Bantwal
Bantwal is a Taluk of Mangalore in Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka, India, and the headquarters of Bantwal taluk. It is located 25 km (16 mi) East of Mangalore city center. BC Road-Kaikamba of Bantwal is one of the fastest developing areas in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
Along with BC Road-Kaikamba, Panemangalore & Melkar regions are also urbanized. They are also developing as the eastern suburbs of Mangalore. Towards east of Mangalore, the stretch to BC Road-Kaikamba region forms a continuous Mangalore Urban Agglomeration area which is currently the second biggest in Karnataka after Bangalore. Bantwal is the fourth largest urban area in Dakshina Kannada district after Mangalore, Ullal (both comes under Mangalore Urban Agglomeration area) & Puttur in terms of population.
It is situated on the banks of River Nethravati on the National Highway 73 (India). The adjacent town of B.C. Road (Bantwal Cross Road) serves as the commercial center.
Previously, the town of Bantwal was known for trade with the Persian Gulf states, being so close to Mangalore. However, flooding caused by the river Netravathi during the monsoons compelled traders and newer settlements to move to the adjacent city of B.C. Road due to its higher altitude. Gradually, most Government offices shifted to B.C. Road.

In 1852, a portion of it was formed into the Taluk of Puttur.[2] Bantwal was an entrepot for the produce of the province on its way to the Mysore Country and had derived a great benefit of late years from the extension of the coffee trade. It contained about thousand scattered houses inhabited by Billava, Bunts, Bhandary, Ganigas, Kulals, Goud Saraswat Brahmins, Konkani Catholics and a few Jains.[2]
Bantwal is located along the coast of river Netravathi. Every year due to heavy rains the river floods. National Highway 73 cuts through B. C. Road. The highway serves as the conduit for several arterial routes leading to neighbouring towns with Mangalore. Mangalore is connected with other cities in Karnataka such as Mysore and Bangalore by National Highway 275 (India) and National Highway 75 (India) respectively. It is well connected to Uppala through Uppala-Mudipu-Bantwal Highway.

A short thing inspired by @warmblanketwhump‘s post about fever chills that's been in my drafts for way too long 😅
The conversation had become a distant blur of sounds A no longer had the energy to follow; they ceased the polite nods and “mhm”s miles ago, opting instead to sit quietly, gazing out the window at passing scenery with half-lidded eyes while the others chatted around them.
"...'bout you A?" Who? "Think they fell asleep" C gently nudged A's arm and repeated B's question "We're stopping soon, do you want anything?" "No..." They shivered. "...could you turn down the AC?" B's brow furrowed in concern from behind the wheel. "A, the AC is off. You ok?" Now that they though about it, A had been unusually quiet. "Mhm" A mumbled. They were still half-asleep, still exhausted and aching and freezing... but they didn't to ruin the trip. A straightened up in the seat and did their best to keep the next shiver at bay. "Yeah, I'm fine."

WHATS WITH RIN AND LEN BEING INVOLVED WITH STEAMROLLERS
IS THIS AN INSIDE JOKE IN THE COMMUNITY THAT I DONT KNOW ABOUT
ITS A REALLY OLD THING THAT GOES W/ THEM, FROM YEARS BACK LMAO. dont quote me on all of this cause i dont remember exactly its been a while but iirc:
so early vocaloid fandom internet memes led to most of the popular character + item associations that we see today (miku and spring onions/leeks, kaito and ice cream, etc), basically trying to assign some sort of 'signature item' to every new vocaloid release (this was like 2007-2011 for timeframe reference). these sorta became 'item wars' b/c there was the push to get some of these fandom-assigned to be officially recognized (and some of them were, as you can see merch now for example featuring kaito & his ice cream item)
i don't remember why a road roller was specifically tied to rin & len? i think it had to do w/ videos featuring them and. road rollers (possibly on niconicodouga) that went viral around their original release. this was before the orange & banana association both of them have more commonly now i think (that which i do know the reason for: rin's is orange b/c her bow looks like orange leaves and len's banana b/c his hair kinda[?] looks like a bunch of bananas), and there were these lil figures released for them:
however though i'm p sure the road roller as their item became replaced w/ the orange & banana that were more favored (easier to draw lmao?? and fit more w/ the food theme that a lot of the other items had).
anyways the item war trend/meme kinda died out around 2018 and nowadays you don't really see people talking abt it. but yeah tldr; roadrollers & these two used to be a big meme thing but not anymore

Watching Don and Betty parent (together or separately) on Mad Men is so so sad (because I don’t think either of them ever wants to be mean to their kids! I think they both genuinely want to be better than their horrifying parents! The bar is just very very low!) but also kind of funny. It’s like if somebody gave some kids to the most neurotic of the popular junior girls at a private high school and a confident teenage drifter. How do they have a house??? They should be in a road movie about two college freshmen who couldn’t be more different but their boyfriend and girlfriend go to the same college so they carpool and hijinks ensue.

I have an announcement
Boyfriend is no longer my boyfriend
He’s been prompted to fiancé
He proposed in the middle of a road trip overlooking the beach and it was hilarious. He’s got Zero skills at being sneaky about things so I knew to get my nails done ahead of time. Also he was nervous AF.
So we walk along the beach bridge, I’m taking photos of the sunset, and from behind me he goes “Carter, stop walking now!”, and there he was with the ring.
He did manage to hide that it was my great-great Aunt Gusty’s engagement ring, which he got stones for and had all fancied up and resized.
Anyway. We can’t stop giggling like idiots.

Didn't have to leave the house for work or school today, which was nice because it's pouring rain...but I did need to prevent going stir-crazy, which I did by putting on an extra layer, making tea, and sitting on my roofed porch to start a new Victorian-set mystery series.

I've been listening to Al Stewart's "Roads to Moscow," the soundtrack to the fuckery in uniform that Stede orchestrates near the end of s2e8.
I wasn't at all familiar with Stewart's work before watching this episode, but I am chuckling that Stewart read approximately 40 books of history while writing this single song, which is now lovingly showcased in the season finale of a series that uses historical moments as jumping off points for fiction.
I spent enough time attempting to be an academic to love the impulse to read All The Books About The Event before trying to write about the event. But damn if I don't also appreciate DJenks' irreverence toward the historical record, given the massive numbers of important stories that have fallen through its crevices.
