I also feel u about Tyler Bertuzzi 🙈😔 the not vaxxed status turned me off but he has a nice face & the missing tooth does things for me
brief vaccine mention so putting it below a cut
we don't talk about how he made us the laughing stock of the entire nhl being the literal only person to not get vaccinated... and before anyone comes for me this is not me supporting not getting vaccinated thanks
on the real he has gorgeous bone structure and when I saw him at brunch one time I swear to god his jawline could have slit my throat with ease. plus he's covered in tattoos and I honestly think he's sexier when he's greasy and not showered I’m sorry

There is no vaccine for a fungus infection
You telling me three medic dropouts that haven’t done any proper medicine in 20 years can figure out a cure better than a scientist on the top of her field who suggested to bomb the cities w her in it because there is no cure for a fungus infección
A 14y/o traumatised can’t consent to give up their life for a chance to get a slight inside of how are inmune to the infection
A doc and two nurses w crappy medical equipment aren’t suitable to find any kind of cure, even if that cure were possible
How were supposed to develop, storage, distribute the vaccine. Which infrastructure were going to use???
I imagine that Fedra, raiders, rapists and other ppl in power w the current status quo wouldn’t be happy to find out their position of power was about to weaken
In the 0.000000000000001% chance they could get the cure I bet they’d use it as a political tool not in order to save humanity
Joel is acting as in loco parentis, so, he did the correct choice of saving Ellie
The fireflies took the choice from Ellie in the first place.
She knew was she was signing for is such a bullshit argument bc Ellie doesn’t have the capacity of truly understand what is going to happen (tiny chance to get the cure, they aren’t prepared to find it anyways so they would be just killing her for nothing, she’s traumatices, etc).
SHE NEVER ASKED TO BE IN THAT POSITION
THE FUCKING OPERATION ROOM WASNT EVEN PROPERLY SANITISED
Ellie is Joel babygirl and Joel is my baby girl. So if he wants to commit crimes to protect her, let him be

Daily update post:
Today is the 80th day of the war. It's been 80 days since Israelis all learned that we're not safe from Palestinian terrorists even in our own homes. It's been 80 days since most Jews worldwide have come under attack, of one type or another, following the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. It's been 80 days since over 100 Israeli hostages have slept in their own beds. It's been 80 days of having to explain that we didn't start or want this war. It's been 80 days of looking at our loved ones, and knowing that on Oct 7, it could have been them. It's been 80 days of knowing that we'll have to keep losing Israelis, and mourning our people, if we want to rid the world (Israelis and Palestinians alike) of the threat of Hamas.
And indeed, two more Israeli soldiers were killed yesterday, while no less than 14 fuenrals for young soldiers, most of them around 19 or 20 years old, were held all across the country. One of the funerals had to be held low key, with almost no attendance, because the kibbutz this young soldier, Gal Hershko, belongs to is in the north, and the community members are evacuated, due to Hezbollah rockets being fired at the area. It would be too risky for them to be at that cemetery. The eulogies for Gal were held at a gym, close to where the evacuated members of the community are staying.
Israel is letting into Gaza 80,000 vaccines for children, to help with the health situation there.
Tumblr media
The Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya has experienced a serious issue with its computers system since yesterday, it's possibly another cyber attack, like the unsuccessful one on the Ziv Hospital (the one that's now known to have been carried out jointly by Hezbollah and Iran). The GMC has had to shut down its computers, and has initiated a special protocol that exists for such situations, saying no medical service has so far been stopped. Let's hope that this is resolved quickly, and doesn't end up costing any human life.
Ukrainian-born Israeli gymnast, Olympic gold medalist and world champion Artem Dolgopyat has decided to auction the world championship gold medal that he won on Oct 7, and donate the money to the Israelis from the communities which were massacred on that day. Winning this medal was his stated dream after taking gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. But when asked about this, he replied, ""What is the status of a world champion worth if my country hurts? The state of Israel comes first for me."
Tumblr media
This is CCTV footage, showing a fragment of a rocket that hit an Israeli supermarket, after it was successfully intercepted by Iron Dome (for all the people who think Israel should just be okay with rockets being fired at it, because we have this defense system):
What I also find interesting is that this was shared by al-Arabiya, a Saudi news channel. One of the theories about the timing of Hamas' massacre, is that it was meant to provoke an Israeli reaction so fierce, that the Arab world would have to take a stand against Israel, and the possibility of peace talks between the Israelis and Saudis would come to an end. If that was the intention, al-Arabiya posting footage that explains to the Arab world, the Israeli POV, is an indication that maybe those peace talks still have a chance.
This is 30 years old Israel Chana.
Tumblr media
On the morning of Oct 7, he was coming back from celebrating his 30th birthday with his family, friends, ad the girlfriend he told his mom he wanted to propose to. After the rocket attacks started, the terrorists got to his neighborhood. Israel worked as a security guard. He grabbed his pistol, 15 bullets, and went out to fight the terrorists. He saved his neighborhood, but was killed himself.
May his memory be a blessing.

in the wake of all this new information during COVID, do you feel that maybe we should all just be masking all the time, COVID of no COVID? I mean it can't be the only airborne disease out there and immunocompromised ppl have always and will always exist so like. Following that thinking even if we don't have COVID we could still be risking other people's health (and lives) with other diseases we may have right? Idk I'm stressing a lot about this do I just need to wear a mask outside forever cos. Masks mess with my breathing and sensory issues and stuff but. I don't wanna?? Kill people by accident??? Aaaaa
Hello, thanks for reaching out about this.
I saw this ask about a month ago, and I needed time to think about how I'd respond to it (so I want to thank you for the patience!).
I'll try to answer all of this to the best of my ability, and I thought I'd answer this by going backwards (responding to the last things you said and then moving up with responding to the first things you said).
Everything is below the cut because this is very long!
First I'll try to summarize what I think you're asking here:
"Vulnerable people exist in this world all around me, therefore does this mean I'm constantly posing a threat to those vulnerable people's safety when I don't mask? The thought of this brings me feelings of stress, fear, and anxiety."
I find this is hard to answer candidly without risking stressing out you or anyone else who's aware of the consequences of their choice not to mask. Nonetheless, my honest answer is: yes, choosing not to mask means risking the lives and safety of vulnerable people, i.e. the disabled, immunocompromised, elderly, children & babies, and those that intersect those groups. That risk can take place directly (such as interacting with an immunocompromised elder) or indirectly (such as interacting with the parent of a disabled child).
I also want to add that it's not only those groups that need protecting. I firmly believe that regardless of your age and/or whether or not you self-identify as disabled or immunocompromised that everyone is at risk of the long-term consequences of this rapidly mutating, vascular, and immunosuppressive virus. No one is invincible to this, and I'll add: not even if you're vaccinated (still get vaccinated if you can, but know that you can still catch covid & develop long covid regardless of your vaccination status).
1. "Masks mess with my breathing and sensory issues."
I understand how that can be difficult to deal with, trust me. There are specific masks (such as most standard KN95s) that irritate the hell out of my face after a certain point. The way those specific masks brush against the hairs of my cheeks just make me want to rip the mask off my face completely. Finding alternatives has been a lifesaver, and they've allowed me to get through the day without wanting to maul someone lol. I don't know what masks you have tried out already, so I'll just recommend the one's I like as well as the one's I've heard good reviews on from people that also have sensory issues:
NIOSH 3m Aura N95 Respirators
Flo Mask
GATA Mask (Haven't tried this one yet, but I've heard a LOT of people say this has been a game changer for them because of how comfortable it is & how it doesn't trigger much sensory issues at all due to its silicone material. Probably the only con I've heard is the chance of the build up of moisture in the mask after a long period of use & water possibly dripping on your face— this happens to me sometimes with my Flo Mask. Edit on Sept. 26, 2023: I tried GATA Mask, and I personally have a tough time getting a comfortable fit & seal with it, even when getting the small/medium size for adults to see if it'll make a difference, and the nose bridge shape not fitting well for me is a huge con. Customer service is just suggesting I spend more, so I'll just give this one a break, for now at least. A lot of other people seem to like it though.)
Halyard FLUIDSHIELD [ASTM Level 3] Mask (My mom works in a hospital, and these are masks she brings home from work. They're VERY comfortable for me, especially when I'm masking at home. I recommend finding a way to tighten the loops that go around your ears to prevent as much gaps around the mask as possible. If tight loops hurt your ears easily, I recommend a mask brace.)
O2 Nose Filters (I haven't tried these out yet as well, but I've seen videos demonstrating how effective these are at filtering out SOOO many unseen particles. I don't recommend using these alone of course, because there's still a risk of inhaling harmful aerosols through your mouth. I would recommend using this as a reinforcement of the protective measures you take. For example: adding on a comfortable surgical mask— ideally one with a high filtration efficiency like the previous suggestion— with the nose filters. I think these nose filters would be great if you're removing your mask real quick to take a sip of water or if you're outdoors with enough distance from crowded areas & groups.)
In the ideal world, more people would mask during this on-going pandemic so those that deal with sensory issues and/or those that straight-up can't wear a mask due to medical reasons wouldn't have to worry so much about choosing between existing & risking their health. For now, we just have to find alternatives.
2. "Do I need to wear a mask outside forever?"
My answer to this is: yes until further notice. There's no foreseeable end to this pandemic right now, but it would be worth the patience to wait for adequate tech, treatment, and cures for covid-19 to be released before even thinking about getting loose with masking.
Societal mandates have been dropped way too soon, and public health in regards to covid-19 is being forced on us as an individual responsibility. As a consequence, this gives this rapidly mutating virus a lot of wiggle room to spread and do whatever it wants. This means doctors and experts don't have much answers yet for adequate treatment because there's a MAJOR lack of containment (such as masking & quarantining) and documentation (such as testing & reporting). This isn't to say there hasn't been any advancements whatsoever: for example, Washington University just developed a breath test for covid that gives results in just 1 minute! This is great news! And this is just one reason why it's very necessary for those who can mask to mask, so scientists are given more time to roll out helpful solutions & tools sooner.
Another thing I'll add is if you're symptomatic and/or are positive for covid, you should 100% be wearing a mask no matter what, point blank period. I say "and/or" because it is VERY much possible to have covid and not experience any symptoms at all; this is a major reason why it's necessary to mask up in public consistently, because you can't always know who you bump into that may have covid or not.
3. "Even if we don't have covid, we could still be risking other people's health (and lives) with other diseases we may have right?"
Yes, there is a possibility of spreading airborne diseases to vulnerable people unknowingly— without the protective & preventative tools that is.
I can only speak for America because that's the cultural zeitgeist I grew up in, but: I feel like many of us can agree that, unless you worked in a healthcare setting, what was "normal" (in America) before 2020 when it came to airborne illness prevention was definitely not the regular use of a mask. American health education mainly taught us if we're coughing & sneezing to try to do so in a tissue or into your elbow, as well as frequently wash our hands. That doesn't account for the way air actually works though. For instance, if someone with the common cold coughed into the inside of their elbow, the particles they coughed out are still able to linger in the air because their elbow isn't creating a tight seal around their mouth (their elbow may have caught the droplets from their cough— which are bigger & heavier— but the smaller, lighter aerosols would just spread around similar to how smoke does); it's the difference between 😪 vs 😶‍🌫️. The only sure way for the germs they've coughed out to be blocked from spreading to other people is if they wear a well-fitted, quality mask/respirator.
I feel like health education from a young age should include the benefits of masking; that way it would be easier to adapt to the need to put on a mask to protect ourselves & others as a collective. It would be phenomenal & wonderful if we as a collective were used to masking the same way we're used to putting on socks before putting on our shoes.
4. "Immunocompromised people have always and will always exist"
Yes, that is true. And that means necessary measures taken to protect them, as well as other vulnerable people, should be the standard.
5. "[Covid] can't be the only airborne disease out there"
Of course not. There's plenty of them. However, not all airborne diseases are the same, nor should they be treated as such. What's been observed in regards to the long-term effects of covid is not at all the same with other airborne diseases. Covid is a highly contagious virus that is more than just a respiratory disease. Its goal is to attack your immune system, nervous system, heart, brain, and/or other vital organs. That's what viruses do. They act smart and sneaky, and they have the capability to trigger illnesses in your body that you may not have had pre-infection:
Chickenpox is known to lead to shingles
Epstein-Barr is known to lead to mono
HPV is known to lead to cancer
Covid-19 has been found to lead to:
POTS
ME/CFS
Stroke & Heart attack
Alzheimer's
Dementia
"Brain Fog"; Memory & Concentration Problems
The list goes on, and these are only what we know of. Covid may not be the only airborne disease, but it definitely is a dangerous one with serious, long-term negative effects.
6. "Do you feel that we should all be masking all the time, whether or not covid-19 exists?"
In regards to masking with the existence of covid:
Yes. Masking is a vital method in the prevention of catching & spreading covid-19, because it is primarily spread through the air.
In regards to masking without the existence of covid:
See my answer for number 3, and also: given the fact wearing a mask can only do more good than harm for most folks, I don't see why not. Imagine a world where we don't have to worry about flu season or allergy season anymore because those aerosols are filtered out from consistent mask wearing. Sounds like the dream to me lol.

I hope this made sense! If anyone has anything they'd like to add to answer anon's questions, please feel free to share!

WIBTA if I ask my house/roommate to have their guests to wear a mask when they visit
😷😷
hi there, I assume im not the asshole in this situation but its more I am unsure how to go about it. I (26nb) live with my aunt (55+f). I do not pay for my room, but I do do the majority of the housework and help out as much as I can, as well as paying for everything I use myself.
The main thing is that the house we're living in needs a bunch of renovations: a new roof, floors, etc. The house is just getting old, and it's natural.
Due to some autoimmune issues, I am on some immune suppressants; I make sure to wear an m95 mask whenever I go out and am fully vaccinated. I take every precaution I can because I'm relatively high risk for someone in my age/health category.
Now, with these two facts in place, it makes me nervous when we have workers over our house, workers who do not wear masks, and I don't know their vaccination status. I would like to ask my aunt to have them wear masks, but I don't know if it's my place. I'd be more than willing to supply/buy masks for anyone who enters the house, I just don't want to cause any possible issues between any workers and my aunt esp since it's her house. She also has friends visit sometimes, and I would like for them to wear masks too, but again, I'm just nervous about setting that boundary, esp since her friends are the "we're through the pandemic now, why should I have to" -type, even if my aunt is not.
I don't want to cause strife, but I also REALLY don't want to catch covid. And its not fun feeling unsafe in my own house, idk I assume I'm not the asshole but I've been wrong before.
What are these acronyms?

(vaccine anon) yeah, now that I think about that one part, “rude” is not the best way to put it. I’d probably say “hard to control” instead. Like most dark types just being that way naturally (not including the same pyroar, even though her terra type is dark.)
And again, I’m still quite young, so most of this is just innocent care by a child/teen. And believe me, it definitely goes wrong sometimes. Just ask my lycanroc, who due to her non-battling status, has probably seen all of this happen. She quickly bolted out of there when I came home with a shiny foretress one time. Honestly, who can blame her there? I had to keep the guy in his ball to make sure he wouldn’t explode on us.
i'm sorry, but i can't condone this. "innocent care" is not a thing when it comes to rehabilitating what seem like incredibly dangerous pokemon. you either properly care for the pokemon, or you do not. what you're describing from your lycanroc sounds like stress behavior, and given that you are bringing home pokemon that are beyond your skill level, i can't blame her.
please don't take in any more pokemon. between allowing an aggressive pyroar to burn its veterinarian and things like your generalization of dark type pokemon behavior, you are not in a place to do this sort of work right now. i will not continue to argue the point, so i will not be answering any more messages you send on the topic.

oftentimes when I go to fill out a certain type of document-- file taxes, or go to the doctor, or get a COVID vaccine, or apply for a mortgage, or most recently, setup online payments for city water services-- there's a bit where they ask about "marital status." married, single, "domestic partner" etc. and one of the options is almost always "widowed"
which like... I am? I was married and then my husband died. so I always check that box because I'm like yes hello it me
but... why is that even a category? is it just to not hurt the feelings of people who were really stoked to not have to check single anymore when they got married and don't want to feel thrown back into the same sea through no fault of their own?
or is it because widows used to occupy a really different social and economic niche than virgins spinsters unmarried women, and the documents just haven't been updated?
nothing ever comes of checking widowed except that sometimes people reading the forms in front of me look up and awkwardly go "oh... sorry for your loss." like thanks? but do I get a pity reduction on my interest rates or what
also like... if I get married again I will be married, but also I will still be widowed? my late husband won't not have died just because I get a new one. I'm just going to start checking both on the forms
(I think my facebook page might still say I'm married to [my late husband's facebook profile] because I went in after he died to check if there was an option to say "widowed" and there was but when I went to check it it said something like "this will sever your relationship with [my husband]. this action cannot be changed. proceed?" and I started crying and closed the window)

Sorry you've apparently become The Rabies Guy overnight lol. But since you have, and it was absolutely a childhood special interest/fear of mine that's 👉👉 laid dormant 👉👉 for quite some time, would you happen to know (if you're not sick of rabies asks by now)-
1) why is the rabies vaccine itself so much cheaper and easier to make and administer in dogs and cats than for humans? Obviously part of the cost equation is just that demand dictates production scale and its easier to educate and avoid in the human relationship to rabies, but it's interesting to me that we don't treat it like tetanus or other relatively-rarer and somewhat avoidable/environmental risks we do still vax for, and that are produced at scale accordingly and so are cheaper. I've heard the other factor of low demand is that it's also a pretty rough vaccine for people that work in relevant professions that *do* have to get it to receive (and is even worse if you have to get it after being potentially exposed). It doesn't seem that way for pets though? I'd be interested to hear if you have any insights into all that from the vetmed side.
2) are you aware of any changes that the recent mRNA vax advancements of recent years may be bringing to the way we approach the rabies vaccine in pets or people? That'd be cool and interesting!
Thanks! Hope people aren't being too rabidly annoying in your notifs lol
1: There's a couple different factors here:
To my knowledge the human rabies vaccination and the dog rabies vaccination and the cat rabies vaccination and the hoofstock rabies vaccination are all slightly different from each other with different methods of creation and ingredients and dosing. This will contribute to the difference in cost.
Simply put, animal medicine is often cheaper than human medicine because human medicine has inflated prices due to hospital and insurance markups. In other words, if your human hospital scaled the cost of services the way your dog's hospital does, and health insurance wasn't a thing that exists, the price would be astronomical. If you ever go to an ER and get fluids, compare the "before insurance" price of just your room and bag of saline and catheter to what your vet charges for the same thing.
The animals we vaccinate for rabies do experience a lot of the same side effects, but animals are stoic and do not often complain about the side effects. Lethargy, muscle aches, low grade fever, vaccine-site soreness and localized reaction (swelling, redness), depression, and irritability are all common side effects of the rabies vaccination in our domesticated animals. Usually these side effects resolve within 24 hours but can last in rare cases up to a week. Less commonly, vomiting, diarrhea, facial swelling, and trouble breathing, but those are more allergic reactions than side effects. This is why a lot of anti-vaxxers don't want to vaccinate their pets for rabies, it does put a lot of stress on the immune system and thus can result in some pretty dramatic symptoms. It's just that "1 to 7 days of feeling shitty every couple years" is a significantly preferable outcome to "rabies outbreak".
Post-exposure prophylaxes is something else entirely- immunoglobulin is administered in addition to the vaccination to give your body a running start on the whole "don't let rabies get to my brain" thing. This is not an option for exposed domesticated animals, so not only is this very expensive but it is also human-exclusive because immunoglobulin is not cheap or easy to get ahold of and thus all of it that we have is dedicated to human cases.
Remember, in countries with robust vaccination protocols for domesticated pets and a culture of keeping their domesticated animals contained and away from wildlife, human deaths are fairly rare and are caused by rabies virus are almost exclusively caused by encounters with wildlife, which is why in those countries the chosen path is "tell people to stop touching animals they can't verify vaccine status of" and not "vaccinate everyone". The US has maximum like 5 human deaths due to rabies per year. Compare that to India, where vaccine availability is not as good and there is a very serious loose, wandering dog problem, and that number soars to 21,000 human deaths due to rabies per year. If 21,000 humans in India are dying from rabies, what percentage of them are receiving an incomplete post-exposure prophylaxes (usually incomplete due to expense) and what are the numbers for people who were able to complete the series (largely those who either can afford it or who chose serious debt over a grisly death)? We need that immunoglobulin to help the people we can still save from rabies exposure, so it's not really available in large amounts to be experimenting with pets every time a dog picks a fight with a fox or raccoon.
(Also the problem is that rabies bites tend to cause severe trauma, which you can't really deliberately cause severe trauma to an animal in a laboratory ethically, and even if you could you can't do it to easily handled animals like mice because as said before most rodents can't survive that level of trauma for very long before they just die, and researchers very do not want to deal with the potential of handling known rabid dogs, so that's sort of at a standstill as far as studies go)
(Also also, the Milwaukee Protocol costs $800,000 to attempt to save a single person and as discussed has a significant failure rate, so if people aren't getting PEP due to expense, they very can't afford the incredibly expensive experimental treatment that's more likely to kill them than save them either, so it's not like with that amount of deaths we've gotten a lot of people trying anything more than strapping that person down and waiting for them to die)
In addition, of those 21,000 deaths, over 96% of them are caused by bites from dogs. This means that if we fix the loose, wandering dog problem, rabies cases should plummet very similarly to the way they did in the US when we started enforcing our own rabies protocols. There are programs in place to fix this problem but it is multifaceted in origin and not as simple as one might think. As said before, dogs are the #1 rabies vector in the world, even if rabies is technically a "bat virus". The only reason we blame bats here in the US is because we fixed the dog problem. Not every country has been able to do that.
So... very much a complex problem with not a very easy solution. This costs a lot of money and countries just do not have the funds to pour into experiments solving a disease that's more or less 100% fatal when they could just as easily tell people to stop touching animals that aren't vaccinated.
2: The only change I'm aware of is that there's an ongoing attempt to create a single-dose rabies and chemical castration vaccine as a one-and-done to help countries like India and others with loose wandering dogs, which will both cut down on the dog population because they won't be able to breed, and also will cut down on rabies infections within the dog population that currently exists. They have not yet been successful. Again, resolving the problem of the packs of unvaccinated dogs living in close proximity to humans will significantly reduce the instance of rabies deaths in humans as well, since that is the leading cause of rabies spread to humans at time of writing worldwide.

I have a question about werewolves/lycanthropy that started before I read the story (just based on the poster.) The story kind of touches on my question, but I'll ask it anyway for clarity.
So, the poster frames lycanthropy as a thing you Do Not Want to have. Is there some resentment toward this attitude by werewolves (or however you would call those people in-story)? Or do they agree/not mind?
Essentially, do werewolves in general think of lycanthropy as something they live with but would not want others to experience, or as a part of their personhood that shouldn't be shamed/dreaded etc.?
Sorry if I'm reading too much into this. I know these are fictional people. I also know that the answer, if there is one, is probably "It's complicated." Groups of people think differently about their own status. I myself am autistic and projecting a bit haha. (Autistic person vs. person with autism, werewolf vs. person with lycanthropy.)
I'm just curious about the intent of the author and what (if any) real world subjects your interpretation of lycanthropy is based on (eg. Herpes, as mentioned in the story.)
Thanks for tolerating my overthinking!
-Nick
I adore that someone thought about my writing for more than a moment, so I am happy to get any ask about it.
In-universe, it is the Office’s official position that abnormality of any kind is to be controlled and moderated, if not eliminated. As we saw in the Psychotronics program, that had exceptions based on imperial needs and wants. Over the near-century of its existence, it’s softened its position on already-existing abnormality among non-staff, as Jethro alluded to. Among staff, avoiding things like lycanthropy if you don’t already have it is standard, and so vaccinations and boosters are required. The posters say that because it’s the Office policy.
Among the abnormal population, it’s probably true that while people with lycanthropy do consider it part of their personhood, many of them understand the downsides enough to accept medical assistance in controlling the condition and spread. There are as you mentioned different opinions on it, but many afflicted people are warmed up to people like Jethro even if they aren’t too hot on the Office itself. It helps that Jethro is himself a man with lycanthropy.
However, both the average lycan and Office personnel understand that there’s a difference between assisting with the negative aspects of a specific condition and attempting to eradicate it, which was Office policy in the past. Eradicating a condition can be only a small step from eradicating a people.
On a level of authorial intent, I am careful not to draw a direct comparison between specific real life people groups and werewolves/lycanthropes. That’s been done in recent memory and I don’t think it turned out well for anyone. But I think I do draw some allusions to crimes and oppression the United States has perpetrated against different groups of people - not to make a statement about the people, but about the historic sins of America.

In my senior year, I read a book about a Khmer Rouge child soldier and survivor
He said heard his little brother died from starvation while asking where he was
Evil my friend pure evil
Psst, Jewish people, the left defense of the Khmer Rouge is what would happen if the Nazis didn’t attack England and France. Sorry I think people don’t understand that Nazis had a eat the rich mentality
Also people said the cia funded the Cambodian genocide
Oh leftists
The American agencies are INCOMPETENT AS FUCK
If we know about the cia connections to bin Laden, then anti commies cia hating people would put that shit down hard.
Seriously…do they talk to any working class American? I mean ever heard that in cops shows. The cops are weary when they learn the cia is involved?
Almost like the cia makes everything a living hell for the average American….hmm why did we go to Vietnam again? Why did so many Americans have to be at the mercy of Vietnam’s vets with ptsd with little to no mental resources again?
Why does the cartels have military grade weapons that no American civilians can buy?
Why didn’t the sniper try to kill lbj as well?
Why did the crack epidemic hit my community the worst? How the fuck inner cities thugs got military grade weapons too?
There a reason why American sci-fi since 70’s have an agency that based off the cia to pull middle fingers to. Not a Trekkie, but didn’t the next generation crate a federation cia call sector 9 or something?
Gonna run those tweets on their own, since that will bring discourse™
In my senior year, I read a book about a Khmer Rouge child soldier and survivor He said heard his little brother died from starvation while asking where he was Evil my friend pure evil
Fairly large Cambodian community in my town, I'm sure they'd love a word with the idiots that think the khmer rouge was anything but evil,
Psst, Jewish people, the left defense of the Khmer Rouge is what would happen if the Nazis didn’t attack England and France. Sorry I think people don’t understand that Nazis had a eat the rich mentality
They were a form of socialists so ya, not sure how many of them realized they were, but ya.
Also people said the cia funded the Cambodian genocide Oh leftists The American agencies are INCOMPETENT AS FUCK
They managed to pull off a few things in South America, they wouldn't have funded a communist state though, not one that small at least, need something that would be more than a minor annoyance for china or the soviets.
If we know about the cia connections to bin Laden, then anti commies cia hating people would put that shit down hard.
ya he was fighting commies, Afghanistan the graveyard of empires
Why does the cartels have military grade weapons that no American civilians can buy?
ATF gunwalking scandal Thanks Obama.
Why didn’t the sniper try to kill lbj as well?
Who would have gotten us stuck in Nam for years and years if not for lbj though?
Why did the crack epidemic hit my community the worst? How the fuck inner cities thugs got military grade weapons too?
That was the FBI, CIA operates outside of our border, allegedly. It's also a contributing factor to the black community having such a low vaccination rate during covid, alphabet soup news outlets never really brought it up because that's not a way to demonize white people so they don't care.
There a reason why American sci-fi since 70’s have an agency that based off the cia to pull middle fingers to. Not a Trekkie, but didn’t the next generation crate a federation cia call sector 9 or something?
I think there was a episode of DS9 that went into that when Sisko went back in time on earth, but don't quote me on that. _________________
Got this one out at least, still waiting to hear if it's pick up day or not.
I'm gonna shitpost for a bit tho I think.

The State of Things Past
this post is mirrored from the Studio Spacefarer Patreon! please consider supporting me, and you’ll get access to devlog posts, gifs, and other info before the public!
Like I mentioned in my previous post, The Waking Cloak has been in development for eight years.
ProtoDungeon: Episode III has itself been in development for a few years, pretty much since 2019 (oooof). I've gotten plenty of questions about how the project is coming, as well as the occasional question of whether The Waking Cloak / ProtoDungeon is even alive at all at this point. Thank you for asking this. It means people are still interested in these games.
Okay, but still, what happened? Why are things taking so long? Well, this post is the first in the Christmas Carol series, in which the ~Ghost of Spacefarer Past~ appears to explain things (wooo spooky explanation sounds).
Progress has been made, very slowly, on ProtoDungeon: Episode III. I'd love to have done more, but, well… in the time since I released Episode II, we continued adjusting to parenthood for our first kid, went through the pandemic, had a second baby (who is now almost 3yo), and survived through a series of really difficult events, which culminated in a move to a new house in a new town and the start of a new chapter (but that last bit we'll save that for the Ghost of Christmas Present so he feels useful).
But yeah, it's been a rough ride. My wife and I are intentionally open about what's been going on. At the same time, the internet is an extremely public place, and I don't want to overshare, or worse, trigger anything for anyone, so I'll try to keep this list brief:
Two miscarriages (the first one was late term, and absolutely, brutally devastating)
The loss of our faith community due to the pandemic
Loss of job for my wife due to the pandemic (the pandemic was unkind to teachers)
Loss of a dream job prospect for my wife (same issue)
The great Texas freeze and power outage (us huddling under blankets in shifts through the night with our newborn infant (he's fine now!))
Severe, life-threatening post-partum and post-natal depression
Family covid and two-week cabin-fever quarantines (twice, despite being vaccinated and careful)
The death of my grandma (we were not able to attend her memorial due to aforementioned covid and living on the other side of the country)
Multiple heart attacks for my father despite his active and healthy lifestyle
Autoimmune disease scare for my wife (may still be a thing, just dormant?)
etc., etc., ad infinitum.
A lot of people have had things significantly worse, so this is definitely not an attempt to "compare griefs" as it were. This is just context for, no matter how much I wanted it to be otherwise, the fact that I didn't have the mental or emotional (or temporal) space for creativity. It was one thing after another, and we were just trying to keep our heads above water.
Even when we'd mostly recovered from the hits that just kept comin', we moved away from what my wife lovingly refers to as the "trauma house", and she started a teaching job at a brand-new school. Both were good things, but they were pretty big transitions, and it takes time for the ol' brains to adjust. We love our new home now and have a bit more breathing room.
Okay but also I HAVE been working on ProtoDungeon. Dev was really sporadic, but it did happen. The next post will have more detail on the status of Episode III, but there were kind of two big things I worked on during the past three years, big shifts in the foundation of ProtoDungeon and The Waking Cloak.
First, I switched game perspective. I made a few posts about this a while back, but PD/TWC interiors were originally like Zelda interiors (where you see the insides of all four walls). There are good reasons to do this, but it was also kinda making me crazy. So I switched to a more natural front-perspective, keeping things consistent with the exteriors. It definitely was the right choice for the game I wanted to build, but it took time.
Second, and building on that, I made the game fully faux-3D. You can walk behind or in front of stuff--not something the old Zelda games did, and still pretty rare for 2D games. I was toying with the idea for a long time, but I played through an old PlayStation title, Alundra, and that convinced me it could be done. It's way harder than you might expect, and it was a massive block for me for literally years. I was able to slowly work my way past it and finally resolved it with a 3D z-tilting method, but dev slowed to a crawl.
And that's it for now! The ghost releases you from your vision of Spacefarer Past….
Thanks for reading :)

I’ve just had a long conversation with my friend about some quality Skulduggery angst and I know how much you like that
It started with thinking about a crossover with The Last Of Us. Valkyrie gets infected, and unluckily enough, getting bitten in the only places she doesn’t have armour means you turn in 5-15 minutes. Skulduggery gets the zombie somewhere no one can find and kill her, and goes on a bloody rampage - threatening anyone who might be able to cure her and killing them when they insist it’s not possible
Of course, this means he’d turn into a sort of dark mirror of what Joel and Ellie could become (I say, with only baseline knowledge of TLOU; my friend is a fan of it). He would find them because they’re the reason there’s no vaccine
The vaccine would have meant Ellie died, and a lot of people were killed to save her. Skulduggery would do the exact same thing for Valkyrie. He would understand that, I think. It would not stop him from trying to figure out how to make the vaccine himself
And then there’s part 2, where it morphed into any kind of zombie apocalypse with the same setup, but as part of a dimension-hopping plotline where the duo we know meet this version of themselves. It could become a rescue mission, where Skulduggery needs to get Valkyrie back from this broken version of himself who desperately wants his friend back
Maybe they talk - the zombie apocalypse Skulduggery and our Valkyrie - about their respective stories. Maybe he just listens about how much better things could have been, in a better world. She sees the zombie, of course. She knows that’s the only thing separating this Skulduggery from the one she knows
And when our Skulduggery arrives, he might find the other standing, as still as a statue, in silence. He goes over, sees a lone zombie shambling around in a container area which they overlook. The other only says “Valkyrie.” and that’s all the explanation required. They stand together a while in silence, watching what’s left of her
There are no hard feelings when our duo leaves. Only a horrible feeling of tragedy and sorrow that lingers around them all
So yeah! Skulduggery angst :)
IM SO SORRY I KEPT NOT GETTING ROUND TO RESPONDING TO THIS
I know fuck all about last of us BUT. my god I love this /gen
Skug would absolutely fall apart in this situation I think. Both skugs. I think it would be a lot of quiet (and not-so-quiet) mourning- I don’t think there’d be much talking between the Skeles as you said. Like, mostly just standing or sitting together in collective, silent, grief
But I also think there would be points were alt skug just- snaps? And the other lets it happen. He knows, he’s been there. He’s not going to interfere- just make sure no-one (especially our Val) is actually hurt. He’s there to offer.. comfort, if you could call it that, when it’s all over.
Valkyrie is… confused, for the most part. She sees this version of herself that is barely her- it’s lost it’s grip on most of its humanity by the time they reach it- but she also sees that this other skug, her skug too, can still see it as Valkyrie. She starts to see it as well, after a little bit. Maybe she thinks about how that could have been her if the events of sow had gone just a bit differently. Maybe she recognises some part of herself in its eyes.
Either way, I think she’d be conflicted as fuck about it. Wouldn’t want to harm it- for both skugs’ sakes- but wouldn’t be entirely comfortable around it, either.
Tl;dr i fucken love this and oh god I’m experiencing feelings /pos /pos /pos
And thank you for the ask!!!!!! And angst!!!! God shit!!! Apologies for the wait chfhducbdhcb

For title meme thing, what do you mean you're not vaccinated?! Funny please :) also absolutely love it when you write these little blurbs they are so great!!
No pairing was mentioned, so I'm just gonna... 👀 OG6. Could be polyvengers. Could be team as family. We just don't know.
What Do you Mean You're Not Vaccinated?!
Bruce and Tony came to realize, to their absolute horror, that they were the only fully vaccinated people on the team.
"FUCKING GET AWAY FROM ME, I'M IMMUNOCOMPROMISED," Tony shouted, having launched himself across the room. His watch was now a gauntlet. He was aiming it at the rest of the team. It was whirring with power.
"Please put the gauntlet down," Steve squeaked, terrified, not moving from his seat on the couch.
"I can understand Thor, and maybe even Steve," Bruce said weakly. "But Clint?"
Clint didn't look up from carefully organizing his five-pound bag of Skittles into piles of specific colors. "I grew up in the circus. They only cared if the animals were vaccinated properly there. I think I got a flu vaccine once."
Bruce turned his eyes on Natasha. "Are you telling me the Russians forced sterilization but not MMR?!"
"We were not exposed to outsiders until most people had already been vaccinated or predisposed themselves," she answered with a shrug. "I've been vaccinated against malaria."
"Were you just vaccinated when you were going to specific places to kill people?" Bruce gasped.
Natasha shrugged again. Bruce squinted at her, mouth dropped open a little. Part of it was outrage. Part of it was doing the math trying to figure out how to get her a full panel.
"Tony what can I do to make you put the gauntlet down," Steve begged, getting up and taking a step toward him in an attempt to comfort him.
The gauntlet whirred louder as a threat. Tony took a step back, pressing up against the wall. "Die."
"Tony," Steve gasped, hurt.
"A bad cold could kill him, Steve," Bruce cut in quickly. "I've seen his chest x-rays. His diminished lung capacity alone is a problem, not to mention his tanked immune system."
"And I could have brought a virus home?" Steve asked, horrified.
"It's a miracle I'm still alive. I'm going down to the lab. Goodbye forever," Tony said, sliding across the wall to get to the elevator. "I didn't live through open-heart surgery in a dirty cave to get killed by a fucking cold. I will be making a bubble suit. I will miss the warmth of hugs but I will be alive."
"Are you telling me that every executive at your meetings is vaccinated?" Clint asked in disbelief.
Tony scowled at him as he waited for the elevator to open. "They're all like eighty, Clint. I'm pretty sure Aldman's son actually died of polio before the vaccine came out. Of course they're all vaccinated. A stiff breeze could kill them." He huffed. "At least if they weren't living out of spite. I'm pretty sure they're all gonna outlive me."
"This could be a great opportunity," Thor said suddenly, leaning forward in his seat. "The public is still pretty upset about our last fight--"
"Because we knocked over a beloved statue trying to keep a school bus from being flattened by a mutant squid," Natasha muttered.
"People love dog statues," Clint added.
"--so what if you all get your vaccinations on TV?" Thor finished, enthused.
Steve swiveled to scowl at him. "What about you?"
"Well, I'm a god, so," Thor began.
Bruce pointed in his face, making Thor's eyes cross to make sure his finger didn't get too close and poke one. "You're a fucking alien. You know how the aliens in War of the Worlds died? Germs. You're fucking next, buddy."
"I wasn't aware that Midgard had participated in an intergalactic fight before the Chitauri," Thor said.
Steve opened his mouth to tell him it was a book. Tony's gauntlet whirred loudly. He closed his mouth.
"That's a good idea, Thor!" Bruce told him. "You can be first."
"I regret my idea," Thor said, which wasn't a no, but was certainly a grumble.
"All four of you can get your full vaccinations," Bruce continued.
"Of course. I'm glad these immunizations exist," Steve answered earnestly.
Natasha and Clint looked a bit perturbed, but then they glanced at Tony, still staring at them suspiciously as he backed into the now-open elevator, and their shoulders fell in defeat.
.-.
"You really did make a bubble suit," Steve breathed in disbelief.
"Of course I did," Tony scoffed.
"I am mostly surprised he didn't sooner, just for the option to safely bodycheck me," Clint said morosely where he was sprawled halfway across the kitchen island, covered in cereal.

still alive
yesterday i was resolved to leave the house for a minute, which i did eventually-- around noon, it got up above 20F for a minute, and it was bright sunshine, so I bundled up and went out.
Dude has been trying to dig us out for two days. There are about two solid inches of ice on the ground, over about half an inch of snow. I shoveled at the driveway for a minute, but then I realized the sunshine was likely to be acting more on my car, and spent a while cracking the ice off my car. So my car is now more or less driveable out of its carapace of ice, even though the driveway isn't yet really passable.
I then walked down to the nearest pokestop, but I couldn't make it there. The sidewalks of the high school across the street were clear, but not the block beyond, and the street is too busy and not quite wide enough for it to be safe to walk in the street. Anywhere the ice crust hasn't been removed from is a sheet of solid ice, frictionless-- I saw an Instagram reel of someone ice skating on their driveway, and I believe it. So I managed to cross the street and stand on a snowbank and spin the disc at a pokegym, and then I beat up everyone in the gym and took it over out of a sheer need to feel alive, and then spun the disc a second time and walked back home. It's just not possible to reach any of the other ones close to my house because the sidewalks are impassible.
So I walked home and went back inside and drank a bunch of water and then for the first time I did feel like maybe I am sick, so I lay down and took a nap and really was useless for the rest of the day.
Still no fever.
Someone replied on a previous post and it was in my notifications but I couldn't ever actually see the reply, and now I've forgotten who it was, but they were asking about my vaccine status I think, and yes-- I've had four or five doses, I lose count, of the Pfizer vaccine, including the most recent one which was the bivalent whatsit, which I had in mmmmmm October or November maybe? I genuinely don't remember, it was late 2022 when they were widely available.
Medical advice is wildly conflicting as well, they told my mother that getting Covid would make her immune, but I read a good paper which of course I can't find now that suggests that for most people Covid destroys immunity like the measles and so if you've had it you should consider your vaccines wiped out. I genuinely don't know what the truth there is.
I'm sure the vaccine is why mine is so mild now though. And it is, I just have been sleeping a lot in the last 36 hours, and I'll just keep that up I think. I wish I were getting more done on my projects but being alive is good too so I'll take it.

Not so much as a fuck anybody in particular, mostly fuck the state and fuck the company that I work for. I work for one of the three big fashion consignment companies (where you make sure a shirt/dress/watch/shoe is real before it gets put on a website), and for as much as I like what I do I don't like the policies. Because my state lifted the mask mandate, people think the pandemic is over and most of the people have since stopped masking. I am one of the few people who still wears a mask to work and to the grocery store. While policy says you cannot unmask unless you are fully vaccinated, there's still a shit load of selfish folk who walk about unmasked whilst unvaccinated. I've never wanted to punch somebody in the face more. The kicker? The "Health And Safety" team doesn't check vaccination status. HR never checks, and they don't ask the Management teams to check vaccination status of the assholes who walk around purposefully breaking this rule. It's one thing to be vaccinated and unmasked- actually, it's all the same to me. And, people are fucking stupid- but it's another to be a potential Typhoid Mary. Fuck this company and fuck the state for not listening to scientific facts. And fuck this whole country for putting themselves over actual human lives.

This is so scary 😨
https://twitter.com/OmarRiverosays/status/1707733416442290661?t=FUVQ4b1qmryFVb2WuCoOsA&s=19
I am neither right-wing nor American, so I cannot speak to this person’s reach. I find this rhetoric abhorrent and am glad both have excellent security. Do not get me started on the BS anti-science and anti-vaccination stuff.
But I think the frenzy around these two — including from many parts of the fandoms — could be dialled down a whole lot. Enormously.
A few weeks ago, anons were asking “why would they have to be private/why would H feel he had to protect her if something happened between them?” and the answer is: frenzy. This is the kind of frenzy that happened in 2012, except many people in his fandom were AWFUL to her. And the GP thought she was a rapacious “man-eater who toyed with her prey to write songs about them” while at the same time was a “sweet young girl who’d be corrupted by the British charmer”.
It sucked looking at it from the outside, and they had much less agency in their lives/careers and less capacity to hide from the paps. I cannot even imagine how difficult it was for them personally.
All that to say - I wish many of the frothiest fans would take a beat. It’s early days. Blondie has always met families very early on, in romantic entanglements both long and very short. Let this play out! It will be what it is. No need to imagine either fiery break-up songs or Super Bowl halftime show proposals.
Tumblr media
When media coverage gets this hot and this ubiquitous, the backlash begins; people start to get gleeful at the prospect of tearing her down. I see the misogynistic comments and the whispers questioning her motives/talent/legacy. It’s making my skin crawl because it was terrible before and while she’s much stronger and she cares far less now, I hate when this shit overshadows what a talented and strategic absolute boss she is, in addition to her incredible talent and nearly unmatched work ethic.
Anyway - that sh*t sucks. I wish it weren’t happening, but forewarned is forewarned. Thanks for the ask.
