Y'ALL why the FUCK are the Mappa animators showing of the CORPSE of a DEAD FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL like teenage boys show off their Bugattis on tiktok. They got her ass at EVERY angle. They even added an INTERNAL SHOT from inside her popped fuckin' eyesocket PLEASE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mappa really dropped this at our feet like a cat brings dead fucking birds. That's the energy this emits. They're so proud of themselves.
If you REALLY want to dig in they even added "that one random item that's here for some reason that has literally nothing to do with cars but why not". Like people will just. Set their cat or a bottle of some expensive fancy brand of alcohol on top of their car and have a shot of it for. . . I don't know? An attention grab or something, EXEPT THE RANDOM ITEM IS JUST HER EYEBALL AFTER IT GOT SUPER SOAKERED OUT OF HER HEAD?? That's VILE man. This shit requires a life sentence MINIMUM. DAMN.
Tumblr media
And then they have the AUDACITY to tease us that she might come back. I'VE SEEN THE NEW MANGA CHAPTERS they are NOT bringing her ass back (unless they pull a SIKE at the very end or something but come ON) but he looks so HOPEFUL I'm SICK.

AS AN ANIME BOOMER WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ANIME STUDIO (i'm a newbie in watching anime btw so i want to know more <3)
this is going to contain anime recommendations too <3
if you're expecting mappa to be in this list, i'm apologizing in advance because it's not :") this post is entirely to gush about studio shaft so thank you so much for asking this question. dw there are other studios after i finish my studio shaft spiel:
Tumblr media
let me tell you guys how the love story between studio shaft and i began. i was a child watching shoujo kakumei utena and i fell in love. it was... so unlike any other anime i’ve watched as a child, especially when i was watching blue dragon, pokemon, and naruto in the sides. it had a female main character, had homosexual undertones that made may or may not pushed me further in the closet, but most of all: it was unique.
enter: arakawa under the bridge was an experience. then sayonara zetsubou sensei. god. but at this point, i still haven’t pinpointed that they were all from the same studio. and then, here comes the monogatari series.
the monogatari series will always be the greatest pieces of animation (and by that, i don’t necessarily mean plot but the animation itself) in all of the shit that i watched, and when i say i’ve watched lots of animation, i mean lots. but the monogatari series will always stand out as the best. the thing about good animation that im searching for is a distinct style that you can see from afar. this is actually one of the reasons why i don’t really consider mappa as one of my top animation studios because while they’re amazing, and they really are, it’s not the type of animation that you glance at and then go “ohhh, it’s mappa” unless you sit down for a couple of minutes. well, you can, but i’m the type of person who prefers metaphors over descriptors, you know?
anyway, studio shaft’s animation of the monogatari series is ingrained in my writing. i always want to make my writing look and feel like the monogatari series which is so hard to do, but i can proudly say that one of my main inspirations is studio shaft.
Tumblr media
THEN MAHOU SHOUJO MADOKA CAME OUT AND I—
mahou shoujo madoka magica. my sweet. this is the time when i finally recognized studio shaft’s animation and it was the best feeling ever. the head tilts, the framing, the backgrounds, the sudden texts. the tragic and confused atmosphere. and then nisekoi. i also recognized the animation and yes, it was also the best feeling ever. and i was obsessed with nisekoi for the longest time and to be honest, i was one of those people who fought in the comments section of chia-anime and fighting for team chitoge.
a dream come true: mekakucity actors. i was the biggest fan of the kagerou project and when i found out studio shaft was animating it? i wanted to bawl my eyes out. of course, it was beautifully done as i expected, and of course, as a fan of kagerou project, i was disappointed by how it ended, but still, the point is: studio shaft.
some notable animes from studio shaft: mahou sensei negima, sangatsu no lion, kino no tobi, maria holic, ef, uchiage hanabi, etc. etc.
Tumblr media

A few thoughts on the last Dororo episode nobody asked for
Major spoilers ahead
I planned to write about every episode, however work consumed most of my energy and time. But I felt like writing about the last one and boy, it was good! I watched it during my lunch break and I went back to work with red, puffy eyes and a silly smile on my lips.
Honestly, I had no idea what to expect on the end and when episode 23 aired was was super confused about what would happen, since it was so widely different from the manga and from Blood Will Tell.
From the first time Tahomaru showed up I was sure he would die somewhat similarly as he does in the manga, but I was absolutely struck when Hyakki’s eyes opened on his forehead (so disgusting! lol) and during all the fight I had tears streaming down my cheeks. I was even talking to my bf this morning about how I was clueless of Tahomaru’s fate. His sacrifice and strength fighting the last demon to not succumb under his will and become a demon himself was just beautiful.
Hyakki saying they were the same, because he was empty like him made me cry a bit more, of course. Tahomaru was nothing but a good-hearted and lonely boy, who sought the well being of his people, but due manipulation from his hideous father, was forced into see the world in a wronged shade. Gratefully he was able to recognize where the truth was in the very last.
Although I would love to see him alive and well (because I’m a complete sucker for happy endings), I completely understand his death. Not only his, but Nui and Jukai as well. They, specially the last two, were the reason Hyakki was alive: his mother Nui, who gave birth to him; Jukai, his other mother, who gave him the tools to seek his destiny. I read Tahomaru a little differently: he, the one that in his last moments saw Hyakki as a brother, not a enemy, and willingly gave Hyakki’s eyes to complete his journey. Their deaths acted as a closure to this path.
Speaking of death and not mentioning Daigo on the team is weirdly satisfying. I think I would never set up in seeing him living, but man… Hyakki being the better man and letting him live was just what I needed. And it speaks a lot, for Hyakki refused to kill his brother, after all the risks and everything, would he down himself to the same level of his father? A man who sold his own child to demons for power and made this very child a target of hatred when his plans turned to dust? No, Hyakki knows best.
A moment to praise about Dororo. Such a powerful character, the only one who stood by Hyakki’s side from beginning to end, while everyone doubted his humanity. When she (I’ll use the pronoun she as the show depicted Dororo growing as a woman) ran to the burning castle shouting that she would be Hyakki’s eyes if needed I was so emotional, so deep! Her last scene was purely amazing. Her growth, the golden rice fields, their meeting. Just perfect.
It’s funny to see how Dororo and Hyakkimaru grew to look exactly like their mothers!
The show had it ups and downs (more ups than downs, in my opinion) and it ended a journey beautifully. It decayed a little in the second season, especially if we compare to the first season, but it resumed it’s pace and we received an amazing closure. It delivered everything I wanted and what I happiest with is Tahomaru’s development. It made my day and he became a deep, meaningful character. Amazingly done, thanks Mappa! The animation quality dropped a bit, but nothing harmful.
My favourite anime is definitely Dororo.
Well, if you read this whole thing, thanks a lot and I hope you liked the show as well.
