Look. I say this as someone who works in healthcare, has taken multiple BLS/CPR and street medic trainings, and has not one but three First Aid kits (one upstairs, small one in the car, small one in the bugout bag):
Some of y’all are being ASSHOLES about this.
How about instead of treating people like shit and berating them for not having certain training or resources, let’s tell them how they can access that training and resources, hm?
This is a London-based street medicine institute. If you scroll down they have a map that links you to various organizations around the world that provide basic medical training to the community, often pro bono.
The Red Cross is another international organization that provides a variety of inexpensive courses at different skill levels. They also provide a guide to building your own first aid kit. (And no, a tourniquet is not on that guide. In fact, I’ve taken multiple first aid and street medicine courses and none of them covered how to use a tourniquet. It’s now on my personal list of things to learn but is absolutely not something we should fucking shame people for not knowing, ffs.)
Some hospitals and other medical organizations will send you a free first aid kit. This is regionally dependent and highly variable, but it’s worth googling to find out.

i’ve stopped making serious / earnest posts a while ago bc 1. can’t be bothered and 2. need to stop blabbering around on the internet but one thing that i think is important to mention is how deeply belgium is sinking into islamophobia like it already is a pretty islamophobic place to begin with lol i’m not saying anything new or groundbreaking but it’s so normalized now AND it’s very obvious that it’s sponsored by the state and its apparatuses. like how many civil society organizations are losing fundings bc their target audience are racialised people but especially muslims? how many academic projects are seeing their funding cut because they’re not focusing on securitization and terrorism in muslim communities? i spent the whole day at a university in brussels going from one department to the other and everywhere it was the same tune if you don’t submit projects that have to do with radicalization and islam you can kiss your funding goodbye. at the region and state level they only hand out peanuts which don’t even cover staff costs so if you want to launch your own projects you have to do it pro bono bc all the money is funneled into the project itself and none of it into its functioning. and it’s all so transparent bc it’s obviously in preparation of the upcoming 2024 elections where we’ll have a repeat of the anti-woke discourse that the global north is neck deep in lol anyways i’m jumping out of the titanic adios civil society

When you’re recovered from your injury and signed off to fly, Terry whisks you away to Italy. He thinks the change of scenery may be good for you, that being away from the city may give you some mental space. He can tell you think so too because for the first time in your relationship you don’t fight him on the cost.
You spend ten days in Tuscany, exploring Florence, visiting vineyards, eating well and sampling wines from the region. You bask in the beauty of the architecture, the history, the art. You spend nights making love in an airy room, with the breeze flowing across your skin and Terry whispering the most magnificent things into your ear.
The pace is different here, it allows you to slow down, to breathe.
On the last day Terry finds you sitting on the balcony with an expresso, clad in only a silk emerald, green robe that hugs the contours of your body. You look blissful and at peace. He wonders if it’s time to make a change, maybe the two of you should retire, buy a property out here, maybe a vineyard. There’s one for sale not far away and he’s already made a tentative inquiry. He likes to have options, to have all the information at hand.
“We can stay you know?” He tells you as he looks out across the view.
It’s stunning here, serene and rustic, he thinks the change of pace could be good for the both of you. The truth is coming here, living like this has been a wake up call for him. There’s a lot of things that he’s been thinking about, but he isn’t sure how to broach them.
“And what would we do?” You ask him, playing out scenario.
Terry takes the seat alongside of you, his hip bumping against yours. His arm comes to rest upon your shoulders, thumb skirting over the fabric as you lean into him, your head coming to rest upon his chest.
“Grow grapes.” He murmurs, his lips brushing over your hairline. “Make wine.”
Your hand coming to rests upon the space where his heart resides, fingertips toying with hem of his own navy blue robe as you tuck yourself against him. He loves the way you feel, the way you fit just right.
“It sounds like you’ve given it some thought.” You remark.
“A little.” He admits.
“Do you think you’d be happy?” You ask him, it’s almost a sleepy mumble. He can feel the rise and fall of your chest against his as you speak. “Leaving it all behind for a life like this?”
Terry sighs, closing his eyes as he kisses the silky strands of your hair.
“I think the job is burning us both out.” He tells you honestly. “I think what happened to you, what they were going to do with Paul, is another sign that the NYPD don’t prioritise their officers and I’m losing faith in the system. It feels like every time I win a battle, the next one is just around the corner. If it’s not me, it’s someone I care about. It feels like the job is costing me more than it’s giving me at this point.”
“Is this your way of telling me you want to retire?” You ask him, tilting your head up towards him.
He looks down at you surprised because the truth is, until he vocalised his feelings, he hadn’t realised just how serious he was about the whole thing. It started as a flirtation but now it’s tangible and he wants it, he wants it so fucking badly. It wasn’t until he left New York that he realised how much he was suffocating. It’s the job he thinks, he’s spent entire years pouring everything he has into it and in return it’s bludgeoned not just him but the person he loves. He thinks of what it did to Duarte, how the other man carries the scars of it on his flesh. He knows it’s time to get out.
“Yea.” He says softly. “Maybe it is.”
He feels the way the conversation turns; he sees it in your expression. You’re not leaning against him anymore, your upright, your palm splayed in the centre of his chest. He didn’t mean for this to happen, but it has, and it hurts, it hurts so fucking much it feels like he can barely breathe.
“What does that mean for us?” You ask him. “If I’m not ready to do that just yet?”
Terry stares straight out at the countryside. He can’t go back to that job, to that life. It’s going to kill him one way or another, it almost killed you. You’re not ready but he is, and he needs to take this leap, with or without you.
“I don’t know.” He tells you because it really depends on you.
Make a commitment and stay here with him or go back to the job, that almost ruined your life. It should be a no brainer…
But he remembers that morning he asked you to move in with him, the hesitation. You shy away from shit like this because it feels too big, too real. He knows how it’s going to end, him here alone in Italy and you in New York, drowning.
You don’t say anything as you stand up and walk away from him. He stays sitting in the loveseat as you head inside through the French windows. He listens for the click of the bedroom door, and he knows that you’re packing, that you’ll be on a flight straight back to New York and there isn’t a damn thing he can do about it.

I wanna ask u about daredevil lol what is it
Oh boy, time to unleash Pandora’s box.
So Daredevil is a fairly long running comics character in the marvel universe, known for his super senses, bright red spandex with devil horns, and general acrobatic prowess, hence his name. In his civilian identity, his name is Matthew (Matt) Murdock, a blind defense lawyer known for his largely pro-bono law practice “Nelson and Murdock” with his best friend, and former college roommate, Foggy Nelson.
He’s a street level superhero typically known for protecting his small neighborhood in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Historically that region was a pretty poor neighborhood (not so much today, but times change) consisting largely of poor Irish Catholic immigrants, and that’s how he grows up- son of an single, immigrant father who does boxing for a living, known in the ring as “Battlin’” Jack Murdock.
Now Jack Murdock doesn’t want this life for his son- he’s old and losing his strength from years of fights, and forces encourages young Matt to stay in school and study hard so he won’t end up like him. It’s not just the physical degradation that makes him so adamant to ensure Matt doesn’t follow his path though, it’s also the fact that he’s been forced to compromise his morals and start throwing fights for money, under a local crime boss’s command.
Matt is unaware of this at the time, but he’s got plenty of other stuff to worry about, like bullying from other kids his age when he refuses to go outside and play with them (his dad wants him to study), and the fact that he gets blinded at the ripe age of 9 by some radioactive chemicals, after diving to save a man crossing the street, who was about to get hit by the truck containing said chemicals. These chemicals don’t only blind Matt though, but also enhance his other senses to superhuman levels, giving him a massive amount of sensory processing issues on top of the superpowers lol.
His father helps work him through the traumatic event, and beginning of his readjustment to life without sight, gets him reading braille, and starting to study again, hoping maybe his kid can be a lawyer or something when he grows up. However it isn’t long before he ends up getting killed by the crime bosses he was throwing fights for, after finally refusing to throw a fight.
So Matt, now alone in his world, gets sent to a Catholic orphanage, and spends the rest of his childhood there, utterly alone until he meets his mentor - Stick. He’s also a blind man, but he’s different from Matt in that he doesn’t have any special enhanced senses, but he is a master in martial arts, mostly learned from people in various fantasy Asia locations that marvel has created. He trains Matt to hone his senses, block out all the unnecessary noise, and punch really hard.
He’s big on tough love teaching styles, some of which to be honest are straight up abusive, but Matt, as a young impressionable orphan, sees him as a substitute father figure. Stick doesn’t stick around for long though, and the reasons for this vary in different comics and the tv show. Regardless, the impact is that Matt has been abandoned once again, and there’s really no notable people in his life until he gets into law school and meets Foggy Nelson.
Foggy is his college roommate, and while they don’t initially get along (one comic says Matt nicknamed him Foggy because he felt like the snoring he made while asleep sounded like a foghorn), they quickly become inseparable. Various comics disagree on their dynamic but I like how Waid portrays them, with Foggy as the smart one and Matt as the charismatic one, both reliant on each other to prepare the best defense for their clients.
In college, he also has a fling with Elektra, who is the start of his endless string of lovers. She is the daughter of some rich millionaire, but what Matt likes about her is the danger she represents. By this point, Matt has been actively masking the fact that his enhanced senses allow him to sense his surroundings much more than an ordinary blind person might be able to for more than half of his life. He never told his father about his enhanced senses, and Elektra is the first to see him for who he truly is, mask off, and accept it. However the problem he runs into is that Elektra’s morality is much more gray than the black and white lines he’s constructed as a Catholic lawyer. She urges him to more and more reckless stunts until an event (differs between different comics/the tv show) where his actions lead to death or near death. They break it off and he doesn’t see her for many years following.
Once he kicks off his career at Nelson and Murdock, he also starts his early vigilante career. I’m not too familiar with the reasons around why it only kicked off then (I haven’t read daredevil: yellow yet or the very early comics) but he quickly racks up small time enemies and a very unbalanced work-vigilantism schedule.
Their first office manager is named Karen Page, and she’s the first and most prominent love interest for Matt. Her story starts out with her and Matt being in a very innocent relationship while both of them mask the darker parts of their personality from each other. The early comics don’t do this very well because well, people were much more misogynistic in the 1960s. However I think the tv show beautifully adapts this storyline and fleshes Karen out a considerable amount. In the comics though, Karen eventually is killed by Bullseye, who you can probably guess the powerset of by his name.
Bullseye also kills Elektra after she and Matt have a reunion, both in comic suits, where she has become an infamous assassin in the time after she left Matt in college. Technically he kills Elektra before he kills Karen but Elektra gets revived later so it’s all good. In any case, bullseye cements himself as a major rogue of daredevil haunting him through his deceased girlfriends. He represents a main antagonist for the martial arts/ninja side of daredevil, along with the Hand, a cult of ninjas that worship a creature called the beast, who can resurrect the dead.
On the law side, with Matt Murdock, the kingpin tends to be his main enemy. If you’ve seen into the spider-verse, you’ll know that Kingpin has beef with Spider-Man too, but with Daredevil, it’s a lot more personal. The Netflix show demonstrates him with perfection but I think the Frank Miller Born Again run demonstrates his ruthlessness best, where he discovers the secret identity of Daredevil and then systematically and slowly dismantles his entire life, getting him disbarred, then manipulating his tax records and utility bills so that he loses his house, leaving him homeless, sleeping on the streets, with only one thought on his mind: revenge against Kingpin.
Those are the basics I guess, but yea the comics are just him on adventures fighting supervillains and (more often) his own personal demons regarding his repeated childhood abandonment and deep-rooted depression. I find him to be a complex and interesting character with a lot of flaws to explore. I would highly recommend the tv show, it’s a genuine masterpiece and an excellent way to get started on the comics too.

Oware is an abstract strategy game among the mancala family of board games (pit and pebble games) played worldwide with slight variations as to the layout of the game, number of players and strategy of play. Its origin is uncertain but it is widely believed to be of Ashanti origin.
Played in the Bono Region, Bono East Region, Ahafo Region, Central Region, Western Region, Eastern Region, Ashanti Region of Ghana and throughout the Caribbean, oware and its variants have many names - ayò, ayoayo (Yoruba), awalé (Ivory Coast, Benin), wari (Mali), ouri, ouril or uril (Cape Verde), warri (Caribbean) Pallanguzhi (India) wali (Dagbani), adji (Ewe), nchọ/ókwè (Igbo), ise (Edo), awale (Ga) (meaning "spoons" in English). A common name in English is awari but one of the earliest Western scholars to study the game, Robert Sutherland Rattray, used the name wari.
Following are the rules for the abapa variation, considered to be the most appropriate for serious, adult play.
Equipment
The game requires an oware board and 48 seeds. A typical oware board has two straight rows of six pits, called "houses", and optionally one large "score" house at each end. Each player controls the six houses on their side of the board, and the score house on their end. The game begins with four seeds in each of the twelve smaller houses.
Boards may be elaborately carved or simple and functional; they may include a pedestal, or be hinged to fold lengthwise or crosswise and latch for portability and storage with the seeds inside. While most commonly located at either end, scoring houses may be placed elsewhere, and the rows need not be straight. When a board has a hinged cover like a diptych, the scoring houses may be carved into the two halves of the cover, and so be in front of the players during play. The ground may also be used as a board; players simply scoop two rows of pits out of the earth.
In the Caribbean, the seeds are typically nickernuts, which are smooth and shiny. Beads and pebbles are also sometimes used. In the West, some cheaper sets use oval-shaped marbles. Some tourist sets use cowrie shells.
Objective
The game starts with four seeds in each house. The objective of the game is to capture more seeds than one's opponent. Since the game has only 48 seeds, capturing 25 is sufficient to win the game. Since there is an even number of seeds, it is possible for the game to end in a draw, where each player has captured 24.
Sowing
A player sowing seeds.
Example turn:
ABCDEF
The lower player prepares to sow from E.
fedcba
After sowing, e, d, and c are captured but not a.
Players take turns moving the seeds. On a turn, a player chooses one of the six houses under their control. The player removes all seeds from that house, and distributes them, dropping one in each house counter-clockwise from this house, in a process called sowing. Seeds are not distributed into the end scoring houses, nor into the house drawn from. The starting house is always left empty; if it contained 12 (or more) seeds, it is skipped, and the twelfth seed is placed in the next house. The diagram shows the result of sowing from house E.
Knowing the number of seeds in each house is, of course, important to game play. When there are many seeds in a house, sometimes enough to make a full lap of the board or more, they cannot easily be counted by eye, and their number is often guarded by the player who controls that house. This may be done by repeatedly moving the seeds in the house. A player may count the seeds when contemplating a move; in such cases the last few are usually counted in the hand to avoid revealing their number.
Capturing
In Oware Abapa, capturing occurs only when a player brings the count of an opponent's house to exactly two or three with the final seed he sowed in that turn. This always captures the seeds in the corresponding house, and possibly more: If the previous-to-last seed also brought an opponent's house to two or three, these are captured as well, and so on until a house is reached which does not contain two or three seeds or does not belong to the opponent. The captured seeds are placed in the player's scoring house (or set aside if the board has no scoring houses). However, if a move would capture all of an opponent's seeds, the capture is forfeited since this would prevent the opponent from continuing the game, and the seeds are instead left on the board. (However, see discussion on Grand Slam variations below). In the adjacent diagram, the lower player would capture all the seeds in houses e, d, and c but not b (as it has four seeds) or a (since it is not contiguous to the other captured houses).
Let the opponent play
The proscription against capturing all an opponent's seeds is related to a more general idea, that one ought to make a move that allows the opponent to continue playing. If an opponent's houses are all empty, the current player must make a move that gives the opponent seeds. If no such move is possible, the current player captures all seeds in their own territory, ending the game.
Winning
The game is over when one player has captured 25 or more seeds, or each player has taken 24 seeds (draw). If both players agree that the game has been reduced to an endless cycle, the game ends when each player has seeds in his holes and then each player captures the seeds on their side of the board.
Variations
"Grand slam" variations
A grand slam is capturing all of an opponent's seeds in one turn. There are variations to the rule that applies, which may be one of the following:[6]
Grand slam captures are not legal moves.
Such a move is legal, but no capture results. International competitions often follow this rule.
Grand slam captures are allowed, however, all remaining stones on the board are awarded to the opponent.
Such a move is legal, but the last (or first) house is not captured.
Various other rules also exist.
Variations allowing Grand slams to end the game are strongly solved by Henri Bal and John Romein at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in 2002; either side can force a draw.
One commercial version was marketed in 1964 by 3M, as the board game Oh-Wah-Ree.
History and society
A game of awale
Weight for weighing gold dust - Awele or Awari game
Oware is perhaps the most widespread game in the mancala family of games.
Considered the national game of Bono State, Ashanti City-State, oware is said to derive its name — which literally means "he/she marries" — from a legend in the Akan language and Twi, the language of the Akan people, about a man and a woman who played the game endlessly and, so as to be able to stay together and continue playing, they married.

🇵🇸🇮🇱🇺🇲 ANGELO GIULIANO AND BRIAN BERLETIC ASKING THE QUESTION: CUI BONO?
WHO BENEFITS FROM OPERATION AL-AQSA FLOOD?
Although I do not agree with some of what Brian Berletic and Angelo Giuliano think about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, they offer much to think about in the broader geopolitical context of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the region.
For decades, the United States, Israeli state security and the Mossad, Iran, Saudi Arabia and others have manipulated the politics of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to inflame tensions when convenient and it is important that we always ask the question, Cui Bono? Who benefits by this geopolitical event?
We know the creation of Israel was unjust, but as they discuss in this video, many many Jews have now been born in Israel, and state of Israel is not going anywhere. At some point, this will need to be solved politically and geopolitically in a way that can be just to the civilians of both sides. That much is true.
I'm always grateful for the opportunities these two commentators offer me to ask and think about these questions and to see geopolitical events from different perspectives.
So while I strongly support the Palestinian cause and the use of armed resistance as a Right, reaffirmed in the United Nations, to Liberate themselves from the oppression, blockade and violence inflicted on Palestinians every single day, I may not agree with everything every resistance group in occupied Palestine does, or the tactics they use.
But I firmly reaffirm my unquestioning solidarity with, and support for Palestinians and Palestinian Resistance Groups in the armed struggle against the oppression, ethnic cleansing, stealing of land, and violence inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israel, its supporters, and its settlers on a daily basis and I strongly support anyone or any nation willing to help them in that struggle.

hey friend are you moroccan? if so, can I ask you out of curiosity why does hakim ziyech look whiter than all of his teammates? I hope it's not rude just of curiosity. If you compare him to hakimi, for example, the difference is crazy. I know nothing about morocco I just genuinely wonder why do they look so much different. Is he mixed?
hi anon! yes i am moroccan but i dont live in morocco so im a diaspora kid like hakim.
ziyech is actually 100% moroccan. his parents are from tafoughalt which is in the north east-ish if i remember my moroccan geography lol
morocco has a vast and very large range of skin tones as u can see from the nt. we got bono and ziyech being paler and others like boufal and sabiri being darker. me personally it depends bc in canada i look paler and when i go to morocco i get a darker tan like 4 foundation shades darker too. i have cousins who are black w 4c hair and blue eyes and cousins who have very pale 3c blonde hair w medium-tan skin on the same side of the family and the kicker is they are all 100% moroccan.
we have to remember where morocco is on the map and its vast and rich history of tribes and empires that have traded with and occupied that land. each city has their own regional dialect of arabic and shilha (berber), their own traditional marriage ceremonies, and everyone looks so different at the same time.
so to summarize that long nonsensical rant. you'll find that moroccans (and north africans in general) are not a monolith in skin tones or hair types.
