Quck thing. I'm not very good with this kind of art style, but I've tried a lil something...
Loved Akira Toryama's work and Dragon Ball was one of my faves as kid...

Dragon Ball Z was something my friends in elementary school were always into. An old friend showed me some of the Saiyan Saga at my house, but I didn't really understand it then. Dragon Ball Z was always sort of there in the edges, something I hear about but not really get into.
I didn't really get it until Nicktoons started showing Dragon Ball Z Kai. I told my old friend about it, I was curious about seeing it, and then when I did...
History. Dragon Ball Z wasn't something abstract anymore. I got it. The first episode showed Bardock's final assault on Frieza, detailed Goku's origins from the OG Dragon Ball, and tied them to the present through Raditz's arrival. I was scared when Raditz beat Goku, pumped when Goku and Piccolo teamed up to save Gohan, shocked when Goku wound up DYING and there were TWO MORE SAIYANS on their way to destroy the heroes?
I was hooked. I read and saw the OG DB, GT and when Super came on I watched that too. Then it turns out the author and artist, Akira Toriyama, wasn't just Dragon Ball. His artwork was used for Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, he did a whole ass manga called Dr. Slump before Dragon Ball, AND a whole bunch of anime I knew about like Naruto and One Piece were inspired by his work. Toriyama didn't seem like just a guy anymore, he was something of a god that shaped the world to his whims.
Okay that was an exaggeration. Or is it? You be the judge.
Sometimes, I wonder if bringing back Dragon Ball in the 2010s was a good thing. Toriyama, by all accounts, seeemed pretty happy with retirement. I don't know if helping out on a whole bunch of projects while mentoring Toyotaro was something he wanted to do in his old age. I don't know if that's just me project either. Who knows what went on in his head?
Toriyama was inspirational and influential. I wish his family and his colleagues the best. I can't imagine what it must be like to work with him, only to find out the next morning that he was just gone. To see so many people come out to leave hearts for him shows he made the world just a bit brighter through his work. That's something we should all aspire to do.
R.I.P. Akira Toryama.

r.i.p a creative genius
It is a sad that the creator of dragonball and dragonball z has passed. Akira Toriyama passed away at only 68 years of age. He was a genius creativity and a great artist. I know some will argue how much he may have come out with verus other people's ideas but he still was a huge success regardless. R.I.P Akira Toryama.
A sad day to find out what happened to a talent.
