The film focuses on the life of Antoni Benaiges , a teacher from Mont-roig del Camp, in the Baix Camp, in Tarragona, Catalunya, who in 1935 was sent to the public school in Bañuelos de Bureba, a small town in the province of Burgos, Castilla la Vieja (Castilla y León). Little by little, and thanks to a pioneering and revolutionary teaching methodology for the time, he will begin to transform the lives of his students, but also that of the town, which is not always to everyone's taste.
It's based on the book of the same name by Francesc Escribano and has been adapted for the big screen by Albert Val, and its director is Patrícia Font.
To tell the story of Antoni Benaiges (Enric Auquer), the film interweaves past and present and the master's story will be known through the eyes of Ariadna (Laia Costa), a woman looking for her great-grandfather who disappeared during the Civil War.
The producers of the film wanted to emphasize the essence of this exciting story: " 'El mestre que va prometre el mar'  is a great story that has been unfairly forgotten for many years. With this film we are repairing an oblivion and at the same time valuing the work of the republican teachers and recognizing the struggle of so many people who still continue to search for their relatives buried anonymously in mass graves. An exciting and fully valid story.
Part of the technical team is made up of David Valldepérez, director of photography; Josep Rosell, art director; Dani Arregui, editor, and Natasha Arizu, composer, among other professionals.  
The film is shot for six weeks in various locations in the demarcation of Barcelona, in Mura, and in Briviesca (Burgos). It is a production of Minoria Absoluta, Lastor Media, Filmax and Mestres Films AIE. 
RTVE and TV3 participate and it has the support of the ICAA and the ICEC . Filmax is in charge of distribution to cinemas.

I ricordi li costruiamo noi. Prendiamo dalla nostra vita eventi importanti, col tempo li spogliamo di alcuni orpelli e li arricchiamo di altri che ci fanno comodo, dettagli che aiutano a sottolineare un determinato sentimento che vogliamo enfatizzare. Se il ricordo è bello, è probabile che lo descriveremo riportando sensazioni che in quel momento magari non abbiamo neanche provato: sono suggestioni successive, che rafforzano l'amore, la gioia, la passione. Il ricordo negativo, al contrario, viene rivalutato. Rimane l'evento avverso, ma stranamente non appare cosí ostile come lo è stato all'epoca. Una storia d'amore tossica e imbevuta di liti furiose verrà ricordata come quella di una coppia che non andava troppo d'accordo, e il relativo malessere verrà accantonato in nome di un revisionismo che alleggerisce il dramma. Il dolore di un lutto percorre il sistema linfatico del nostro corpo per sempre, ma pensare a chi si è perso dopo che la vita ha ripreso il sopravvento genera solo un triste sorriso di commozione.
Tutto passa e viene riscritto dalla nostra mente, che ripulisce di inutili elementi l'essenza della memoria.

A Gentle Reconciliation
I saw her serving as I approached the salad bar apprehensively. Our interactions over the last months have been few, but tense.
Mainly because the first time we talked one on one she put me on trial for the sins of the paitriarchy and the misogyny of her experiences as a woman in the church and life.
It was a troubling peek into a soul that had suffered hurt and she seemed bent on taking that out on any man that triggered her.
I’m a fairly easy target as one of the handful of men at a crisis shelter for women and children.
“Why are you here?” is a legitimate question I have to answer.
I try to walk softly and serve gently as I build trust through the consistency of being a kind presence at Union Gospel Mission shelters.
At times those intentions take awhile to convince some women and others just keep their distance. Others throw the punch first anticipating a fight and they figure it’s better to come out swinging then get sucker punched by another man.
I’ve got plenty of scars and bruises from years of pastoring in this reality of cultural brokenness. I try to stay focused and trust the Lord for whatever is needed to find a way to friendlier ground.
Sometimes this happens.
As I approached her and asked for the various items for my salad, she paused and looked at me and said:
“I’m sorry for the way I treated you the last time I saw you…I have issues.”
I was a bit stunned at her conciliatory words and demeanor. I accepted her kind apology and said, I understood, and joked “we all have issues” as I moved down the salad bar.
After chapel she paused as she was walking out and said: “Thank you, what you said was helpful to me.”
I’ve been simmering in the soft glow of reconciliation, grateful for small steps of meaningful bridge building.
It’s not always easy, but these moments are encouraging.
Thank you for the prayers ever offered, they sustain and support the work of love.

Summer 1962. Rio de Janeiro. At the Veloso Bar, a block from the beach at Ipanema, two friends—the composer Antonio Carlos Jobim and the poet Vinícius de Moraes—are drinking Brahma beer and musing about their latest song collaboration.
The duo favor the place for the good brew and the even better girl-watching opportunities. Though both are married men, they’re not above a little ogling. Especially when it comes to a neighborhood girl nicknamed Helô. Eighteen-year-old Heloisa Eneida Menezes Pais Pinto is a Carioca—a native of Rio. She’s tall and tan, with emerald green eyes and long, dark wavy hair. They’ve seen her passing by, as she’s heading to the beach or coming home from school. She has a way of walking that de Moraes calls “sheer poetry.”
Legend has it that Jobim and de Moraes were so inspired by this shapely coed, they wrote a song for her right on the bar napkins. It’s a good story, but it’s not quite true.
While Helô inspired the song, it was another Carioca who carried it beyond Rio. Astrud Gilberto was just the wife of singing star João Gilberto when she entered a NYC studio in March 1963. João and Jobim were making a record with tenor saxman Stan Getz. The idea of cutting a verse on “Ipanema” in English came up, and Astrud was the only one of the Brazilians who spoke more than phrasebook English.
Astrud’s child-like vocal, devoid of vibrato and singerly mannerisms, was the perfect foil for her husband’s soft bumblebee voice. Jobim tinkled piano. Getz blew a creamy smooth tenor. Four minutes of magic went to tape.
A year later, the song was casting its quiet spell of sea and sand on the charts, washing past the Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” It peaked in mid-June at No. 5, selling over two million copies.
“The Girl From Ipanema” went on to become the second-most recorded popular song in history, behind “Yesterday.” Covered by an A-Z gamut of performers, it’s become the ultimate cliché of elevator music—shorthand for the entire lounge revival of the ’90s.
Over the years, Helô Pinheiro (her married name) enjoyed country-wide fame, ranking with Pelé as one of the goodwill ambassadors of Brazil. She never settled on an occupation, dabbling in acting, then running a modeling agency. In 1987, she posed nude for Playboy (and again in 2003, with her daughter Ticiane). In 2001, Helô opened the Girl From Ipanema clothing boutique in a Rio shopping center.
Shortly after, the heirs of Jobim (who died in 1994) and de Moraes (who died in 1980) filed a lawsuit, claiming Helô was only inadvertently involved in the song’s creation and didn’t have the right to use it for commercial purposes.
Helô says, “I never made a cent from ‘The Girl From Ipanema,’ nor do I claim that I should. Yet now that I’m using a legally registered trademark, they want to prohibit me from being the girl from Ipanema. I’m sure that Antonio and Vinícius would never question the use of the name.”
After much ugliness in and out of court, Helô was able to keep the name for her boutique. Today, she reflects on the early ’60s in Ipanema with nostalgia. “I like the time when everything was prettier because of love, as it says in the Portuguese version of the song. I am still touched when somebody plays the song in my honor.”
