Plaza at Arya in BGC | Manila’s Best Kept Al Fresco Dining Destination
Tucked away in the quieter section of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) along McKinley Parkway is The Plaza at Arya Residences or more popularly known as Arya Plaza, fast shaping to become a premier gustatory destination on its own and described by many as Manila's best-kept al fresco dining hotspot.
Tumblr media
Arya Plaza sits cozily several meters above the road and is surrounded by verdant greens and scenic landscapes, giving patrons a one-of-a-kind intimate dining experience far removed from BGC’s busy streets mere minutes away. An innovative masterpiece inspired by the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade in Milan, Arya Plaza was meticulously designed to funnel in cool breezes even during the hottest months and is protected by an imposing canopy made of corrosion-and-extreme-temperature-resistant ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene).
This world-class feature is the same impressive translucent insulation material that was used in Singapore’s Clark Quay and the Beijing National Aquatic Center (Water Cube). Arya Plaza houses the first ETFE canopy of its kind in the Philippines, creating an exceptional retail and dining experience in a controlled outdoor environment.
Yet the real star—or indeed stars—of this remarkable destination is, of course, its carefully curated dining establishments.

1. Lemuria
One of them is Lemuria Restaurant and Wine Bar, which is the BGC (and only second) branch of this highly popular restaurant originating from Quezon City’s Horseshoe Village. Unlike its predecessor, however, this branch features a more classic meets contemporary ambiance in keeping with its new home. Yet, the same romantic and charming vibe is present with restaurateur and wine expert Mrs. Marina Schroeder’s personal touches, which can be seen in the thoughtfulness of the food, the wine, and the curated décor.
With signature dishes like their Duck Leg Confit, Foie Gras Trio, and Prawn with Feta Cheese, many will agree that Lemuria serves the most sumptuous French Mediterranean cuisine in the metro.

2. Savage
Savage, the brainchild of Chef Josh Boutwood. Savage is all about stripped-down cooking. Chef Josh Boutwood describes Savage as a “pre-industrial cuisine restaurant” where everything at some point touches the grill. One might describe Savage and its cooking primal, but at the heart of Savage, the hearth is the focus. Savage has done away with thermometers and instead use the chefs’ instincts, the heat, and the texture of the food to determine whether the dish is ready to be served. Each dish on the menu including their desserts utilizes fire at some point during its cooking and preparation process.
Their signature dishes include Barramundi, Arugula, Preserved Lemon and Olive; Deviled Eggs, Smoked Oil, and Ash; and Pork Belly, Cola, Pineapple.

3. Martin Place Social
Named after a popular Sydney spot, Martin Place Social features the laid-back attitude the Land Down Under is known for with a South East Asian backbone. Here, fresh ingredients are sourced locally while meats are imported from an organic farm in Australia.
Best known for their Auburn Flat Bread Bianco, Aussie Beef Short Ribs, and Baked Atlantic Salmon, Martin Place Social features beloved Filipino one-pot wonders like sinigang and adobo. Founded by Filipino-Australian Rachelle Banta-Yilmaz, this concept restaurant also doubles as a friendly events venue and a training institute under Ausphin International Institute.
The institute has sent many Filipino chefs to work in iconic restaurants all around Australia and Ausphin International Institute-trained chefs also make up the formidable kitchen crew of Martin Place Social.

4. The Red Piano RestoLounge
Then there’s The Red Piano RestoLounge, best described as being an eclectic gastropub-cum-piano bar, featuring a wide variety of comforting flavors in a casual, yet exclusive setting. It offers fares inspired the travels of its owner, Chef Carlo Llave, and his friends who conceptualized the restaurant together, which range from their seriously delectable San Fran Clam Chowder in sourdough bread to Chef-favorite Osso Bucco to their signature Boeuf Bourguignon.
However, the real hero of this place can be found in its second floor where one can hear a bright, red piano in action. This place is indeed the perfect spot in BGC to grab a bite, drink, celebrate, and even sing with your friends.

5. Fukuduya
Lastly, Fukudaya Japanese Dining is a modern-traditional Japanese restaurant with authentic specialties based on the freshest ingredients available for the day or flown in from Japan. The interiors and ambiance of this little gem offer a relaxing respite with its eclectic ambiance and open kitchen prominently displayed for guests of this go-to destination.
If you’re into a relaxing casual Japanese dinner with authentic flavors, Fukudaya’s specialties include the eponymous Fukudaya Roll, a dish composed of 8 traditional Japanese Maki with a selection of diverse toppings – sea urchin, roast beef, duck, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, crab stick salad, shrimp and negitoro. The highlight of the night is watching the restaurant’s Japanese sushi chefs prepare your meal in that signature meticulous fashion.
