i read Stag Beetles and Broken Legs in a daze last night and came out the other side with this playlist that hits me in so many different ways ;_;
It's an extremely interesting fanfic with an interesting plot, stellar character work, and the audacity to make me laugh OUT LOUD more than twice, which deems it in my own personal Hall of Fame. it's a story i can find myself rereading again and again, looking for little details missed the first time through, and the second, and the third. It's just... wow! Thanks go to Aryashi and lost-kinn for such a read!
This dude flew by while I was replanting something and seemed very interested in the green. I’m guessing it’s a Kern’s flower scarab? Their genus name is Euphoria! Feels like good luck! (The good luck is seeing a beetle)
What’s that I hear, in the depths of the forest, barreling towards us
That’s right it’s another movie recc
This time: The boat that rocked (or Pirate radio, goes by either name)
Ok so this was pretty damn good, a bit more indie feel to it then the other recs I’ve given, it didn’t have a plot A to B, more so you just kinda followed the characters and their relations with each other, it’s real fun. It’s placed in the 60’s and after I finished watching it I like binged beetles songs for like 14hrs straight. Also, Midnight Mark gives me gender envy.
But yea it’s about this kid, Carl, who gets sent to pirate radio (a radio show boat) by his mom, basically it’s a rock radio and England’s trying to shut it down (historically true story) and it’s got some real good emotional beats, I legit cried at the end, and I super highly recommend it!!
cheating with a top 3 here but uhhh hissing cockroaches (hard 'being the chillest roommates for the past few years' bias), blue death feigning beetles (very touchable looking, trustworthy faces, Fucked strong and long-lived as insects go) and weevils especially these 'god i wish that were me' looking guys
