Remembering The 2023 AVD Party
youtube
Months of work for one end-of-year extravaganza: The Afrofuturist Vampire Dance Party!
Last December we celebrated the culmination of 4 years of indie film production to create “Willow: State of Emergency.” It’s from the world of Paul A. Notice II's 2013 play, “Willow.” Watch it now on Amazon Prime!
The AVD Party also helped raise funds for our highly-anticipated Afrofuturist Multiverse series, “Willow: House of Griots.”

Ya'll made Our 1st Afrofuturist Vampire Dance Party a HIT!
Thank you so much for coming out to the Afrofuturist Vampire Dance Party! This was one of the largest and most fantastic turnouts for our “Willow” events this year - and that is because of your presence and vibes!
Feel free to share the photos from the event here, on social media - just be sure to tag @willowhorror and @thenoticeblog wherever you post!
We’re currently in gearing up to produce the 1-hour pilot episode of “Willow: House of Griots” next year, so please consider supporting our journey for the holiday season here.
Finally, if you haven’t already, please check out our film “Willow: State of Emergency” on Amazon Prime. P.S. It’s mad brick out here! And if you’re anything like me - ashiness is just one step out the door. So, if you want to keep your skin moisturized without any harmful chemicals/additives, and support a good cause - try our CBD Mango Shea Butter, “Black Thoughts.” Ten Percent (10%) goes to the United Negro College Fund and the Movement for Black Lives, while the rest goes to supporting my nonprofit production company, The Notice Blog.

Thank you to all of our "Willow" Supporters!
Let's take the time out for gratitude: Thanks to our supporters' contributions over the last three years, we were able to produce "Willow: State of Emergency,” which premiered at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, won the Best Short Film Award at Chicago's Black Film Fest, and screened on Juneteenth weekend at the Black-Owned Stuart Cinema Theater.
That continued support also enabled us to develop a TV series “Willow: House of Griots” that expands upon the film, and to host a stage reading of episodes 1-4 at Here Performing Arts Center.
And now, as we're fundraising to produce the one-hour pilot episode of "House of Griots," I can't help but feel incredibly grateful.
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. This has been a tremendous journey, and I'm ecstatic to not only be at the helm of a talented and dedicated production team, but to also be a part of a community of supporters of the work itself.
If you'd like to join our community of supporters, follow the link in the photo, or just come to our inaugural Afrofuturist Vampire Dance Party, Dec 8th, 8:30pm at First Live (219 Central Ave., BK).
More announcements coming soon!
- Paul A. Notice II
Side note: "Willow" is part of the "Willow" program of The Notice Foundation, which is meant to not only create narrative fiction from the perspective of Black, Indigenous, POC, Womanist, and Queer perspectives; but to employ professionals from our communities in making them. Contributions to our fundraising campaigns are tax-deductible according to IRS Tax Code via Fiscal Sponsorship of The Notice Foundation.

The Invitation
Nearly every day this week, I've whisked by the library to print out the free 20 pages offered for each day. Then I'd take the flyers I've cut from them, visit a new coffee shop in the neighborhood, and leave them amongst the others.
I've always seen flyers like this: black & white, hand cut, no gloss. These are moments of homegrown "3rd Places," offering an invitation to YOU. Whoever you are.
I've grown a fondness for it. Unlearned the capitalist urge for dressings that bleed my pocket. And focus on what really matters. Us. Community.
So, when the time came to spread the word about our fundraiser party for the "Willow: House of Griots" TV series, I found myself here: extending my own personal invitation to a 3rd Place. For the community steadily growing around this show, and the ideas it espouses.
Come through. Join our community, and help us get our stories out there.
- Paul N.
