02/08/23 - Baker City, OR - EARLY MORNING SNOWSCAPE - The U-Haul roadtrip to Texas continues. Was having good luck avoiding snow in the mountain passes on this roadtrip until last night when things got pretty dicey real quick. My big mistake was not knowing I had a mountain pass to traverse last night. By the time I did, I found myself in a raging snowstorm and had no choice but to continue. Things quickly progressed from bad to worse with pretty close to zero visibility and only one lane open with only faint tire tracks to follow. An 18-wheeler passed me up and I decided to tuck in behind it and follow its tail lights and tire tracks. We were only going about 20 mph and it seemed like it took forever to get over the pass. A big thank you to the truck driver that led the way. Things calmed down as we got to lower elevations with better visibility and driving conditions. Was feeling very lucky and relieved when I got to Baker City where I found an old school roadside motel that was surprisingly cozy and nice. This morning, walked out the door and was struck by the beauty of this untouched snowscape. What a difference 12 hours makes. Life is good!

Been really pondering Fantoccio and the cursed citizens lately… like, if you’re stuck in a city for 15 years with some of your only company being these cursed globby versions of the people that used to surround you normally, you’d start to Notice Things that remind you of who they used to be, right?
