When talking about MCD, which I was middle school when it was first coming out. (Man that feels like fuckin forever ago) I always felt like it was a gimmick added to her modded playthrough that grew out of hand. I mean rewatch those first episodes. Jess is talking to the audience 95% of the time. This I think, is all the explanation needed to mostly wave off the writing. It's unfortunate, but inexperienced writers can definitely get tunnel vision on certain characters, especially if one of them is your own self-insert. Aphmau suffers from also being the audience, so if Jess ever wants to surprise us. Aphmau has to either be ignorant or it has to happen off-screen. This is the major issue with A and A's build up there. Jess wanted a plot twist. Unfortunately she's also the main character.

This is actually the main problem with most of MCD. It's Aphmau centric, we don't see anything (or at least very little) that doesn’t happen to her, so we are absent from private moments with just Garroth, or Laurance when he's in his natural (not in the presence of and therefore pining after Aphmau) state. People, REAL people are more then how they act around one person.

This is kinda fixed in Mystreet. Aphmau is still the main character, but we can break off and explore other characters because we're not glued to her camera anymore. And it really helps.

So what am I trying to say? MCD desperately needs a rewrite where we are unglued from Aphmau and can explore the internal thoughts of other characters. Not to say she shouldn't be the main character (She's fucking GOD.) But we should be seeing how the guard trio interact without her. See from Katelyn's perspective why exactly she switched sides, what Zane's plan was when going into the Irene Dimension (like mate what the fuck was the plan? You already had a relic.) This would fix a good portion of the pacing and plot issues.

Whatever, I'm just screaming into the void my internal thoughts anyway...

Brendan two timed Nana and Lucinda, helped her out only because he had interest in getting with her and dating her, and only started working at the beach so he can see her in a bathing suit, he objectified her and was a creep.

Meanwhile Dante canonically hasn’t been on a date since Highschool most likely since Nana, genuinely enjoyed spending time with Nana, comforted her after seeing her cry and offered to help her rebuild the house after it burned down, even offering her a place to stay, in love love paradise he was eating brunch with her and Lucinda and just hanging out as friends, helped her set decorations up, without the intent of wanting to date her or objectifying her, he just enjoyed spending time with her cause he genuinely liked her as a person. :)

After Aaron died, she almost completely shut down, understandably so. But after like a few episodes, she was kinda back to normal (still very much grieving tho) and I think that sucks.

Show me a broken lord that has lost someone so dear to them. For the first time, there is no "rescue", no "we'll find a way." He is dead and gone, and she couldn't stop it.

Show me an empty warrior who can't enjoy the peaceful present because he's not there. Garroth is, and he is a constant reminder of what happened. It's not his fault, no, but she can't bear to look at him and see someone else.

Show me Irene, who once again has gone numb. But this time, her lord of shadows was not unfairly persecuted. He surrendered himself, and somehow, that's worse.

But Aphmau is not Irene. And this time, she can pick herself back up. Little by little, piece by piece.

Something I just realized about canon Aarmau is that it would've made more sense in ✨the lore✨tm if mermaid tales and Royal tale were canon to the mystreet/MCD universe, therefore cementing them as a reincarnation cycle rather than whatevez is going on in canon.

I like to imagine Aaron and Aphmau danced on the beach the night of Kenmur and Emmalyn’s wedding. Maybe at that point they weren’t dancing in any romantic light, just finding comfort in each other as two people yearning for far off lovers. Aphmau was all dressed up, it would be a waste to end the night without a dance. The two of them swayed around the doc quietly, cracking jokes at each other every so often because they didn’t have the time to learn how to dance while fulfilling the duties of lords. Aaron walked Aphmau back to the guard’s treehouse and went on his way.

They didn’t acknowledge it the next day, or ever again actually. It was a moment of vulnerability the lords did not have such a luxury to share. But it did create a certain warmth between the two of them that lingered in all of their conversations, odd quests, and adventures together. At some point, that warmth sparked into adoration, even love.

Like to think that Aph and Aaron would be like really close family friends (cool aunt and uncle who visit type vibe), and sometimes would pop in!! Especially if extra help was needed with taking care of Chris n stuff. Aphmau definitely met the Thorndykes first and got close with them before Aaron started knowing them by proxy

They prolly woulda been super chill with Chris' parents but would start kinda getting iffy when seeing the neglect they do first hand (Aaron definitely doesn't like them cause he knows what being neglected by your rich parents is like 💀)
