"Hey! Hey!!" Chie elbowed her companion, pointing towards a large snowdrift not too far from them. "Check this out!"
Tumblr media
She was off and running full throttle towards the cold, icy obstacle. At enough of a distance, the brunette launched herself into the air landing perfectly face first directly into the snow.
No movement afterwards.

Games I played in 2020
Just felt like getting my thoughts out on all the games I played this year. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for years but I always let it pass me by. Well not this year! Fuck you laziness!
Tumblr media
I played the first half in 2019 but finished it in 2020 so I guess I'll count it. DQ11 was my intro to Dragon Quest and what a good starting point. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best traditional JRPGs on the market. Characters, story, combat, it all clicks in just the right way to make a flawless game... until the end credits roll that is.
I have no idea what happened with the post game but by god does it dive off a cliff. It undermines everything you worked to do in the main plot. The characters act brain dead and it shamelessly reuses events from the main game. Please pick up and play DQ11 but for the love of god just stop when the credits roll.
Tumblr media
Doom is a game I knew I'd like. The heavy metal ascetic and soundtrack were right up my alley, but I just never found the time. With Eternal on the way though and having found it on the cheap at a pawn shop I figured there was no time like the present. Needless to say but I was right. I loved everything about this game. The thrill of combat, the screech of the guitars, and the silent take no shit attitude of Doomguy. Make no mistake though, I SUCK at this game. I played on easy but still got my ass handed to me on the regular. But I don't care, I was having way to much fun.
Tumblr media
I flipped my shit when this game got leaked at the tail end of 2019. Zero 3 is my all time favourite game. To celebrate this getting announced I went and 100% Zero 3 as I hadn't done it on my current cart, and Zero 3 was still the first thing I played when I got this collection! I love that game to death and I’m glad to have it on modern consoles again. As I was under a bit of time crunch with other games releasing soon I only played 2 other games in the collection Zero 4 and ZX Advent. Until the DS collection those and 3 were the only Zero/ZX games I had so I have a lot of nostalgia for them.
Zero 4 hold ups better then I remember. Not as good as 3 but a damn solid game with tweaks I honestly wish hit the series before its end. I remember having issues with the stage design and ya it’s not perfect, but it’s far from as bad as I thought. For ZXA this was the first time I beat the game on normal difficulty. For some reason the ZX games have always given me more trouble than the Zero games, so finally beating one on normal was very exciting. Maybe I can now finally go and beat ZX for the first time...
Tumblr media
The Mystery Dungeon series rising from the depth to punch all those unexpecting in the face was a very welcome surprise. I had a lot of hype going into this one as I have very fond memories of my time with Red Rescue Team and even more with Explorers of Darkness. And the game lived up to it! The remastered music is great and crazy nostalgic, the 3D models are well used and don't feel as stiff as they do in the core series, and the QOL changes are near perfect... So why did I drop this game like a rock once I finished the main quest?
Anyone familiar with Mystery Dungeon will know that the post game is the real meat of it. The story is short and all the really cool shit comes in after it's done. But I just couldn't bring myself to put more time in after I finished said story mode. I'm definitely chocking that up to me just not being in the mood then an issue with the game. Here's hoping we get an Explorers DX sometime soon. That will fucking hook me for all it's got.
Tumblr media
Second verse same as the first. I loved this game and sucked at it horribly. Out of all the games I've played this year Doom Eternal is the one I want to go back to the most. I was not the hugest fan of some of the changes made and retained a stance that I liked 2016 better. First person platforming has never been a fun experience in my opinion and Eternal did little to change that. And I know this a lukewarm take at best but fuck Marauders!. They are so unfun to fight and ruin the pace. The Marauder in the last mook wave took me so long I was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish the game. But the more I've seen of Eternal after my playthrough makes me think I was being far to harsh. I haven't played the DLC yet either. Mostly cuss I haven't heard great things about it. Gonna wait for the rest of it to come out to see if it's worth getting. Might just replay to whole game at that point to see if it clicks with me better.
Tumblr media
This was my second favourite game of the year, and was going to take the top slot until a certain other game came out. Addressing the elephant in room right away, I hated the ending. But I was expecting something like that, I think we all were. I won't let the ending ruin the rest of the game though. Not gonna let 1 segment colour everything that came before it. We have to see how the later parts play out to truly see if this ending was trash or not anyway.
It took Square over a decade but they finally got an action RPG battle system that works and feels good to play. This may be my favourite battle system in an RPG period honestly. All four characters are a blast and it only gets better the more time you spend with it. Figuring out the nuances of each character’s skills and how to combine them not only with the skills of the others but how to enhance them with the right Materia set. This makes fights thrilling and satisfying when you finally best whatever was giving you trouble. Tis was the best way to bring 7′s mechanics into the modern landscape while also fixing the BIGGEST issue the OG had. The fact every character feels the same aside from Limit Breaks.
All this on top of graphics that just look fucking stunning, a few glitched out doors aside. Fuck I still feel blown away looking at the characters models (mostly Tifa) and see how god damn pretty everyone is. Also Tifa’s Chinese dress is gift from the Gods and I still haven’t picked my jaw up from the floor after I first saw it.
Tumblr media
In my circle of the internet there was a lot of hype for this game. So much so that I ended up buying it to see what all the hubbub was about. I had never played a Streets of Rage game before and my only experience with beat'em ups was playing a LOT of Scott Pilgrim and last year's River City Girls. Turns out Streets of Rage plays quite a bit different and it kicked my ass! So sadly I had to switch to easy to make it through but I still had a fun time with it.
I started playing mostly as Blaze but once Adam hit the scene oooooh fucking boy. I didn’t play anyone else. There's a deceptive amount of content in this game. You can unlock almost every character from the previous games and all of them rocking their original sprites and moves. If I had more of a connection with this series I'm sure I would have gone nuts on unlocking everything. I stopped after my one playthrough and I was happy with that. Always glad to support a long overdue franchise revival.
Tumblr media
To properly talk about P5R I think I need to air a lot of my feelings on the original game and the importance it has to me. You see, prior to 2017 I barely played games, only sticking to specific franchises. AKA Pokemon and Mega Man/Mega Man like games. Until 2016 though I still bought a lot of games. Eating up Steam sales and deals I found at pawn shops. This lead to a Steam library and shelf filled with games I've never touched outside of maybe an hour or 2. So in 2016 when I took interest in the newly released Kirby Planet Robobot I made a deal with myself. I could get the game but I HAD to beat it.  And I did just that, gaining not just a new fav Kirby game but a new rule for game purchases. If I knew I wouldn't beat a game I was not aloud to buy it. Now what does ANY of this have to do with P5 you may ask? Well... almost everything.
I was immediately interested in P5 when it hit the west in 2017. I loved the 20 or so hours I but into P3 years ago and really liked the P4 anime I had watched around the same time. So of course with all the hype around it I wanted to dive into the series full force with P5. But I knew myself. Putting over 100 hours into a game was beyond me and I had a weird relationship with home console games as I was predominately a handheld gamer. Add in the fact I didn't even have a PS4 and I was convinced P5 would be something I always wanted to play, but never would. So when I went to the mall with a few friends and they showed me that P5 had a PS3 version, I had a dilemma on my hands. I knew I wanted to play it and I now had a way to do so. But doing that would require me to change 2 HUGE hang ups I had with games. Would I being willing to waste 60 bucks with so much working against me? Apparently I was. I immediately started going to town on this game. Making sure I spent no less then 2 hours a day playing NO MATTER WHAT. Which may not seem like a lot but it was to me... at the time.. I also had just moved to my current house, so coming home from my still relatively new job and going straight into P5 was the first real routine I formed during this heavily transitional part of my life.
I of course ended up loving P5 and put 200 hours into it. As such my outlook on gaming was forever changed. Console games were no longer out of reach and I knew I could handle playing monster length game. I started playing way more games then I ever did before and trying out generas I never thought I would play. P5 is the main reason for this and why I'm able to make a post like this. To actually touch on Royal though? It's unarguably the better version of the game and Atlus learned all the right lessons from P4G. The new characters are great and the added section at the end is possibly the best shit Atlus has ever written. I only wish Yoshizawa joined the party sooner so I could play as her more.
Tumblr media
The release of this really came out of nowhere huh? Wayforward announced it was being made mid way through 2019, then there was its weird half release on the Apple store... and then suddenly it was out! Very little fanfare for this one. Is that indicative of the games quality? Luckily no. Seven Sirens is a solid addition to the series and follows up Half Genies Hero nicely. The game goes back to Shantae's Metroidvania roots and makes a TON of improvements.
Transformations are now instant instead of having to dance for them (don't worry dancing is still in the game) making the game feel more like Pirates Curse in its fast flow. They also added the Monster Cards which take heavy inspiration from Aria of Sorrow's Soul system. A feature I'm happy to see in any Metroidvania since Aria is one of my all time favourite games. Sadly though the game does not take the best advantage of these improvements.
Over all the game feels kinda empty. The dungeons aren't super exciting to explore nor are they challenging in any way. And the plot is very repetitive, with each dungeon repeating the same beats. Really this game feels more like set up for a better game down the line. The mechanics are all here and Wayforward has a solid art style with the sprites from Half Genie Hero. Hopefully they capitalizes on this for Shantae 6 and we get the best game in the series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While it may not have been the most thrilling game, Seven Sirens really put me into a Shantae mood. So much so that I went back to play the 2 games in the series I had never touched. This being the first game and Risky's Revenge. Shantae 1 really is a hidden gem in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it's the definition of jank, but there's a lot of heart to this game. The sprites are great, the soundtrack is good, and the characters are funny... but it's still on the OG Gameboy and that's a massive hindrance for any game. I'm hard pressed to recommend this with how poorly its aged but I think it's better then it looks.
Risky's Revenge on the other hand was a game that shocked me by how little it had to offer. I know this game went through a hellish development and what we got was far from what Wayforward planned to make, but it's hard to imagine a world where this was the technical BEST Shantae game. It's not a bad game by any stretch... just a boring one.
For the record my ranking of the games goes Pirates Curse>Half Genie Hero>Seven Sirens>Original>Risky’s Revenge
Tumblr media
Sword and Shield are mediocre games at best. I know, real steaming hot take there. I managed to make my Sword playthrough a lot more fun by not spoiling myself on the new Pokemon designs for the first time since Gen 3. Either way, I enjoyed myself enough that I didn't mind playing more of it with these DLC campaigns. Plus I love the idea of Game Freak switching over to this method as apposed to making a third version, so I wanted to support it.
Klara is a fucking top tier Poke Girl both in design and personality and is probably the highlight of Isle of Armour. GF actually went out of their way to give her multiple expressions to sell her toxic bitch personality and I love every minute of it. She sadly drifts into the background for the second half of the DLC’s story which hurts an already rough section even more. Not more then having to grind Kubfuu all the way to fucking level 70 though! That put a serious hamper on my motivation to finish the story but I pushed through anyway. Having to solo the tower with Kubfuu was at least a fun challenge though, as was the final fight with Mustard. Fuck the Diglett hunt though. Ain’t no one got time for that.
Crown Tundra may be my fav of the 2 though even if there isn't a character as good as Klara in it. The hunt for the legendaries was just pure adventure and I had a fucking blast doing it. The joy I felt when I figured out Registeel’s puzzle put a smile on my face unlike any Pokemon game since I was a kid. The whole Regi stuff was honestly a nice Nostalgia trip to my times with Emerald. The story around Calyrex was enjoyable, even if I still hate its design. Not revealing the horses before release was a good call to as it gave an honest surprise. Having to chase down the Galar forme Birds in the overworld is a great way to evolve the roaming legendaries idea and I hope GF sticks to this. Plus the Galar forme birds are some of the best legendary designs since Gen 5 and I love Chocodos way to fucking much.
Tumblr media
Here we are folks, my GotY. I love Panzer Paladin so fucking much. A combination of mechanics from Mega Man, Castlevania, and Blaster Master? Sign me the fuck up! This game is tailored made for me and I knew I had to play it once it started making the rounds on social media. I'll admit though, I was a bit worried when the the first full trailer dropped and showed the weapon mechanics. Breakable weapons that you have to sacrifice for checkpoints and power ups? I'm not sure about that.... Luckily I was being a complete moron and those mechanics are near perfect.
I love the set up of each boss being a mythological creature from different cultures. They didn’t just pull the easy ones either. A lot of these things I learned of for the first time here. I love how Grit controls. Using the upward stab as a double jump and being able to pogo off enemies Shovel Knight style just felt great and satisfying. Flame was limited but it made her sections feel tense. She does more damage then you think she could at first glance. Also the only way to heal Grit being to use pods that only Flame could access was a cool idea.
I am begging you Tribute Games, you have to make more Panzer Paladin games. Slap some new upgrades on Grit and expand what Flame can do and you have an even better sequel  on your hands. Also maybe not have so many 'gotcha' moments with enemy placement. That's really my only complaint about the game. Great music, great sprites, giant robots, unique premise, and a reference to Canadian legends. The ultimate self indulgent game for me.
Tumblr media
It felt super out of left field for Curse of the Moon to be getting a sequel. The games fucking amazing but it was really just a tie in for the main Bloodstained product. Not something I expect to get a continuation. Either way I was pumped. If this was even half as good as the original then I was in for a great time. Which held true... cuss this legitimately is only half as good as Curse of the Moon. I still like the game, quite a lot actually. I mean how could I not with a fucking Corgi piloting a Death Train Mech.
Something was just missing here that never made this click like the first game. Maybe it was the stage design, maybe the bosses, maybe the fact that it's a bit to long. I'm not sure. All I know is I couldn't bring myself to play all the modes like I did in the original. . Stopping part way in to the one where you can get the first games characters. I want to go back some day... I just don’t know when someday is.
Tumblr media
This was an announcement I never saw coming. A Gundam Verses game coming to the west? That hasn't happened in the entire time I've been a Gundam fan. I had played a bit of Full Boost on my old roommates PS3 thanks to him having a Japanese account and I played Force on the Vita a few years ago. But to have the latest version fully translated with open servers? Holy hell that's a dream come true.
Having the open betas every weekend leading up to launch was some much needed fun during this shit hole year. I had a lot of fun just fucking around with different suits and seeing what I could do with 'em. Absolutely trashing two Bael players as the Kapool is a memory I'll keep with me for a long time. Fucking danced on their graves. This gave me some new appreciation for suits like the Baund Doc and Hambrabi, the later becoming a lowkey fav as it was my main.
I've fallen off with the game in the last few months but I definitely want to go back. I hope to start learning the game and take parts in tourneys when cons aren’t death sentences anymore.
Tumblr media
It felt like everything in my life was SCREAMING at me to start the Yakuza series. From 2 of my friends playing 0 recently, a youtuber I following live tweeting as he played through the WHOLE series back-to-back, and Yakuza 2 having a run at AGDQ 2020. Plus the constant pleas to play this series you get from following Little Kuriboh on Twitter. I finally broke and picked up 0 in the middle of August. Boooooooooy howdy did I not know what I was getting in to. And no I don't mean the content. I knew Yakuza was a series of wildly conflicting tones between the main story and side quests. What I mean is the length. I legit thought this was gonna be a 20-30 hour game. When i reached hour 30 of my playthrough and realized I wasn't even close to a conclusion, I think I knew I had bitten off more then I was planning. That misstep aside I ended up loving this game and want to play the rest of the series.... I just need to rest up first before I dive into Kiwami 1.
Let's actually talk about the game for a moment here. Kiryu and Majima quickly clicked as likeable characters to me and I cared about their stories. Combat is fun and the multiple styles are all great.... though both the default styles take a while to get there. The mad rush I felt at the end was fantastic and the last bosses are a joy to fight. Only real complaint is the pacing of the side stories. I loved being able to just stumble into various different events while on route to the next plot objective. But this became less common as the game went on and side stories started getting more tucked away. Also hot take here, the host club mingame is more tedious then fun and I like Kiryu’s business stuff as I could do that in the background. I’m excited to dive into Kiwami and probably Kiwami 2 this year... Though I’m not sure when just yet.
Tumblr media
Just gonna say it flat out, I think this is better the the 2018 game. The smaller scale helps in this style of game and Miles just naturally has a better move set then Peter. I'm not sure if they actually tightened up the combat system or if they just threw less bullshit enemies at you but fighting feels so much better in this one. Traversal is better too,  simply because they changed the button for tricks. In the original you have to hold down 2 face buttons to enter trick mode??? In hindsight that was such a bad call.
Having both the heal and venom powers run off the same meter was a good idea. Making the choice between keeping yourself alive guaranteed or potentially ending a fight quicker/disposing of a problem enemy is super fun. The player having to make small choices like this during combat is what helps it not be brainless. I love all the different venom skills you get. While they all achieve the same thing in stunning opponents, how you achieve that goal is up to you. Do you want to just slug the bastard, throw 'em up in the air, tackle the shit out of them? The choice is yours.
Only real big complaint is certain upgrades being NG+ locked. I know you want to encourage replays, but this is a shitty way to do it I feel. Also can we retire Rhino for the next game. Man has had 2 shitty boss fights now and I need a break. Between this and Spider-Verse, I'm honestly starting to like Miles as Spider-Man more then Peter.
Tumblr media
I got this game more on a whim then anything. I was definitely interested when it was first announced for the west. Vanillaware's beautiful art style in a story about giant robots beating the shit out of Kaijus? Sign me the fuck uuuuuu-oh wait it's an RTS? I had never played an RTS's before, mainly due to the sheer concept stressing me out. So I let it fall to the wayside. The game started coming up again though towards the end of the year with GotY on everyone's minds.  This revived my interest, especially as what I HAD planned to be playing around that time was... well. Cyberpunk. Don't think I need to say much more. Also I had worried for nothing as the Real Time Strategy was not that Real Time.
This game really lays on the analysis paralysis once you're out of the tutorial. Do you want to fight, do you want to do story, who's story do you want to do, what branch should you follow, how much should you play with this one character? It's very overwhelming at first. I decided to not go ham on just one character and swap around all the time. The twists in this game are equal parts exciting and infuriating. Learning something new always came with the caveat of more questions, or something you knew 'for sure' being disproven. Like when I learned 1 characters was actually 4 separate ones! Anyone that's played knows exactly what I'm talking about.
Natsuno ended up being my fav and not just because of.... obvious reasons. BJ was cute if unfortunately named and her relationship with Mirua was my favourite in the game. Not that there was much competition except for maybe Ogata and Tomi. I ended up really liking the combat but I can see why RTS fans say it's the weakest part. It's far from complex and I had a winning strat by the third or so real fight. Aka spam turrets and have the Gen 1′s gank all the bosses.
One quick thing I want to share was how I beat the boss at the end of Area 2. The one where Inaba is singing. I had Hijiyama use the limit break skill to bum rush the boss right off the hop. I took out half its health in one hit but Hijiyama’s Sentinel was on death’s door. Only thing that saved him was sending in Amaguchi to blow up a bunch of missiles. Hijiyama took it out on his next attack but lost his Sentinel at the same time. It was a real clutch victory and crazy fucking anime.
Tumblr media
The best way to really describe Carrion is that it's a fantastic proof of concept. Can you make a game where you play as The Thing? Why yes, yes you can. Carrion just needed a bit more tweaking to really bring this concept home and be the A+ game I know it can be. As it is now the game is a bit empty. The level design is super samey and the lack of a map is fucking brutal at points. I know it would make no sense for a blob monster to have a map but somethings you just have to gameify for convenience. The level design must have done something right as even though I was completely lost I still moved from area to area properly. Hell by the time I actually looked up a map I had 1 more item to get and I learned I was one door away from beating the game.
I love the idea of losing mass as you take damage and gaining more by eating people, but having abilities tied to size was a terrible idea. It just leads to tedium as I have to go and shed myself to the right size, do the puzzle, then of course I'm going to go back and rebuild myself to see if I can do the next segment at full power. Just make it so you can swap between abilities using the d-pad or something. I hope this game gets a sequel just so this sick ass concept can be fully realized.

Bob’s Birthday Fiction Master Post
Don’t talk about my own work too much so I’m indulging my birthday today (Earth Day represent!) by making a master list of my works on DA for anyone that might care to read.
Spoilers: Most of it’s female sumo based.
Sara Morganson Chronicles: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/gallery/71222930/sara-morganson-slash-futureverse Pulp sci fi meets female sumo action, basically.
Persumo aka a rough retelling of P4 starring a not terrible version of Hanako: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/gallery/70682801/persumo
Supersized Squadron Sumo Rangers: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/gallery/70540670/season-one Long running take on the super sentai/Powerrangers series minus the over the top anime reactions (sentai) or random cartoon slapstick (PR) or giant robots (dont got any toys to sell so I never bothered with the mecha for the team).
Totally Sumos, aka the most pointless Totally Spies Crossover that no one asked for but got anyways cuz I’m evil like that: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/gallery/70540670/season-one
Fruit princess stories: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/art/Blueblood-A-Blueberry-Princess-Story-765500932 Basically an inverse of the Willie Wonka Gum in a fantasy-like setting. Has a long as shit comissioned sequel found here: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/art/Comission-Tales-of-the-Plantea-Princesses-818896376
Sumo Media: Super Duper Sumos: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/art/Sumo-Media-1-Super-Duper-Sumo-Overview-678267677 My stab at non-fiction writing/reviewing. Tackled the utter pile of wasted potential that’s Super Duper Sumos (What? Like you’re actually surprised by that statement?). TLDR; Booma should have been replaced with Shemo and the show would have been so much better for it. =P
Colossal-Combatants: Mixed martial arts story featuring a friend's sumo OC. Set in the future verse.
https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/art/Colossal-Combatants-701773892
Sumo Slammers Quartet: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/art/Ben-10-The-Sumo-Slammers-Quartet-commission-805755788 Commissioned story featuring the female characters of Ben 10 getting sumofied. Considering Sumo Slammers is a thing in Ben 10 as a whole, I’m somewhat annoyed stories like these aren’t more common, niche nature not withstanding.
Naruto-Sumo-Gakure, Sumo Naruto AU with a pretty even balance of boys and girls featuring Boruto’s Dad: https://www.deviantart.com/bob-dude/art/Com-Naruto-Sumo-Gakure-774280974
So, yeah. A bit of birthday indulgence while a toot my own horn a bit. Toot. If you made it this far and aren’t into sumo stuff (or wg/fruit inflation for that matter) then hey, power to ya. And if you are, well now you got a whole bunch of mediocre stuff to read, don’tcha? ;)

Oracle: What kind of eccentricities does your muse have? Do they stem from something deeper or not? Do these quirks tend to make things difficult for them? (for Akai, Adrien and Minato!)
Tumblr media
Isamu Akai hates his name. Midorikawa Kai (Green) often teased him by calling him the “Red-Eyed Freak” or making mean remarks with including “red” in it. If he gets married, he’s taking his S/O’s surname.
The teasing was really bad, since he’s an albino and had to sit close to the school for gym classes outside.
Another note from his albinism is that he’s legally blind without glasses. He doesn’t wear them when out until he marries his S/O* (This particular Yellow by default) and slowly starts learning to not be a victim anymore. This happens when he starts up berry farms and caring for infant Pokemon.
Akai learned quickly from Green’s bullying to keep his answers very short. Yes, no, maybe. Due to this, he keeps his replies within ten words or less. He’ll talk forever if he’s extremely comfortable with that person. Example being his S/O*.
Example:Person: “Where are you going?”Akai: “…PokeCentre.”Person: “Why?”Akai: “…Delivery.”Person: “What are you delivering?”Akai: “…Berries.”Person: “Why berries?”Akai: “…The nurses ordered them.”
Tumblr media
Adrien was practically raised by anime. His mind knows (from the example of anime) who is in the wrong or not. He uses this weirdness of his to his advantage after Chameleon and actually pulls Marinette aside to ask why she’s off that day. Learns she’s being bullied and cuts ties with Lila.
Due to cutting ties with Sausage Hair, a lot of episodes involving her just… don’t happen. Well, maybe they do but not as the episode planned it.
Oni-chan would be Lila getting angry that Marinette was invited inside the mansion (for Mari’s protection) and Kagami sees Adrien’s public social media account with photos of all these guys and ONE girl hanging out in the background or beside him in these pictures. Mari tries to kiss a cardboard cut-out of Adrien as a dare, and Oni-chan happens, I guess.
Tumblr media
Minato. This boy is generally apathetic in regards to his own life. It’s what brought Nyx to Iwatodai in the first place. He’s a CASSANOVA for dating every girl (of age) he’s met.
Since Twin AU is my canon for him, he’s also got a small sister complex, but it does balance out with Minako having a small brother complex. They’re scarily close. Like, Minako dragged her bed down to the second floor just to sleep inside the same room as her brother. Oh, and they painted the room. Minato’s half is a fresh pastel blue and Minako’s is either orange or pink.
In the Runaways verse for p4, he’s using his lack of drive to help Souji/Yu/P4-kun to the nearest safe spot to save his progress. He’s also living with his sister (if not in butterfly form) in a run-down house that’s actually foreclosed. Kuma lives in Yosuke’s closet in canon so that means no more room. Maybe when they’re better friends with the Gang in Inaba, they stay in a spare room at Naoto’s?
In the Post Resurrection verse in p5, they’re still helping out other Fools. But this is special since Joker gets spooked when the pink and blue monarch butterflies get too close in a Palace that’s about to kick the Thieves out. Cue the flash of who they were and then… nothing. They wake up in the middle of Shibuya with nothing but the things they were buried in and phones in their pockets. Holy shit! It’s 2019!
It can go one of three ways in terms of living arrangements:
They’re staying with Akira/Ren
*LIVING with Naoto (@thedetectiveofinaba)
Working really hard and getting their own apartment
They also have a shared Palace. It’s a series of creepy houses with different people screaming at them from behind walls. Every level of the Palace is different. New voices, more crying. It’s basically a big, empty traditional Japanese house with nooses and box cutters laying about. Once the Thieves find the Treasure, the Palace changes drastically. Everywhere that has a noose, now has a chair that’s been kicked down and a store mannequin hanging there. Slowly swaying.
Their treasure? An unopened birthday present.

Differences between Post P4!Naoto (Naoto after P4 verse, after P4 spin off games and P4 events) and Post P5 AU!Naoto (Naoto after P5 AU verse, after P5 events) in nutshell:
Tumblr media
Post P4!Naoto is 17-18 years old, Post P5 AU!Naoto is 21-22
Post P5 AU!Naoto has a darker backstory than Post P4!Naoto does
Post P5 AU!Naoto was blackmailed for 4-5 years by Shido, Post P4!Naoto wasn’t threatened in any way
Post P4!Naoto believes that the police can do most of the work and that she thinks her coworkers know what they’re doing if they don’t show idiotism, Post P5 AU!Naoto doesn’t trust that the police can do anything unless proven otherwise and that she is one of the few who is capable of stopping criminals, and she doesn’t automatically think you are free of sin/corruption. (You need to earn the trust more and it might take a while)
Post P4!Naoto talks more about her days at Japan and visits the country frequently, Post P5 AU!Naoto keeps quiet about the most detailed bits and why she moved to LA in the first place and she doesn’t visit Japan at all (especially not Tokyo. She might use Kyoto airport but that’s it)
Post P4!Naoto doesn’t know a lot about grey sector and corruption and has less expert in general, Post P5 AU!Naoto considers herself as an expert on those two areas and has more expert on hard cases.
Post P4!Naoto can sense supernatural better than Post P5 AU!Naoto
Post P4!Naoto specializes in supernatural or just bizarre cases, Post P5 AU!Naoto in grey sector, obviously dubious and risky cases (after figuring out that she can use her suffering as an advantage)
Post P5 AU!Naoto can relate to abuse victims and possible scenarios better since she has been through similar experiences (and doesn’t want anyone to go through that living Hell)

Video Game, and Fandom Search
Hello!  With the summer coming to an end, I need some new partners to Write with! But,here is a quick run-down.  Name/Alias: Bocaj Age: 22 Time-Zone: EST Fandom Characters or OC's: This is Tricky. Some I like OC's, some I don't. So with any Fandom, I will make a note, of which.  Reply Length : Typically, a paragraph or two. Open to write more. Reply Time: I try to get at least one reply per day, will always attempt more. But, real life always comes first.  POV: Third Person, Past Tense.  Medium: Email or Discord. Email:[email protected]!  So, if you are still reading, lovely~!  Time, to list through what I am into currently, and any thoughts for plots and such. I always, always love a sense of story added in. In general, adventure themes, action, romance, Time-Whimey, War, and others, are themes I lean towards. Of course, for each Fandom here, not all apply to such.  Fandoms Start here:  JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Ahh, JoJo's.. Started it last year, because a co-worker had mentioned it was something to really enjoy, and at first I was a bit iffy. Though, now I am obsessed. I won't try to say I am the best fan around, but I do love the series from what I have read and seen. So, for this Fandom, I am open to both :Canon and OC Characters. Just not mixed together. If we want Canon, let's stick with them. Or, OC's, let's go that route only. I think, because the Multiverse Does Exist within Jojo's, creating our own Timeline within can be fun! Our own JoJo, and Jobro team! Perhaps have it set during a War, and see how Stands could turn the Whims of Fate.  Or, a more modern setting, with Stands.  Some Canon Characters I adore are: Caesar, Joseph (Both Young and Old) Jolyne, Josuke, Giorno, Bruno, Diavolo, DIO, Any Zeppeli if I am being honest, Lisa Lisa, SpeedWagon, (Not finished SBR) But I do like Johnny too! Others of course, too! Tales of Berseria: Probably my favorite Tales game, that I have personally played. For this, Canon Characters only. Though, very open to AU ideas for this game.  Perhaps, some school AU? Like their School DLC costumes. Or, take a Bizarre Route and give them all Stands and a JoJo like problem/World to deal with.  Not too many ideas for this game yet.  Persona 5,
my first Persona game. So, I am a little bias when it comes to this series. I have a understanding of Persona 4, though I do not have any real want to go back and play that title.(Nothing against those who love P4. I hear all the time, its better. And perhaps it is, I am not denying that.) I love the Phantom Thieves and their story, and can not wait for Persona 5 Royal!  When it comes to P5, I prefer to stick to Canon Characters. Open to add our own little head-canon thoughts to them. Also, a great topic of Debate: Ren or Akira.  I like Ren, because I am a Star Wars geek, and Ren makes me think of Kylo Ren ; however, either work for me. I was first introduced to the Akira name, from one of the manga series. But, again, I am not too stuck on it. If I had a choice, Ren, but Akira is just as good. (Kinda pairs him up with Akechi a little more, when its Akira, I feel.)  When it comes to ideas, I am quite open as well! One thought I have had, and it needs some work, is Crossing Persona 5 over, with Kingdom Hearts. Both Deal with Hearts, right? It could be as simple, as Persona 5 is a world within the Realm of Kingdom Hearts. But, the idea of having the Phantom Thieves, or at least one or two, work with Sora is such a fun thought! Open to do something based around the Dancing Costumes; I know in the Dancing game, its explained they are in the Meta-verse, for the entertainment of the Wardens, and their siblings. Though, I wouldn't mind creating some new Palace they deal with, where Dancing is an really odd and big factor in it.  If we want something with Shipping, my favorite ship is: AnnXMakoto.  Or, any AU spin. Phantom Thieves, in the world of Pokemon? Sure! Why Not>! Kingdom Hearts! Fill me, with the power of...Darkness! Another series I have loved for a long time. What's your favorite Trio?! Were you satisfied with KHIII? My trio, is Sea-Salt. As I loved 358/2 Days (Read as: Three, Five, Eight, Days Over Two....for some reason....)) and as for KHIII, I was! I know some weren't, but it delivered on everything I needed to feel, the feels.  Canon Characters, please.  But, again, any head-canon thoughts, feel free to share them!  For this Fandom, we can dive in anywhere. Want to explore a certain game more, with our own twists? Let's! Wanna do an AU, with our favorite characters? An AU Inspired by Final Fantasy X-2, starring Aqua, Kairi, Nanime, And Xion? I'd love ya! Re-write some Canon events, and create a new KH time-line? I love timey-whimey problems!  Favorite over-all KH character?  Xion, for me. Something about the quiet girl has always appealed to me. Though, Luxord, despite what short amount of time we see him, is another favorite.
Akira Toriyama's World, of Dragon Ball I have specific ideas for this one.  1) Deals within an AU, with Gohan and Videl, more focusing on their jobs as Saiyaman and Saiyman-2./Woman. The Buu Saga, wouldn't have occurred the way it did. Instead, allowing Gohan time to be more of a hero. Though, new foes would appear. Perhaps, the non-canon movie villains, like Bojack, Cooler, and others. Android 21, if we want to slide her into the mix too. Canon and OC's. But, Canon are the main focus. 2) Within Universe 6,  I'd like to adapt the Tuffle Arc from GT, but with the Universe 6 Saiyans! Cabba, Kale, and Caulifla having to fight off the Tuffle infection! I'd like to include the Twin Tuffles from Heroes, but open to OC Tuffles being the main Antagonist.  Despite what anyone might think of Disney's control of the Franchise, I am still quite in love with it. I do have high hopes for Episode IX. Though, I don't want to focus any RP in the new era. Instead, I'd like to go more in some AU route (A running theme in this post, I know..) But, The Force Unleashed in DLC, had plots of this nature. With Luke falling on Hoth, due to Starkiller, and Leia taking up the 'Last' Jedi role. And, if one does a search for scrapped Concept Art for Battlefront-4, they had all sorts of AU thoughts: Darth Obi-wan, Jedi-Maul, Sith Luke and Leia, Light-Side Vader, and so much more! I think, diving into some AU could be fun! An AU where Luke and Leia, serve the Empire, and its up to an Old Light Side Anakin to redeem his kids?  Instead of Qui-Gon being killed on Naboo, perhaps it was Obi-wan; allowing Qui-Gon to become Anakin's Master, but with the scar of losing his Padwan.  Or, perhaps a tale on Anakin and Obi-Wan, during Anakin's training. I finished reading Master and Apprentice , which is a canon book about Obi-wan and Qui-Gon, and loved it.  Or, another idea, dealing within EA's Battlefront II and Inferno Squad. I'd like a story with them, actual being the Elite Squad for the Empire, and not becoming Rebels. Might be odd to write from the Empire's POV. But, I wish they had gone another way with those characters. It is was so underwhelming to see Iden just randomly have a change of heart. Without seeing the Bad-ass Special Force Commander.
Though, I do not have as many ideas/thoughts for these, here are some others. ! Sword Art Online/Gun Gale Online My Hero Academia  Super Sentai/Power Rangers Power Rangers 2017 Movie-Verse Pokemon The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Catherine/Katherine Thanks for reading!

People really seemed to like my P5xHarry Potter AU Headcanons, I decided to drop a random assortment of other ones here plus outline the roles of some confidants (Spoilers for P5):
-          Because Yusuke visits the kitchen so often (He’s a hungry boy after all!), he and the house elves end up on a first-name basis. The House Elves LOVE him, and Yusuke does feel a sort of fondness and appreciation for them (he is also very Pro-House Elf Rights), and he was actually uncomfortable enough with them referring to him with such formal terms as “Master Kitagawa” because it REEKED of implications of servitude that he INISTED they call him by his first name. He’d free all of them if he could but he also knows that that is not his place to do so.
-          Haru spent some portion of her life in France so when she was younger, she wanted to go to Beauxbatons but because her father set up an arranged marriage with an older boy from another pureblood family in England, her father sent her to Hogwarts instead so she could have a chance to get to know her fiancé, Who is really abusive, a Pureblood-elitist/Death Eater (or whatever this Verse’s version of a Death Eater is) sympathizer and who she DOES NOT like at all . However, after befriending Akira and the others, she starts to feel glad that she came to Hogwarts instead (eventually considering it more her home than her own house) and it gives her the strength to start breaking out of the engagement.
-          Coming from a Muggle family, Both Makoto and Sae were born with magic and although at first their parents didn’t approve of Sae being a magic user when she first displayed signs of magic capabilities, by the time Makoto started displaying her magical abilities, they had more or less become accepting of their daughters
-          Makoto considers being at a school like Hogwarts to be a complete privilege and studies her ass off to learn as much as she can about magic and has aspirations to one day become an Auror like her Sister. Naturally, she accepts to becoming a prefect in her fifth year and eventually becomes the Ravenclaw Head Girl as well.
-          Yuki Mishima, Hifumi Togo, Naoya and Kazuya Makigami are all students at Hogwarts as well, with Hifumi being a Ravenclaw, Yuki and Naoya being Hufflepuffs, and Kazuya being a Slytherin.
-          Ichiko Oya is a reporter for the Daily Prophet (Think Rita Skeeter but 1000x less aggravating) and she’s one of the top reporters for the Daily Prophet
-          Toranosuke Yoshida is a lower-ranking official in the Ministry of Magic trying to work his way up to the position of Minister of Magic, but due to his vocal dismay at all the Pureblood elitism/preference and Death Eater-sympathizing sentiments within the ministry coupled with his inability to be able to reach people, he is one of the most-disgraced politicians in the ministry. (He has good ideas that want to make the magic world a better place full of equal opportunity for all races and bloodlines and provide opportunities for the younger generations of magic users but he lost his chances when he accidentally insulted some of the higher ministry officials)
-          Igor is the Headmaster of Hogwarts in this verse, and he is a man of many secrets (In later years, it starts to seem like not is all as it seems with him). He has two adopted twin girls: Caroline and Justine who act as his assistants. He had had other assistants in the past (Elizabeth, Theodore, and Margaret, who all bear some family relation to the twins as well) but they eventually all retired and decided to leave after some time to do their own things.
-          Tae Takemi is the School Nurse and her methods of medical treatment are… unorthodox, even by Wizarding Standards but she gets the job done well and efficiently so Igor lets her stay on as a staff member at the school
-          Munehisa Iwai is a wand maker/seller who had defected from the Death Eaters before he changed his name and became a Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts before he retired and started making wands.
-          Madarame is a famous painter even in this verse, in fact if a Pureblood family of Upper class standing doesn’t get their family portraits done by Madarame, it’s considered a social faux pas.
-          Madarame himself isn’t a pureblood, but Yusuke is, and Madarame takes him under his wing as his apprentice (after the tragic deaths of his parents when he was a little boy) but he is also a neglectful and manipulative person who tends to plagiarize and make his apprentices do his work for him, and after Yusuke realizes that his mentor isn’t the kind father figure he had been tricking himself into believing all these years, he starts becoming more rebellious towards his mentor, vowing one day to break away and become more successful as a painter than him.
-          Sadayo Kawakami, Noriko Kashiwagi, Isako Toriumi, Kinshiro Morooka as well as the rest of the teachers that canonically taught at Shujin High in P5 are all teachers in this Verse (on this note, other appearances by P3 and P4 party members are all Hogwarts Alums/Upper Year students will be seen in this verse). Jun Kurosu is the Herbology professor though. A/N: I don’t have any subjects assigned to any of the teachers but I think King Moron as the Potions professor would be a good fit.
-          Kamoshida WAS the Flying instructor until after a series of Sexual Harassment complaints forced him to be fired from his job. He would later be replaced by Tatsuya Suoh.
-          Sojiro Sakura runs a Coffee/Teahouse in Hogsmeade and he often checks in on Futaba to make sure she’s doing alright.
-          Sae Niijima, Ryotaro Dojima, and Naoto Shirogane are all Aurors in this verse (With Naoto being the Youngest Auror in history as she took on the job at age 17, a path that would later be followed and succeeded by Goro at age 16 years later). On a side note: Upon graduation, Chie Satonaka also becomes an Auror as well.
-          Masayoshi Shido is a high-ranking politician in the Minister of Magic and not only is he a Pureblood and a Pureblood Elitist, he’s also covertly a Death Eater, who has aspirations to become the Minister of Magic so that he can finally implement his policies to help carry out the will of his master (see below) as well as shape the Magic Community into his own (twisted) vision
-          Yaldabaoth is the Voldemort-type figure in this verse and a POWERFUL Dark Lord who the Death Eaters all pledge their loyalty to and has plans to reshape the world and wreak havoc as he pleases just out of pure sadism.
That’s about it for now but in future posts I’ll detail some Yule Ball shenanigans, possible Upper Year plot developments as well as maybe outline the roles of some of the P3/P4 party members you could see in this verse.
If anybody wants to write fic based off of these AU headcanons, feel free to do so and please link back and tag me in it so I can see!

My lifelong spiritual awakening/rebirth; how God taught Adam his plan of salvation
How Do We Enter the Kingdom of God, Be Born Again, Converted or Spiritually Awakened?
Spiritual awakening/enlightenment/mysticism, to me are also known as conversion, spiritual rebirth or spiritual transformation and is the ultimate goal of any religion. Conversion literally means to turn around.  It is the positive result of an identity crisis. For various religious descriptions of conversion/awakening, see Jewish devekut https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devekut Buddhist Boddhi https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlightenment_in_Buddhism, Islamic Sufism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sufism and Hindu Moksha .https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moksha
Spiritual awakening/rebirth or conversion is both an event and a lifelong journey of discovery.  The conversion events are baptism by water, Spirit, and blood-a mighty change of heart.
The conversion journey is the lifelong daily process of coming to know and become like God and divine self by developing a personal relationship with God daily by sincerely and persistently conversing with God in prayer and scripture study. Then it includes following the thoughts and feelings God sends us daily by his Spirit like ideas of how to serve others and be more loving.
I like how Elder Bednar, an apostle today of Jesus Christ, compares the whole process of becoming born again to the steps required to make a pickle. "Through faith in Christ, we can be spiritually prepared and cleansed from sin, immersed in and saturated with His gospel, and purified and sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise—even born again."
Ye Must Be Born Again
https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2007/04/ye-must-be-born-again?lang=eng#p41
How God taught Adam and Eve his plan of salvation, how to become born again
To put it simply, God taught our first parents Adam and Eve in Moses 6:
"59 That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory.
60 For by the water ye keep the commandment; by the Spirit [aka 'fire'] ye are justified [receive a personal witness of  God's remission of your sins], and by the blood ye are sanctified [mighty change of heart and nature, becoming as a child, saint, purified heart with desires to do no more evil but to do good continually];
64 And it came to pass, when the Lord had spoken with Adam, our father, that Adam cried unto the Lord, and he was caught away by the Spirit of the Lord, and was carried down into the water, and was laid under the water, and was brought forth out of the water.
65 And thus he was baptized, and the Spirit of God descended upon him, and thus he was born of the Spirit, and became quickened [made alive] in the inner man [born of the blood, mighty change of heart/nature].
66 And he heard a voice out of heaven, saying: Thou art baptized with fire, and with the Holy Ghost. This is the record of the Father, and the Son, from henceforth and forever;
67 And thou art after the order [priesthood] of him [Jesus Christ] who was without beginning of days or end of years, from all eternity to all eternity.
68 Behold, thou art one in me, a son of God; and thus may all become my sons. Amen.
Wow. What a beautiful story of conversion! I can think of no better teacher than God himself to Adam and each of us by his Spirit.
Another way of describing gospel principles is this: "We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Articles of Faith 1:4, Joseph Smith, Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints
https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/a-of-f/1?verse=4&lang=eng#p4
Here are 3 main parts I have learned of spiritual awakening/ conversion/rebirth from my experience
1. Personal relationship/revelation
Just before He suffered for us in Gethsemane during His intercessory prayer, Jesus said "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/17?lang=eng Therefore, perhaps the most important part of spiritual awakening/rebirth and purification is the lifelong personal relationship building with God, getting to know God by conversing with God in mighty prayer & scripture study daily to build our faith in Christ for repentance and purification.
I think I first started really seeking that personal relationship with God when I was about 14 when my parents weren't able to take care of me because of divorce and my mom's mental breakdown. It's interesting how difficult times turn out to be positive because they turn our hearts to God. At that time I started reading the scriptures every day, specifically the Book of Mormon because someone recommended that to me to help me get through a difficult time. The Book of Mormon brought me peace, love, comfort, and joy like no other book could.
The seed of faith from reading the Book of Mormon grows up into a tree of eternal life, whose fruit is sweetest above all, full of grace, truth, love, joy, and peace to each of us personally. See Alma 32: 27-43
https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/32?lang=eng
Oh, the joy and beauty of Repentance! Repentance literally means a change of mind. With our free will we decide to sacrifice or give up the desire for a particular sin or sins. We plead to God for forgiveness, confess our sin to anyone else we may have offended and do our best to stop doing that sin. As we consciously decide to sacrifice sin(s) to know God, God can forgive our sin and purify and change our heart, which literally transforms our sinful desires into righteous desires.
And how joyful and beautiful is receiving forgiveness! It is the peace we feel when we are able to let go of our sins and embrace God's love. When I was 19 headed on a mission to share the gospel of faith, repentance, and baptism I remember not feeling worthy to teach because of my past sins, even though I tried hard to repent. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is ourself.
Then I stumbled upon this verse: "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." Hebrews 8:12
https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/heb/8?verse=12&lang=eng#p12
That verse brought tears to my eyes; I was so happy and relieved because I knew at that moment, God was speaking sweet mercy and peace to me directly, through his Spirit from reading the scriptures.
Atonement is literally at-one-ment, meaning we make a conscious decision to sacrifice our fallen nature's will to sin and then embrace God's and our divine nature's will to do good and right. Our will, desires, and needs for us become God's will, desires and needs for us and his will for us becomes ours. We become one in mind and heart with God and each other because we become pure in heart. God is intimately aware of our hopes, fears, and dreams and has a special calling and plan for each of us personally to use our talents, dreams and experience to do good in this world.
And we can find out God's will for us each day. President Russell M. Nelson of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints said in April 2018:
"Follow the example of the Prophet Joseph. Find a quiet place where you can regularly go. Humble yourself before God. Pour out your heart to your Heavenly Father. Turn to Him for answers and for comfort.
Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses—yes, the very longings of your heart. And then listen! Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will “grow into the principle of revelation.”

Satonaka didn’t seem like the type to indulge in sweets. Meat would be an easy answer, but asking about friendship steak instead of friendship chocolate would have been difficult to explain. Compared to birthdays or Christmas, however, today’s gifts hardly mattered in the long run. When in doubt, anything that could be consumed was a safe bet.
Making saikoro steak was as easy as following the recipe. Ponzu, grated daikon, garlic oil and of course, the steak. It was more of a light dinner than a snack, but just in case she demanded something close to traditional, there was chocolate pudding in the fridge.
“I’m not sure what you meant by having a ‘girl’s night out’, but no matter. I’m sure this is better suited to your tastes than chocolate, no?”
Despite several personal preferences and various differences between the two roommates, a commonality they shared pertained to the mid-winter holiday currently taking the city by storm. Another Valentine's Day. Another day of lovesick couples taking up most restaurants or other entertainment venues. Another day of the brunette eagerly awaiting for day's end and relishing in discounted sweets come tomorrow. Chie never minded or particularly cared for the love-themed celebrations, not even during her time at Yasogami. Exchanging chocolates with her friends was the only closest thing she considered to be seen as participating in the festivities.
Unless they didn't like her chocolate. Sometimes it never tasted edible or...'sweet' in their words.
Better to keep her loses in the past. As for now, the brunette stuck to her guns and trusted in her honed, trained abilities. Meaning the kitchen belonged to the bustling detective while Chie carefully prepared their table for tonight's single's dinner. "It was more like an invitation to do somethin' a lil' different, maybe go out for dessert somewhere 'n walk around afterwards." No such luck tonight considering how many people occupied the sidewalks and walkways during the day.
Tumblr media
"It would've been nice, but hey, I'm always down to keep it indoors! Pluuuuuus, this jus' means we can do dinner our way!" No fancy getups, no table etiquette, no wait times! That's the best part! "I am DEFINITELY going to make a stop by the corner store tomorrow though, and buyin' me some of that deeeeelicious after-Valentine goodies!!" Not just for herself, either.
Tumblr media
"I'll grab you a small thing too, as a thanks for making me steak tonight."

Fa La La: The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide
It’s my favorite time of the year, you guys: It’s officially socially acceptable to listen to Christmas tunes around the clock, plus I have a valid excuse to spend hours scouring the Internet in search of great gift ideas for you to give your loved ones! (I may also have shopped a little lot in the process. Oops.)
Note: Some of these featured products are from our sponsors, while others are affiliate links that will earn me a small commission.
So without further ado, here’s what I’m digging this year:
FOR THE NOMADIC SOUL
Have a friend or family member in your life who is only satisfied when doing something new, exciting and/or unique? (I know a little something about that!) Well, Tinggly has the cure that ails them. I’ve always been a fan of giving experiences instead of mere stuff, and this is the perfect solution: You can gift your loved one a personalized box that contains a voucher to a bucket list kind of item that most people only dream of. Dinner with a NASA astronaut? James Bond sightseeing tour in Thailand? VIP helicopter over the Vegas Strip? Yoga retreat in India? Tango lesson in Buenos Aires? Tinggly has something for every taste. I also love that you can choose your box by theme: birthday, Christmas, wedding, couples and more.
FOR THE SUN BUM
True story: I allot more space in my luggage to sunglasses than I do to anything else, as heaven forbid I be photographed in the same shades over and over again! But I can’t help it: I’m always outside doing something fun, and if there’s one thing fashion-wise that I care about the most it’s what’s on my face. And I love the selection of women’s sunglasses available at Sunglass Warehouse. I’m a huge fan of Aviators—bonus points if they’re mirrored—and Sunglass Warehouse has so many different kinds of Aviators in stock, many available for under $20. (With as much as I change out my shades, I like keeping my cost per item as low as possible.) For those shopping for the holidays, Sunglass Warehouse is offering 40% off one pair of shades from now through Nov. 30 with the code SPENDLESS40.
FOR THE TECH-HEAVY TRAVELER
We’ve all been there before: You’re traveling all day and your iPhone quickly depletes of all power. It’s near impossible to locate an outlet at an airport, and even my backup battery usually dies well before my travel day has ended (a nightmare scenario as I rely on it for ride-sharing when I finally reach my destination). Which is why Lynktec’s Reeljuice 5X Power Bank + 10 Watt Rapid Wall Charger is my new favorite thing; it’s got four feet of retractable charging cord, and it gives me FIVE full charges before it needs to be re-powered. No more fighting my fellow fliers for coveted outlet space at the airport; in fact, I can even charge my phone while I fly. I’m giving one of these bad boys away down at the bottom of the post, but you can also get 25 percent off (site-wide!) with the code LUNATICATLARGE25.
FOR THE SCIENCE GEEK (OR THE TWEEN)
This Lock Pick Beginners Box is at the very top of my DIY-loving husband’s own list, and for good reason: It gives you the tools (literally and figuratively) that you need to learn how to pick locks, with two different sets of practice locks that have clear sides so that the trainee can see what’s going on behind the scenes with the mechanisms. This is the perfect present for a dude—what husband/boyfriend doesn’t love tinkering?—but also would be a fantastic and affordable option for your fidgety, problem-solving tween.
FOR THE PHILANTHROPIST
You guys know my love for St. Jude runs deep. It’s just so cool what they do there: On top of being one of the top research facilities in the world, St. Jude also ensure that its patients don’t have to worry about a thing (like, for example, cost or lodging for the family) other than getting better. I donate to St. Jude periodically throughout the year, but I’m loving their new initiative, This Shirt. All you have to do is sign up to donate $20 to St. Jude monthly, and you get this exclusive Tee that all your favorite country artists (and your favorite blogger!) are wearing. Because helping others is really the reason for the season.
FOR THE ETERNAL STUDENT
Alert, alert, self plug coming! Kristin Sweeting and I are headed to Portugal next July to teach the ultimate writing, photography, marketing and business workshop—and we’d love for you to join us! We’ve extended registrations through Dec. 31 and have a handful of spots left (and a really amazing group attending so far!). Come learn the ropes of the biz with us while surfing, roaming, doing yoga and exploring Lisbon’s charming surrounds with us in your downtime. Bring your significant other or business partner or come solo. Just think of it as continuing education, a tax write-off and a vacation all rolled into one! As a Christmas special, I’m including two one-hour coaching sessions for anyone who signs up by Dec. 15, one by Skype prior to the trip and one in Portugal.
FOR THE AT-HOME COOK
We’re always experimenting in the kitchen, and try to eat as clean (i.e. no processed food) as possible, meaning that adding herbs and spices is clutch for our style of dining. I’ve had a subscription to Raw Spice Bar for the past year, and I love that every three months, a collection of six individually packaged, freshly-ground, seasonal spices arrives in my mailbox and that I don’t have to commit to buying the entire spice jar before I know I like it. You can even customize your diet to Paleo, vegan, vegetarian, healthy or “eat anything” and, of course, buy more from the Raw Spice Bar shop if you like what you tried.
FOR THE HEALTHY DINER
I’m all about collecting cookbooks, even if SVV is technically the chef in our household. My current favorite is A Beautiful Mess Weekday Weekend, which just came out this month and compiles even more healthy, vegetarian recipes than Elsie and Emma post on their blog. If you already own ABM, may I suggest the following: Laura Lea Balanced, Body Love and Cravings (maybe technically not healthy, but who doesn’t want to look like Chrissy Teigen?!).
FOR THE NEW HOMEOWNER
Earlier this year, my interior designer friend Kendall Simmons and her husband Kane launched Salut Home, a thoughtfully curated collection of home goods and accents, and I drool over all their colorful offerings every time the email hits my inbox. My current obsession? Their new collection of Leah Singh pillows (all things Leah Singh, really)—they have 96 styles in stock! And bonus, they’re on sale for Black Friday (use the code LEAH20), or you can sign up for their newsletter and receive a promo code for 10 percent off.
FOR THE SHUTTERBUG
While I’ll never fully replace my DSLR, ever since my mom gave me the Canon G7X Mark II for Christmas last year, it’s replaced my Canon 6D in my purse as my daily camera. It’s still got the manual settings so I can play around with the exposure, but is small and compact and great for videos. (Check out the travel videos I’ve been making for evidence.)
FOR THE BIG KID IN YOUR LIFE
For SVV’s last birthday, I got him a Phantom 4 Pro+ drone, and he loves it. He was a former aviation tech in the Navy and daydreams about flying all the time. Coupled with his penchant for photography, it was the perfect gift (and has come in handy on many a work project for us, too!). I think the P4 Pro is great for someone who does photography professionally; however, if your loved one isn’t that well-versed in drones yet, I recommend a cheaper, lighter model like the DJI Spark as a starter drone.
FOR THE ADVENTURER
I’ve had five different GoPros since I got my first one seven years ago, and the quality has improved significantly. After watching some of my YouTubers film exclusively with the GoPro Hero 6, I’m adding the newest model to my wishlist for our upcoming ski adventures (and it finally comes equipped with an LCD screen, too—you used to have to buy those a la carte).
FOR THE DOG OWNER
I bought a pair of travel pillows from the entrepreneurs behind Doggie Duffel, and I’m intrigued by their latest (fully-funded) project that’s essentially an all-in-one travel kit for your pup. Ella doesn’t have one of these yet, but I think I know what she’ll be finding under the Christmas tree…
FOR THE ART LOVER
I’ve been a long-time fan (turned friend) of Leslee Mitchell’s, and every time her gorgeous photography pops into my feed, I mentally bookmark it for the next time I’m doing a room makeover. I recently snagged several of her toy car prints, and I’m absolutely in love! Any giftee would be lucky to own a series of prints from this talented artist.
FOR THE SPORTY GIRL
Pretty much all my travel apparel comes from Gap Fit or Athleta—after all, I’m a girl who places comfort above style, but with most athleisure, luckily you can have both!—and a few pieces I’m loving this winter are: this metallic sweatshirt, this jersey keyhole top, this pullover hoodie and these black, leopard-print leggings.
!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + '://' + 'widgets.rewardstyle.com' + '/js/shopthepost.js';d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') {window.__stp.init();}}(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script');
JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content.
  FOR THE VINTAGE LOVER
Wish you’d grown up in the 70s? (Me, too.) You can embrace a bygone era with this sleek record player in a portable brief case that doubles as a CD player and has USB ports. Bonus: It comes in five different colors!
FOR YOUR FRIEND WHO WORKS FROM HOME
You know that girl who works in her coziest pajamas and barely leaves her computer desk all day long, except to refill her coffee/water/bourbon glass? (AHEM.) Welllll, how much would she love to upgrade from her ratty old PJs to this amazing unicorn onesie? (Really bad, I’ll tell ya!) For one that’s a bit more subtle, Nordstrom currently has this beauty on sale.
Stocking Stuffers Under $50
Savannah Bee Co. body products. I was stoked when I recently spotted Savannah Bee’s entire line, like this body butter, for sale at Target!
Geometric rings. Psst, SVV, looking for something small to get me? Start here.
Paddywax candle. My favorite candles are those that you can reuse the container as tabletop decor after it’s burned out.
Herb mill and grinder. As someone who’s very lazy in the kitchen, I love any tool that does the hard work for me.
S’well bottle. My cousins gave me one of these nifty canteens two years ago, and it’s been a game changer in my travels as I no longer have to abuse the planet by buying bottled water.
Stocking Stuffers Under $20
Taylor Swift’s reputation album. The Old Taylor can’t come to the phone because she’s out there SLAYING it with her new album. Man, this one is going to rack up the awards, and it should be in any music lover’s repertoire of tunes.
Flamingo ornament. I’m a sucker for all things flamingos and also ornaments, and Nordstrom at Home has a whole lot of cute, travel-themed ones, many of which are on sale.
Vintage maps. SVV and I are map lovers to the core. We own more than 30 globes and a number of vintage maps, but those are tough to find, which is why I like this Etsy store, which has both domestic and international city prints.
Monogrammed copper wine stopper. Because who doesn’t want their initial atop their vino?!
Twist Magazine’s winter issue. Launched by my good friend Keryn, this new travel publication is a gorgeous glossy that’s the perfect stuffer for the family traveler.
A taco holder. What taco lover doesn’t need this in their life?!
Stocking Stuffers Under $10
Sheet masks. I’ve been addicted to sheet masking for a year now, and while the TonyMoly variety pack is my go-to order, I’m equally as obsessed with these reindeer and penguin masks from Target.
eos holiday lip balm. I keep an eos in every bag I own, and I just popped this trio of holiday flavors (peppermint mocha, vanilla bean, ginger) into my shopping cart!
A manatee tea infuser. Or if manatees aren’t your thing (you crazy), there’s also a sloth, shark or loch ness monster.
iPhone charging cords in myriad colors. Show of hands if you, like me, are always on the hunt for that missing iPhone/USB/mini-USB cord?
The Oregon Trail Card Came. Because kids these days don’t even know what it’s like to ford a river and then die of dysentery when you’re almost there.
Pop socket. This little doodad changed my life—and made me stop dropping my iPhone altogether. I didn’t know how I’d feel about it, but I love it.
Rare earth magnets. We bought these to tack things to our wall on our four-month RTW cruise, and they’ve been a game-changer on actually keeping all of our cards and photos up on the fridge. They never fall, like, ever.
Since it doesn’t feel like the holidays until I start giving away gifts, I’m giving away one big C&C stocking stuffer grab bag, full of some of my favorite things, including the Lynktec charging station, a selection of Raw Spice Bar spices, and plenty of other stocking stuffers for you to give your family and friends (or keep for yourself—I won’t judge!). The value of this box o’ fun is currently over $300—also brimming with music, beauty items, and other odds and ends I’ve purchased and wanted to share with you—though I’ll likely continue to add to that as I finish my Black Friday shopping.
All you have to do to enter is tell me your favorite holiday tradition. Don’t have one? Tell me what’s the top of your Christmas wishlist! It’s that simple. Leave a comment below, and I’ll randomly choose a winner of this bag o’ fun on Dec. 1.

A certain grey-haired Fool pulls Chie close and plants a lot of kisses on her cheek after class is over. She could tell by the way she was leaning on him during class. "I love you.~" His voice came in a whisper in her ear. (:3 Because I felt like it~)
Another boring class. At this point in the day, Chie mentally checked out instead of willing herself to concentrate on whatever pointless nonsense their teacher kept spewing. If it's not to the brunette's interest, or if it's downright boring, it didn't require Chie's attention.
Through sleepy brown eyes and a gapping yawn, she managed to hold out on another tedious lesson. And with it, the end of the school day.
Tumblr media
Additionally, and to the teen's surprise, a very needy boyfriend clinging to her jacket as well. It wasn't new, but more sudden and immediate than his previous advances. She barely made it out the homeroom door before Yu entrapped her in his embrace. No arguments were made, however couldn't he wait just a little longer until Chie returned her books to her locker? He must be desperate.
"Heehee! Sheesh, I didn't think you'd be all over me as soon as class was over." Joyous giggles accompanied a bright smile as a response to Yu's affectionate gestures. "I take it you're not too worried about anyone else seeing you act like this either, huh?"
It didn't matter to Chie. It never did.

Here's your curry!
- severs her a mystery food x curry using the same ingredients that Chie used back at the camping trip -
Now enjoy ~☆!
"It's about damn time you showed up with that curry!" All the heckling centered around her abysmal cooking habits and the 'traumatic experiences' caused by a single night of so-called 'deadly decision making' worked up the brunette into a state of boiling fury. At the end of the day, it was a loaded plate of cooked food. Something made in a generous attempt at appeasing her own friends' hunger, on top of building more of a solid bond between them.
Plus, didn't the boys leave the cooking up to the girls, anyway? They should have the blame shoved onto their shoulders instead since their assumptions regarding the girls’ cooking expertise were so high.
Tumblr media
"I will, kind stranger! Now I'll SHOW you guys this food isn't as bad as everyone cries about!" The color...looked suspicious. Did the sauce always have a tint of purple and green mixed in with the brown broth? And didn't they cut the potatoes in half last time? No, doubts and uncertainties wouldn't win her the argument. Chew it, swallow, take another spoonful, and repeat the cycle.
So she did! Several times, actually, until half the plate disappeared into the brunette's stomach. Each intake felt like a large brick fell from extreme heights, splashing into a vat of acid. Slowly...and painstakingly dissolving until it disappeared. Something gurgled, then something moaned in displeasure. Internally, the battle for digestion just began.
Externally, on the other hand-
Tumblr media
"..y-you see? It's...not as baaaaaad as everyone makes it...to be..." Chie believed in her stomach! It was built by, molded by, and trained for occasions just like this! It wouldn't be lying if she said it did pass through without her collapsing, or excusing herself to the nearest bathroom. No porcelain heaven here! "You guys are just...j-jerks for saying Yukiko and I did a horrible job..."
Stay strong, Chie! Do it for you and Yukiko!

M!A chie now has to eat mystery food x curry or else she'll never leave!
Not this charade again...
Tumblr media
"Alright, now LISTEN HERE! Just because me and Yukiko messed up our camping curry THE ONE TIME doesn't mean any of you grey-faced people or other pests have to keep prodding her or teasing me about it!" How was she supposed to know mint and garlic never mixed well?! Or milk and gravy! If it was comprised of the same texture, it should taste good!
It was all overexaggerated anyway. The boys remained...alive and kicking after tasting their concoction, so it wasn't like anyone died that night. Just a few upset stomachs! "But since some of you are soooooooo determined to never let me forget that incident, then FINE! C'mon then! Bring me a fresh plate of that so-called 'Mystery Food X'."
That's if they can perfectly replicate it.
