Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
The sturgeon's name is quite appropriate; it loosely translates to 'stirrer'. These species have poor eyesight, and instead find food by feeling through the mud with their sensitive snouts and whisker-like barbels.

The beluga (/bəˈluːɡə/), also known as the beluga sturgeon or great sturgeon (Huso huso), is a species of anadromous fish in the sturgeon family (Acipenseridae) of order Acipenseriformes. It is found primarily in the Caspian and Black Sea basins, and formerly in the Adriatic Sea. Based on maximum size, it is the third-most-massive living species of bony fish.[6] Heavily fished for the female's valuable roe, known as beluga caviar, wild populations have been greatly reduced by overfishing and poaching, leading IUCN to classify the species as critically endangered.

May I receive a sturgeon in these trying times? Any sturgeon!
African Sturgeon
If you know anything about Acipenseriformes you might be thinking, “but sturgeonposting, there ARE no sturgeons in Africa!” And you would be right — if you only counted live sturgeon. In November of 2022, however, David Martill discovered a fossilized sturgeon scute at a well known dig site in Morocco. Martill, a professor of paleobiology at the University of Portsmouth, recognized the fossil as that of a sturgeon immediately. The fossil is currently believed to be from the Upper Cretaceous period. This is a groundbreaking discovery on the front of sturgeon evolution as it suggests that they once swam in the waters around supercontinent Gondwana, of which Africa was a part — waters that were, until last year, considered too warm to support a sturgeon population.

What Is The Difference Between Caviar And Fish Eggs?
Are you one of those who believe caviar and fish eggs are the same? Well, if you do, you are not alone. Caviar is an exquisite luxury - perhaps one of the most expensive foods worldwide- from sturgeon, a fish species on earth for more than 250 million years.
Caviar and roe are two terms that refer to fish eggs. Many restaurants take advantage of this confusion and label any fish roe as caviar. But do not let the trick fool you! There is a slight difference between caviar and roe - Caviar comes only from the sturgeon roe.
What is fish roe?
Also known as sturgeon roe, fish roe is female fish eggs from various fish, including trout, mackerel, and salmon. In recent years, fish roe has grown in popularity because of nourishing nutrients, such as Vitamin D and B12, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids - to name a couple. These female fish eggs are also used abundantly in flavorful recipes.
Fish roe is undoubtedly an affordable alternative to caviar for those who wish to incorporate it into their diet without spending many dollars. Generally, fish roe is marked with accurate information, including where the roe was harvested and fish species.
What is Caviar?
Caviar is a heavenly treat you will not find on top of your sushi in a random restaurant. While fish roe comes from any species of fish in the ocean, caviar exclusively comes from sturgeon. True caviar is sturgeon fish eggs delicately salted and prepared with the Malossol method, which means little salt in Russia.
What is a sturgeon?
Sturgeon is a common name for fishes, including beluga sturgeon and sevruga sturgeon, belonging to the Acipenseridae family. Researchers found the existence of sturgeon dates back to when dinosaurs ruled the planet earth. These species can live up to 100 years and grow over 1,000 pounds.
They are mainly found in the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea, the South Atlantic regions of N.America, large European rivers and lakes, and parts of the Pacific Northwest. Due to overharvesting, 18 out of 27 species of sturgeon are now listed as endangered.
Key takeaway-
In the market, you will find a variety of caviar. While some are priced better than others, others taste better than the rest. The choice is solely based on one's preference. Like salmon roe, people look for Salmon Roe caviar for sale because it is one of the world's most popular and traditional caviars.

Getting The Finest Caviar In Hong Kong Is Easy – Find The Best Online
Nations encompassing the Caspian Ocean have, now and again, put limitations on anglers to permit the fish to recharge their numbers and guarantee there will be a lot of them to go around. In the nineteenth century, Sturgeon was viewed as in bountiful stock in the US.
Tumblr media
The Hudson and Delaware streams were delivering the scrumptious treat as well as Oregon's Columbia Waterway and soon besides the fact that the cost plunged yet caviar was some of the time served rather than peanuts as a bar food (pungent fish eggs implied serious drinking). In 1900 the biggest maker of caviar was the US with well north of 600 tons being delivered every year.
Persian for egg caviar comes from different fishes
Regularly found and enjoyed as a delicacy, caviar or fish eggs can be tracked down in a wide assortment of varieties and sizes. Normal and reasonable, a few types of fish can be farmed for The Finest Caviar in Hong Kong. Salmon produces a brilliant yellow to pinkish egg that is exquisite to check out however has fewer flavors than the Sturgeon.
Boycotts have been put on fishing financially for Sturgeon since provisions dwindled. At the point when caviar was in the low stockpile, the cost would normally take off which prompted the advancement of additional practical strategies for acquiring the significant fish, for example, hydroponics to "become your own" or cultivating the Sturgeon.
Today Russian caviar creation is an enormous business around the world
How could salt-relieved fish eggs become such an uncommon and well-known delicacy? Throughout the long term, the prevalence of caviar has developed and whether they come from the Acipenseridae group of fish or other more regularly found species, for example, Salmon, they stay sought after.
Less attractive (and less expensive) is roe that has been purified because the cycle removes a large part of the flavor typically seen as in "new" or non-sanitized assortments. Spread some on a fine wafer and partake in the delicacy known as farmed caviar.
