grins slid across Thorin and Dwalin’s faces as they fought their urge to race over and crash into you. Both awkwardly tiptoeing closer to you after their eager pace to your side before they curled you in a loose hug while they both eyed your stomach under the loosely hanging shirt covering you.
Thorin, “We didn’t mean to wake you.”
With a smirk you replied, “Thorin you grew up here. You’re telling me you didn’t know about them sounding the massive horn when the King arrives?”
They both chuckled before he answered, “We did, but we hopped you might be tired enough to miss it.”
Dwalin’s eyes darted over you as he asked in a timid tone, “You have been resting?”
You nodded, “And eating, which reminds me, There is another pound of bacon and potatoes calling me upstairs.”
After a glance over your shoulder you heard Kili’s voice call out, “On it, back in a few!”
With another catch of their eyes your hands curled around theirs and you eased them onto your stomach bringing tears to their eyes while their foreheads both gently met yours as the Dwarf Lords begins them all peered and shifted around stealing glimpses of the size of your bump with excited grins while the pair whispered their thickly whispered Khuzdul endearments between stolen tender kisses.
Fixed between them you were led to the largest chair, normally meant for the King, but it was loaded with their spare cushions for you to curl up in while they shared their breaking recap of what you’d missed as the meal was prepared. Through your several helpings you focused on the meeting around you as best as you could and ignored the comments on how they could see how your children had grown so fast with an appetite like yours.
For nearly an hour you ate and snuggled between the pair until your drooping eyes led you to stealing pecks on their cheeks as Balin took the apparent esteemed honor of leading you back up safely to your bed while your husbands pushed to conclude things as early as possible to join you as long as they could.
Settled under your thick furs in your dimly lit room with the only light coming from the lit lantern in the bathroom reflected from the mirror sending it through the doorway. Quietly the pair entered and scanned around, searching each of the beds until they found you in your bed. Dwalin re-lit your fire as Thorin striped to bathe before Dwalin quickly joined him then trailed after him to slip into bed. Both carefully settling around you, leaving pecks on your cheeks while their arms cradled around your stomach pressing warm trails over your skin until they fell asleep.

..
Archibald’s feathers shifted, correcting themselves for his landing on your approach into Greenwood. Through the forest you spotted the various guards bowing their heads to you respectfully on your approach and within moments a familiar blonde came bounding from one of the upper branches to land a few feet from you with a deepening smile. With a few steps after you landed and hopped off of his back you were scooped up in a tight hug that drew a giggle from you as he stated, “Welcome to Greewood, My Lady.”
A chuckle came from him as your lips landed on his cheek as you replied, “You do know you don’t have to call me Lady. We are engaged you know.”
After a stolen peck on the tip of your nose he replied, “I am aware, My Lady.”
Rolling your eyes through another soft giggle his hand looped through yours as he turned to lead you through the main gates, “I got your Ada’s letter about the preparations for the upcoming celebration, do I really have to wear a twenty pound gown coated in emeralds?”
His smirk grew as he replied, “I think he was exaggerating, but he would like to ensure you’re dressed for the occasion. You are a Queen now.”
With a sigh you replied, “Yes, but if you add the corset Dis wishes for me to don and Diaa has chosen an equally as heavy gown and headdress for the Coronation celebration. As if the actual Coronation outfit didn’t nearly have me on my knees in just the first fitting.”
“This one is for your first event as Queen when you are granted the Royal seal and your own Throne beside Thorin’s.”
“Hmm. Just how many of these have you overseen?”
With a smirk he glanced at you again catching your eye, “This would be the first. Thror was the one to found Erebor after his kin’s home was destroyed. I look forward to being a witness to it.”
You nodded again and mumbled, “No pressure then.” Sighing softly as his arm eased tighter around his back while you rested against his side.
In a brief stop you both watched as the doors to the Throne Room were opened revealing the King in his usual lounging stance that perked up when he spotted you entering, triggering his path straight for you as his smile grew, “And how is my Darling Daughter today?”
Your smile quirked up larger as he gently curled you both into a greeting hug, as per his recent customary greeting of the pair of you. When he drew back his smile deepened and spread to his eyes that scanned over you both, “Peachy.”
With a nod his hand claimed your free hand saying, “We should get started on your first fitting, Diaa had her say on the official Coronation, but this event is entirely mine to dress and decorate you.”
On the path to his Seamstress’ rooms his eyes met yours with a soft chuckle as you asked, “Yes, but do I really have to wear a twenty pound gown?”
Another soft chuckle game from him as he replied, “My Dear Daughter, the gown is not twenty pounds, the jewels coating it will be. Not even counting your crown we have designed for you.”
A soft chuckle came from Legolas as your eyes shifted to his while you were led through the last set of halls while Thranduil asked, “Is Thorin preparing his finest to wear in return?”
You met his eyes and replied, “Diaa and Thrain are preparing him for it, whenever he can manage to find his way from the morning meetings.”
Legolas, “He’s still having trouble getting there on time?”
“Well it doesn’t help that they change the times the night before, but I think I found a way to help him out with that.”
Thranduil smirked at you saying, “I’m sure your idea will surely solve his problem. Whatever it may be.” With a gentle pat on your back he led you closer to the waiting Elleths already holding up your gown they helped you ease on after you slipped off your simple sundress. The men watched as you were draped with the intricate metal loops stemming from the chest covering jeweled choker covering a majority of your dress in the shimmering stones.
With a growing adoring smile Thranduil approached you, taking a small inspecting circle around you before his hand rested on a small box on the table at his side when he stopped. When it opened he brought it closer to you as he stated, “These are the jeweled clips and beads I’ve chosen for your hair. I think they will sit comfortably under your crown and go perfectly with the others.” His eyes scanned over your gown asking, “They aren’t too heavy?”
Your smile flinched larger after your glance at Legolas, spotting his comforting smile while you answered, “Not as heavy as I imagined. It won’t be too much?”
He softly chuckled, “Former Queen Niro, and the Princesses Diaa and Dis will all be coated in their finest over their traditional gowns as the male Durins bear their own formal robes and decorations. This event is your time to shine, The coronation is for Thorin, this is to present you fully as his Queen, the Slayer of the beast that stole their home, Destroyer of the One Ring, and not to mention your forming of a union between our formerly feuding Kingdoms.”
With another sigh you replied, “Fine. But I’m wearing boots under the gown.”
His smirk grew as he replied, “I hoped you’d say that. I’ve selected a few pairs just in case of this decision.”
When he turned your eyes landed on Legolas who bit his lip to contain his smirk until he stepped to your side to gently kiss you and whispered, “You look breathtaking. And you will be flawless.”
Through your playful glare he stole another kiss and turned, sliding his fingers through yours while his Father returned holding a small trunk with an excited smile as he cradled a small chest he set on the table he left your clips on. In a soft mental whisper you asked Legolas, “How is he so excited over this?”
Legolas chuckled again and replied while Thranduil approached and helped you try on each of the tall Elven boots under the gown covering you, “He’s been jealous of Elrond for centuries on having his own Daughter.”
Looking down again you caught the King’s adoring gaze once again as he selected the right pair for you and rose again meeting your eyes, “I will fetch your crown.” As he turned you glanced away towards the large window trying to distract yourself from your threatening tears when your mind flashed back to the Father you’d lost who doted on you just as dearly.
…
Tucked snuggly under his large pile of furs the growling Dwarf King broke free from his warm layers at the jolting instant ringing filling his bedchamber. Through weary exhausted widened eyes the ringing contraption came into view, with the scrape of a match he examined the mithril coated clock with a miniature hammer striking the bells mounted above it until he found the switch on the back. Finally in silence again he  turned the clock over again to check the time that drew back the memory of the meeting time that had been decided upon before he had gone to bed. In a grumble his body slumped back against the bare warm pillow at his side where he had hoped to wake curled around you once again. Instead he’d woken alone to this devilish torture device that had torn him so painfully from his dreams of your future.
A heavy creak came from the doorway followed by heavy boot steps echoing through the room before his head rose and his eyes landed on Balin and his soft throat clearing before stating, “Breakfast is ready My King.”
Another sigh left him as he crawled to the end of the bed to pull on his shirt waiting for him on his night stand then his socks and boots, making sure to grab the clock on his way. After his short walk he joined the other members of the Company where he set the clock on the table firing a discerning glare at Dwalin as he stated, “Thought it’d take much longer to fetch you.”
In a huff he plopped into his chair replying, “It would have, had someone not left this ringing monstrosity in my chambers.” His glare shifted to the clock until a full plate was set before him from Fili, “Nearly threw it at the wall, devilish thing.” His eyes scanned over his wide eyed Nephews when they picked it up to examine it, “I don’t know where you -.”
After a soft gasp Bofur fired back, “You boys put that back! Right where you found it!”
In an instant the King’s curious gaze was on him asking gruffly while they set it back at Thorin’s side, “And why is that?”
Bofur quickly wet his lips and continued, “That is, Queen Jaqi spent a good two weeks on that. Said it would help get you to your meetings on time. They’re quite popular where she comes from, calls them alarm clocks.”
In a short exhale his eyes fell to the contraption again, finally noticing the intricate work you had put into the crafting of it, including the engraved and painted golden face to the clock with a copy of his vows he recited to you from his first informal Coronation at the arrival of the first wave of returned Dwarves to mark your marriage publicly. In a soft tone he stated, “Well it certainly lives up to its name.”
Dwalin scooted closer to steal a better look at the clock leaving him with an admiring gaze over the skill you had shown in its crafting, “I wonder if she means to market them.”
Gloin scoffed softly from the other end of the table, “Clearly it’s her wedding gift to Thorin to mark their union, as per tradition. Seems she’s managed to sneak her gift under the King’s nose. First of the line to manage it.”
Thorin chuckled stating, “Yes, I wonder where she hid it. I’ve been scouring our Apartment in search of her gift for weeks now.”
Bofur chuckled, “Course you couldn’t, she’s been stealing time in our shops every day through some of your meetings.”
Thorin, “I can’t believe she cares so deeply to have used Mithril for my gift. I imagined maybe silver or possibly Gold. I can’t even imagine where she managed to find this much and how to have shaped this from it in such short a time.”
Fili chuckled and replied, “Cared so deeply? Forgotten her stand against Azog already?”
In a moment the image of your body on its knees between the scores of orcs before you were shaved flashed through their minds. Soon followed by your rise and brutal attack on Azog and his Warg, a heavy yet beaming memory for all present at their Queen’s fight to protect her King and wedded kin.
Trying to lighten the mood Kili added, “Ya, not to mention that daring chance she took to shave Grandpa.” Thorin’s lips curled into a smirk as Kili continued, “Had to ensure her King’s beard was portrayed the largest.”
A deep chuckle came from Thorin as he eyed the gift again stating, “I truly hope to be a King worthy of her affections.”
Bifur lowered his fork after finishing his large pile of food, “Oh you are, you know you must be to have even claimed her eye at all.” His comment drew the King’s misty eyes up to his to share a confirming nod, knowing it must be the truth and truly proved your pairing as Ones.
Holding his smile Thorin looked to his plate finally and started eating as Dis, fully dressed and primped for the day, entered and bowed her head to her Brother and King. Her proud smirk remained as she claimed her seat beside Fili as she eyed your empty seat at Thorin’s side before asking, “Is our Queen still resting?”
Thorin shook his head, “If I remember correctly, she mentioned a fitting for her gown in Greenwood today.”
Her eyes left her plate as a serious expression claimed the place of her former smile as she fired back, “With the Elf Prince? But your consummation probation is not concluded yet.”
With a raised brow Thorin exhaled, quickly causing her disapproving expression to drop, “I trust my Wife, besides, King Thranduil will not let them out of his sight and she’s due back for the noon meeting in the forges about her armor.”
Her exhale followed before her briefly pursed lips parted and she asked, “Is there any chance to start our counting yet?”
Thorin’s eyes shifted to hers as he released a timid breath as he stated, “Yes.”
The corners of her mouth twitched up as she raised her tea cup to her lips softly saying, “Let’s hope she is as cared for by Mahal as she is Ulmo and bring us more heirs before the decade ends.”
Unable to find the proper words to respond Thorin simply growled under his breath and ordered, “If there is news of any heirs you all will be among the first informed, until then kindly leave the topic between my Queen and I.” Dis’ head turned to face him with a shocked expression as he continued, “I mean it Dis, her former people were not so harsh on expecting heirs. We have no knowledge on their handling of the stress of Dwarfly expectations. Jaqi already mentioned her former race only carrying for nine months.” Her lips parted at the short time you would have to prepare, years shorter than she had for her boys, “If Mahal is gracious she may yet give birth before you. So tread lightly, she is a Wizard but none before have carried to give us a clue on what to expect. She’s respected our traditions to have Prince Legolas stay in Greenwood for three months to ensure lineage of any possible heir.”
Curtly she gave an agreeing nod before stealing a glance at her obvious baby bump around her confirmed twins that were due in just under two years, a wait well worth taking for any Dam blessed by Mahal for the task. Gently her formerly calloused hand eased across her thick gown coating said bump as she mentally etched her agreement into her mind for her daily collisions with you before she claimed another sip of her tea.
Silently through the meal Thorin’s mind ran back through your slightly awkward start to your deeply loving night together, finally consummating your union. Something he hadn’t expected to happen, merely something that had been not so subtly hoped for by all Dwarves after your public confirmation of your union. But something that he no less treasured and enjoyed, as it being solely between the pair of you and could possibly one day grant him the true binding of you both in the raising of your possible Children.
… The day before ...
Locked safely behind your doors after yet another long day of meetings and errands between the few official openings you had been asked to do for a few shops in the Markets you entered your new bedroom and stripped out of your outer layers. With a sigh you walked through to your shared bath and washed your face, making sure to keep your courtship and marriage beads dry. Stealing a moment to catch your reflection and the two hair clips from your still short braided right half of your hair that had been pinching you for the past few hours after you’d rested your head against your hand. They softly clinked as you left them in their box by the sink and returned to the bedroom, strolling in casually in your blue lace panties and bra you’d hoped to draw at least some reaction from Thorin when you passed him on his trip out of the bath earlier that morning.
Only a peck on the cheek and a near burning on your back when he’d walked past you to dress for his early meeting, leaving you your only choice to dress for yours. Two weeks you’d been assured each night alone together in hopes of your producing an heir, but in that time your curiosity and insecurity had grown at his constant snuggling and loving nature that never seemed to push past that. If there was a sign you were meant to give you had surely missed out on that lecture from Dis on her near constant ribbing at your does and don’ts in your new position as Queen.
With another scan around the room you sighed and headed to Thorin’s office to look over his selection of books and claim your choice for the night. After a few moments you locked on your choice and flipped open the front cover as you sat in his large chair, and shifted to rest your legs on one of the arms. Barely five pages in your eyes rose to land on the stunned King who promptly puffed up, blocking the view of whoever was behind him stating firmly, “We will continue this tomorrow.”
Quick footsteps followed towards the front door after a soft, “Of course My King.” From a voice you’d assumed to be his latest scribe while Ori was out in Dale with Tauriel for the reforming and recovering of their records.
After his confirming glance to the front door that you were alone you watched his eyes darken as they scanned over your legs, draped so casually over the arm of the chair up to the book currently leaving him with the illusion you were completely nude behind it. Dryly he swallowed and softly stated, “Sanzgil-kaiku, I didn’t realize you were in here or I would have left my scribe outside.” (Mithril Chuck)
A soft smile eased across your lips drawing his eyes to them as you replied, “It’s alright. I managed to slip past Dis for her daily ‘lesson’ for once.” As your smile shifted to a smirk you continued, “Am I in your way?”
His head shook, “No, I simply came to retrieve a book.”
“Which one?”
His eyes lowered to the book across your chest with another dry swallow as he replied in a near trembling voice, “The one you’re holding.”
Drawing in another trembling voice he swallowed again when your legs lowered and you shifted in the chair keeping your eyes locked on his as you asked playfully, “And just what do I get for it?”
In another scan over you his tongue flicked out to wet his lips before he asked barely above a whisper, “What would you want for it?”
A flip of the cover later his eyes trailed over you in your rise, in one motion you closed the book and set it on his desk, crossing to the door his lips parted at your simple lace layer in his family color. Barely a foot from him your hands eased under his outer fur lined vest and eased it off of his shoulders as you stepped around him and whispered, “That, My King would require fewer layers and our bed.”
A simple reach of his fingers looped his with yours to follow you to your room where you tossed his vest on the chest beside the bed and turned accepting his crashing kiss before his arms circled you and carried you to lay you out over the thick furs on your bed.
… After your fitting ...
Out of your jeweled layers you slipped back into your simple dress and ran your fingers through your free hanging hair over your left shoulder while you stepped around the changing screen at the Seamstress’ urging. Stepping around the screen again your eyes landed on the Elf King carefully securing your jewels back in their cases and he stated without looking at you and Legolas when his arms looped around your middle, “Don’t worry, I’m not looking.”
After your soft chuckle you snuggled against his chest while you asked, “You do realize I have a bit more control than to jump on him right here right now in front of you.”
Thranduil straightened up as he chuckled and turned to face you both eyeing his Son’s smile deepening as his cheek met the top of your head, “I am aware, but the Dwarves have their rules, not unlike ours for after your marriage. And hopefully your first heir is born.”
With a sigh your head turned to press your forehead against Legolas’ chest as you mumbled, “How is everyone just alright with this?”
Legolas chuckled and pressed a kiss to the top of your head and smiled wider as Estel sped into the room and crashed into your legs joining your hug while Legolas mentally replied, “It’ll be our time to wed soon enough Love. Any Child of yours will be greatly loved, by all of us.”
Releasing you, he bent and raised Estel to his hip allowing him to curl his arms around your neck for a tight hug as he mumbled against your shoulder, “No one said you were coming today! I spotted Archie outside!”
You giggled softly and joined Legolas to take Estel out to the gardens to play, stealing as much time together as you could before you had to fly back to Erebor with a firm promise to Estel that Legolas and Thranduil could bring him the following day for a guitar lesson. His small wave faded from your view as Archibald headed out over the forest after your last stolen kiss from Legolas, who jumped right back into pulling Estel into play mode. Happily he cradled and chased the small boy who’d lovingly been passed from Elrond’s care at Estel’s wish to stay with the pair of you and growing smile any time he was complimented on how much he resembled the pair of you. Mainly his eyes and your dark curls and contagious giggle.
.
Turning forward again you focused on your flight back and the tasks ahead, counting down the days until your mingled family could mix again and Estel could actually sleep in the bedroom you had set up for him longer than a short visit. Upon your landing you flashed a brief smile at the guards parting for you on the overlook for your walk back up to the meeting floor as Archie shrank and followed you until you reached the last hall and he turned to return to your apartment to rest for the day during your meetings. A short walk later your hand was clutched tenderly in the King’s as he appeared at your side and whispered, “A moment My Queen?”
With a creeping smile you followed him into one of the empty rooms nearby, where he closed the door behind you and promptly cupped your cheek for a crashing yet tender kiss as he pinned you against the solid door you’d barely slipped through. A pair of soft sighs left you through the stolen moment, when your lips broke apart he spoke in a hushed rumble, “I wanted to thank you for your stunning, yet startling gift.”
In a breathy chuckle you earned a chuckle from him in return, after your brief peck on his lips you replied, “I just wish I could have been there to calm you after you jumped.”
A seep grumble came from him as his head dipped to the crook of your neck and he clutched you tightly, “I wish you didn’t have to have left our bed so early.” With a sigh he pulled back to gently peck your cheek before rumbling in a protective growl, “How were the Elves? Did they treat you well?”
Softly your nose eased against his, deepening his smile, “Of course. Estel managed to steal me away after. And I’m sure you will be thrilled to know I will have jewels coating me from my neck down, not counting the new crown they forged for me.”
An approving rumble came from him, “Well we certainly agree on coating you in jewels.” Wetting his lips his eyes lowered to your lips, “Last night-,”
Another grumble came from him at the soft knock on the other side of the door while you bit your lip to hold back your giggle at the throat being cleared on the other side of the door followed by a soft, “Your Majesties-.”
Raising your hand your fingers eased through his growing beard drawing a smirk from the King as you pressed against his chest, leaning closer to whisper against his ear, “I’m wearing Silver lace today.” Your bottom lip pinned between your teeth as his free hands moved from your back over your ass to steal a firm squeeze as he groaned as he buried his head in the crook of your neck. After a breathy chuckle your fingers dug another trail through his beard as you continued, “At 5 I’ll be in bed, a quarter after I want you there with me,”
In a pained growl against your neck he replied, “My last meeting is at four.”
A soft gasp left him as your teeth gently nipped at his ear earning a firmer squeeze on your ass when you replied through a repeat of the throat clearing on the other side of the door, “Ten after, I’ll be naked under our furs. You’re the King, but for this, until there’s an heir, I will be very, demanding of your time.”
Your fingers eased through his beard again through his gentle growl against your neck while his lips hungrily left a heated kiss there forcing you to bite your lip again.
Another growl came from the King from the next knock before Dis’ voice could be heard shooing away her Cousin at the door while Thorin inhaled shakily and eyed you again with his same darkening gaze while he inched his outer vest closed under his thick belt to cover his arousal from others.
His lips curled into another smirk when you stepped closer again to help his covering and you gripped the lining around his collar as you planted your lips against his earning yet another muffled low growl from him as he melted against you to gasp at your parting before his fingers rose to run along the braids bearing his beads that draped across your face and he rumbled, “I’ll be there at 5.” His last words landed barely a breath away from your lips before he stole another kiss then inhaled deeply again, claiming your hand and leading you back out again to take your seats in the meeting.
Barely five hours later, as your last layer over your lace hit the floor your legs tucked under the furs you pulled over yourself at the crash at the front door. In a glance at Sparky along the open doorway your pulse spiked until you heard the door close followed by heavy pants as Thorin called out, “It’s me, My Queen.” A dozen heavy steps later he stopped in the doorway undoing his outer belt over his vest with a chuckle continuing, “I owe a short list of very confused merchants a very lengthy apology in the morning.”
A curious smile ghosted across your lips asking, “What did you do?”
He chuckled again, “Had to jump over their stall to get past a mob of browsing Dams.” Layer by layer his clothes, boots and crown hit the floor as you stripped your only remaining layer right on time while he slid under the covers as your arms curled around his neck and you playfully quipped back, “All that to be on time?”
He chuckled lowly as he peppered a trail of warm kisses along your neck, “No My Queen, I did that, to get here early.” Earning a giggle from you as his lips pressed firmly against your neck.
Barely a few days of your mandated seclusion left you woke in your usual fur coated cocoon with your King draped partially across your chest resting in his same nuzzling grip through his deep rumbling breaths. Blinking in the darkness under the covers your brows furrowed as your right hand left Thorin’s warm bicep to shift to your stomach as he stirred at your shifting. Another rumble sounded against your neck while he brushed back your covers to your shoulders with a peck on your cheek mumbling, “Can’t sleep?”
Unable to find the words your fingers curled around his hand stirring a smirk from him at his assumed intentions of the action only to drop when you pressed it to your stomach causing his eyes to dart to yours when you whispered, “I feel something.”
His smile grew and his lips gently met yours before his forehead pressed to yours, through a growling exhale from him you reached back to turn off his alarm allowing his hands to remain as long as he could manage on your stomach. Reluctantly he rose from bed and dressed with a grin at your claiming one of his shirts that barely reached your mid thighs with slits well up to your waist. A smile came from Balin at his fetching Thorin as he eyed your loose curls swooped as usual over your left side as you gazed down at Thorin when he knelt and curled his arms around you through his lips pressing to your stomach dropping Balin’s jaw. A soft giggle left you as his teary eyes met yours when Thorin rose and softly pled, “Send for the Elves, Thranduil’s healers should know for sure.”
You nodded, “I’ll ask Archie to go, he’s been pooling up vitamins for me just in case, I’m sure I’ll have barrels full by nightfall.”
His lips met yours for another gentle kiss as his hand stroked your cheek and his teary eyes met yours with a loving sparkle, “Rest as long as you like, Dis and Mother will cover your tasks today until we’re certain and Bombur will have your meals delivered to you.” After another teary loving gaze he curled you tightly into a hug then left to finally face his day, anxiously awaiting the news and praying for Mahal to aid your owl’s flight swiftly when he caught his path to the overlook.
.
Tucked safely in the armchair of your sitting room you smiled up at Bombur, Bifur and Bofur who all were granted the day off to tend to you, each with hopeful teary gazes until Archie flew back through the small messenger bird door above your front door signaling Bifur to race and open the door for the equally as anxious Elf King with Legolas and Estel in tow. Merely a glance at you and their smiles grew as they scanned their eyes over you and gave a confirmation to Bifur who looked over Thorin’s set schedule for that day and raced through the mountain to spread the news. As you rose to your feet Thranduil left his jars of vitamins and teas he was cradling for you on the table he passed before he curled you into a sweet hug, closing his eyes while his arms circled you and his lips met the top of your head before his smile deepened.
His icy blue teary eyes locked with yours as he rested his hands on your shoulders stating shakily in Elvish, “You are going to be an incredible Naneth.”
As he stepped back Legolas stepped forward while Bofur and Bombur both claimed the teas to brew you a mug full while you curled snuggly in the Princes arms after he lovingly stole a kiss and whispered in Elvish, “I love you. We’re here now to aid you through this, My Love.” With a smile you smiled at Estel as he shifted in Legolas’ arms with lips smacking causing the Prince to say, “I’ll put him in his bed.”
You nodded and sat back in your chair accepting Thranduil’s help at covering your legs again until his hand found the hilt of a hidden blade on him at the sudden crash at the door while his body spread to block your figure. Softly you giggled and whispered, “Thorin forgets to stop sometimes.”
Removing his hand and shifting aside Thranduil rose again, with a soft smile at the panting King who crossed the room and knelt at your feet curling his arms around your middle with his forehead against your stomach while your fingers worked through his pooling mane of hair. Quietly your tea was passed to you while he rose and gently slid you onto his lap, making sure to cover your legs while Thranduil assured Thorin you at least would have the full Elven term to prepare. Quiet nods came from the Dwarf King as his hands settled on your stomach around your middle before he agreed to the set upon plan of the Prince moving back in with Estel as well while Thranduil stayed for frequent visits to help keep an eye on you. All this while the echoes of cheers from the news being spread through the mountain brought even the most exhausted Dwarf from his slumber to join the celebration at the news of the future heir.
