Do you have a favorite breed of dog?

medium to large sized mutt with shaggy black fur generally my favorite type of dog

but as far as breeds go, that’s a difficult question. I didn’t grow up in an area with a lot of purebred dogs. my childhood dog was some sort of rough collie/Newfoundland mix and she was the best dog ever but I wouldn’t endorse those breeds for everyone, we lived in the middle of nowhere and she got to walk 15 miles a day with my dad.

I think I really like scent hounds. my grandpa bred black and tan coonhounds and they’re awesome dogs. I love beagles, they’re so sweet but so stinky. I currently don’t live a lifestyle fit for a hound but the scent hound family is still my favorite type of dog.

also, and this is going to surprise many people, I’m a fan of chihuahuas. maybe I like them because they’re “barely a dog” and I’m not a dog person but chihuahuas tend to like me and I’m spared of the evil little dog curse. they can be extraordinary companion animals if treated with respect and given the space they ask for. I feel like they’re misunderstood angels.
