I truly have to wonder if anyone who is co-signing that letter has ever been a fan of someone who isn’t Top 40/pop star before in their life. Because a lot of the takes I’m seeing really seem to think the only metric for success is - to be perfectly honest - Harry StylesTM. But there are tons of ways to be a working musician with a supportive fanbase that allows the musician to feel successful.

A lot of the perks that Louis fans enjoy right now, the things they LIKE about Louis, only exist because he ISNT this major star. @crinkle-eyed-boo mentioned in her post meeting him at Rough Trade and YES EXACTLY. Being able to meet him, in fucking person, to be able to have this memory of interacting with him - to hope maybe I made him laugh (I did. I also made him swear so loud people behind me heard 🤣)? I don’t get that with a lot of artists I follow. But I got to have it with Louis.

I get fans want him to play big stadiums or to feel validated when they say “I’m a Louis Tomlinson fan” instead of being met with a blank stare but honestly? It’s everyone else’s loss if they don’t want to listen him.

What I’m trying to say is this: the grass isn’t greener on the other side (there will be things you won’t like if he gets as popular as you want him to be), our metric of success isn’t necessarily Louis’, and at the end of the day Louis’ success and promo is not our responsibility.
