Hero and Warden-Commander of Ferelden, Desmond Amell, throughout the years.
I'm not sure yet of his given name, might change it later, but this is how I imagine HoF looks like. I'm also drawing him full-bodied, and planning on drawing the other heroes as well.

So to preface, this is all just speculation and idk how much weight I really put behind this but:
I've always wondered why the Harrowing seems so very easy for Amell and Suranna. Like, if you really think about it, Mouse does such a half hearted job of trying to possess or tempt them. He gives up really easily. You say "i don't think that other demon was my test" and he's like haha no! Oh, okay, fine. You got me. Well anyway, here's a cryptic warning, bye!
And then that's it.
And like. I always thought maybe Mouse did this bc he had some sort of long con planned- like he'll try and worm his way into your good graces as you continue to live and dream in the tower as you age.
But!! Now I'm having another thought! What if Irving set the whole thing up so you'd have an easy Harrowing. Someone had to bind the demon for the Harrowing right? And he was the only mage there. It stands to reason that he'd be the one who picked the demon to bind. So what if he summoned a demon who he knew would be less dangerous? He clearly cares about Amell/ Suranna and wants them to succeed, so what's to stop him from rigging the system a little?
Because Amell/ Suranna gets to look good to the Templars bc they resisted a pride demon. They get to show themselves to be a mage who's "safe", and who the templars won't have to worry about as much and maybe that's exactly what Irving wanted.
Irving is already putting books on blood magic in places where where apprentices can find them so he can weed out the undesirable apprentices from the Tower to "keep the rest safe". He has no problem gaming the system to see apprentices fail if he thinks they'll be a danger to the circle as a whole. So what if he goes further than that? What if he also manipulates what demons are faced by which apprentices and thus rigs the Harrowing a bit too?
So the mages who are bad at magic get made tranquil, those tempted by blood magic get handed over to the templars for punishment, and those mages who are maybe skilled enough to pass a Harrowing in theory but who he worries will be a problem or a danger later on get given dangerous demons. If they succeed anyway well hey, maybe he was wrong about them, but if not he keeps the tower safe. And then those apprentices with skill who have the right temperament or the makings of a good circle mage or whom Irving's taken a special shine to get easy demons.
Because you can only have so many apprentices become tranquil before people get suspicious or angry. And if every mage passed the Harrowing every time the templars might also get suspicious. So Irving walks a delicate balance.

If one or more is dead, it's up to you whether or not you take that into account. This can also just be a theoretical "them at their steongest". Setting and conditions of the mêlée à trois are up to you, and feel free go into detail of how exactly the fight would go down!

Apprentice mage: I'm terrible at spells. You're lucky you're so talented.
I always get the impression that Surana/Amell... isn't exactly popular in the Circle. They're unusually skilled. They're brimming with natural talent. They're the First Enchanter's personal apprentice. Even the Templars seem at least somewhat fond of them. We're repeatedly told that they're young to be called for their Harrowing and cleared it in record time, and while people are happy to see them still alive the next morning no one seems surprised. Surana/Amell is really, really good, especially for their age, and that clearly wins them a lot of respect from their fellow mages! But it's not going to win them a lot of friends. It doesn't help that the impression I get is that they keep to themself most of the time (most people outside the apprentice dorms recognize them as Irving's star apprentice rather than from a personal connection), but... their best friend is Jowan, and as much as he does seem to care for them he still ditches them the moment things get bad (and I do have things to say on that point, but that's not the point right now). And Jowan is in some ways all they've got; hell, depending on how you view their relationships with him and Irving it's easy to create a scenario where Surana/Amell is completely isolated in a way that's very difficult to match with the other origins, all of whom have people around them who clearly do love them with zero evidence of any potential ulterior motives.
This is getting away from me a bit. What I mean to say is, Surana/Amell's canonically ridiculous degree of natural talent and skill absolutely leads to comparisons. It's most notable with Jowan (not over how if a mage Warden is the one who executes him he'll admit during their last conversation that they were always so much better than him that he felt inferior and turned to blood magic in the desperate hope that it would make him stronger), but it shows up in places like this too. People compare themselves to Irving's star apprentice, and it doesn't tend to put them in the best light. The Warden is just... too good. They definitely seem to be the star of the Circle's apprentices! But they don't seem to have... any friends outside of Jowan. And that definitely adds something to their dynamic with the party later, when they do get all these friends and loved ones and all these close relationships that Surana/Amell more than any other potential Wardens might not have ever had before.
