Film after film: Medusa Deluxe (dir. Thomas Hardiman, 2022)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a bit a film about nothing, but it's extremely watchable. The plot is simple, it deflates weirdly and interestingly by its end: there's an art-hairdressing competition, and someone gets murdered. Everyone stays in the industrial building that the competition was to take place and waits, reacts to, and gets anxious about the murder. The film's main trick is that it pretends to be one continuous shot, which conditions the plot's development: there are three people in the room, someone leaves, the camera follows them until they get elsewhere, where there are other people, and so on. There are some beautiful performances here, especially from Perkins, who's the film's prickly heart. The ending can annoy, but I loved it.

Medusa Deluxe Review- A Murder Mystery Set At A Hairdressing Competion Doesn't Make You Pull Your Hair Out
A few years ago, there was a horror comedy based on women’s hair called Bad Hair. As in the hair was the killer in this film. I had no idea anybody could do such a thing. The latest film centered around women’s hair is called Medusa Deluxe. It’s from the BFI and A24, and they usually invest in good things. The story and most of the actors are entirely new, but there are things about this movie…

what are some good iranian films? i've seen persepolis and a girl walks home alone at night
This is such a vast question, because Iranian cinema is heterogenuous and huge.
From Ali Hatami to Khosrow Sinai (In the Alleys of Love) to Hajir Darioush (Serpent's Skin) to Abbas Kiarostami (Where Is the Friend's Home?) and Jafar Panahi (The Circle) to Asghar Farhadi (A Separation, The Salesman).
But seems like you are interested in works by women directors?
The House is Black (Directed by Forugh Farrokhzad who was also a poet)
Divorce Iranian Style (1998, Kim Longinotto & Ziba Mir-Hosseini)
Two Women (1999, Tahmineh Milani)

Can you maybe do GenKill Nate Fick x Reader? Where the reader and one of her buddies have been shot by blue on blue fire and she gets absolutely devastated when she hears that he is severely injured and needs casevac.
I apologize for my bad english. Its not my mothertongue.
This is the first request Ive ever done. I really love your page and absolutely adore your writing skills. But of course you don't have to do it if you dont like it. Just ignore it then :)
Honey it's no problem at all and don't worry about the English, English is mine and I'm having trouble learning Spanish and Portuguese as it is so I totally get it. And thank you as always, it's people like you guys that make me wanna write more (lol).
Tumblr media
It was supposed to be a simple mission......get in, fuck shit up and leave.
And then the shots rang out in the dark of the night.
You had no idea what the hell happened until something had jumped up and "bit" you, right below the ribs, choking the life out of you. You heard Sergeant Firya, one of the tribal soldiers in your unit, practically screaming for a medic and a pair of hands in fingerless kevlar gloves gripping you to help you stand up.
"Hey! Hey! Sergeant Fick! Sergeant Fick! Stay with me!"
It was a female voice, one of the female fighters in your unit and one of your other best friends, Aliyah Karimi. You felt her hoisting you up, seating you on a row of fallen bricks, tilting your head up against the wall as the lightheadedness began to set in.
"Sergeant Fick," Aliyah asked you, trying to keep calm. "What's ten times four?"
You could hardly hear her through your dulling senses, your head rolling from side to side against the bricks and your breath becoming ragged.
"Son of a bitch," Aliyah hissed under her breath as she hauled out her radio. "Two-one-Actual.....Two-one-Actual do you copy?!"
"Two-one-Actual, copy,"
"We have blue-on-blue fire in the area," Aliyah answered. "Two men down, med-evac and covering fire needed."
"We're on our way."
That was the last you were able to hear clearly until more shouts in Aliyah's mother tongue were heard. "Ali?" you asked, your voice growing hoarse and raspy.
"Hang on," Aliyah told you. "They're almost here."
Aliyah's older brothers, Daryan and Eylo, struck the heads of the flare signals, the red smoke lighting up the little area as the buzz of a Black Hawk was heard overhead. You were a shaking, stumbling mess as you and the other fighter were loaded into the Black Hawk. Daryan and Aliyah helped lay you down as Doc Bryan conversed briefly with Sergeant Firya. You felt a set of hands on you, familiar yet faint, before everything drifted into nothing.
**************
Balad Air Base Hospital
Your eyes slowly opened to the sight of the tan canvas walls and the feeling of a familiar hand on your left, brushing against the little gold band on your ring finger. You shivered from the cool air, despite the covers being drawn up to your chest, but through your blurred vision, you saw the one person you had hoped to see.
Your husband Nate.
"Hey," he whispered. "You awake?"
"Mmmhmm," you hummed weakly. "What happened?"
"Blue-on-blue," Nate answered. "You got hit and so didn't Private Ahmadi."
"Is he ok?" you asked, your voice still hoarse.
"He'll be ok," Nate assured you. "They're giving him a blood transfusion right now. You lost alot too."
You were glad that your partner would be ok, but even more grateful that your husband was here with you. "They sending us home?" you asked.
Nate nodded. "Tomorrow."
You drifted back to sleep with Nate beside you, relieved that now, you'd be going home.....the both of you.

Courts in Iran's capital have handed prison terms of up to 10 years to 400 people arrested at anti-government protests, a judiciary official says.
Tehran's prosecutor-general said 160 "rioters" were sentenced to between five and 10 years, 80 to between two and five years, and 160 to two years or less, the Mizan news agency reported.
Another 70 were fined, Ali Alqasimehr added, without providing any details.
It comes a day after authorities hanged a second man convicted over the unrest.
The judiciary announced on Monday morning that Majidreza Rahnavard, 23, had been executed in public in the north-eastern city of Mashhad.
A Revolutionary Court convicted him less than two weeks ago of the charge of "enmity against God" after finding he had stabbed to death two members of the paramilitary Basij Resistance Force.
Amnesty International said he was subjected to a sham trial and that the judiciary was "a tool of repression sending individuals to the gallows to spread fear and exacting revenge on protesters daring to stand up to the status quo".
Iran has been engulfed by protests against the country's clerical establishment for almost three months.
They erupted following the death in custody of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was detained by morality police in Tehran on 13 September for allegedly wearing her hijab, or headscarf, "improperly".
Authorities have portrayed the protests as foreign-backed "riots" and responded with lethal force.
So far, at least 490 protesters, including 68 children and 62 security personnel have been killed during the unrest, according to the Human Rights Activists' News Agency (HRANA).
It has also reported the arrest of more than 18,200 people in connection with the protests, of whom 3,780 have been identified.
Authorities have not revealed how many have been arrested nationwide.
However, judiciary officials announced in early November that 1,024 people had been charged in connection with the protests in Tehran. They said the suspects were accused of "acts of sabotage", including "assaulting or martyring security guards" and "setting fire to public property".
Last Thursday, authorities in Tehran executed a 23-year-old man convicted of "enmity against God" following what activists said was a grossly unfair trial. Mohsen Shekari was accused of stabbing and wounding a Basij member and blocking a street in the capital in September.
After Majidreza Rahnavard was hanged on Monday, Amnesty International said it had identified at least 20 other people at risk of execution.
According to the group, 11 individuals have been sentenced to death, three have undergone trials on capital charges and are either at risk of being sentenced to death or may have already been sentenced, and six may be awaiting or undergoing trial on capital charges.
The final category includes 26-year-old professional footballer Amir Reza Nasr Azadani, who a judiciary official in Isfahan province said on Sunday had been charged with "baghi", or "armed revolt".
Mr Nasr Azadani is accused of killing three security personnel in the city of Isfahan during protests on 16 November.
On Monday night, the global football players' union FIFPRO said it was "shocked and sickened" that he was facing a possible death sentence "after campaigning for women's rights and basic freedom in his country".
Prominent former Iran national team player Ali Karimi, who has backed the protests, tweeted: "Do no execute Amir."
Another former member of the national team, Voria Ghafouri, was arrested last month but was later released on bail.

A cena causou comoção online.
