It's been years and I'm still kind of mad that for the Venice scenes in Spider-Man Far From Home they used three Italian songs and none of them were "Hanno Ucciso l'Uomo Ragno" by 883 (title means "They killed Spider-Man", it's a 90s pop song)

every time i listen to an italian song from the '80s or from the '90s i find myself thinking how weird the lyrics must sound if translated into english, and that's how my new useless project was born: i'm gonna share some vintage italian songs translated into english so that you also get a glimpse of these JEWELS we have grown up with

and i'll start today with a song that 99.99999% of italians aged 25 to 45 know BY HEART and that is capable of making the roof fall if the room is at high concentration of millennials: HANNO UCCISO L'UOMO RAGNO (they killed spider man)

not only the song is a jewel, like most songs by 883 and max pezzali, but here also the video: it is a scene from the incredibly trash movie starring max pezzali, the lead singer of the back-then duo 883 who released this song, and IF YOU'RE ITALIAN AND DID NOT SEE THIS MOVIE STOP READING AND GO TO WATCH IT

here please note that the guy with the black shirt and the white tie is another pillar of the '90s music culture, lorenzo jovanotti, and i almost jumped on the chair when i saw he was in the movie

and now to the text - i did my best to convey the message but there's that special component of being an anguished teen or a kid in the 90s that gives it that extra push into your consciousness

usual scary night in the bronx in the club they're playing a blues by the stones shady individuals at the bar counter full of whiskey and margaritas all of a sudden the door slams the one-eyes man rushes in with the news a sure tip: there are whispers that the cannons have gone bang they killed spider man, who was it is not known maybe those from the mob, maybe the commercials they killed spider man, it's not even known why he must have done some wrong to the coffee industry (i think this sentence is one of the most famous unresolved mysteries in italian history) at the police station the chief says "it's nothing big, what happened will not stop us, crime will not win!" but in the streets there is panic now, nobody leaves their home, nobody wants trouble and to the calls for calm on tv nobody believes anymore (...) down in the streets you see gangs of accountants in double-breasted suits full of stress "if i don't sell you, you will sell me, for a hundred lire or little more" vogue faces are myths to us too handsome actors are the only heroes he, instead, yes he was a star but he won't come back anyway

While I do understand why so many people love I'm Still Here from Treasure Planet, I did listen to it but it has not the vibes of the italian version of the song (It's called "Ci sono anch'io", you can translate it with "I am here too").

I love the contrast between the two refrains. Their translation is this one (pardon if the translation is bad, as I said I am italian).

First refrain:
