Personality: Ambivert with extroverted tendencies, benevolent, patient, persistent, strong-willed, compassionate and curious.

Most of the people would describe Athenaia as a "kind soul". She wants to give everyone a chance, and tries to understand others before judging them. As a druid she respects nature, and does her own part trying to uphold its balance. Athenaia thinks all life is sacred, and therefor all living things should be treated with respect.

Athenaia loves reading, drawing and music. She isn't afraid of singing in front of others, and dances without a shame, even though she's only decent in that. She is ebullient person, and appreciates even small joys of life, but is rather tentative when it comes to seizing a moment, especially if there is a risk involved. Athenaia is devoted to her family, friends and work.

History:

Athenaia is the firstborn of Dante and Horus Winterbreaker. Dante is an ex-con artist turned fine- and locksmith, and Horus is a Manip (equivalent for sergeant) in Flaming Fist. Both of her fathers had difficult childhoods, but their children grew up in safe and loving environment. Athenaia also has close relations to her extended family, and considers Saga's family as part of it.

Athenaia has had druidic powers since birth, and once they manifested (when she was 5 years old), she has trained among a druidic circle operating in Baldur's Gate's nearby forests. Due to her education Athenaia is used to camping and spending lots of time outdoors. She also knows how to fish and hunt. Tending for flora and fauna, as well as healing, became Athenaia's passion, which in time leads to her founding the Green Haven in Lower City.

Witnessing the unfair healthcare system (aka you get treatment if you have money) of Baldur's Gate for all of her life, Athenaia decided to act when she had just become of age. In time, she managed to first rent, then buy a business space and a small apartment above it. With her fellow druid friend, Nahla, Athenaia opened Green Haven, where she and Nahla would treat people in need, using "pay what you can" principle. They also let people hang out in the space, including urchins and beggars. Healing business expanded to selling self-made healing potions and remedies, selling books related to health, and the duo also added coffee shop into the mix. Green Haven is nowadays a public living room and a healing centre, that is well known especially in Lower City (tho sometimes they also get wealthier folk as their customers).

Athenaia hasn't travelled outside of the Sword Coast, but every now and then she has travelled around with her friend Saga, in order to learn new things, especially for their respective jobs and abilities (Saga is a sorcerer). Other than that, Athenaia has lead a rather peaceful life, the biggest action being dire situtations at work. She has faced hardships (both in hometown and elsewhere) because of her race, but Athenaia has refused to give in to bitterness. She chooses kindness every day, and has noticed it has taken her rather far in life.

Athenaia is very happy with her life and doesn't look for any changes to it. Fate has other ideas, when during a night-out with her brother and friends, a mindflayer nautiloid attacks the city, abducting Athenaia and Saga. Getting mindflayer tadpoles into their brains and surviving the crash-landing of the nautiloid, the duo tries to find a way to cure themselves and get back home to their loved ones. They find fellow survivors, and end up becoming appointed leaders of their motley crew. The biggest adventure of Athenaia's life begins...

10. What would your Tav consider to be their greatest skill? Is this accurate?

Athenaia would name either healing or her druidic magic as her greatest skill. Healing is the biggest part of her job back at home and she's become very good at it during her career. She also likes this skill very much, because with that she can help others, people and animals alike.

Athenaia is very in tune with nature, partially thanks to her druidic magic. She was born with that skill, and has been trained and studied it further since she was 5 years old. Her magic is partially the reason she's so good at healing, but with her magic in general she can also tend to plants, utilise nature's gifts in respectful manner, and also defend herself and her loved ones if need arises.

I'd say she can't pick from the two, especially since they are intertwined in a way.

11. What would your Tav consider to be their greatest flaw? Is this accurate?

Athenaia thinks her greatest flaw is being too tentative. The world has taught her the hard way that there are always people who will judge her by her race, and that prejudice affects many aspects of her life. Mostly due to that, once so ebullient girl became afraid. So afraid she tries to avoid taking any risks to avoid getting hurt.

Of course being tentative isn't always a bad thing. It has saved Athenaia many times. The problem is that she avoids risks so much she sometimes lets her life just go by, without actually fully living it.

Even though this is also a rather accurate as a flaw, I'd say even greater flaw of Athenaia's is being self-sacrificing. She usually pushes her own needs aside if she thinks that it helps someone she cares about, feels responsible about, or if she thinks it will benefit a bigger picture. This causes Athenaia sometimes to forget to take care of herself or listen to her own feelings.

RANDOM FACT: Athenaia was born with her druidic magic. Her parents noticed, that their family might have a druid in their midst, when Athenaia was 5 years old. The family was at a park, when Horus and Dante (Athenaia's fathers) saw her talking with some wild animals.

The fact, that those animals had gathered around Athenaia, listened to her with intent, and seemed to communicate back to her, convinced Athenaia's parents, that the girl wasn't just chatting mindlessly with the animals (as kids often do). Later they contacted a nearby druid circle, and asked them to train their daughter.

Like many of you might have guessed, I've become obsessed by Baldur's Gate 3. I've wanted to introduce my Tav for a while now, but I feel too burnt out to draw myself, and it took me time to figure out answers for some of the questions on this template.

May I present: Athenaia Winterbreaker

She is the firstborn of Dante and Horus Winterbreaker, and the big sister of Kairon Winterbreaker. Athenaia lives in Lower City of Baldur's Gate, upstairs of her work place, Green Haven. It's her own "enterprise", where she mostly offers healing services ("everyone gets treated, quality is the same for everyone" policy). She also sells healing potions and remedies, books about medicine and nature, plus the place acts as a café and a safe space where everyone, including urchins, beggars and homeless, are welcome.

Athenaia has lived very mundane (some might say "boring") life, trying to make the world even a little less shitty place to others, until she got abducted by a mind flayers, and was infected with their tadpole. Driven into this dire situation, she tries her best to use her skills to guide a party of fellow infected, find a cure, and get back to her family and friends.

This "bloody do-gooder", who also gets elected as the leader of the pack, alongside with her friend, Saga, leads with kindness, determination & democracy. She also may or may not end up in a "Pride and Prejudice" kind of situation with a certain Pale Elf she absolutely despises ("that arrogant snob", like Athenaia would call him at the beginning of the story). 😅

Note: Saga is the Tav of my irl friend, who also gets abducted by mindflayers, and a friend of Athenaia's since childhood

16. What is something about your OC can make you cry?

Mostly imagining Athenaia's reunion with her family and friends after the party arrives to Baldur's Gate has had that effect.

Her family thinks she's dead, because they know she got abducted by mindflayers. One of her fathers will spot her during his work shift just after the party has first stepped into the Lower City. Shock and crying, hugs and kisses, and of course the news need to be told to other family members and friends, too.

Athenaia has missed her family all the time during the adventure, and they are also one of her driving forces, the thing that prevents her giving up even when she's just full of it all. Seeing her loved ones again after months gives her hope and strengthens her will to keep on fighting.

I think mostly this scenario makes me cry, because that all reminds to Athenaia, how loved she is, and how after a tremendous tragedy of losing your family member/friend, her loved ones get to experience one heck of a miracle, getting Athenaia back.

I'm a sucker for happy reunions with loved ones, it seems. 😁

17. Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?

I don't think so. Do I feel bad about adding some things? Yes. But I still don't regret adding them there. Only time will tell if this changes in the future. xD

Thank you! 😊 3. How did you choose their name?

When I knew Athenaia was going to be a tiefling, I googled if there are any "traditions" in tiefling names in DnD universe.

I noticed names from ancient Greece were used with some twist. Athena has always been my favourite goddess from Greek mythology, so I used her name, and added -ia in the end, because rule book examples for female tiefling names had that kind of logic.

Hence my OC became Athenaia during the character creation.

10. If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?

Not at all. xD I didn't know who Athenaia was going to romance in advance, and I started to think of more lore for her before knowing who her LI was going to be.

Athenaia despises Astarion at first (like I did, too xD), but starts to like him after he begins to drop his arrogant, snarky mask every now and then. They become friends, and eventually love comes to picture.

Athenaia and Astarion are very different from each other, especially their backgrounds. Unlike Astarion, Athenaia is from loving family, spent relatively safe childhood, and has always had people in her corner - family and friends alike. That alone causes clashes when it comes to communicating things.

It has been fascinating to think of, how all of that affects their relationship. How, despite of their differences and how messy the beginning of their relationship is, they still want to try and make it work.
