its not that I dislike 90s Rei cus she's "not like her manga counterpart at all." i dislike 90s Rei cus shes rude and catty, even worse so in the DiC dub too. If Manga Rei had that persinality (she does kinda get it later) I'd still dislike her cus I hate these kind of characters.

Manga Rei is just harder to like as well but for a different reason: shes supposedly hard to read, which can make a character hard to like relate to or at least just Like. but that's an issue cus she doesn't have enough screentime to determine who she is as a character.

sometimes my dislike for the 90s is not cus "its not like the manga at all!" sometimes its deeper like,, the characterization and writing sucks ass sometimes.

#she can be rude sometimes but shes rude 90% of the dMn series and targets usagi specifically cus the writers think usagi crying is funny #i cant remember where but i remember someone say manga rei is a kuudere while 90s is a tsundere and like #nah kuudere shit is more Hotaru #also I hate Deres as a concept they feel very one dimensional for describing certain characters #aka any girl character in Evangelion fsivnreg #like calling asuka a tsundere does nothing to describe her character or her arc #anyway 90s rei however is so mean esp early on she is by definition a tsundere cus they got nothing goin for them exdept their cattiness #like i get it they went with it cus Aries with an AB bloodtype would basically be a catty hothead but like #idk they couldve toned it down way sooner i feel they only did it bg ssason 4 cus #1) she no longer had the screentime reallg #2) SuperS focused on ChibiUsa than Usagi and even then Chibs kinda replaces Rei on the bullying part #3) Seiya then replaces both Mamoru #Chibs and Rei when it comes to bullying Usagi #toei really can only write One Character huh #like they really just had Usagi get bullied a lot cus for 200 eps they thought her feelings getting hurt is comedy #the materials collection again gives us her zodiac and bloodtype to help determine her personality but thats not enough its still vague #but that's not enough cus those 2 pseudo science things are broad and vague for a reason #and can still point to 90s Rei's personality which i dont want #plus the materials collection kinda describes the girls persinalities as basicallg theyre so pretty youll love them #which like your attractiveness is not a personality! #and i know crystal cut some panels out for Rei in S1 but those small scenes she was catty and rude #and then shes just never like that ever again until she and Minako have their moments later on #like i think Crystal also wanted to avoid the extreme rudeness but at the detriment of cutting Reis scenes out entirely #losing her screentime she alreadh had very little of #Ah you know how Naoko has issue writing Michiru cus her personality is something she wasn't familiar with? #Yea thats me with Rei cus what I have in mind for Rei is Basically Michiru 2.0 #prim proper rich girl kinda thing but I do actually like Michiru cus of that and I don't wanna take from her #manga rei also wouldnt be a himedere miss ohohoho
