07.01.2024 Heute lagen 500 km und ca. 6 Stunden Fahrt vor uns um wieder zurück nach Perth - zurück ins Warme - zu kommen. 🚐 Es ging hauptsächlich geradeaus und die Stunden zogen sich etwas. Mir ging es zum Glück etwas besser und wir konnten uns ein bisschen mit dem Fahren abwechseln. Wir stoppten, sobald wir wieder Empfang hatten und buchten einen Campingplatz für die nächsten und letzten zwei Nächte. 🥺🌏 Wir fuhren an einigen ausgetrockneten Salzseen vorbei. Das getrocknete Salz glitzerte wunderschön am Boden. Was für ein wahnsinniger Kontrast zu dem rot/braunen Boden! 🤩 Irgendwann kamen wir an einem Waldstück vorbei, dass komplett abgebrannt war. Es waren nur noch die schwarz verkohlten Baumstämme übrig. 😟 Unglaublich was Feuer alles anrichten kann… Am Nachmittag kamen wir gut am Discovery Park - Coogee Beach an. Der Campingplatz ist direkt am Meer. 😍 Wir gingen direkt nochmal zum Strand. Andi ging eine Runde baden und ich genoss einfach die Wärme. Nach den kalten Tagen eine Wohltat! Nicki und Steffen buchten für sich schon mal die Fähre für morgen nach Rottnest Island vor. Andi wollte nicht unbedingt mit und ich entschied mich auch dagegen, da ich nach fast einer Woche krank immer noch nicht richtig fit war. 😟 Ich hoffe es war die richtige Entscheidung, da ich eigentlich auch gerne die Insel und die Quokkas gesehen hätte… Zum Sonnenuntergang gingen wir nochmal zum Strand und beobachteten, wie die Sonne hinterm Horizont verschwand. Der erste Sonnenuntergang in Australien am Meer. Die Farben waren magisch. Die Wolken leuchteten und spiegelten sich im Wasser. Einfach wunderschön! 🤩

Luke Vanderwall, 8, a boy Maren befriended at a summer camp. He invited her to see his tent in the woods and she ate him Catskills, NY

Jamie Gash, 10, the son of her mom's boss at the time. He befriended Maren at a party her mom dragged her along to and, after showing her his favorite telescope in his bedroom, he tried to kiss her and she ate him. Badgserstown, MD

Dmitri Levertov, 11, a foreign exchange student that had the bad luck of getting paired with Maren at school. They were assigned to do a project together and Maren ate him at the park. New-fontaine, SC

Joe Sharkey, 12, a fellow classmate and neighbor who took a liking to Maren. He invited her on a picnic and she ate him before dumping his belongings into the swamp. Buckley, FL

Noble Collins, 14, a misfit that Maren befriended after moving to Maine. After falling to his death from an old lighthouse, Maren was afraid she'd be blamed for his death and ate him to cover it up. Holland, ME

Andy, an employee at a Walmart that Maren visited on her way to find her father. He caught her stealing and offered to buy her food in exchange for her 'company'. But when he tried to kiss her in his car, she panics and eats him. Pittston, IA

Travis, 30s, an orderly at Bridewell State Hospital, who was assigned to care for Maren's father. He took a liking to Frank Yearly and when Maren finally came to visit, he offered to give her a place to stay. After admitting that his reason for helping her included his desire to die at the hands of an eater, Maren left, disgusted. She never ate him, but later found his car abandoned by a bridge and assumed to have committed suicide. She takes responsibility for his apparent death.

Sully, Maren's estranged grandfather and Frank Yearly's adopted father. After Frank was found abandoned at a busstop as a child, likely due to his eater-nature, Sully took him in when he smelled what he was. After trying to attack Maren, she knocks him out and eats him.

Kerri-Ann, college student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, who took a liking to Lee while he was travelling with Maren. After being rude to Maren and trying to convince him to ditch her, Lee eats her. Maren uses Kerri-Ann's student credentials and ID to get around campus.

Lee, a fellow eater Maren befriended and fell in love with on her journey to find her dad. One night, when the two of them were drunk, they have sex and Maren blacks out. In the morning, she's covered in blood and Lee is no where to be found, only his clothes and hat are left on the floor.

Jason, college student at UWM and who had a crush on Maren. After seeing her working in the campus library, he kept visiting her in an attempt to ask her out. One day, she lures him into a supply closet by flirting with him and then eats him.

Maren keeps a journal and its the one thing she's carried with her since the start of her travels, especially after having her backpack and items stolen a handful of times. In the journal, she keeps track of each life she's taken (and what information she does know about them) so that, should she be caught by the police or die somehow, that hopefully the police will be able to contact the victims' loved ones and tell them what happened. A lot of the journal entries are letters to people that she doesn't plan on sending: her mother, her father, her estranged grandparents, people she's eaten, etc. She uses it as a therapeutic release, but she prefers to think of it as a record of her crimes so that one day the families she's destroyed can have closure.

The Quality on my phone is so shitty- Anyways, I wanted to follow up on my headcanons for Johnny's music taste and well--

I wanted to post this after the whole origin stuff with Tony, Legs and Louie but I worked my ass off on these so you're getting Johnny's origin first. Aight, so in Chief Wiggum's book, Johnny is said to be called "Jonathan Schmallippe" rendering him as being of german descent. Although we also know about his other name "Giovanni Silencio" now this may just be because of the writers, throwing things around here and there but I wanna stick with "Jonathan Schmallippe" for now. (I don't know if this is also because of the german dub, 'Cuz there he is indeed called Johnny Schmallippe but whatever) So In my story he is off german descent, born 1949 in Turin, Italy. His father who worked as a soldier in a well-known mob accidentally snitched and so he and his family moved to West Germany to escape. Seeing as Johnny had also family in Cologne. They had to change their names but other than that life was good, Except for Johnny, he was an only child and so was constantly surrounded by his parents putting responsibility after responsibility on him. Wanting for him to become a more modest civilian so that he could have a good future with good money, he had to spent all his time learning and studying. It was exhausting and infuriating that his own life was controlled by his parents. He didn't vision himself as a doctor or as a professor in some stupid college. That wasn't his ideal future. Everything changed when he went out one night and heard raw and aggressive music coming from a club. This was his introduction to the punk life of the young kids. He met Elias Hoff, a political but chill mannered guy, he and Johnny quickly became friends and Elias even taught him how to play Bass. Just then he saw the potential Johnny has, he even listened to everything that was going on in his life and so invited Johnny to play with him in his band to add some fun in his dull life. That is where he met the other members

Nick = A charismatic Womanizer with a great and strong voice. Andi = A hotheaded bull that often got into fights, a kid filled with anger that he let out by beating on his drums. Karl = He may be young and a bit short but don't let that fool you, he's skilled in Judo and can steal your girl if he'd like. But other than that, a skilled guitarist. And Elias... well, he's an eccentric one. He always gets so cold which is why he wears a coat both inside and outside. Johnny was the bass player they just needed to start playing actual gigs in bars and clubs, they made good money and were starting to think of putting together an album.

This new Life-style Johnny had made him feel free and finally accepted, though his parents strongly disapproved. They had only ever seen Punks as Violent terrorizers on TV, they didn't want their son to become like one of them. Nor did they want to see him going back to a life full of crime that they had escaped.

This led to a rather-- not so friendly conversation between Johnny and his father. Which ended in Johnny having a black eye and leaving his parents House for good. With Bass in hand and joining his band as they rose up in fame, he decided to stay where he belonged.

Ar ôl colli ein ffrind annwyl a’n cydweithiwr Emyr Glyn Williams wythnos diwethaf, dyma rannu ychydig o atgofion a rhai o’r nifer o ddigwyddiadau a dangosiadau anhygoel a drefnodd yn ystod ei gyfnod yn Pontio, fel Cydlynydd y Sinema. Roedd yn enaid caredig gyda meddwl llawn dychymyg oedd yn byrlymu gyda syniadau i’w gwireddu. Mae gan bob un ohonom yn Pontio atgofion melys o gydweithio gydag Emyr. Roedd yna sgwrs i’w gael o hyd a digon o chwerthin, trafodaethau dwfn a phaneidiau o goffi.

Penodwyd Emyr yn Gydlynydd Sinema cyntaf Pontio yn 2015, ond dilynodd yrfa eang fel cerddor, gwneuthurwr ffilmiau ac fel awdur, a pharhau wnaeth hynny yn ystod ei gyfnod gyda Pontio. Bu Bangor heb sinema am nifer o flynyddoedd, ac roedd ei angerdd a’i ymrwymiad yn hollbwysig wrth sefydlu sinema i’r gymuned gyfan. Dangosiad cyntaf y sinema oedd Just Jim gan Craig Roberts ddiwedd Tachwedd 2015, ac ar ôl hynny roedd ganddo gynfas lân i raglennu rhaglen amrywiol o ffilmiau – o ffilmiau poblogaidd i rai indie, ffilmiau tramor a digwyddiadau arbennig. Roedd yn ei elfen yn paratoi’r rhaglen hon, yn rhannu ei gariad at sinema gyda phobl Bangor a thu hwnt.

Trwy ei angerdd am sinema tramor daeth ag amrywiaeth eang o ffilmiau i Pontio, gan amlygu a dathlu gweithiau rhai o’i hoff wneuthurwyr ffilm fel Jean-Luc Godard, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Andrei Tarkovsky, Wim Wenders a llawer mwy. "Mae'n rhaid ei gweld ar y sgrin fawr" oedd ei farn bob tro. Roedd yn credu'n gryf ym mhrofiad cymunedol y ffilm; cyfle i eistedd gyda phobl o’r un anian a sgwrsio, dadlau a thrafod y ffilmiau a welwyd yn y sinema.

Trefnodd Emyr lawer o ddigwyddiadau arbennig a oedd bob amser yn unigryw, ac roedd y gwesteion arbennig y llwyddodd i’w gwahodd i Pontio bob amser yn syndod. Roedd gwyliau Psylence yn cyfuno dau o’r pethau oedd yn mynd a’i fryd mwyaf, sef cerddoriaeth a ffilm. Cyfunodd y ddwy gelfyddyd gan greu profiad trochi bythgofiadwy gan ddod a bywyd creadigol i’r sinema. Dros y blynyddoedd arddangoswyd gwaith aml-gyfryngol gan Datblygu, Andy Warhol, Faust, Adwaith, Joy Division, Paul Schrader, Lustmord a llawer mwy. Bydd eraill yn cofio digwyddiadau megis Sabbath y Gwrachod, Mai68, digwyddiadau Off Y Grid, Arddangosfeydd Ffilm Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Bangor a Choleg Menai, Citizen Pontio a dangosiadau gyda gwesteion arbennig megis Joanna Scanlan a Celyn Jones. Heb sôn am y llu o wyliau y byddai’n eu cefnogi; Abertoir, Watch Africa, Kotatsu, Ffilm Ifanc, BFI Academy, Film Locos i enwi rhai.

Roedd dyfalbarhad Emyr i’w edmygu, a chreda’n gryf mewn adeiladu cynulleidfa a thyfu digwyddiadau dros amser. Bydda ei eiriau ‘Adeiladau fo, ac mi ddown nhw’ yn cael eu gwireddu bob amser. Bydd ei chwant heintus am greadigrwydd a thorri ffiniau cydymffurfiaeth o fewn arddangosfa sinema wrth galon ein rhaglennu yma yn Pontio am byth – yn enwedig ein traddodiad blynyddol o Withnail & I adeg y Nadolig.

Mae’r ardal a Chymru gyfan wedi’u cyfoethogi’n ddiwylliannol gan ei barodrwydd i ddangos y darlun ehangach a rhoi llwyfan i nifer o wneuthurwyr ffilm, rhaglenwyr, cerddorion ac artistiaid i arddangos eu gwaith yn y sinema.

Bydd cyfraniad arloesol, beiddgar ac amrywiol Emyr i ddiwylliant Cymru yn aros gyda ni yn y cof, yn enwedig drwy’r ffilmiau a’r gerddoriaeth y gwnaeth eu creu a’u cyflwyno dros ei yrfa a’i fywyd. Rydym yma yn Pontio yn ddiolchgar ac yn falch o fod wedi galw un o’r unigolion mwyaf caredig a chreadigol i gerdded drwy ddrysau Pontio, yn gydweithiwr ac yn gyfaill.

Trailblazing transgender psychiatrist Jeanne Hoff has died

Jeanne Hoff, a trailblazing transgender psychiatrist, died at her home in San Francisco at the age of 85 this past October. Born to a working-class St. Louis family in 1938, Hoff received a master’s in science from Yale and a medical degree from Columbia University, the Advocate notes. A doctorate in solid state chemistry at University College in London and training and residency as a psychiatrist at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis followed, according to Gay City News. She was a member of the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, which later became the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. In 1978, she was the subject of an NBC documentary, Becoming Jeanne: A Search for Sexual Identity, which documented her own gender-confirmation surgery. In a remembrance published by Gay City News earlier this month, Andy Humm, who knew Hoff personally, wrote that she “was a very serious person — though with a great sense of humor and warmth.” Hoff, Humm wrote, was adamant that a person’s gender did not determine their sexuality and “took other psychiatrists to task when they would help a man transition to be a woman and then insist that as a woman, the patient had to form intimate relationships with men and not be ‘gay.’” “Dr Hoff knew that erotic attraction was independent of gender identity and that there are, of course, trans women who are lesbians,” Humm wrote. Humm knew Hoff through the Catholic LGBTQ+ group Dignity/New York. “Her fierce courage was unique at a time and in a Church institution that was and still can be so homophobic,” Rev. Bernárd Lynch, who also knew Hoff through the group, told Humm. “Yet she found warmth, companionship, and support from many. Jeanne inspired us by being herself — sparing no price and counting no cost in her integrity.” In her 2018 book, Histories of the Transgender Child, historian Jules Gill-Peterson wrote that “Hoff cared deeply about the well-being of her clients.” “Her work demonstrates a level of empathy entirely absent from transsexual medicine since its advent—not to mention its predecessors in the early twentieth century—an ethic of care that, although greatly constrained by the material circumstances and history of psychiatry and endocrinology, was also entangled with her situated perspective as a trans woman,” Peterson wrote. “It is important to underline that Hoff represents yet another trans person who took an active and complicated role in medicine, rather than being its object.” During one poignant moment in Becoming Jeanne, Hoff was asked by Dr. Frank Field, who cohosted the film with Lynn Redgrave, how she wanted people to accept her. “Well, it may not be necessary for you to go to a lot of trouble to learn about accepting transsexuals if you have a general principle, and that is: mind your own business, I suppose,” she responded. “If you are meddling in the life and freedom of someone else, you ought to do so very cautiously and make sure that you’re entitled to do so and that they’ll be better off for your having been there.” “So if you take the position that people are all… http://dlvr.it/T0Z0GP
