Dancing with the Stars Season 32 Week 3: Motown and I Have a Confession

So listen. It has taken everything in me to sit down and get this done this week. And I have to say that this recap is not gonna be your typical recap. I'm not really gonna talk about any of the dances because I have no desire to do so. I'm bored and it's the first time I have EVER felt like this show. I stop tweeting about it halfway through. I stop watching and leave to go home. My attention is pulled by twitch, tik tok, twitter and other things. I'm just not feeling it this year. Nothing is hitting the way that it should and it has.

So can we talk? Let's talk. I'm gonna just be honest here. I feel like this is a bad cast. Or maybe they paired them off wrong? Idk, but it is not working and that's the main problem. Outside of Barry and Peta, Lele and Brandon and Jason and Daniella, I don't care for any of these couples. None of them excite me. They're either a redux of a past partnership or they're so mismatched that the energy is completely off. It's really affecting the show.

I think I'm also ready to talk about hosting now. It's very dry. I'm so sorry. I know y'all hated Tyra, for whatever reason, but even with the problems (not all her fault), she kept the show interesting. I don't feel any interest when I'm watching Alfonso and Julianne. And y'all know that I love Julianne. She's my girl. But I don't think she works in a hosting capacity. I think she's much better as a judge. I would've much rather had her be the fourth judge and grab another past contestant with hosting experience to be with Alfonso. Why not have Vanessa Lachey? Maybe Jeannie Mai or Amanda Kloots as well. I know both of them are busy on other networks, but still. I just don't think hosting is the best fit for Julianne. I'm gonna continue to give her grace and let her grow as the season goes, but there's a concern for me there. Also Alfonso is not hosting the way I would've expected him to. He's not a stand up comedian, but he's witty and I feel like I'm expecting him to do more than he's doing. Idk. Hosting is hard so I'm going to give them both grace. But I am truly bored.

Now let me talk about the judging. I'm noticing that the judges are being very hard with scoring on the bottom scoring couples and being extremely lenient with the top 4 dancers this season. No one this season is good enough to be getting 9s right now. The best dance of the night was Jason and his feet were atrocious. 9s weren't deserved. Xochitl got some weird things happening with her legs. Ariana is still a bit of a mess. Charity is very stiff. You would think from their comments that those 4 are lightyears above Lele and they're really not. Jason is the only one that has separated himself and it's because 1) his quality of movement is so good and 2) Daniella is the best choreographer and pro on the show right now. But he's not at 9 level yet. So if he's not there, no one else should be getting anything more than a combo of 8s and 7s (no one but Jason deserved straight 8s). It's okay to not have celebs be the far out best of the season. Back in season 12, it took a while for Hines and Chelsea to separate from the pack. And even with that, Romeo, Ralph and Kirstie were all right there and Kendra started making a charge for the top right when she got eliminated. It's okay to not have an established frontrunner in week 2 and 3. I wish the show would be okay with that too.

Now as far as the judges' save is concerned, I'm not upset by it bot being around. That's how DWTS was up until season 28 when they shifted things due to the shenanigans of season 27. They were trying to make corrections so we never had a Bobby win or a semi-final Joe appearance ever again. That was the wrong correction to make though. The correction should be made with the judges scoring properly. But that's not what I wanted to talk about in regards to the judges' save. I want to talk about voting. Many of you don't know this, but I don't get to see the show "live". I live in the Mountain Time Zone and we get the show an hour after it actually begins. So I have to do blind voting in order to actually be able to vote for couples before they shut it down for the night. The Western Zone doesn't even get to see a single couple before the show closes voting. I personally hate that fact, so I just don't vote, period. I wish they would just do it like they used to, keep voting open for an hour after the show ends FOR YOUR TIME ZONE and combine the previous week's votes with the current week's scores to eliminate couples. That way ALL of our voices are heard and not just Eastern and Central time zones and those of us that remember to get to the voting platform before 7:55pm EST. With Disney+ being stupid and showing the show when it airs on regular TV, I just gave up on voting. Like what's the point of having it stream if you're still gonna stagger the start times? Please get real.

This would've been a good topic to have a twitter space about. Anyway, I'm just kinda bored with the show and I'm not feeling excited. I'm not even really feeling anything. Even when I was frustrated with the show, I still felt something. This season? I'm feeling very blah about it all. I'm apathetic. And that's the worst way you can make anyone feel about your product.

Like I said, a different type of review. I didn't really care for the dances this week and was dreading having to write about them. Hopefully next week will be better. I'm skeptical though cuz it's Disney week and it's the same 7 or 8 songs we always get with a couple new ones thrown in. Maybe I'll talk about the failure of Disney week for the next recap if I'm still not feeling it. And maybe up until then, I'll post Disney songs that have not been used, that would be perfect and their dance styles. I wanna spice things up because this season is not it.

I was first introduced to Brandon Hines' music by his two collabs with Trey Songz, "Different" and Back Bounce" released in 2006. I went to his Myspace page(or Trey's/Troy's...whoever had the song on their page) everyday to listen to Back Bounce. That led me to constantly listen to his songs Lipstick, Overdose, Just Do It, and a few others.

I understand the industry is rough if you're a talented artist who cares. I wish him well and personal success. "Escape" is one of my all time favorites.

1. book you’ve reread the most times?

honestly i never really reread books completely, i just go back to the parts i really liked. i think the books i did that most with were the harry potter books, they were a huge part of my childhood and even tho i haven't touched them in a while i still know like. everything about them lmao

2. top 5 books of all time?

bUCKLE UP ALRIIIGHT-

1. my favorite book of all time is the secret garden, even tho it's a rather old children's book it's so adorable and it has beautiful messages and some sort of magic without being really fantasy

2. i. love. the first law by joe abercrombie. not even one single book, just all of them. joe abercrombie is the best author i ever read in my life and i'm begging you to check him out if you like fantasy, abercrombie is basically like game of thrones but a lot better (coming from a game of thrones fan)

3. it's really not the kind of book i'd read usually but i did and i'm glad: fangirl by rainbow rowell touched me and i think it was first time i was really able to connect to a main character, it was so great honestly, it was such a beautiful romance and i think every fic author who was really lonely at some point can feel with cath

4. it was the first book i read entirely in english and i loved it - lost boy by christina henry was really good and a really interesting look at the story of peter pan which is very interesting either way, it was just so much fun to read

5. oh my god. okay so. i only read this book because i had seen a trailer for the movie adaptation and ben barnes was in it. (i love ben barnes like. i'm straight for ben barnes) anyways the picture of dorian gray by oscar wilde is so good and so weird and so beautiful and so aesthetic and so gross and aaaah it's amazing please go and read it!! (funfact i still haven't seen the movie)

3. what is your favourite genre?

fantasy. hands down fantasy. i'm open to most genres, there are very few genres that i don't like at all, but i've read fantasy all my life. harry potter by j. k. rowling, the hobbit by j.r.r. tolkien, sea of trolls by nancy farmer, jig the goblin by jim c. hines, a song of ice and fire by george r.r. martin, the first law by joe abercrombie, the demom cycle by peter v. brett, fablehaven by brandon mull, shattered sea also by joe abercrombie (i am BEGGING you to check out joe abercrombie if you haven't already) and so many more, so yeah it's fantasy lmao

7. is there a series/book that got you into reading?

not really, i've always been reading, like when i was a little kid i would be invited to a birthday party and just sit in the corner and read when i was done with the other kids. i think really actively reading series and books by myself... the first one must've been harry potter, i started to read that at age 6 and it kinda got me into fantasy as a genre and was the first thing i read which didn't have pictures in it lmao

Mission King Of The Baggers, BellissiMoto Twins Cup And Mission Super Hooligan National Championship Classes Join The Daytona 200. MotoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series, has announced a total of 143 entries for the three classes that kick off the 2024 MotoAmerica Championship at Daytona International Speedway, March 7-9. The 82nd running of the Daytona 200 will feature 67 riders with 28 of those from outside the United States. The race can also boast of three past Daytona 200 winners (Josh Herrin, Brandon Paasch and Danny Eslick) on the 2024 entry list. But the Daytona 200 isn’t the only race happening at the Speedway as the Mission King Of The Baggers, BellissiMoto Twins Cup and Mission Super Hooligan National Championship will also be in action on the high banks at the “World Center Of Racing” for what will be the start of their championship seasons. The entry list for Mission King Of The Baggers is 16-riders strong, and it features defending class champion Hayden Gillim aboard his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson as he battles against rivals Kyle Wyman and James Rispoli who represent Harley-Davidson Factory Racing. The other American Big Twin motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycle, are represented by Tyler O’Hara, who is teamed up this year with fellow S&S/Indian Challenger rider Troy Herfoss, a three-time Australian Superbike Champion who will be making his Daytona debut. And speaking of riders from other countries, the pride of Andorra, a MotoGP podium finisher, as well as a World Supersport and World Superbike multi-time race winner, Rubén Xaus is all-in on his Feuling Parts Harley-Davidson. He’ll have to face Bobby Fong, who is back aboard his SDI/Roland Sands Racing/Indian Challenger. Then there’s the three-rider Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson team with Cory West, Jake Lewis, and Travis Wyman. And let us not leave out the surprise signing of the off-season with Hayden Gillim’s teammate Rocco Landers also aboard a RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson. Mad Monkey Motorsports’ Max Flinders is hopeful of duplicating or improving on his podium result from the last KOTB race in New Jersey in 2023 and Trask Performance is fielding Shane Narbonne. Indian insider (he’s an engineer) Kyle Ohnsorg is back aboard a Challenger after a podium-reaching performance at COTA last year. Flat tracker Jesse Janisch is bringing his sideways-sliding style to the Suburban Motors H-D/Slyfox/Trask Performance team. And they will all be joined by Danny Eslick, the four-time Daytona 200 winner who will be aboard his Nowaskey Extreme Performance Harley. Meanwhile, 25riders have entered the BellissiMoto Twins Cup series opener with two races around the 3.51-mile, 12-turn Daytona road course. Defending Twins Cup Champion Blake Davis will start the season as the favorite on his Yamaha YZF-R7, but he will face a considerable challenge from both Aprilia and Suzuki-mounted riders. The Suzuki attack is led by Team Hammer’s Rossi Moor on the new Suzuki GSX-8R with Vance & Hines also fielding Rocco Landers on a GSX-8R. Aprilia, meanwhile, will be well represented by Robem Engineering’s Gus Rodio, who will be teamed up with Italian Alessandro Di Mario and wild-card New Hampshirite Ben Gloddy, who is returning to the team for at least one round (and maybe more?). And, speaking of Italy, new team TopPro Racing has brought in Romeo Chiavini to pilot an Aprilia. Those four will be joined by eight more Ape-riders ready to go “660” on the field of 25. Along with Davis in the Yamaha YZF-R7 camp are former class champion Kaleb DeKeyrel, South African Dominic Doyle, and his Giaccmoto Racing Yamaha teammate Sonya Lloyd, who raced in last year’s Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. program, and British-racer-living-in-Canada Jack Roach returns to MotoAmerica after a hiatus of a couple of years. Thirty-five riders have entered the series opener for the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship with that class featuring 12 different manufacturers doing battle. Making its debut at Daytona is the Yamaha MT-09 SP, a three-cylinder motorcycle that will be piloted by three different riders, including Italian-born, Switzerland-residing FIM Endurance World Championship-winning rider Niccolò Canepa. Defending class champion Tyler O’Hara is back aboard his S&S/Indian FTR1200, Andy DiBrino returns aboard his Competition Werkes/Gray Area/KTM 890 DUKE R, and Stefano Mesa will once again be aboard his Tytlers Cycle Energica Eva Ribelle RS electric bike. Plus, there are seven Harley-Davidson Pan Americas, a couple of BMW R nineTs, two Ducatis, a pair of Suzuki SV1000s, an Aprilia Tuono, a Buell XB12XT, and even a Victory Vegas in the mix.
