#And then when Luffy was talking to Nami in the base my dad said something like 'other people seem to have a hard time saying no to him'

I convinced my mom to try the live action One Piece, because she's the type to like this style of show even though she isn't into animation and would never read manga, but I didn't think I'd be able to convince my dad because he's usually a stickler for more grounded and realistic stories (his favourite genre is war movies, his favourite movie is Saving Private Ryan, for reference). But, when I brought up with him how I figured it probably wouldn't be his thing because it was fantasy, he mentioned to me that he does enjoy some fantastical stuff if it has like an internal universe logic, like Star Wars, and the more I thought about it, the more I remembered that he also enjoys campy fun action adventure stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously like Indiana Jones or Pirates of the Carribean.
And One Piece has both that internal logic for why people can perform crazy feats (even if it isn't explained right away) which I mentioned to him (just that there is a reason why people can do crazy things in this world), as well as the campy fun action adventure thing going for it, especially in the Live Action (the fight against Morgan's base even has a major Indiana Jones vibes ngl). So I explained that to him and asked if he wanted to try it, and he agreed to watching the first episode with me to decide if he'd watch it with my mom and me.
AND HE ACTUALLY SAID IT WAS INTERESTING SO FAR!! Like, he is NOT the kinda guy to enjoy anime or manga or even western cartoons, always refuses to watch anything anime and doesn't show any interest when I talk about it (I've managed to convince him to watch a few movies like Sword of the Stranger but it's obvious that even when he's not bored or doesn't hate it, it still doesn't catch or keep his interest), and he's really picky about anything fantasy or SciFi, if it like sets off his bullshit meter too much he starts nitpicking the logic behind certain abilities, or decisions, or explanations, etc. I once tried to get him to try Gravity Falls and he wanted to stop after the first episode. He's THAT picky.
So the fact that he actually laughed several times while watching the first episode of OPLA with me, commented about Luffy's character positively several times (he seems to think Luffy is really funny which surprised me cause I thought he'd be the most entertained by Zoro but I mean I can't blame him it is Luffy after all), never cringed or criticised or said anything about how ridiculous it was, means a lot coming from him cause he's always really blunt and honest about his opinion on this sort of stuff (which is fine I don't want him to pretend to enjoy stuff when he doesn't). He actually watched the whole first episode without it losing his attention, and seemed to have fun! And he agreed to watch the rest with my mom and me!
This sort of thing is one of the reasons why I dislike when people just dismiss the idea of live action adaptations entirely. I get that people are jaded with past failures, and don't like when live action is treated like a replacement for or improvement from animation when it isn't. But it is a valid medium just as much as animation or comics or writing are, and can be used to produce some amazing things. And the fact is, there are people who have a hard time connecting with other mediums who will otherwise never engage with this media in its original forms. Live Action, when done well and done right, can reach new audiences and welcome them into the fold in ways the original formats never can.
One Piece didn't need the live action to be popular, obviously, and the live action cannot and will not replace the original, nor should it. But I love that we get to have it alongside the manga and anime. It's just more of what we love, it's the cherry on top of an already stellar multi-layered cake. It complements the original rather than taking anything away from it. And for the first time in over a decade I might be able to share One Piece with my parents, who would only ever have a chance of experiencing it and enjoying it in live action. There's just something so awesome about that for me personally. I just wish more live action adaptations would understand what the One Piece live action understood about the adaptation process, and that's how to keep the heart of the story in-tact, so more people from more fandoms could have a chance to share something they love with more people who it would otherwise not reach.
Anyway, thank you Oda and the OPLA cast and crew for doing live action right for once!

Time for Luffy's fashion exam! Now, I'll be honest, I did skip an outfit because I decided I will be ending this whole thing with the Strawhat fashion show in Episode of Luffy. Also, sorry for the posting gap, I remembered I have other unfinished post sets. That being said, this is a very long one so let's do this!
Tumblr media
Kid Luffy, Post-Enies Lobby & Fish-Man Island: I think it's super cute when Luffy has white t shirts with red based logos because it reminds me of the first picture. Makes him look baby plus, they can always be found in cute domestic EPs or fun, cute flashbacks. The shorts change over time and that's also kinda cute, a range of cuffs is a nice change up. It's nice to see the red contrast the blue shorts and the white is a nice color on him cos it contrast his hair!
Tumblr media
Romance Dawn, Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark, Sabaody Archipelago, Amazon Lily, Marineford & last Dressrosa outfit: This look is the pre Luffy look. It's the pre Timeskip look everyone thinks of is cuffed shorts, Kimono sandels and sleeveless vest (and Strawhat, obviously) but have you ever seen them all in a line? It's mad. Each outfit is the same basic look bit more are more spicy each time! I like the Thriller Bark and Sabaody Archipelago looks a little bit more cos it's nice to see that jacket open and it feels like he was trying something new. I also feel that the buttons on the jacket look like the ones on Shanks' pegged ankle sailor pants when we first see him so that's cool. (it took me hours to find the name for his trousers, oh my fucking god) The last Dressrosa outfit feels like a nice callback to the rest of the line up here without being too much cos it's just a red vest top instead and I do find it funny it's like the Enies Lobby and it's used in Dressrosa because of the jokes people make about Robin and Law being so similar.
Tumblr media
Timeskip: This is it lads, it's the one true icon itself, the post look! ☺️ When I sit back and look at it I see all the people this look is influenced by and want to cry at how masterful it really is. (Now, I do wanna say that I didn't come up with this nor am I the first to say it and I am definitely probably looking too much into this but) The yellow belt is taken from Shanks' red belt the first time we see him and the Shanks look Luffy is more familiar with. Now onto the jacket. I know it won't stand out as to why for most but it's Ace inspired! When Ace leave to become a pirate, the start of his adventure, he has his jacket open and Luffy having his jacket open also shows his scar from the ending of Ace's adventure. I also really appreciate how no one hides scars in this anime. Also, someone said that the style of the jacket and it's fancy frills could be in reference to Sabo's little jabot collar and honestly I do see it. it's quite subtle unlike Shanks' but not as hard to catch as Ace's so I enjoy thinking that it's there too. Lastly, he still has his cuffed shorts and kimono sandels because it's still Luffy's outfit at the end of the day and he is still who is is, just with a stronger appreciation of what people have done for him now. It's also his colour pallette for the pure fact he is the main character n needs his pallet. also sometimes he just has normal wooden sandels but the same outfit sometimes, it's a small detil a lot of people overlook but I prefer the sound of his Kimono sandels 😊
Tumblr media
Dressrosa: I love this outfit cos it's stilly but also has very nice vibes. Looks ready for the beach but is really throwing hands and that's the best kind of outfit, it's a nice expectation subversion tbh. I also like how he tried to hide the Straw hat but not... All of it? And I love how the crew didn't actually question it either. It would have been super easy for one of them to just tell him to leave it behind or something but I do really love how respectful they always are of the hat. I myself have a hat that's super important to me and when I loose it I go mad.
Tumblr media
Whole Cake Island: I love this arc for outfits! I swear if the actual content of it doesn't kill me, the act looks will 😭 it's all so magical and it knows it is! Like I said before, white is a good color on him as he has black hair but for the same reason, so is black! In this arcs outfit range, the Staw hat seems almost invisible and his outfit gets less and less 'Luffy' as the arc gose on showing this is not about him. He's not the focus of this arc and you can see that in a lot of the outfits thb. I also like the lack of blue and yellow, 2/3 of his colors as Sanji is often associated with those too as we've talked about before. Also, I like the little red strips on the white jacket with the gold buttons, idk why and I think it's nice that the last 2 outfits are so simple in general, it's a nice look for him. oh, what's that? A Pink jabot? Your killing me Lu, straight up killing me here lil' bro! Side note, is this the first time in canon Luffy has worn a suit jacket or is it the only time I've noticed? Cos DAMM!! Shits sick as fuck and I actually love that when wearing a suit jacket as such he always keep short on 😆
Tumblr media
Spa Island, Z's Ambition & Strong World: WHOS READY FOR A RELAXING SUNNY DAAAYY!? (pun not intended but very much enjoyed) I actually adore the fact Luffy still tries to go swimming cos it was his favourite thing to do as a kid so like fuck Luffy is gonna give up on that. He's got his safety measures ready, what more do you want from him? I mean I personally want him not to swim with his hat on cos it's litrally Staw and that's not good for water but anyway Z's Ambition, am I right!? The top is so fucking cute and I just noticed those shorts are also ✨designer✨ fancy man!! Now, the pic of Zoro is the one I missed out before and it's also from Z's Ambition. I love that Luffy has the shark top but Zoro has the ocean shorts. I really love Zoro in this purple cos and thick white stripes really work with the ocean waves. It's really well put together and hes got dark brown sandels on to off set all the white but keep the purple from being a stand out color, it's cool! Than the last Luffy looks like he's at a fashion show. It looks like the shorts come from a kids set the shark top belongs to. Imagine those together, it'd be so cute. However, it isn't an ocean patten, those are clouds cos Nami has a bikini top with the same pattern in Skypiea and it's actually one of my favourites for her.
Tumblr media
Boss Luffy Historical Special! This filler AU is so much fun, I think any it a lot. He has his hair up in that super cute and useless way that doesn't actually do much but I do have my hair like that a lot n it's just... nice? Idk, it's strange buy I like he did that. I really enjoy his Kimono more that the actual Wano one cos it's a lot more simple look. The Sai being tucked in in that way is also cool but kinda makes it look like it's stabbing him a bit 👁️👄👁️. I like the pin strips being like a faded purpleish cos if you just glance at it, it makes it look it fuzzy. The belt also looks very nice with the middle ligter bit. It really feels like the Wano one was inspired by this is a way cos of the color matches. Like, it's probably not but still.
Tumblr media
3D2Y, Adventure of Nebulandia 😍 & Heart of Gold: Hat-less Luffy is both a sin and a blessing. Regardless, I LOVE OP BOYS IN HOODIES!! I had to show you this specific the 3D2Y because we don't see the hood and it's soooo cute cos it a paw 😍 but also 😬 cos it's like... Kuma's paw the thing that cause 3D2Y in the first place. But that's also why it's so cool at the same time and AHHHHHH 😄 Now! On to Nebulandia! I really like this movie but also in canon, how does he have that jumper? Who made it for him and can I have one? It's Usopp flag design so I guess it could be him but he doesn't seem the type. Point is I want one. Last of this set is some really cosy outfits!! "How much fur?" "Yes" am I right? Like the first one is sooooo cosy with all the fur! Plus, a funky new bamboo hat, always a good thing to have a new hat. I appreciate that you can see the zips on these too. Then the orange turtle neck one with little fluffy bits is just here cos it's so out of his usual looks, I had to at least mention it.
Tumblr media
Strong world & Film Z: The shorts on the first one are really cute cos it's a light rosey pink with red fur and just a plain solid dark blue colour jacket works really well. Not to mention the fact he has a super cute orange and yellow flight helmet hat with goggles on under the Staw hat. The 2 bag straps also make an X which is a nice detail. The 2nd outfits in this movie are super fuckin cool ngl. It's so strange to see them all dress in black and have guns but I like the red shirt for him with the yellow highlighted parts. Makes the Straw hat actually work with the outfit instead of ignoring it. Film Z brings us the same flight helmet hat just brighter and without the goggles but also opens with this T-Shirt and Luffy being silly with it. I think that's the only reason to mention it, it's funny. Then the obligation pirate outfit, always stunning plus the meat belt.
Tumblr media
Film: Gold & Stampede (also used in Cidre Guild): these are my top 3 Luffy outfits no matter what else I see. I love the straw cowboy hat sooooo much cos it's very Luffy. I like the balls they has as a team to choose white for all of them, considering they are all quite messy people, living for that dad shirt and I like the Golden chain around his neck but am always confused as to why it was never used against him. Like dude could and should have tried to choke him at least once, right? Anyway, the dress! Now, the dress isn't actually that good but it's my favourite because it shows how Luffy has no fucks about gendered things. On to of that, a big pink flower is wonderful and look at his confidences in it, he's so proud of it the boom, Nami told him he can't wear it! Lastly, the Stampede outfit!!! Just like the Nebulandia jumper, I have no idea who made it but it's irrelevant cos it's beautiful and I want it so badly. I like that it's white and red stripes, gives thenprefect vibes for Stampedes opening. The shirt is actually too big for him, you can see on his arms but it's actually super cute. I love the simple look of these shorts then the fact his yellow belt is replaced with white bandages and the black on the kimono sandels are now red? It's such a simple pallet and it's truly the best!
I also just wanna add, I think it's really cute when Luffy has the Straw hat on his back just cos his hair is really cute. Idk why, it's looks kinda cursed but cute at the same time
This post took 2 weeks or so to make and we made listening to the complete BNHA soundtrack, film gold OST and Sonic generations vol.1

A New Dream Chapter 2
                                               Chapter 2
I psyched myself up got dressed and headed towards the kitchen. Thankfully I knew where it was not only from watching the show but from the noises coming from one location. I couldn’t help but smiles. Despite being transported to the One Piece world and having my whole image changed, I was happy. I love this world and the people in it. So I entered the kitchen with a very big smile on my face.
“Sam darling here take a seat.” Sanji says trying his best to be a sauve gentleman.
“Thank you.” I reply getting comfortable. I look around the room to the faces of the crew. It was so unreal to see them all in the flesh. Brook does get up and walk over to me.
“No Brook. You cannot see them.” I say before he gets to me.
“But I didn’t say anything.” He replied looking heartbroken.
“Remember when I said I know everything? I know what you say to girls and more often to Nami. So no.” I remind him. Brook than sits in the corner with a cloud of sadness around him. The rest of the crew began to laugh. It was so infectious that I joined in. It felt so good to just laugh after everything. They begin to stop laughing as Sanji starts handing food to Nami, Robin, and myself.
“Tell us more about yourself.” Robin says picking up her wine. I take a bit of the food and can’t help but sigh in happiness. The food always looked so good on tv but it tastes even better in real life?
“My name is Sam and I am 27? My birthday in my world is March 30th but I don’t know what day it is. I am one of four kids, all girls.” I say taking another bite of food and taking a sip of wine.
“Must have been tough on your old man.” Franky said before chugging some cola.
“If it was he never said anything about it. Dad loves us and is happy he had daughters.” I say trying to not sound mean.
“Why do you like Zoro so much?” Luffy says with a mouthful of food. The whole room goes silent again. I feel my face getting red again. Goddamn it Luffy! Why did you have to ask that question.
“Don’t ask the lady a stupid question.” Sanji said kicking Luffy on top of his head. I put my hands in my lap and just looked at them. I was never good with facing my feelings or the people I have feelings for. I am awkward and just stop talking. Besides Zoro, based on what I have seen, is probably not interested in a relationship. There are so many things he wants to do. One of which is to make Luffy the king of the pirates. But I couldn’t help having a little bit of hope. I was in a different body in this strange world, maybe there was a chance.
“You don’t have to answer that right now, Sam.” Nami says also punching Luffy on the head. I couldn’t help but think I was going to have to answer her later.
“I like all of you. For different reason. Jimbei is my second favorite because of what you have done for Luffy.” I cheerfully say smiling at him.
“Thank you for your kind words but I only did what I thought was right.” Jimbei states proudly bowing his head a bit.
“Still that whole battle showed me good characteristic of people as well as bad. It still makes me sad thinking about what was lost.” I reply with sadness filling my voice. I felt tears begin to form as I remembered Ace and Whitebeard dying because of Blackbeard. Thinking of Blackbeard I began to get angry. No pissed is the better word. If only Whitebeard turned him away everyone would be alive. But at the same time I have this feeling that things would have been different and not in a good way. I sigh. This world is harsh.
“Are you okay Sam?” Chopper asked looking concern.
“Yeah it just has been so much. I feel happy and sad.” I truthfully say picking back up my fork to start eating again.
“I have a favor to ask.” I ask having finished my meal.
“What do you need?” Luffy ask sounding kind of serious. I had everyone’s attention so I might as well ask. What is the worst that can happen? Though I hated asking anything of anyone. I felt that I was being selfish whenever I would ask, but that wasn’t true. By me not asking I would get stepped on. I was not going to let myself be like the old me. No one was going to take this away from me.
“Since my body has changed I wanted to see if anything else changed. Normally I am not very strong plus I was kind of hoping that I ate a Devil Fruit.” I laugh. It sounded so stupid but what if. I always thought if I could live in this world I would have eaten a Devil Fruit.
“I don’t see why not. Hey Zoro bring down some weights.” Luffy says getting up. I quickly follow the group to the deck of the Sunny. Zoro had grabbed some of his smaller weights which were still bigger than anything I had ever lifted. In my old world I was only able to life up a 15 lbs weight. I was kind of already regretting this decision. No I was not going to back down. Not now and never again.
I walk over to the smallest weight, again not that small. Everyone was looking at me seeing what I would do. I took in a deep breath and reached for the weight. Grasping the metal bar in my hand I start lifting. To my surprise it did not feel heavy. I managed with ease to lift the weight over my head. I set the weight back down and took a step back.
“Well.” I say looking very much shocked. I just lifted a weight that I never could have from my old world. I look at my hands thinking what the fuck am I now. It seems that with this new body there were more possibilities to me now.
“I am guessing from your expression that that was not normal.” Robin calmly states while everyone else is looking different modes of shock.
“Absolutely not. I could barely life weights and suddenly I can lift Zoro’s? Something happened and I don’t know what that was.” I reply trying to think of what could have one transported me to this world and two gave me this body. I wonder what else it could have given me.
“There does seem to a mysterious force at work.” Robin commented.
“You guys are surprised by that? Why this one time…” Usopp started to say but I cut him off.
“Not now Usopp.” Usopp looked like I had just kicked his puppy. I was not in the mood for one of his lies or stories. I have been taken from my home and given an entirely new body. I was freaking out. Plus Zoro is real! My heart cannot handle that fact.
“Sam you’re getting red again.” Chopper pointed at my face.
“It’s nothing Chopper. I am fine.” I told him trying to think of anything to get rid of my blush. Nami looked at the sky and got a very concerned look on her face.
“Guys there is bad storm coming our way. We will have to see if you have a Devil fruit power later Sam.” Nami told me. I nodded and started to head inside when something knocked into the Sunny. Everyone stopped and went over to the rail to see what it was. I stood next to Zoro not because I wanted to but because that was how we were walking to the cabin. Once again the boat rocked really hard. I was leaning too far over and fell. I hit the water and it was like all my energy was taken away. ‘It looks like I have devil fruit powers’ I thought as I slowly sank to the bottom of the ocean. The short air I had swallowed was gone and soon darkness began to block my vision. Just before I blacked out I saw a figure swimming towards me. Before they reached me I blacked out.
Editor’s note: This is the second chapter. The first chapter is better but I still like this one too. This may be a slow update as I write when I am inspired. So I hope you are patient with me. But I promise to do the best I can! I hope you enjoy this chapter!

bento
based on this art by iga_guri which was inspired by Nami’s Nissin Cup Noodles commercial
——–
“How do you do, everyone? My name is Nami. Please take care of me for the rest of our senior year!” The orange-haired transfer student cheerfully exclaims as she bows her head in front of the class. Everyone applauds calmly, but there’s one boy who does it differently from the rest.
“Psst, Zoro.” Usopp lightly kicks the chair in front of him.
The mosshead yawns loudly without looking back. “What?”
“Something’s wrong with Sanji.”
“Everything’s wrong about him, what do you mean?”
“Not that! He’s not exuding hearts at the new girl!”
“Who cares? At least he’s not being annoying for a change.” Zoro replies nonchalantly.
Usopp eyes Sanji, whose mouth is slightly opened, but surprisingly behaving well on his seat. “It’s heckin’ weird, man.”
Zoro flicks an eraser at his blonde seatmate’s head. “Oi, are you dead or dead? Choose one.”
Sanji touches his head at the friction but his eyes never leave the transfer student.
Zoro raises an eyebrow at him. “Hmm? It’s not really unusual behavior. Probably just delayed reaction.” Zoro picks up the eraser that bounced not so far from him and proceeds to sleep on his chair.
Sanji, still not minding the hard eraser that his marimo friend threw at him, says “I think I’m in love,” with his mouth gaped open and cheeks blushing.
———
Not long enough, Usopp realizes Zoro was right about the delayed reaction when Sanji finally finds an opportunity to talk to the transfer student right before break time, and has radiated  hearts like there’s no other girl he would do it for an hour later.
“Nami-san, oh Nami-san, your name is so beautiful! As beautiful as your laugh!”
Nami gives him a blank stare, which surprises Sanji. The orange-haired beauty, realizing the awkwardness of the situation, quickly changes the expression on her face and smiles at him with ease.
“Haha, thanks for the compliment! Your name is?”
Sanji fixes his composure. “My name is Sanji. Nice to meet you! Since it’s break time, shall we eat lunch together, Nami-san?”
Nami looks down on her notebook. “Oh, I’m not so hungry.”
“Eh? Come on now, Nami-san. You won’t be saying that once you see my bento.”
“What?”
“I always bring a lot of food that I cooked myself! ” Sanji hurriedly runs to his bag to get his bento and show Nami. “Here, have a look!”
Sanji proudly opens his bento and it was the most beautiful packed lunch that Nami has seen. It includes a little bit of everything: onigiri, tonkatsu, shrimp, veggies, and fruits like strawberries and sliced apples. He even has a small container for seaweed soup. Her stomach suddenly growls loudly.
“See, I told you, Nami-san! So let’s eat?” Sanji’s eyes turn into hearts by now, which makes the transfer student back off a little.
“Um, well. Sure!” Nami opens her bag and on the side of her books is a small plastic containing one piece of melon pan with a bite on it. She quickly hides it from view. Sanji sees it, however, but pretends that he didn’t.
“Um, it seems I forgot my lunch box…” Nami says nervously.
“Ah, then I’ll share my food with you!” Sanji exclaims.
“Really? You’re my savior!” Nami hugs Sanji around his neck, which turns the blonde almost into a puddle of goo on the floor.
Nami eats too heartily with the extra chopsticks he provides her, as though she didn’t eat anything for two days. Sanji smiles, but can’t forget the face while she’s eating and the face she made when she first looked at him.
———
“Perona, let’s go? We’re going to be late for cram classes.” Tashigi pushes her eyeglasses while looking at her friend who’s panicking slightly.
“Something wrong?”
The richest student of Class 3-B keeps rummaging her huge bag and books. “I can’t see my Givenchy crossbody bag?”
“What? You just bought it two days ago, didn’t you?” Tashigi asks worriedly.
“I know! It’s not like I can’t buy another but…Dad’s still going to get mad.” Perona pouts.
“We need to find it. Ask around these guys and I’ll go back to the girls’ restroom. I’ll check if you left it there earlier?”
“Okay, although I already looked around…” Perona frowns. “Oh hey, Nami!”
Nami freezes in place when she sees Perona approaching her. “Sorry to bother, but did you see any silver crossbody bag around here?” The pink-haired elite student asks.
“I didn’t, sorry. Excuse me, Perona, but I’m running late for my part-time job. Bye! I hope you find your bag…” Nami runs toward the classroom door.
Sanji wonders why Nami took the expensive bag.
———
The next day, Perona’s missing Givenchy crossbag becomes the talk of town, until she sports a Fendi handbag when she comes to class, saying “I just dusted it off from the closet!” She doesn’t seem to mind the loss, but Sanji, as a ladies’ man, likes to think otherwise.
Sanji insists sharing his food with Nami again at lunch time even though she says she’s on a diet. She had the same gusto in eating the food he made, but he wonders if her not having lunch is just an excuse now.
After class dismissal, Nami leaves again in a rush. Sanji tries to go after her but Luffy and Usopp start playing around like kindergartners.
“Can you guys-” Sanji, in an attempt to see where Nami is going, shoves the two boys having a friendly brawl in front of him.
“Ouch, that hurt, Sanji!” Usopp exclaims.
“Can you guys flirt somewhere else? You’re blocking my way!”
“Eugh.” Usopp fakes throwing up, and Luffy snatches his waffles while he’s distracted.
“Hahaha! You lost, Usopp!” Luffy runs outside the classroom and in the hallways.
“Dammit, Luffy! At least share with me the waffles I bought from my own allowance!” Usopp chases Luffy while Sanji shakes his head in disbelief.
“Huh, wait? I lost Nami-san.” Sanji runs in full speed to the hallways and thankfully, he easily spots vivid orange hair as the girl turns around the corner. Sanji keeps a considerable distance and silently follows her to the school grounds.
———
Sanji finds out that Nami is working in “Arlong Park Cafe,” one of the biggest restaurant & cafe chains in their district. He hides himself behind the huge menu board and tall potted plants beside the store’s door. He sees Nami through the window getting scolded by one of the managers for being late. She apologizes profusely and goes to the back door, then comes back immediately in view, all dressed up for work.
Before she clears one of the tables, Sanji is shocked to see her sneaking to eat the leftovers on the plate.
Sanji has decided that he would wait for Nami after work.  He pulls a lollipop from his pocket and starts eating it.
She doesn’t come out of the cafe until four hours later.
“Sanji-kun.”
The blonde is taken aback to see Nami standing by his side while he is seated on the ground of a nearby alley.
“I know you’ve followed me all the way here. I saw you on the subway and through the window at work.” Nami says with that same blank stare she gave him a day before.
“Well…Let me expla-”
“You saw me eating the leftovers, didn’t you?”
“I did, but…”
Nami tightens the hold on her bag. “I know you’re disgusted by it.”
“No, Nami-san!” Sanji flails. “You’re not one bit disgusting.”
“It’s okay to be, just don’t tell everyone about it in school. Why did you follow me?”
“I promise you, I won’t. Cross my heart.” He gestures a heart with his hands and smiles nervously. “I am actually here to ask you about something.”
“What is it?”
“It’s about Perona’s bag.”
The orange-haired beauty’s demeanor suddenly changes. “You knew?”
“I saw you taking it when you thought no one else was looking.” Sanji says, putting his hands in his pocket.
“Just so you know,I’m not going to give it back to her. But don’t tell anyone about it in school. I will share you half of my earnings when I sell it, if that will shut you up.” Nami’s eyebrows crease.
“It’s not really about that.” Sanji asks.
“Yes and keep it that way.”
“I care about you, Nami-san.”
“I need money to pay for my rent, not your care.” Nami starts walking away from Sanji. But the boy is quick to pull himself up and catch Nami by the arm.
“Anyone who eats my food with a smile on their face automatically gets that, you’re no exception.” At this, Nami stops walking.
“I don’t know what problems you’re dealing with, but I’m ready to help.”
Nami touches the hem of her skirt. “No one can help me but myself.”
“Just remember you’re not alone. See you tomorrow, Nami-san.” Sanji walks by her and waves coolly from behind, with the lollipop between his fingers.
———
Nami walks to school the next morning, and as she approaches the entrance. he sees a familiar figure leaning on the wall from afar.
“Sanji-kun.”
“Been waiting for you, Nami-san! Here’s your bento.” Sanji extends his arms to hand Nami the lunch box he prepared.
“What? For me?”
“Yep!” Sanji says excitedly. “Open it!”
Nami opens the bento hesitatingly, but when she sees omurice, sausage, sliced potatoes, and tangerines, she is almost drooling.
“Why, Sanji-kun?”
“It’s nice to see you eat the food I made.” Sanji’s heart eyes start appearing.
At this, Nami wholeheartedly laughs. “That’s…nice, I guess. Thank you, Sanji-kun!”
“And I also brought some money.”
“Money? For what?”
“I’ll buy Perona’s bag.” He replies indifferently.
Nami’s eyes bulge.“What?!”
“I can’t let a beauty like Perona stress over a Givenchy!”  Sanji’s tears flow uncontrollably.
“Don’t go making me feel guilty now… You can’t possibly pay for it, can you?” The orange-haired girl eyes him suspiciously.
“I can’t, but I’m not alone on that.”
Before Nami could ask, a bunch of boisterous voices echo all over the school grounds.
“Oiiiii Sanji!” Luffy comes running to shake Sanji. “And uh what’s her name again?”
“Her name is Nami!” Usopp says as he fixes his backpack.
“Oh, Mami! Hey!” Luffy flashes his teeth at Nami with all smiles.
“I said it’s Nami, idiot!”
“Hey, loser. How’s your head? Why are you still alive?” Zoro says, in his coolest and most collected manner, to piss Sanji off.
“Shut up, mosshead. You think I don’t know what you did the other day?”
“So what, you think you’re smart now?”
“Can’t we just go to class normally and stop this bickering?” Already exasperated, Usopp goes ahead of them toward the building.
“Luffy, what the heck! Stop shaking me!” Sanji’s face is almost blue.
“Hahaha!” Luffy chases Usopp toward the building entrance, followed by Zoro.
Nami just watches the scene unfold in front of her and can’t help but feel delighted with her cheerful classmates.
“Those guys are gonna help you out as well. As I’ve said, you’re not alone, Nami-san.”
“Why are you doing this, Sanji-kun?”
“Because I looooveeee Nami-san! Do you love me too now, Nami-san?” Sanji starts the noodle dance around Nami.
“Sure, sure.” She answers halfheartedly, but maybe with a little truth in it.
