I would really recommend, esp if you are distant from Israel/Palestine (physically and/or emotionally), that you watch 5 Broken Cameras. It represents a fraction of what Palestinian life is like on average (it is ~5 years of life in the West Bank 2005-2010), but it's a good start if you are struggling to fathom the horror.

Fighting the urge to act like this at work now that I've been offered a grad position at the hospital

#i finally get to leave!!! #i straight up told a co-worker yesterday if there's anything she doesn't feel comfortable doing/goes against managers rules #to just grab me and I'll do it because what are they gonna do. fire me? #if they think im stealing money they can just check the cameras #like a self checkout wouldn't accept a customers note but we aren't allowed to open the registers and swap them out for a straighter note #and she asked me for help because she wasn't sure what to do #and i just said fuck em and swapped the note #because 1. its a stupid rule 2. im not getting yelled at over something i can easily do #same with accepting ripped notes. its still money and if the fucking cash people don't want to accept it thats their problem #another co-worker copped it from a customer because she ran out of notes and had to give her $5 change in coins (3 coins total) #and the managers take forever to respond when we ask for help and I've just had enough #ive always broken these rules but now im just volunteering to do it for others too lol #personal

When you suddenly realize your polarization filter for your camera lens is just straight up broken

#never saw it break idk how long it’s been broken without me knowing #just looked and it was all cracked up with pieces fallen out of it #thing is it doesn’t show at all in the photos #maybe I’ll be able to see it on computer but I hope not bc I got some things in excited about today #it probably would come across if I shot at a higher aperture but I typically shoot at f 5-6 so you really can’t see it #but it might let in light differently which I haven’t noticed bc it’s been pretty overcast for the most part today #I spent 80 dollars getting a new one express shipped to me and I’m manifesting it getting to me by morning so I have it for tomorrows shoot #and the local camera store is closed on sundays so I can’t stop there before my shoot if it doesn’t arrive on time #at first I thought it was damage to the lens itself which would not have been way worse #which would be much more expensive to remedy #especially given that it’s my 600 mm lens which I would not be able to easily replace #I got mine for 600 which was a very good price chances are I’d have to pay much more
