This is me, THINKING HARD at the recording session for our first Mandarin album.
I'm trying to work out some alternative Mandarin to English vocabulary in this pic.
Back in January 2017 I wrote the 13 songs for Bambini Lingo Album 1, all in English, the next task was to translate them into French, Spanish, German, Italian and Mandarin, correctly and sensitively, while still keeping to the target pre-school vocabulary.
Here we’d hit a stumbling block as the first verse in our Action’s song couldn't be translated into Mandarin!
What do you mean we can’t have Hop! Skip! and Jump! ????
We managed to adapt it to Wave, Clap and Jump! Which is actually more relevant to our little-est language learners, who are still sitting on their mummies laps!

Picture Chinese for the things we see around us! 💡Let's look at the 4th category of Chinese character formation today. It is "phono-semantic" compound. Chinese characters in this category is formed from another character adding on additional parts or another word to it. This new character has a similar pronunciation of its original character. Example of characters in this category: 河 - hé (氵water radical is added to 可 kě character and formed 河 - river. ) ❤️How do you like today's language fact about Chinese? 🌺Today we spot "ice cubes" - bīng kuài 冰塊| 冰块(塊 character has a simplified Chinese form). ✏️冰 character has the radical on the left side: 冫bīng and it means "ice". On the right you see the character 水 shuǐ. 水 is a radical itself and it means "water." ✏️塊 character has the radical on the left side: 土 tǔ and it means "earth, soil." 塊 means "block, piece." So you have ice and block then that is "ice cube." ❤️Radicals give clues to the meaning of a word. 👀Watch Picture Chinese on YouTube-MissPandaChinese channel and listen to the pronunciation of each word, phrase, and sentence. #misspandachinese #picturechinese #chinese #language #world #china #taiwan #hongkong #Singapore #chinaadoption #heritage #learnchinese #learningchinese #Chineseforkids #mandarinforkids #homeschool #homeschooling #beginnerchinese #bilingualkids #mkbkids #youtuber #mommyblogger

5 Potent Benefits of Learning Chinese for Kids
Learning a foreign language, a second language, or a community language benefits kids not just from being able to speak another language. Here are the five big benefits of learning Chinese for kids:
1. Improve academic performance overall. Learning a foreign language increases children’s awareness of their first language. It also helps in learning mathematics as the Chinese language expresses mathematical concepts more clearly.
2. Gain invaluable cross-cultural skills for working or living in the Chinese culture.
3. Enhance children’s multitasking skills as the process of learning a language trains the executive function of the brain to be able to multitask better.
4. Broaden career and scholastic opportunities.
5. Expand their way of thinking by learning a language that is very different from European languages.
