Fuck it, King Peppy analysis.

I see a *lot* of Peppy hate, and I get it, but I also have to break my silence. I really do not think he’s as bad as people say he is. In fact, I kind of like him! “But he lied about the strings!” “But he didnt rescue the snack pack!” “But he lied about Viva!”. And to that I say ladies and gentlemen, let me cook.

1. He lied about the strings. OF COURSE he did. Peppy knew three things: one, like Branch said, the strings coming together leads to fighting. Two, if Poppy knew there were other trolls, she’d immediately apply the cupcakes and rainbows and hugs method until they were besties. Three, the strings and ensuing fight+whatever Poppy was cooking would be too much for the tiny tiny Pop troll population to handle. They can’t fight, so they do what pop trolls do best, hide. That’s exactly what Peppy was trying to do. Next.

2. He didn’t go to rescue the snack pack in the first movie. First of all, mans is ancient. Second, someone needed to stay behind and watch the villagers while they were in Branch’s bunker. He’s not built for long ass physically intensive adventures, but he can run a village and hold authority and keep everything from being trashed completely, which he did. We can safely assume that the bunker was fine after the first movie and not completely destroyed, likely thanks to Peppy. If he hadn’t stayed behind and kept everyone in check, the place would have been uninhabitable. But nah, Peppy kept everyone safe and stable. Hell yeah brother.

3. He lied about Viva. Can you imagine how devastated Poppy would be to learn that she has a sister, only for that joy to be crushed when he has to tell her that said sister is dead? Poppy wouldn’t be able to let it go, especially with her longing to have a sister. Why make her mourn someone she doesn’t know when she doesn’t have to? Why give her that trauma when she, in all reality, is fine not knowing? Because even if it was messed up because she found out, before she found out Viva was alive she was…completely fine. And he said it himself, he was heartbroken. Pop trolls don’t process their feelings, they repress and sing a happy song a little louder than usual. How was Peppy supposed to heal from his own loss and sadness, only to then turn and inflict it on his only remaining daughter, while still in survival mode? He couldn’t. So he didn’t.

Look, I’m not saying King Peppy is perfect or that he didn’t make mistakes. I’m just saying that he did his best, and he’s not a bad character, person, or dad. He raised Poppy to be the amazing Queen she is, he brought his people out of a horrific and dangerous situation and kept them safe, and when he couldn’t protect them anymore he knew his limits and passed the torch on to his daughter while still supporting her, and he went to therapy and began to change his mindsets and heal from everything. He’s definitely not as bad as some people say he is.

One last thing I noticed about him while rewatching TBT. When a Pop Troll is happy, consistently, their ears stay pointed upwards. When a Troll is sad, their ears droop down. And if they’re sad or gray for long enough, their ears droop down permanently. (Cough cough see my Floyd and Branch ear post cough cough.)

Peppy’s ears are the only ones that just…stick out flat. Forgive me, I couldn’t find any good screenshots from tbt.

Not sad, not happy. To me, this means repressed. He wasn’t just chilling in the background like teehee I’ve made no mistakes ever :3. No, he didn’t like that he had to do those things. He had major trauma and probably a ton of issues he was hiding or repressing, and is only just now beginning to work through them. Why only now? Because he’s not in survival mode anymore. Poppy is queen, strings are destroyed, bergens are chilling, okay, now he can begin the healing process.

Sorry for the novel, but I just really like Peppy and I think a lot of people don’t cut him enough slack or give him enough credit. He’s doin his best.

An unlikely scenario, but what if Velvet and Veneer got Branch? Like. They heard that the pop trolls live the forest, they probably found branch during a hunt and went "hm. Yeah he looks good" and napped him before the others found em

Would the Tribe join in on rescuing him? Would the farals?

What'd thing do?

(I have many questions on this scenario, as it's my favourite-)

Honestly this is a scenario that rides dumb luck sooooo HARD!!!!!! (it would be near impossible to catch Branch!!! his instincts of fight or flight wins everytime no matter the option) Velvet and Veneer would trip over a passed out Branch who is just…laying…on the ground?!?!? while looking for pop trolls (at first they’d think he’s ded but he just passed out from like a week of no sleep) Without really looking at him carefully (they just see a small troll body) They immediately do a quick grab and go!!!! but once they do get a good look at him they realize he’s grey which brings up a lot of problems in their head, but thankfully he’s still able to produce talent (he would last longer since he has over 20 years of untouched talent) Velvet and Veneer wouldn’t send a letter to Brozone (since Branch is basically unrecognizable)

Meanwhile the village is losing it because their leader is missing!!! Thing is in the worst condition as they are violently searching every where for Branch (he has flipped 5 pods over) Eventually they figure out Velvet and Veneer are the ones who took Branch (maybe from some torn fabric or hair that they use to sniff them out) The ENTIRE village proceeds to go and hunt down Velvet and Veneer(at this point they are furious and on the brink of murder, Thing is leading this hunt and is foaming at the mouth and shaking from rage)

After beating up Velvet and Veneer horribly (and grabbing Branch’s diamond) they go home!! For like 3 days they struggle to break open the diamond. (Everyone is really stressed about it Thing is freaking out the most that Branch might die in the diamond) Branch finally confesses that they need the perfect family harmony to break the diamond (this was after they tried using a diamond shattering diamond hammer and it being the wrong diamond hammer (don’t ask me where they got it) No one in the village is technically related to Branch so they freak out more, until Branch says he has Brothers (wow Branch is pulling a king Peppy with all these secrets) At the mention of brothers the the entire village goes brother hunting. (Thing already knew about the brothers but just forgot they actually existed and weren’t just a few names)

After like a day they bring back 4 successfully kidnapped brothers who are flabbergasted by what happened and are soon thrown into shock by the state of their brother (who is still in the diamond) After a couple days of struggling to do the family harmony and working out their many MANY issues they finally get Branch out of the diamond. (Throughout all this Thing is glaring daggers at them) The brothers then try to spend time with Branch trying to get to know him as best as they could, though they wish the village would back off and let them actually be around Branch without being dragged off by some rando and that thing.

Eventually Poppy finds out about the village by complete accident and Clay tells Poppy about Viva and everything else goes as cannon (plus some more overprotective bros and a very stressed out Thing about Branch’s safety)

just a Brynth universe I've been thinking about (it's a bit long just a heads up)

the different futures or universes fill my mind, the different ways these two were able to come together I really love it.

I have this little one, AU? Rather it's an idea that pop trolls are somewhat similar to putt-putts, only they're not as hostile, they're distrustful, and in fact the tribes are somewhat similar.

Yeah, things aren't going so well in this place, back to the point

branch is a little younger to be precise a teenager of, what 16? and in general several characters also live at this age, branch is the same as always gray and with his bunker, although he is not on such bad terms with the pop town since they agree on some things, he continues to distance himself from them

The story begins when Synth arrives who for x or y reason were chasing him (again, things are not going well at all in this place), the first one he finds is Branch in the forest and they both think 'what the hell is that?' but there is no time to wonder because now they are chasing them both, and synth is struggling since he doesn't know how to walk very well, branch just thinks about how to get out of that situation and manages to save them both (accidentally)

Now they are in a fairly safe place and the first thing Branch does is interrogate him somewhat abruptly and Synth is super confused both by the escape, by saving himself and that he is immediately threatened (again) by the guy who just saved him (his brain he does his best to understand the situation jajja)

they talk for a while and (don't ask me how) they become "friends", synth leaves because branch gave him the opportunity to leave but he doesn't really leave, he stays in the forest because he has nowhere else to go, time passes and The inhabitants of Villa Pop have been 'seeing' an intruder near the lakes/rivers Branch immediately assume who it is so they go looking for him.

It's easy enough for him to find him, and they fight a little, in the end Synth reveals that he has nowhere to go, Branch looks at his puppy face and since he is a lonely and abandoned teenager (like him) he decides that he can stay with him. in his bunker (all this behind the backs of King Peppy and the Villa)

a little context for the pop trolls, king peppy is just as crazy as in the movie but in a bad way and is somewhat extremist with intruders or people outside his village in general, poppy is something like the voice of the reason for him, but if he orders something she will comply because she is not queen yet (again everyone is younger here) they still have parties and poppy together with they friends are the ones who generally keep the spirits up in the place.

Back to these two loners, Branch teaches new things to Synth like Branch is a pop troll, the forest animals how their bunker works and Synth is totally impressed, they both learn from each other, Branch is a little worried because they are searching to synth and knows that he can't hide it forever, at this point they have already fallen in love but since it is something new they haven't realized it (I imagine them doing things like dancing in the middle of the forest with the fireflies, they light up and have fun and they are sooo adorable and soo dense jajjaj)

and here comes the drama because Poppy somehow discovers them or well finds Synth and is about to attack him when Branch tackles her (I don't know why I imagine this scene is kind of funny XD) they roll for a while and manages to get away enough to see the panorama, surprised, is branch PROTECTING the intruder, who for two months has been scaring several trolls in the Villa and Poppy complains to him and asks 'why?' branch is still a little defensive and says he's his friend, Poppy on the outside looks a little surprised and understanding but on the inside she jumps excited because finally the town grumpy has a friend and will no longer be alone (although not for long :c)

while synth is surrounding branch with questions and worries about the sudden fight, in the end they both make poppy promise not to say a word about this to her father she does and leaves, sometimes poppy finds by 'chance' a branch and asks very 'discreetly' about synth and everything is calm, but not even a week passes when they are discovered Poppy wants to warn them but her father holds her back

King Peppy chases them and is really upset because he had been looking for him for quite some time and practically plans to lynch him, he has a chase that happens during the night (unfortunately for Synth) they get lost for a few minutes and enter a cave where they find them again again (they still have no idea which branch is the one who has been hiding it, they only know that it is someone from the town) at the end of the cave there is a large pond that they assume goes somewhere

and here he gets sad because they are cornered and the guards along with peppy are approaching, they are both holding hands with synth shaking with fear, branch is watching the lights get closer and tells him that he has to go into the water , Synth refuses since it is super dark and he does not want to abandon Branch, Branch encourages him, and instead of saying goodbye Synth gives him his hair tie promising to come back for it (Branch) and finally he jumps, Branch manages to climb and get out before they see him

King Peppy in his fury destroys the cave in the hope that at least he doesn't come back (synth is fine don't worry) and now a few months will pass in which the king is quite distrustful of his own trolls, Branch is definitely depressed and Poppy He feels absolutely guilty (although she had nothing to do with them being discovered) but things just followed their 'normal' course.

my imagination went that far, they will probably meet again on a world tour shortly after this, although since things are a little more problematic here, some things will happen before they have their break and can go live far away or help rebuild alliances and improve things between the tribes.

I would write a mini fanfic about this but I don't have time and I think I would abandon it and I DON'T want that to happen, so I better leave this here before it disappears

ALRIGHT, SO-

World Tour, where (please excuse my language) shit hits the fan, for real. My notes on this saga is hectic and convoluted, so I'll try to make some sense of it for this post. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the askbox or my DM's, whichever you prefer.

I wanted to do bullet points for this, but maybe most Tumblr users prefer to read long paragraphs than bullet points, since my posts not having bullet points do better? IDK, I've only been on Tumblr for like, a year at best so forgive this soul for her cluelessness lol.

And also, depending on how much I've typed, I might have to split this saga into three parts, 'cause I know y'all don't actually want to read a really long post that took up three scrolls wide lol.

Anyway--let's start this crazy train.

So, the story begins the same way as it is in the movie--opening shot with Cloud Guy giving a quick recap about the first movie, and then the next shot panning towards the Techno Trolls (ay, Branch's tribe, let's go!). Unfortunately, the amount of screentime (or appearance in this case) they got here minimal, since we're focusing on Branch and co.

But anyway, same thing happened, King Trollex hosting the rave, Barb barges in demanding his string and destroyed Techno Reef to get him to comply, same old. Poor guy, honestly, he just wanted to vibe.

Next shot pans to Pop Village, same thing there. Everyone is smiling and singing and dancing (with Techno!Branch joining in, look at that! Since he can't extend his hair like everyone else, he relies on acrobatics and just generally hang onto someone ((mostly Poppy)) whenever they swing on the trees with their hair). Branch tries to confess his love to Poppy, but got friendzoned unintentionally by her (ouch). Then Barb's bat pet thing comes in, and King Peppy's history lesson.

They're not the only ones here in this world. There are other trolls out there; Pop, Hard Rock, Classical, Country, Funk, and Techno.

This is where it gets interesting. At this point in time, Branch has all but accepted that he's possibly the only Troll in the village that looks the way he does. That he's the only one that ever existed in the world. It's why he and Cooper has a sort of closer bond with eachother in this AU : different Troll (tribe, but not that they knew this yet) solidarity. Sure, he was curious once, like how come is egg was in the Troll Tree, why does he look different, ect. But now he's more than content with his current predicament. He has friends now, something to look foward to; he was happy, after so long.

But now with the news that there are other Trolls out there, different from the rest, his past yearning came back to life. And while King Peppy hadn't said it outright, his lack of words all but confirmed Branch's suspicions. That he's not the only one out there. And from what he saw in the scrapbook, he can pinpoint which one of the tribes he supposedly belongs to; Techno.

Then we cut to when Poppy packs up to leave and got caught by Branch. The same argument happens, with the addition of Poppy saying that because there are different Trolls out there, then shouldn't Branch be curious about them? Who knows, maybe there's a tribe that looks exactly like him! Branch refuted by saying that, even if there was a tribe just for him, how would he connect to them? He's been living as a "Pop Troll" his whole life, what connection can he form with these hypothetical Trolls (identity issues go brrr)? What if they found out that he's gone Grey for almost all his life? If the Pop Trolls, who has known him since he was born, didn't react well to his whole Grey-ness; what are the chances his own kind would react badly to the news? Or worse, reject him outright.

Before he could go on, boom! Cooper appears from the shadows and said something like, "That's not how you really think, ain't it Branch?". They were surprised he's there, and then they exchange some more dialouge sort of expressing Branch's concern about not fitting in with his hypothetical tribe out there, and shed some light on Coopers concern as well about wanting to find you who you really, and even if you don't fit in atleast you know the truth now, that sort of stuff. IDK, I'm not great at writing angst, lol.

Anyway, after some convincing from Poppy, Branch relented and decides to accompany her (even if he denies it, he wants to know if his people is out there). Cooper also wants to come along, and while Branch refuses for his own safety, Poppy allows it in the condition that he sticks with them at all times. So, the three sets of to explore the entire Troll Kingdom, to "reunite" all the tribes and make one big party at Queen Barb's World Tour.

Little did they know just what kinds of trouble they'll encounter on their journey.

Woah, plot twist, Cooper actually comes along instead of going on a solo journey this time around! He replaces Biggie in this! What a shocker! Shocked emoji!

Admitedly, while it's funny the first time, Cooper's solo adventure is... I don't wanna be too rude about it, but it's sort of unnecessary in the big run? I mean, not entirely unnecessary, but like, if you remove that and just have him go along with Poppy and co., nothing major would change. He'd still be reunited with his family in Vibe City, except this time he'll have a first time reaction to the history of the Strings and see the truth of it, y'know what I mean?

But anyway, Poppy, Branch and Cooper's gonna explore the world of other genres. I don't think much will change with his inclusion, but the reactions will be far more varied, me thinks. Stay tuned for the next part, 'cause wow did not expect this part of the series to be so convoluted lol.

Also I had wanted to include some scene redraws from the movie with new implemented elements for this AU, but artblock is gripping me tight and college is starting soon, so I won't have much time to draw than I do write. So, yeah, hope y'all don't mind lol. I'll definitely do some artwork for this AU in the future though, believe it!

some little story ideas I thought up about Chef coming back in the next movie inspired by this other persons post.

so yeah I liked this other person's idea for a 4th film a lot so I thought up some extra details for a possible story where Branch is taken by Chef who gets revealed to still be alive.

I do really like this idea as the older Brothers coming together to save him from his greatest fear would be a satisfying story arc.

as the movie could maybe open with Poppy Peppy and Viva as well as all of Bro zone all just playing happy families getting along with each other and adjusting to the whole thing pretty easily.

meanwhile Branch Despite putting on a fake smile and hiding how he feels is still just feeling uneasy about the whole thing he could kinda be on a constant nervous edge where he's so afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing and causing tension that may cause them to fight and thus leave him again.

that he's pretty much a nervous wreck around his Brothers desperately trying to make sure everything is perfect all the time and never asking them for help or letting them know about any negative feelings he has from time to time Regarding them and also Grandma.

and he overall just doesn't feel like he has a family he can rely on anymore than he did During all those years that he had no family for.

in short he just still doesn't exactly trust them nor feel comfortable around them as their still somewhat strangers to him who he mostly knows from the past as being unreliable and quick to flee when the going gets tough.

which maybe causes some sorta argument where during an event JD gets frustrated with how he and the others can clearly tell he's been hiding something from them due to how weird and off he acts.

and he's tired of waiting for him to open up on his own and like I said this causes a big argument between Branch and JD Floyd and Clay try to calm things down but to no Avail.

Bruce steps in and agrees with JD tho he's less aggressive about it and more just calm and concerned.

but ultimately stuff is said on both ends ending with Branch finally letting out his true feelings and screaming at them about how they didn't care enough to stick around they didn't care enough to come back and they didn't care even when he was upset over them wanting to leave him again.

so why should he believe that they care now? and Branch runs away into the Forrest which could be when he's captured by Chef.

I'd think her motive is wanting revenge not just on all of Pop Village but also on Bergen Town given they Banished her twice but she somehow needs the magic that a Troll produces to achieve her plan hence why she takes Branch when he wonders off on his own.

maybe she does something similar to Velvet and Veneer where she drains the Troll magic out of him but this time she's using it to power a device that she's going to use to topple all of Bergen town and its people.

and then Pop Village just out of spite.

and it'd be just be nice as a emotional plot to have Bro zone rescuing Branch from their Grandma's killer maybe we even get some parallels where during the climax Chef in a last ditch effort out of spite goes to try and kill Branch only for one of the older Bros either JD or Bruce.

to push him out of the way sacrificing themselves in a scene mirroring when their Grandma was taken when Branch was a kid tho I'd have it just be a fake out death and they get saved soon afterwards.

but point is the sentiment is the same where they were willing to sacrifice themselves for him.

and early on in the film it'd be good to finally have Branch acknowledge that he is aware it was Chef from that fateful day and he angrily comments on it only for her to callously not Remember who or what he's talking about stating that she killed so many Trolls that his Grandma wasn't at all special and she doesn't even remember the day he's talking about.

obviously Hurting and angering Branch given that day pretty much shaped who he became afterwards for his whole life.

and maybe in another scene Branch states to Chef that knows that Poppy will come to save him but when he thinks about his brothers he just thinks back to how easily they've all broken up in the past at the first sign of trouble and he sadly thinks to himself that they likely wouldn't bother coming to save him.

and this leads to Bro zone actually stepping up and Risking their lives to save him from the source of his greatest Trauma aka their Grandmother's killer thus by the end actually showing Branch that he really can trust his family to be there for him this time.

and just Chef getting to face off with Bro zone would be neat since ya know she killed their Grandma and Honestly I've always found it weird from a writing perspective how her being the one who killed Branch's Grandmother was never actually acknowledged at any point in the first movie the only reason we the audience know is a super brief glimpse we see of her During Branch's flashback scene.

so even getting to see Branch himself have a proper face off with Chef over his Grandma would be nice since they never actually Directly interacted in the first film except for the scene where she tried to force feed him to Gristle Jr poor guy.

so yeah what do you think about the idea? the person behind the post did also say that the idea could still maybe work without the whole Chef being Revealed to be alive angle and it instead just being a new villain who kidnaps Branch.

but I feel the first idea where she is the main villain again would add a nice sense of personal stakes to the story for the main characters involved given it wraps up a nice little part of the Bro zone family's History.

sure we saw her get eaten at the end of the first film but that can easily be Retconned where she somehow survived and was able to escape from the creatures mouth.

plus it'd be satisfying to see The Brothers all work together to defeat her in the final battle and this time her Defeat could be Ironic for a whole different reason where due to some magic nonsense in the end Chef gets shrunken down to the point she's now smaller than the Trolls by a lot.

she's made so small that she's as Helpless as her past Troll victims were.

and she isn't actually capable of hurting them anymore we see her angrily charge at Branch and start swinging away and he's scared at first only for him to then awkwardly Realise she isn't actually Hurting him.

Despite her best efforts and he just kinda flicks her away

not to mention it'd be fun seeing Branch and his Bros just playfully toss her back and fourth like some sorta ball kids play with.

really showing how none of them are afraid of her anymore not even Branch which would be very satisfying imo.

and after some mocking by Bro zone towards Chef they pick her up and toss her in a tiny cage where she's most likely kept in prison either at Bergen town or at one of the other Trolls Tribes since they most likely wouldn't want to keep her at Pop Village.

anyway I just love this persons idea I think Chef coming back would work great as an emotional plot device to Develop Bro zone's Relationship with Branch Further.

and it could expand on all of the Bros's Relationship with their Grandma a little further as well which would be nice.

Although the writing of diaries had dropped what's your general opinion on Mcd Aphmau? I liked her generally and was annoyed with her in season 2 but generally fine. Oh boy I don't like season 3 Aphmau. I wish there was moral conflicts with her. She is a leader after all and it would be cooler if we saw her struggle more instead of ALWAYS being this benvelont goody two shoes. She would learn anyway given she was reborn with no memories right?

minecraft diaries season 1.

you're greeted by an energetic youtuber, ready to adventure and begin a world of roleplay, mystery, and fun. hey voice is peppy, either keeping you drawn in by the charm or annoying the shit out of you for listening to her for the millionth time. she's by no means a minecraft genius, but there's fun in that.

there's fun in watching her learn the world around her, having been obvious to all of the world around her. you learn as she does, and as she learns she begins to take what she knows and improve the world. she's now the protagonist of this beaten up little village, a smiling face that's only goal is to make things better for her and her growing family. life easier, more fun, enjoyable. there was so much misery and confusion before. she really helped it.

this woman was fun. she was growing. she didn't give up. she didn't understand. but she was love.

minecraft diaries season 2.

something has happened. years of her life were stripped from her in a matter of minutes; she would die the same death, of course, but the world moved on without her and everything she built was gone.

she is not so happy as she once was. there's a saddness to her now. her voice is heavier, not nearly as chipper as what you were used to. where did she go? her clumsy and silly conclusions, jokes, attempts - all washed away, leaving a shell of what once was.

she attempts to be the same, on occasion. but she's not. she doesn't carry the energy she once had. can we blame her?

we'll see.

this woman was tired. she was powerful. she wouldn't give up. she understood too much. but she was isolated.

minecraft diaries season 3.

a woman who was torn down, traumatized, and straight-up taken advantage of. she's come to terms with the fact that she has to make a name for herself, apparent from the title she'd received three years prior.

goddess.

that's not her. she has to prove it. that, and she has to prove she's not willing to be taken advantage of again. she's stronger now; you can hear it in her voice. something so lifeless, so serious, so routine.

she's here to prove she's different than what she spawned from.

it's not working. she's going backwards. she'd never been more herself from the point she'd started this adventure, she struggled to keep the ideals that kept her as

this woman was stern. she was formidable. she couldn't give up. she sought the truth. but she only needed herself to do it.

throughout minecraft diaries, we see a slow decline in what made aphmau such an interesting character to begin with. this head-on attitude, taking everything on first hand without taking in the risks. she wasn't here to stall, she was here to succeed. she did what she wanted, and what she felt would protect the people around her. in season 2, we lost a lot of the laughter s1 aphmau brought. we lost a lot of the smiles, the energy. we lost everything - because we lost jess.

now, say what you will, but in the end, season 1 aphmau was jess acting through a persona. yes, aphmau was in fact a character, but jess was just pulling the strings. she was just her. jess is a very energetic person, and that was very apparent in her initial performance of aphmau. notice, that as the season progressed and got deeper into the pit of the story, there ARE declines in said performance. because now, jess is learning that aphmau NEEDS to be a seperate character. with a world so in depth like this, a story running this deep? she can't hold aphmau's hand anymore!

she begins to distance herself from aphmau, making more clear-cut distinctions. aphmau is still oblivious to a lot of things, but she doesn't make a lot of foolish mistakes anymore. a lot of the clumsiness was gone, but the laughter was still mostly there! though, that was beginning to lose its momentum. aphmau was in much more serious situations, she needed to respond more appropriately than she did in the past. no more giggles in serious situations, no more "woah, that's a lot" in commentary of npcs dialogue, smiles seem more scarce.

by season 2, no more high-pitched youtuber charm. we're in the big leagues now - aphmau doesn't remember her origins as a character. she's fully immersed, and all of the continuities are irrelevant to her. she has to be able to build up great character relationships, right? she has to be serious to do that! besides, a lot has happened, its only fair to say that she has the right to be a little upset.

i think its a wonderful narrative of an optimistic character learning the horrors of humanity and slowly declining from there. that's great! but that's not aphmau.

it seems like a progression of aphmau's character, if you wanted to see it like that.

i don't.

i think the best thing jess could do for aphmau was to continue to embody her. something so face-palming about s1 aphmau was the fact that she did not seem to take ANYTHING seriously at first. obviously, things change, but she'd be dropped some important lore, take it in, and move on as always. no matter how distressing the information seemed to be. yeah, some of her reactions make you think "holy shit aphmau why are you laughing. aphmau. what." but that was her charm!

season 2 eliminates that entirely. aphmau is still learning things but she seems to hang on to them. what's weird is that they jumped 15 years into the future without the irene gang but it feels like aphmau emotinally progressed at least three of them, making her a completely different character. now with all of the love problems kicking off, she begins to take a much more isolated, serious, and quite frankly boring route. no more fun commentary. no more adventure risk-taker.

i'm getting tired and losing focus so i'm going to try and wrap this up.

in season 2 she becomes a lot more selfish in my opinion. i promise i'm going to gather reasons as to why i believe this and i'll attach them at a later date, i just need to do a rewatch first to gather everything. she is less an embodiment of love, and more... admiration, i suppose. she's the woman who did it all. she's not the woman who spreads love anymore. this grows increasingly apparent by how she treats laurance later on. she's wrapped up in her own world. i understand having your own issues and needing to work through them - trust me, i do. but some of the issues she faces don't feel like they belong to her character. if you know what i mean you know, but again, i will attach things later.

in season 3, we're not even looking at a blueprint of the same character. she seems to have aged far beyond her damn years, having a strange holier-than-thou tone and vocabulary. put her next to her s1 character, reskin her, boom no reminisce of what once was.

"but matthew thats how character development works" uh yeah WHEN WE SEE IT. bro she skipped a whole ass 3 years we didnt see jack SHIT, its lazy writing and for that i cannot under any circumstance see her as in-character. she feels so empty. she's just a character being voice acted and brought around so that we can learn mroe about world building at this point. please bring back my girls initial charm

anwyays on soemthing im pretty sure i alluded to earlier, it is still interesting though that she becomes more and more like irene the more she tries to distance herself. irene, who became a stoic who felt no emotion - aphmau isn't like that, but she's defintiely losing the power & strength in her emotions. if jess took this direction in writing, id be more content. but she didnt and now we'll never know LOL

Cooper and Jussy's Journey (a Trolls fanfic)

A/N: A gift fic for @jade-green-butterfly! Based on her prompt: A 'what-if' fanfic if I accompany Cooper on his journey to find others like him and I meet his family when we get picked up by the UFO, feeling heartfelt Cooper and them have reunited, and Quincy and Essence assume I am Cooper's girlfriend. During 'Just Sing', I gain a rainbow form and at the end, me and Cooper confess our love and sharing a loving kiss~

Cooper could hear the voices of his friends going back and forth.

Poppy and Branch were so distracted that they did not notice him strolling by a short distance away. Alongside him, and much to his delight, was his dearest friend, Jussy. It was true that he could have come alone, but as he was quick to find out upon her first arrival to Pop Village, she and him had become inseparable. He glanced over at her, and saw that she was putting a finger over her lips. She then motioned towards a nearby bush, where she gently tugged him over to so that they could hide themselves and listen in on the conversation. The two of them, ever since King Peppy had explained more about the different types of Trolls, were curious to know even more.

“We know they’re Trolls,” Poppy said, right as Cooper was beginning to get an itch in his nose. The feeling was making him want to sneeze, and Jussy quickly zipped her hand out underneath it to prevent it from breaking through. It seemed to work, and they were able to hear Poppy say, “Branch, look around Pop Village. Everybody’s different. Even us,” right before…

… AH-CHOO!

In an unexpected manner, it had been Jussy who had sneezed that time!

They heard Poppy and Branch pause.

“Did you hear something?” the Pop Queen asked.

Branch shook his head. “Stop trying to change the subject.”

Cooper and Jussy breathed a sigh of relief. They had not been caught.

Poppy proceeded to untie the ropes of the hot air balloon. “Being queen means having a lot of power,” she said. “And it’s my job to use it for good. I can’t stay home when I know there is a world out there full of different Trolls, just like us!”

Jussy and Cooper exchanged a glance with each other, thinking the same thing. Different Trolls? Jussy asked, silently mouthing the words to Cooper.

They waited for the conversation to end - Branch ending up joining Poppy within the hot air balloon - before they came out. Jussy eagerly tugged Cooper with her. “Come on!” she said quietly. “To the grotto!”

The grotto had been the place where King Peppy had shown the village their musical string as well as the other musical tribes that existed in their world. It was quiet now, save for the sound of the waterfall in the background. Cooper and Jussy crept inside and opened up the scroll that was still upon the pedestal, where the Troll elders were illustrated.

“Wow,” Jussy said, and Cooper nodded in agreement. “They are all different!”

“Yeah…” Cooper said, quite amazed. He was even more astonished when he took a closer look. “And this one looks a little bit like me!” He showed Jussy, who grinned.

“It really does. He even has your hat!” she joked, when a leaf from above them had fallen onto the scroll, right on the drawing of the Troll’s head and making it look as though it wore a green hat identical to Cooper’s. The two of them glanced at each other, coming to a realization.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Cooper asked her.

Jussy nodded. “Yes. But what about the others? Should we tell them?”

Cooper shook his head. “I’ll be back soon. I just know it!”

“You mean we,” Jussy corrected. “I’m coming, too!”

Usually Cooper would jump right in and agree, but this time he wasn’t so certain. “But it could be dangerous, Jussy! I wouldn’t want anything to happen to you,” he admitted.

“And I don’t want anything to happen to you,” Jussy told Cooper firmly. “Friends look out for each other, right?” She took Cooper’s hand in hers and gave him a sweet smile.

Cooper definitely felt as though couldn’t say no to her, not with her genuine concern. And if he was being really honest with himself, he really didn’t want to make the journey alone. Branch had gone with Poppy on their journey. It only made sense for Jussy to accompany him, especially since she was his closest friend. And hopefully something more in the near future! he thought silently to himself, wanting to blush at the thought.

So he did not argue the matter. “Okay,” he said, “but we better get going. Come on!” He waved for Jussy to follow as they raced over to their pods, gathering what they needed and meeting back outside. Cooper now wore a purple cape over his shoulders, and got a spare one for Jussy to wear. His ‘Everything’s Good’ hat got switched out for an identical one labeled his ‘Destiny’ hat. The two friends made it to the edge of Troll village when both paused, suddenly feeling the weight of what they were about to do.

“Goodbye,” Cooper whispered, addressing the inhabitants of the home who were unaware of where he and his friend were going. “I hope I see you again, friends. But even though it’s scary, I have to go out there and see if there are other Trolls like me!”

Jussy patted his shoulder, trying to make him feel a little better. She, too, was going to miss Pop Village, but she knew that this mission was important to Cooper. And whatever was important to him was important to her as well.

And so, without further ado, the two were off on their journey!

Cooper and Jussy trudged through the desert.

They’d been walking endlessly for what seemed like miles. The pair were beyond exhausted, and all that they’d been able to see for a long time was just the glittering gold sand beneath them.

The sun, high up in the sky, also seemed tired. “It’s so hot!” it complained, wiping its sweaty brow.

“We’ve gotta almost be there,” Cooper panted, “I can feel it!”

“I hope so,” Jussy said, huffing as she tried to stumble along. Cooper look down at her, feeling bad. He knew they really needed to rest, somewhere in the nice shade. But where were they going to do that? Luckily, he just happened to spot something shiny in the distance, and gasped when he made out what it was: a refreshing pool of water!

“Jussy! We’re saved!” he exclaimed, he quickly grabbed her arm and helped tug her along as they reached the pool. Before Jussy could say anything, Cooper dipped his long neck in and started to drink. “Mmm! It’s delicious, Jussy, try some!” he said.

But Jussy did not. “Cooper!” she exclaimed. “That’s not water…”

“Huh?” Cooper blinked, and suddenly, the pool of water was not there. It had all been one big mirage! In his mouth was just a bunch of the glittery sand that they’d been trudging on. And it did not taste very good.

“Blech!” He spat it all out, feeling embarrassed, and hoping to get that taste out of his mouth. He then slumped down onto the desert floor, shame creeping in. “I’m so sorry, Jussy,” he said. “I got us into this… and I don’t think we’re gonna get out of it!”

“Don’t apologize,” Jussy said softly, “I knew what I was getting into when we were going. I don’t regret anything,” she said.

“But I never found any Trolls like me!” he whined.

From how Jussy saw it thus far, his statement was true. But she did not want have a negative outlook on it. “We still could!” Jussy pointed out.

Cooper was a bit doubtful, though. He collapsed onto the sand, having given up.

Jussy herself almost felt like doing the same, but a shadow looming above stopped her. Something large was passing overhead, and she looked up, gasping at what she saw was there.

“Cooper!”

The Troll looked up at the sound of her voice, and also gasped. “What the - ?!”

Suddenly, a bright light shone down and a bubble surrounded the pair, the motion so sudden that it knocked Destiny hat off as he and Jussy were lifted into the air.

“AHHHH!” they screamed.

A smaller bubble swooped down and caught Cooper’s Destiny hat before it hit the desert ground, scooping it up with the two.

The sun was astonished at the scene. “Whoa!”

The bubble carried Cooper and Jussy right into the observation room of what turned out to be a very large spaceship. It soon popped, and the pair fell onto the chromium floor with a thud.

“Wow!” Jussy said, putting a hand to her head. “That was really weird.”

Cooper managed to scoot over to her. “Are you okay?” he asked with concern.

“Yes,” Jussy assured him, much to the Troll’s relief. “But… where are we?”

That was a good question. Cooper hadn’t the slightest clue of an answer to that. He tried looking up, but all he could see were twinkling bright lights shining down upon them, so it was very difficult to make anything out that could give him a clue. When he shaded his eyes, he was startled to see two tall silhouettes standing before them. He gave a short yelp. How long had they been standing there?

“Q…” One of the voices said, sounding female. “I think our search is finally over!”

Cooper’s confusion soon turned into incredulous joy as the two figures stepped closer and he was able to see them. Jussy was also happy, a grin stretching from ear to ear on her face. They were two Trolls with long necks and four legs… just like him! Cooper had finally found Trolls that were like him!

The two new Trolls were quite happy to see him, too. “Our son is finally home!”

Cooper’s jaw dropped in shock. “Son?” he asked.

“Yeah, ‘son,’” another voice said, coming up behind them. Cooper and Jussy whirled around, each astonished to find another Troll – this one looking exactly like Cooper!

“Whoa!” Cooper rubbed his eyes, thinking that he must be looking at another mirage. “Are you seeing what I’m seeing, Jussy?”

Jussy nodded. “Yeah… yeah, I am!”

“Hey, y’all,” the newcomer said, his voice friendly. “Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Prince Darnell, call me Prince D for short. This here is Queen Essence and King Quincy,” he said, gesturing at the first two Trolls. “And they are our parents.”

Cooper got even more surprised. A King and Queen were his parents?

Jussy wanted clarification. “Um, king and queen of what?” she asked.

“Of Funk, of course!” King Quincy spoke up, grinning.

“So…” Cooper said, slowly processing it all, “I’m a… Funk Troll? And you guys… you’re my family?” He beamed, astounded by it all. “WOW!”

He charged to them, and the royals all snuggled into a group hug. Jussy happily watched from the side, and Prince D took notice. “Hey,” he said, “there’s enough space here for Cooper’s girlfriend, too. Come on over!”

Jussy blushed at this, an equally red blush coating Cooper’s cheeks. “O-oh! I’m uh, heh heh, not technically not actually Cooper’s girlfriend… but I am a really good friend of his! Right?”

Cooper hurriedly agreed. “Yeah, yeah! She’s right!” he said, wishing that his brother really had been correct in his assumption.

“Oh!” Prince D said. “Ah well, it’s still cool. Come join in!”

Jussy did as told and soon the five of them were engaged in a tight group hug. Then she thought of something. “Wait a second… so if Cooper’s your son, how did he end up in Pop Village?” she asked curiously.

“Yeah, how?” Cooper wondered.

A look of sadness crossed the Queen’s face. “Well,” she said, “when you were both babies” – she gestured at Cooper and Prince D – “Your egg got snatched out of the nest, Cooper.”

“We tried to look everywhere for you, but we just couldn’t find you,” the King added.

“And it looks like Pop Village took the liberty to raise you as one of their own,” Prince D observed.

“Oh!” Jussy said, and then turned to Cooper. “I’m so glad you were able to find them again!”

“Me too!” Cooper laughed.

“Us three!” King Quincy, Queen Essence, and Prince D all chimed in. They waved Cooper over. “Come on! Let’s show you around our home – Vibe City!”

“Ooo!” Cooper was intrigued. “Shall we Jussy?” He extended his arm out to her.

Jussy giggled, loving how much of a sweet gentletroll he was being. “Yup!”

“Let me hear you sing!”

The Queen of Pop sang out for all to hear, and, doing as she prompted, everyone began to sing along, too. One by one, all of the different tribes of musical Trolls joined in. The Funk Trolls, the Country Trolls, the Techno Trolls, the Classical Trolls, and the Rock Trolls all helped create a wonderful harmony that united them. As they sang, a mystical rainbow wave spread through the crowd, making everyone much brighter and colorful than ever before.

Cooper, who was grooving out with his family and Jussy, was in awe at how beautiful his bestest friend looked after her transformation. Her hair was all colors of the rainbow, matching the elegant rainbow colors that were on her flowing green dress. They cheered along with everyone else once the song was finished, relishing that the tribes were all one. Yes, they were all different, but that was something to love!

As Jussy went over to hug the Funk Family, Cooper noticed out of the corner of his eye his friends Branch and Poppy.

“I love that we’re so different!” the Pop Queen was saying to the blue Troll.

“And I love you, Queen Poppy,” Branch admitted, confidently and proudly.

Poppy blushed. “I love you too, Branch,” she said, smiling at him.

Then, the pair gave each other a great big high-five – the perfect connection!

Seeing them gave Cooper a great idea, though he was a little nervous to follow through with it. But still, mustering up his courage, he walked over to Jussy, knowing that there was probably no better time to do such a thing.

“Hey, Jussy?”

The Troll turned at the sound of her name, happy to see it was her dear friend Cooper. She smiled at him, and he smiled at her.

“I wanted to tell you… thanks for helping me find my family!” he said, quickly changing what he had been about to say.

“Aw, of course Cooper,” Jussy replied sweetly. She could tell that there was more he wanted to say.

“And… I… I also wanted to tell you…” Cooper continued, taking a deep breath. “That… I love you, Jussy!”

Jussy gasped at his confession. He, Cooper, her crush and most wonderful Troll in the world, loved her?! That was incredible! Jussy didn’t hold back in her own confession. “I love you too, Cooper!” she shouted happily. Then, before Cooper could react, she jumped at him and gave him a great big kiss! Cooper was taken off guard for a moment, but not for very long, and he gladly kissed back. The Funk Family noticed and were thrilled.

“Way to go, little bro!” Prince D said, whistling at the sight.

“Our boy is in love,” Queen Essence sighed, leaning into King Quincy who was nodding approvingly at the two with a knowing smirk on his face.

When the kiss finished, Cooper and Jussy gave each other the biggest hug, fully enjoying the moment. The musical tribes were all united, Cooper had found his family, they’d made many new friends, and they had finally admitted their love for one another. Nothing could be better than that!

BRUCE: okay so there's technically already a cranky villager named bruce. but hear me out! he'd be a cranky wolf. obviously. (cause theres no bats) ALSO i think the wolf ears look like the ears on his cowl

BARBARA: i wanna say she'd be a normal cat, deer, or sheep!! she's super cute and i think it just fits her :-) i think sheep fits her the most but theres. already a sheep named baabara UM. ignore that!!!!

DICK: this one was tougher!! but i think he'd be a deer? or a bunny. OMG WAIT NO A DOG. and i think he'd be. well i don't know. not cranky for sure but there's aspects of smug, lazy and jock that i think fit him?? HALP!! how it feels to boil down a complex character who's been around for like 80 years to a simple video game desc. uhhh smug. just cause idk what else to put SORRY!!!

JASON: well i think he'd be a wolf!!!! and i'm leaning towards jock for personality :-) i'd put cranky but well. cranky villagers are implied to be Old. and bruce is already a cranky wolf. could maybe see him as an octopus though because his helmet is very Round. but i don't think that's as good as wolf

CASS: cat. to me. and she'd be big sister / uchi i think??? idont knwo. but she's 100% a cat. a black cat, like kiki but scarier.

TIM: he's lazy for sure. lazy villager. i think he'd be a bird. cause he won't fucking let go of robin. i'd make his colours based on the red robin costume tho.

STEPH: PEPPY FOR SURRREE!!! i could see her as a bunny or an octopus. she might also make a good wolf. but it'd be fun to see her as an octopus i think.

DUKE: squirrel vibes. idk why!! squirrel, cat or dog. and he'd be uhh oh god. either lazy or jock i have no idea. but cranky and smug don't rlly fit him? the male personality types are hard to assign.

DAMIAN: HES FROG!!!!!! his ass is a fucking FROG! and i think he'd be uhh. smug? idk the other things don't really fit him.

ALFRED: this one is tough but i'd go with cranky cause they're implied to be old. he'd be an ostrich or a goat or something.

KATE: either big sister or snooty. probably big sister. she's a wolf like bruce cause theyre cousins !!

BETTE: peppy, 100%. she'd make a good cow or duck!! maybe maybe a bird.

And viva was roughly a toddler/just older then that age when the escape happens and she winds up saving several trolls from being eaten.

And we can see she puts on that same mask poppy did in the previous 2 flims. She makes herself happy, so fucking happy for others.

But unlike poppy she's still scared and will trick and lock up those around her to keep them from leaving.

Becaise she's scared to be alone

Little Viva must have been quite the fighter, poor girl was probably absolutely TERRIFIED for her life and fighting to protect her family, only to turn around and find them gone. I imagine she was likely inconsolable for weeks on end and the only people left to comfort her were the other lost trolls. And who's to say she even knows any of them? They could be village members she's never met or barely seen. She could've found herself nearly dying only to be in the middle of a crowd of strangers with her dad and baby sister gone for good. Poor Viva had no guide on how to take care of others, at the very least Poppy had their father's guidance, but Viva got not one bit of parental support. The only backup she would've had would be whoever raised her, but nobody in this group knows the first thing about being a monarch. They have to draw from their memories of who King Peppy was to give any sort of guidance. But at the same time, they're pop trolls, and just like when Poppy was little, Viva probably started singing and dancing numbers and did her best to make the golf course look as pretty and joyful as a pop village should be. Branch's brothers were all still kids when they left, by very vague estimation JD was either an older teenager or a young adult at the time, and he's the oldest brother. So I assume that Clay would still have been young when he joined Viva's crew? (Forgive me its early and my brain can't remember the timeline right) Clay coming into her village and deciding to stick beside her was probably like a miracle to that poor girl.

I know I'm speaking to the void, but I can't sleep, and I know I will never stop thinking about it. It's a good place to get my thoughts out there, and those who know will know. Forgive me if it's scattershot.

I just really miss my old online friend right now, and it kills me inside to this day that I may never know what happened to them. I've been facing a lot of personal familial losses this year, and thus I keep getting reminded of this one in particular. I've tried "moving on", but I don't know if I ever fully will. I've been quiet about it for a while, but I need to get it off my chest.

It's true what they say in that you never know when the last time you talk to a person is - it just happens. Just like I didn't think that night on Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be the last time we'd play online together.

It was funny - what happened. They had asked me what some of my favorite villagers were, and among my long list, I accidently mistyped Cheri, when I meant Cherry (the goth dog girl with a sisterly personality). They were excited and asked if I wanted them to move Cheri into my town (since they had her), and I was delighted and said yes! I realized as it happened that it wasn't Cherry, and was, in fact, Cheri (she's a red bear cub with a peppy personality - I know, it's confusing). But I didn't correct them, and I didn't say anything to the contrary. I was grateful I got to have one of their villagers in my town. In the end, I was just so happy I had someone to play Animal Crossing with and that I made a new memory with a friend there. And best of all, I had the chance to get to know a new villager that I hadn't had in any of my previous towns before.

After we stopped playing that October night of 2021, (God, has it really been nearly 2 years?), they were getting a new job and said they may not be as active. Which is fine you know, life stuff happens! Messages were sparce, but they were still there for a bit.

Their very last message I received was them being excited about having Takis and a clementine over their lunch break. We were catching up. Nothing strange or unusual, just a fun little thing they wanted to talk about in their free moment.

I didn't know that would be the last I had heard from them.

I thought that they were just busy those last few days when they couldn't talk. I left pebbles for them - funny memes I thought they'd like and pretty pictures of clouds I found so they could see them when they got the chance. Again, it was October, and Halloween was fastly-approaching. I was so excited to show them my Beetlejuice costume I threw together for Halloween, and get them caught up to speed on my D&D session that night! But I didn't hear anything back yet.

Hallows Eve, I find out that all of their Tumblr blogs and online accounts are gone through their mutual friends, and that they vanished without a trace. No word on why they were leaving - just gone. I didn't even know until it was too late. That time that I thought they were just busy, in actuality, they disappeared in that absence. Unfortunately, it takes a while for Discord to show that a user has deleted their account.

I know I naturally want to blame myself and think that maybe I did something wrong to make them leave, but I know that isn't true. All the things I wish I could have said and done, had I'd known they'd leave, plauge my mind at times. I'll always have hunches as to why they left, but I don't know the truth. I realize that I'll never know the reality of the situation unless they come back online. I just hope that they're okay and that their life is going well. I hope that they finished their Animal Crossing town and got it just the way they wanted. I hope that they finished, or are at least continuing, their writings in their spare time. I hope that they are continuing to make their awesome artworks to this day - whatever it may look like. Whether it's the original characters and sculptures they made, or Beetlejuice, or Doc Ock, or maybe even their spidersona since the new Spiderverse came out (they're probably on that Spiderverse kick, let's be real). I hope that they are achieving their goals and doing what they love to do, and I hope that they find peace and happiness - they deserve it.

These days though, I can't help but find myself even more worried for them. After all this heinous anti-LGBTQ+ shit that's going on right now, and knowing about the context of their unfortunate family situation, I hope that they are safe more than anything. God, I hope so.

It's hard to play Animal Crossing now after their absence, but when I do, I go and visit Cheri. I even planted an orange tree in front of her house, since I know how much they liked clementines, and I think of them. As a veteran Animal Crossing player, I understand why the old feature of villagers moving away suddenly was supposed to reflect how people you love and came to know would sometimes just leave. But I'm glad I can be a little selfish with the new game in that - even if I don't play the game as much anymore, Cheri will always be there for me to visit. I'll always have a little reminder of them.

I love you friend, I will never forget you, and I wish you all the best. Thank you for being a part of my life, even though probably it wasn't as long as we'd like. Thank you for all of the laughs, the meme exchanges, the silly sketches and drawings, the youtube viewings, the late nights on animal crossing, the deep talks at 2am, and so on. I will always cherish all of the things we did together and will never forget them. I wish I could hear from you again, but I also understand that I may not. Please know you are dearly loved by many and are very, very missed.

"So it's like an alien plant of sorts?"

"Yeah, looks like it. If that Erwin guy is right, then we're facing a potentially dangerous situation that's not just on us, but on the whole town, and possibly even the region. We never know how alien lifeforms can react to our Earth. They're from a whole other world. It's just so unpredictable."

"Man, what the hell did we get into..." Dylan sighed. "I had a shitty feeling about the move, you know, but I didn't know whether it was an intuition or just that I'm always stressed by moving. Of course, Jess told me to relax and that I was being pessimistic. That it'd be okay. I'm not sure now."

"To be honest, I still find the town cute, but... I've got some mixed feelings now."

"I get it, yeah", replied Dylan. "This is just... surreal. Sounds like a sci-fi novel, an anime or a video game. Not the kind of stuff you'd find happening right in front of you."

"I wonder what's the real purpose behind all of this, though. I'm not sure I buy into the mind control theory, but if that mysterious ailment is indeed caused by the plants and a mind control thing... perhaps it's to make us fight a secret war, I don't know. I was never much of a conspiracy theorist. I like them, sure, but I think it veers into schizo territory a bit too often. Perhaps it's because they're painted like this in the media, I don't know."

"Well, to be honest, they're often outlandish, but I can't deny they can turn out to be true as well. No one can deny we walked on the Moon or that the Earth isn't flat, but... we've got aliens here for real, and it was a conspiracy theory until we actually saw aliens taking off their human disguise, and recorded evidence of abductions. Actual aliens. We have cowplants and killer bunnies and those were just urban legends at first. Sometimes they do turn out to be true. Now, what would the powers that be gain from that... I'm not enough into politics or whatever to really decide."

"Has Christie messed with the plants?"

"No, thankfully. She understood I didn't want her to touch them. Jess however, I can see her trying to poke at them with a stick. I think it's only a matter of time before I'll have to call an ambulance or a hearse."

Talking about his wife, Dylan's gaze suddenly became darker. Aiganym leaned in closer to him.

"Is your marriage..."

"Well, it's not really ideal. Hasn't been for a while, but in the past couple of years, it just kept getting worse."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"In a nutshell, ten years ago, Jessica was a really fun person to be around. A real ball of light and joy. Also a really great girlfriend. I mean, you've seen her... the original peppy villager, if you will. She was a breath of fresh air for me. I never really knew joy in my life growing up, and for the first time, I felt I could truly be happy and let loose. We got married within the first year. But the years passed, and what made me fall in love with her at first became really grating. I've matured in those ten years, even if I spent most of my days at home and left my job so Christie wouldn't go from nanny to daycare every day. Jessica, on the other hand, continued to be social and work and hasn't, or barely, matured. I do love her still, but... am I still in love with her, I don't know. I don't even feel like having sex with her anymore. I can tell it's bothering her, and I suspect she slept with a couple people in the past without really having any proof, but everything about her now just turns me off. I'm already not much of a lovebunny in the first place, but now..."

He paused, then pursued:

"Also, well, I wouldn't say she's stupid, she isn't, but I couldn't have talked about her about the things I talk about with you. Conspiracy theories and all, or just video games or novels. I like fantasy and sci-fi, but she prefers more "mundane" topics in books. I just don't feel we are a match intellectually. It wasn't a problem at first, but that's another thing... two years in, not an issue, I still had my original friends back then. Ten years and two moves in, I wish I could have an actual discussion but I can't, and I lost touch with my friends."

"I feel you..."

"Yeah. The best thing is, she has the guts to tell me how to raise our kid when she's not even there most of the time, and was hardly around back during Christie's first couple years of life. I sometimes was afraid that our daughter would end up dead or injured because of just how irresponsible she was. Once, Christie fell down the stairs because Jessica thought "she could climb them down by herself". Hadn't I been there to catch her, she could've broken her neck. Of course, she loves Christie to death, but I feel she's more a best friend to her than a parent, and we frequently argue over this. But I'm sick of arguing. The good thing is, Christie is a smart kid, and was always one step ahead in terms of maturity. I think I did well raising her, at least. I don't trust Jessica with that. At all."

"I don't know what to tell you, honestly... I can't relate. Me and Beatrice generally have got along, even if we argue here and there about things. We've been married for four years, together for six, and what drew me to her never really got old for me. We also don't want children. We like them, but we both are very conscious of what it implies, and our relationship in itself is already a common project."

"You don't have to relate, really. I think I just needed to tell someone about this. Everytime I did, people said I was being overly dramatic, not to mention the ones who called me a sissy or a for staying at home while my wife works and not the other way around, so I stopped talking to anyone about this. "You should be grateful for such an amazing wife", they say. An amazing wife, sure... she's a great friend, a great talker, very charming, but perhaps not for me anymore. I'm a grown man now. I'm not a kid anymore."

"Have you tried going to couples therapy?"

"No. I don't know if that really helps anyway. Besides, I'm a bit afraid of therapists. So many of them are just plain incompetent and I've heard of abuse at their hands. I don't need that. I've already done so much to heal myself from my childhood, there's no way I want all of this hard work undone."

"Again, I feel you... just know that I won't judge you, alright? It's good that you go against these norms. That doesn't make you a sissy. If anything, we need more dads like you."

"Thanks, Aiganym... I mean it."

okay so back to my marshal/raymond debacle... I need a tag for this LMAO

so rosie... sweet beautiful innocent rosie.... has fallen victim to marshal's woes and rants about raymond. he's declared ione is too honest for him. he's not wrong

rosie is marshal's best friend. they got along the very minute they met and rosie said the way he pronounced "buongiorno" was impeccable and just how she would hear in the movies (it wasn't impeccable, but neither of them has to know)

rosie, being the ever-so lovely peppy villager, always compliments marshal on his outfits and he appreciates how she actually notices the small details. for example, when his sunglasses were onyx and NOT obsidian, whereas that plebe marty called them black! ("he called them BLACK, rosie! BLACK! i swear, is he living under a rock?! how he manages to style his house in that cute way *see: pompompurin* but cannot tell the difference between onyx and obsidian astounds me." "marshal please, be easy on him. he asked me today what your favourite candy is because he was going to give them to you as an apology... also just remember not everyone lives in our fashion bubble. you could stand to be a bit nicer!" "humph... I guess you're right. did you tell him i liked chocolate instead of candy?" "yes silly, i did")

sidenote: i seriously find it adorable how smug and peppy villagers get along so well. just the other day marshal was explaining how he loves having cheri as a neighbour despite having to hear bubblegum pop from her windows everyday. you could even catch him humming the melody sometimes....

so back to the matter at hand. rosie could sense from the start marshal had a special inclination towards raymond. ever since he stayed at the campsite. marshal was trying his hardest to act inconspicuously but the fact remains, he brought him up in conversations four different times in the same evening (clearly trying to scope out any information about him). four times. four times more than anyone else he'd mention that wasnt some luxury fashion designer.

rosie knew.

she didn't say anything because she knew marshal would never admit it. but she is now marshal's speed dial for anything raymond related. well actually no, she's marshal's speed dial for ANYTHING. ("is my tail too fluffy today? GOD everyone's going to notice. especially raymond. god i can just imagine what he's going to say. that's it, I'm not leaving my house. tell everyone i'm sick" *later that day* ROSIE WHY DID BOTH BOO AND BEAR GIVE ME MEDICINE?!")

as the best friend, she plays her role to perfection. she gives advice when he asks, she makes jokes at raymond's expense when marshal needs it the most, but most importantly she's just there for him. any time of the day. hence why I've run into them at each other's houses!

also i hope she doesn't mind me saying this but she wishes she could get closer to lolly..... there's just something about her that makes her want to know her more. she always sees lolly sitting under a tree on a nice sunny day with a book and she always wants to approach her and ask about it. she finds her so sweet and cute but despite her peppy and bubbly personality she finds herself unable to string a full sentence together when speaking to lolly! she, in her words, is a "marble mouth" when it comes to lolly.

she goes to marshal for advice. the ironic thing is that marshal tells her to just be honest with her. seize the day. how rosie wishes she could say the same back to him.

(rosie doesn't know, but lolly finds her endearing. the few times they have spoken to each other have been so memorable that lolly recalls them every now and then before she goes to bed. she ends up going to bed with a big smile on her face)

okay, do you know that episode in Trollstopia with that switcher ruby and Poppy and Branch switch bodies for the day? How would Poppy handle running things in the Grey village vs Branch handling things in Trollstopia/Pop village in your Nomads AU? Or would they just come clean and explain what happened this time?

The argument would be about running the kingdoms and how the other is doing it wrong instead of the “you couldn’t walk a day in my shoes” argument, then they would stumble onto the ruby.

At first Branch says he’s just going to tell his tribe what happened since they would understand and just let Branch continue whatever business he needs to do in Poppy’s body…Until Poppy immediately stops him and tells him how the entire pop village would absolutely lose their minds over this!!! Branch understands the issue so they just do a life swicheroo Branch goes to pop village (regretfully because he hates pop village and everything they do) While Poppy goes to the grey village excited that she now has “full control” over the village to make it happier (they would look slightly different Branch in Poppy’s body would look messier and have war paint on her face , and Poppy in Branch’s body would be more put together and clean)

Everything goes to hell!!! Branch goes on a rampage trying to safety everything and everyone by arming the villagers,shutting down every party, getting rations for everyone, has brought a huge dead carcass to the town square for “dinner”, and is currently trying to teach children how to wield a dagger (he’s not doing ok at leading, everyone is terrified and kinda (super) panicking thinking poppy lost it) Viva and Peppy are losing it as the normally always happy Poppy’s personality did a complete 180!!! The snack pack does everything to try and “snap her out of it”

Poppy ain’t doing much better as she is trying to “enhappify” the village. She has started 4 dance parties, 3 cupcake socials, has tried to have 8 dance offs, and 15 glitter balloon fights (everyone is in absolute terror, I mean WHAT happened to their leader?!?!? is he ok?!) after 30 minutes (YES THIS ALL HAPPENED IN HALF AN HOUR!!!!) Thing decides to tackle Branch drag him home on all fours and is currently putting him on house arrest thinking he got rabies or something. Poppy tries to escape only to get caught over and over by the very overprotective and concerned (troll?). Everyone in the village is trying to clean up the village as they run around getting medical supplies, psychologist, and whatever for their leader (they are so scared even the ferals are panicking?!?!!!!??!)

When the brothers find out Branch was acting like a happy troll they try to kidnap him from the village to have fun together as a family but fail as the whole village is on quarantine.

In the end they both would have to do the others job the “right way” as the village has fallen apart with the tactics they were doing. They later escape meet up and confess how hard it was to be the other and agree to leave the other alone on how to run their villages (even if they both think the other could take a page or two out of their book on how to run a kingdom)
