Je suis en train de penser aux Chevaliers d'Emeraude encore parce que apparemment cette année c'est le 20e anniversaire de la série (wow) (mon dieu) (je vais avoir 24 ans cet été.)

Et visiblement Anne Robillard ressort la série (Version Québécoise du coup, nous en France on a toujours la version Michel Lafon), avec des nouvelles couvertures et tout - alors. La plupart je les trouves pas ouf, mais on a la dernière que j'aime vraiment beaucoup. En France, le tome 12, y'a Amecareth dessus.

Sur la nouvelle édition d'Anne Robillard c'est ASBETH !!! Mon HORRIBLE OISEAU préféré !!!

Regardez-le. Regardez-le comme il est beau. Contrairement à moi quand j'ai fait du fanart y'a genre 2 ans la personne qui a dessiné ça a pas oublié qu'il a les yeux violets PTDRRRRRRRR

La tierra de nuestra historia: Arabelluce

Este es un acercamiento a cada estado principal

Aquí pueden encontrar el mapa completo de Arabelluce (Es increiblemente pesado asi que les tardara en cargar): I am heavy file.

Para explicar un poco los estados:

Etherdale: Es nuestro centro del imperio, donde reside la realeza y se basa principalmente en manejo de comercio marítimo y discusión de política en todo el imperio. Actualmente pertenece a el emperador Asbeth y familia real.

Dragmourne: Pertenece a la familia Gran Ducal Draakonian, se especializan en inteligencia y comercio, relaciones sociales no son su fuerte pero son su principal ingreso. Al estar en el norte cerca del "Dark Forest", se consideran una casa en peligro de ser atacada por los residentes de este. Su clima es frio por defecto.

Obsyhelm: Sus dueños son la familia Gran Ducal Beorn, su principal desarrollo es la defensa, milicia y comercio marítimo. Son la segunda familia más poderosa luego de los Asbeth, la corona.

Rufflemoor: Los dueños del estado son la familia Gran Ducal Dallyn, su principal ingreso es la Academia Dallyn para nobles y superdotados. Su economía está tambaleando entre el colapso y la estabilidad así que tienen algunos negocios iniciando en el comercio con los Beorn. Los Rufflemoor tienen conexión con la corona, pero no es de sangre directa.

Para aclarar: Los Asbeth controlan los permisos, entrada/salida de los barcos que comercian con otros reinos. Los Obsyhelm son los líderes del comercio, seguidos de negocios principales con la casa real y con los Draakonian. De vez en cuando hacen negocio con los Dallyn ya que estos entran en las partes bajas del mercado.

Y finalmente, estos son los imperios y reinos del mundo:

Arabelluce es la tierra de nuestra historia, principalmente es bastante grande ya que es una tierra sacada de varios siglos de batallas y conquista entre un reino ahora perdido. Sus climas varían dada la extensión del terreno presente; entre ellos: Frío, templado y cálido.

Uprea es un reino pequeño, no es considerado imperio por su poco terreno pero tienen una tensión con Arabelluce dada la incertidumbre de si en algún momento serán atacados como el antiguo reino y su cercanía con el Bosque Oscuro. Su clima es principalmente Cálido humedo, con cierto terreno montañoso pero no poblado con bosques más que en pequeñas secciones. Su economía en el comercio o intercambio con Arabelluce y con Gathyas.

Gathyas es un reino desértico, con su principal relación con Uprea y Xesthuis. Es moderadamente relacionado con Arabelluce y Esmaria. Su economía es conocida por ser comerciante, más los rumores cuentan que son un país de guerra y estrategia.

Xesthuis es un reino de siembra y comercio, su clima es templado húmedo y seco. Sus relaciones son amplias y tienen tanto bosques como montaña. A pesar de ser un territorio similar en amplitud con Esmaria, no desean convertirse en imperio y antagonizar a cualquier otro reino.

Esmaria es un imperio boscoso y misterioso, sus conexiones con los otros reinos son esporádicas y cortas. Se dice que hay una conexión con Arabelluce mediante la familia Beorn pero nunca se les ha visto juntos más allá de funciones reales. No se sabe cual es su comercio principal y se les conoce como poseedores de un poco de todo. Su clima es templado principalmente.

I’m not exactly sure how many people on Earth are familiar with the Knights of Emerald / Chevaliers d’Émeraude AND the Dark Crystal, but I’m hoping there’s at least one person out there that is familiar with both of these stabby starscream birdmen. 

For those unaware but interested:

SkekSil: Is birdman. Makes bird noises. Is cunning and smart. Only cares about himself. Pretends to care about the Emperor but only wants his throne. Will betray and kill anyone in order to get power. Has stabbed people. 

Asbeth: Pretty much the same thing + magic powers and daddy issues.

Plongez dans l'univers fantastique des Chevaliers d'Emeraude !

"Les Chevaliers d'Emeraude" est une série de douze tomes écrite par Anne Robillard. Chaque tome fait plus ou moins 300 pages. Cette série raconte l'histoire d'un Ordre de Chevaliers – les Chevaliers d'Emeraude – qui défendent leur continent, Enkidiev, contre le terrible Empereur Noir, Amecareth, son sorcier maléfique, Asbeth, et sa puissante armée d'hommes-insectes et de dragons. Ils doivent pour cela protéger une petite fille à la peau mauve, Kira, qui elle-même devra défendre le fameux porteur de lumière, qui lui seul aura le pouvoir de détruire Amecareth, tout en protégeant le continent des fréquents raids des hommes-insectes, tous plus terribles les uns que les autres.

J'ai personnellement adoré cette série, pleine de mystères, de magie, de suspens, mais qui a pourtant quelques défauts : les dialogues ne sont pas très naturels (trop de langage soutenu) et il manque parfois quelques descriptions. Malgré cela je vous conseille fortement ces livres si vous aimez tout ce qui est fantasy, magie, créatures imaginaires... et surtout si vous aimez lire, parce que douze tomes, ça ne s'avale pas d'un coup ! D'autant plus que cette série en est suivie d'une autre, "Les Héritiers d'Enkidiev" qui raconte tout ce qui se passe après la guerre, qui fait aussi douze tomes, et qui est tout aussi bien, voir plus !

An early sunset training session with Asbeth and a baby, wingless for now, dragon. (Tanieth are mainly nocturnal due to apparent discomfort with sunlight, although I'd assume that Asbeth being half bird probably curbs this a little).

"J'te parie que t'oseras pas toucher le tas de couvertures !" cria une voix d'enfant dans une langue qu'Asbeth ne comprenait pas.

Il fut rudement réveillé par de très légers tapotements dans son dos, et dès qu'il ouvrit les yeux il se sentit mal à l'aise dans la luminosité relative de la forêt en pleine journée. Le visage caché, emmitouflé dans sa grande cape, il parvint à distinguer cinq petites formes humanoïdes dont l'une était armée d'un bâton.

Groggy, il mit une bonne minute avant de comprendre que c'étaient là des enfants.

"Tu penses que c'est mort ?" demanda l'un.

"Peut-être. En tous cas ça bouge pas."

L'oiseau poussa un gros soupir, causant la fuite instantanée des gamins dans les buissons proches, celui qui avait réveillé Asbeth lâchant son bâton dans la débâcle. Avec précaution, le Tanieth vérifia que sa capuche était bien ajustée avant de se lever, jetant un oeil aux alentours. Le soleil du matin, bien que quelque peu étouffé par la densité de la forêt, n'était clairement pas l'ami des yeux sensibles du sorcier. Toutefois, il remarqua du mouvement proche de lui.

Dire que les enfants avaient fui était une erreur : ils s'étaient plutôt cachés, et continuaient de l'observer avec curiosité. Il y avait évidemment des voyageurs qui passaient de temps en temps dans leur pays, mais rares étaient ceux qui semblaient attacher autant d'importance à se cacher sous d'amples capes. Surtout qu'en cette période de l'année, il ne faisait pas particulièrement froid.

Lorsqu'il se fut relevé de toute sa hauteur, les enfants chuchotèrent entre eux.

"Je te parie qu'il est perdu," fit l'un.

"Tu penses qu'il vient d'Emeraude, comme le dernier à être passé ?" répondit un autre.

"Dites, vous savez que je vous entends ?" avait demandé Asbeth en Zénorrois, causant à nouveau un sursaut parmi eux - cette fois-ci deux d'entre eux déguerpirent sans demander leur reste.

Les trois plus courageux, par contre, restèrent muets quelques instants. Puis, la plus petite des trois sortit du buisson et s'approcha de l'inconnu en cape. Elle ne parlait pas la même langue que lui, mais comme il était clair que c'était un voyageur perdu, elle lui tendit la main.

"Fais pas ça," lui jeta un de ses amis, "tu sais pas s'il est gentil."

"Bah t'as qu'à prendre le bâton de Ju et tu lui lances à la tronche," rétorqua-t-elle immédiatement.

Asbeth, lui, posa simplement sa main griffue qu'il ne sortit même pas de sa cape pour éviter de les effrayer sur celle tendue de la petite. Elle lui lança un grand sourire et l'entraîna vers ses amis.

"Et on en fait quoi maintenant ?"

"Bah, comme a dit Valir avant de se barrer, peut-être qu'il vient d'Emeraude."

"C'est fou le nombre de messagers qui viennent de là-bas en ce moment," ajouta la plus vieille des trois.

Le garçon secoua la tête, mais enjoignit le pas aux deux autres qui étaient visiblement décidés à escorter le mystérieux personnage jusqu'à un adulte compétent.

Moins d'une heure plus tard, ils étaient arrivés dans la clairière principale de leur capitale, et d'un doigt tendu montrèrent à Asbeth où se trouvait l'arbre du roi, qui saurait certainement quoi faire de lui. Le Tanieth s'inclina respectueusement devant les enfants, avant de précautionneusement monter la rampe naturelle qui menait à l'entrée de l'arbre qui tenait lieu de palais.

I love how Asbeth is straight up my OC now because I talk to you about my headcanons for him so much. My Son. Also hey why not answer for both while I'm at it!

The Emperor

36.

At the height of his power, he straight up ignores their existence like an asshole. Acts like he can't hear you, see you, etc etc. He's not really pleasant to be around if he doesn't like someone, but as long as they're not a threat he's not going to kill them you know ? There'd be no point.

After his fall* ? He often has to deal with people he does not like. He hates it because he can't get rid of them willy nilly and he has mastered the art of the Customer Service Voice. He looks very polite to them, even though he only wants to throttle them.

*I realize I barely talk about this bit but that's spoilers technically kfjskdjsksk eh who cares he very much loses power at some point

Probably did considering how old he is ? I don't know if he'd give animals a reason to bite him or if he is biteable. I do know that once he's a marble statue he does not give a shit.

Hm, hm. During his reign he wishes to be Perfect. It's not even "do i deserve it or should I earn it", it's "I need to become perfect or else I will fucking die (metaphorically), why else would i have the gift to change bodies all the time???" And he's just striving for this perfect body, this perfect version of him that does not exist. What is he if he cannot become perfect?

There's a lot of discarded marble bodies hidden somewhere in the castle. Faces once perfect now abandoned.

After the fall, he's very lost. He can't dedicate any time to his dream and he's only fueled by a desire for revenge that he cannot possibly fulfill alone - he can't fathom that he hasn't earned the revenge, but he is forced to wait. And wait. And wait. And hide during all that time.

Asbeth

If I had the books on hand I could give you textual evidence for my thoughts on him but I'm not at my parent's house until later this afternoon tbh. But i believe he's the kind to be hurtful and hateful every time it's possible for him to do so without consequences. If my memory serves right he was a fucking asshole to Sage when the poor guy was stuck on Irianeth because he considered Sage a threat. And his goal is very much to murder the sister he does not like. So if he can get away with it, he's going to do everything he can to hurt, mentally or physically, someone he does not like.

He works with dragons on a daily basis. Even when they recognize him as The Boss, a lot of dragons are straight up babies and will bite anyway. He gets bitten semi regularly i think

Oh my god yes. He DESERVES to be the emperor after his father Amecareth dies, hell if Amecareth gets too old he will DESERVE to murder his father and take his place. He's just the best there is and he should get exactly what he wants so he can rule. He has earned it because he's Asbeth and who is he if not the heir of the Tanieth Empire ? I think he'd have a good old existential crisis if he was denied this "right".

- draw the humanized versions I did of Dialga and Palkia, because I love them so much. Palkia has a crop top you guys

you know, thinking back on when i picked up the knights of emerald again- i fully thought that i would once again fall in love with the good guys i already remembered liking. Like, Wellan ? He was my hero as a kid, and i related to/projected a lot on him. Nowadays I like him, but it really feels like he is a 13 year old in a 20 year old's appearance in the first book. Of course kid me would have loved him ! He behaved the same. Now at 22 he feels childish. Which is understandable considering he never had help for any of his emotional problems in those books l o l

What i did not expect was enjoying one of the villains much, much more than any of the main cast. If, when I was 13, you had asked me which character i hated the most - I WOULD have answered Asbeth. He's an asshole ! He murders a child ! He has no morals ! So far he's the one with the most consistent characterization because he doesn't appear a lot and mostly just tries to kill people ! I love him. He's my child now.

Shill amène Kira à Irianeth. Elle se fait renommer Narvath.

Il devient en gros un conseiller pour Amecareth, mais il est honnête sur le fait que les infos qu'il a sur le continent concernent surtout Shola de manière récente à cause de tout le bordel causé par son père, Draka.

Ptet on peut avoir du bonding sur les mauvaises décisions des parents là. Avec Shill qui tente de ouf d'être un bon père en mode humain et Amecareth qui est juste là en mode mais wow ma fille se comporte tellement pas comme un bébé Tanieth, pire que Asbeth quand il était enfant même.

Asbeth il a des mixed feelings sur le bébé mais tant qu'on lui demande pas de baby-sitter il est à peu près ok avec sa présence. Il va galérer quand elle va grandir par contre

Aussi, on peut avoir tant de tristesse du côté d'Amecareth car elle lui rappelle forcément Mayland, le gamin mort. Ça et le fait qu'on sait qu'il y a quelques autres hybrides qui avaient été récupérés par Nomar - le gars doit être trop triste que ses enfants arrêtent pas de disparaître, et le fait que Shill bosse vraiment avec lui pour élever la petite ça lui fait du bien quelque part

Ok but what if Kira had not been sent to Emerald by Fan, and instead Asbeth actually picked her up as a baby to give back to Amecareth ?

Since Amecareth, once Kira is older in the books, absolutely wants to make her his heir, that'd be a very interesting thing to explore ! She's an extremely powerful magical baby, likely more than Asbeth in the end, and Asbeth fucking loathes her. I don't think Amecareth is a great father either, so it'd be... interesting, to say the least.
