Iris and Kiera - Nap
Doing twelve write-ups a day was a strain on Iris' tolerance for language, as well as her wrist. She set the pen down over a half-finished draft for the parents of a girl who, like her, was diagnosed with verbal apraxia because of a tumor. The girl's parents were showing the early signs of trying to 'discipline' the words out of her, something Iris felt so compelled to intervene on she'd taken her work home with her.
Of course, the entire other person nuzzling her was a persistent distraction.
Kiera was sat behind Iris, arms wrapped around her and pressed flush against her back. When she'd gotten home, her sister had been in a particularly affectionate mood, so they pulled up one of the big recliners as Iris got to work.
"Almost done?" Kiera asked.
Iris sighed and set her pen and clipboard down, nodding.
"Great!" Kiera said, pulling Iris back and laying them both against the recliner. "Your hours at work are getting longer."
Iris smiled and bounced her eyebrows.
"Still, that can't be good for you," Kiera said. "I know you don't actually like the whiteboard or sign language."
Iris shrugged, then arched a brow at her sister.
"Okay, I guess I'm just not used to not having the majority of your time," Kiera sighed, pressing a finger to Iris' nose.
Iris silently giggled.
"Larisa's right, I am a simp."
Iris patted her cheek.
"Can't help it. My big sister's so cool. Bigshot child psychologist, lobbyist, has a law named after her," Kiera beamed. "Who wouldn't want to sing your praises?"
Iris arched a brow.
"They're just bitchy they had to give more funding to mental health," Kiera scoffed. "Pissing them off is the virtue."
Iris nodded.
Kiera reached up and laid a hand on Iris' cheek. "I mean it. I'm proud of you."
Iris smiled and nuzzled Kiera's hand.
After a moment, Kiera pulled away and sat up. "Hey, remember Caliga Lake?"
Iris sat up as well. She did remember that, in fact. Caliga Lake was a lake so large it had it's own beach. The only time they'd ever gone there was when they were nine and ten. Kiera, still learning to swim, had run afoul of some older children who threw her off the dock and into the water. She'd have been a goner if Iris hadn't dove in to get her.
She nodded and tilted her head, and Kiera wrapped her arms around her shoulders and pulled her in close, pressing their foreheads together.
"Just thinking about how lucky I am."
Iris smiled and kissed Kiera's forehead, before slumping against her with a content exhale.
"You look tired." Kiera gave her a gentle squeeze. "Wanna take a nap?"
Iris nodded, and Kiera laid them both back against the recliner. Iris curled up in her sister's arms and laid her head against her shoulder, the weariness of so many patients and so many reports making her entire body feel like it was made of lead.
Kiera ran her fingers through Iris' hair and watched her drift off to sleep. Soon enough, the desire for a good nap overtook her as well and the two were softly dozing. An hour later, Larisa would find them and drape a blanket over them. And despite their intention to only take a short nap, they would wake up at five in the morning.

I will lose the keys of yesterday... I will forget all my empty sorrows. I will dissolve in silence, do not look for me, I want to get lost in the fog of silence I want to wander in the mists of silence. Sometimes you find all the things you wanted You see the fallacy of past desires...

The history of gymnastics as I would tell it... Part 1 Ground Breakers
Having watched the BBC’s Faster, Higher, Stronger history of Olympic gymnastics I have been thinking about how I would tell the history of the sport differently.  I’m going to assume for the moment that this is a documentary series rather than a single hour long episode of something larger.
Starting with Larisa Latynina I think makes a great deal of sense.  I think you probably just avoid using pictures of either gymnastics as outdoor activity or group portable apparatus routines.  They look alien to a modern viewer and it’s just not really possible to briefly show them without making them look silly or to diminish the women who did the sport before 1956.
I would start the narrative with the USSR’s return to international sporting competition for the first time since the revolution and Latynina as a way to communicate the sport as a distinct combination of dance and physicality.  Not too different than the BBC framed her.  But I think I would perhaps emphasize her as an adult woman and touch on competing in the 1958 World Championships while pregnant.
The next figure I would go to is Věra Čáslavská to talk about her raising the bar for both acrobatic difficulty and performance.  I think you really get a lot of sense of her by watching her Mexican hat dance routine and I think you do tell the Olympic protest story because it’s so important to the character of the sport but perhaps add Larisa Petrik to the story about how Čáslavská and many in the media believed Petrik’s scores had been raised improperly but in fact it was a mistake of the organizers in publishing the scores.  (As an aside, no one has edited Petrik’s wikipedia since it’s come to be known that her scores weren’t raised to give her a gold improperly which makes me sad for her...)
One of the things I really liked from the BBC documentary is Čáslavská saying that she carried around a picture of Latynina and would talk to it saying that she would get her one day.  I think that’s a great way to introduce that these are athletes and they want to win.  I think there is far too much narrative about gymnasts being slightly clueless.  Give them agency in their own stories.
I think after you tell the story of how Čáslavská suffered after her return from Mexico City you then move into the story of Erika Zuchold and Karin Janz as successors to Čáslavská’s pushing of difficulty and progression in the sport in contrast to Ludmilla Tourisheva’s more traditional grace and precision.  Maybe even talk about the first modern 10s that happen at Europeans in this period.  The scores at Montreal don’t come out of the clear blue sky.  I would personally tell Munich as Tourischeva fighting off the duel challenges of Korbut and Janz (with flavor of how important Janz and her teammates successes in the Olympiahalle of Munich were in light of the Hallstein Doctrine and 17 years of the West Germans threatening to end diplomatic relations with any country that recognized East Germany as a state to include recognition of it’s athletes).
I think after Munich you move into a story of young girls but you don’t make it a Karolyi innovation but instead also talk about the Soviet move towards younger woman and that it was driven by a desire to control the athletes which is made much easier when you are dealing with children rather than adult women.  I would then tell the story of Nadia’s 10s in Montreal as simple and clean technique versus Nellie Kim as the figure pushing difficulty.  I might even frame Kim sympathetically about how she was lost in the shadow of the world media frenzy about Nadia.  Another way to handle the Montreal period would be to contrast Nadia with the other members of the Romanian team talking about how they were being starved and beaten by Bela Karolyi to show that the beauty and perfection of the sport could be used to hide monsters.
But here I think it’s important not to tell gymnastics history as an Olympic to Olympic moment because I think you need to talk about how people turned on Nadia as soon as she started to mature.  I really think the literal Sports Illustrated story that amounts to “Nadia has breasts!” really carries with it how it wasn’t just the sport that demanded younger bodies but a world wide obsession that saw the sport that way (despite that there had always been more mature women in the sport even during this period).
I think you then tell the story of 1980 as the downfall of Karolyi in Romania.  I hate centering him but I think you need to establish that Moscow is not a story of Soviet corruption but that Romania was an extremely repressive regime that the west had embraced in the name of cold war politics.  If I was telling the story of the gymnastics at those games I think I would contrast Nadia past her prime with Elena Davydova, Maxi Gnauck and Natalia Shaposhnikova as the next generation of athletes progressing the sport.  The nerd in me wants to talk about how tumbling became more complex when the floor gets springs and the routines become in some ways more relatable when the sport moves to orchestrated music rather than a live piano.
I’ll have to think how I would tell the next part...

Day 23 No Contact.
It's been 23 days since I saw him last and 22 since I exchanged a single word with him. You might be asking why keep count. This is something I have done before and it usually ends with me caving in after about a month. Recently I went over a month without seeing him and caved in right before the one-month mark hit. I have tried this detox before but this time I don't want to see him becuase I don't want to act like everything is fine. Sure I may still have the testing mentality to see if he even " cares", but it's not as intense. I am still struggling with the semi-intense desire to confront him. As you know I pace my room, fantasize in the shower, and dream before I go to bed about the conversation I want to have with him. I want to tear him and his ego apart and stomp all over it, but in a less crazy angry way. I want to have that conversation and then never talk to him again. I am tired of letting him do whatever he wants and then forcing me to act like everything is cool. Well, obviously this is the mentality I have let consume me and it's not that deep. The more I go to therapy the more I can emotionally distance myself from the whole situation, becuase I know it's really not about Spencer. This is about my identity and sexuality crisis mixed in with my severe daddy issues. Bro I actually might not be attracted to men. This is so freeing to me becuase I no longer feel this desperation to find someone. I can acknowledge that I have no idea who I am or what I want and it's okay to take the time to figure that out. There is still pain attached to that situation but I will work through that. If I could go back in time to Sophie last year I would tell her to talk to Spencer right away about how I felt. Tell him right away that he was playing games with me and it was affecting my relationship with Larisa. Sophie last year around this time was going through hell due to his lack of presence. Last year around this time I got black out drunk and ate a girl out to grieve him not being there. I would also tell her that taking time to truly get to know yourself ( not while being high) is the only way to truly move on. It sucks that I still think about him. It really does. but I am one step closer to finding actual peace within myself. Don't think about the next time you'll see him. Youll cross that bridge when you get there.

We immersed ourselves in a realm of delicacy and subtleties. Guided by attention to detail and harmony, our challenge was to weave a narrative radiating intimacy, tranquility, and the essence of personal care.
Our journey began by exploring a link to the desired emotions — Intimacy and Tranquility, Natural Elements, Soft Light, Organic Elements, and Texture Play.
By intentionally blurring foreground elements, we recreated the feeling of intimacy, transporting us to a secret world. The lighting's mood added warmth and authenticity, with a soft, suggestive quality enhancing comfort and serenity.
Our envisioned images softly share secrets, evoking privacy, and emphasizing the product's gentle, feminine aspects. A visual tale unfolds — a harmonious symphony of elements and bubbles. AOUD—A whispered story.

3. Johanna from Rooted By Design
As an architect and interior designer, Johanna founded Rooted By Design and has a knack for crushing the competition. She has over eight years of experience and always makes sure her clients can easily receive what they want from their homes.
Johanna is an eco-friendly interior designer, in contrast to many others in Philadelphia. She is passionate about environmental issues. She is aware, however, that her customers want their interior design to stay relatively current. She so consistently strikes a lovely mix between designing eco-friendly spaces and cutting-edge décor.
4. Michelle Wentisky Interior Design
With more than 20 years of experience in the field, you can be sure that working with this amazing Philadelphia interior designer will be a delightful experience. The styles possessed by Michelle and her crew are diverse. They are aware that some of their clientele have similar hobbies, inclinations, and aesthetic preferences. 5. Susan Hopkins from Onyx Ivory

6. Glenna Stone Interior Design
Glenna Stone, the creator of Glenna Stone Interior Design Studio, is a creative soul and a complete maverick who understands what the city of Philadelphia wants. There’s an appreciation for history and more conventional interior design techniques, just like in many other large New England communities. She does precisely that!
Her work has a nice twist of modernism while paying homage to tradition — the classics. One of Glenna’s main inspirations is her mother, who also happens to be an artist. So, visit Glenna if you require that ideal setting!
7. Nile Johnson Interior Design
There are lots of African American artists in Philadelphia. The Black Artist + Designers Guild is quite active in this city, as you will discover. What’s even better is that the Guild’s House Beautiful advisory board member is one of Philadelphia’s top interior designers. The creator of his upscale interior design company is Mr. Nile Johnson. You’ll appreciate that he is an artist who enjoys giving the areas he works with a more opulent feel.
Being able to appear on HGTV has allowed him to attract influencers, big-name celebrities, and CEOs of large corporations. You will be astounded by Nile’s body of work. He doesn’t mind experimenting with color and texture, matching oddball combinations to get surreal looks.
8. Ashli Mizell
With her work frequently featured in one of Philadelphia’s most well-known magazines, Ashli is a major favorite in the community’s art scene. Her art history coursework from college is evident in her creations. Without a doubt, anyone could fall in love with her work with ease. She undoubtedly has a great sense of style and an excellent eye for detail, and she’s constantly trying to improve.
It’s evident from her earlier work that she enjoys adhering to particular aesthetics. That is precisely what she is always aiming for, beautiful spaces. Thus, you’ll see combinations of feminine and masculine elements, such as lace and leather. Each customer will receive something exquisitely crafted just for them in addition to a variety of textures,
9. Michele Plachter Design
Within the interior design community, Michele is highly regarded and appreciated for her abilities as a specialist in design for opulent residences. Numerous magazines and other publications have published a lot of her artwork.
She loves to update these historic interiors while maintaining their traditional feel, just like she does with many of the stunning traditional homes in Philadelphia. Although her primary clientele is residential, she frequently collaborates with real estate brokers or other businesses to provide assistance with home staging, restorations, and other related services.
10. Michael Shannon Designs
Michael Shannon Designs has been winning hearts with his flawless work for more than three hundred clients and more than two decades. You may rely on Michael to take on a diverse clientele, ranging from small residential properties to large non-profit institutions.
Michael is aware that a space may not always be as it seems. Nevertheless, Michael has more than enough skills to make even the smallest area appear fantastic because Philadelphia is a very little city. What then is Michael and the team’s signature look? You’ll discover that it’s quite creative, nevertheless. Customers keep coming back for more because of the inventive décor, distinctive designs, and textures.

Someone treating Larisa with physical delicacy would likely make her break down in tears. It doesn’t even have to be anything more than a head pat or holding onto her hand. The fact that someone was willing to even touch her while knowing that any contact would hurt them (ft. a wound that is visibly bleeding) would move her to pieces.

Aleksandr Kaidanovsky in Stalker (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1979) Cast: Aleksandr Kaidanovsky, Anatoliy Solonitsyn, Nikolay Grinko, Alisa Freindlich, Natasha Abramova, Fame Jurno, E. Kostin, Raymo Rendi. Screenplay: Arkadiy Strugatskiy, Boris Strugatskiy, based on their novel. Cinematography: Aleksandr Knyazhinskiy, Georgi Rerberg. Production design: Aleksandr Boym, Andrei Tarkovsky. Film editing: Lyudmila Feyginova. Music: Eduard Artemev.
Andrei Tarkovsky's dystopian fantasy has something of the flavor of a Russian folk tale. The archetypes are there: the perilous quest, the trio of seekers, the anagnorisis, the catharsis, the disillusioned return. The title character, splendidly played by Aleksandr Kaidanovsky, is not a "stalker" in the current sexual sense but rather a man who guides others into the Zone, a mysterious area cordoned off from the rest of the world by the military. In the Zone, the Stalker says, is a Room that fulfills each person's secret desires. The men he guides in the film are a cynical Writer (Anatoliy Solonitsyn) and an ambitious Professor (Nikolay Grinko) -- archetypes of art and science, who throughout their journey make the cases for their respective world-views. The film begins in monochrome -- sometimes stark black-and-white, sometimes a bilious orange -- in the Stalker's bedroom, where he shares a bed with his wife (Alisa Freindlich) and his young daughter, whom they call Monkey (Natasha Abramova). Before he leaves to meet the Writer and Professor, the wife chides him for taking on another dangerous mission. To get to the Zone, they have to pass through a heavily guarded section, and when they reach it, the film turns to color. But the Zone is no Oz, despite the obvious allusion. It is distinguished from the bleak industrial outside world by an abundance of vegetation that covers not only ruins of a former industrial society but also the tanks, weaponry, and corpses of the military that tried to invade and conquer it. The Zone is also magical, continually frustrating attempts to move through it and reach the Room, but the Stalker has learned how to anticipate and avoid its tricks. He says that as a Stalker he is forbidden to enter the Room, but the truth is that he knows the fate of an earlier Stalker, called Porcupine, who did enter it. Tarkovsky's usual long takes demand actors of considerable skill, and all of the company possess it. Although Freindlich's role as the wife is a smaller one, since she doesn't accompany them on the journey, she has a compelling scene at the film's end that's a master class in how to deliver a monologue. The shoot was a legendarily troubled one, since the locations were actual badly polluted industrial ruins, and many of the crew grew ill from the toxins in the abandoned chemical plant -- there are those who claim that the deaths from lung cancer of Tarkovsky, his wife, Larisa, who was a second-unit director, and Solonitsyn were a result of exposure to chemicals during the filming of Stalker. In fact, much of the film was shot at least twice, after cinematographer Georgi Rerberg was fired and replaced with Aleksandr Knyazhinsky, doubling the exposure of many of the cast and crew. Backstory aside, Stalker is a fascinating glimpse into Tarkovsky's mind and milieu.

Young Girl Got Abducted by Aliens
Tumblr media
A case in the USSR in 1978 is still being studied by ufologists today. A children’s pioneer camp called “Rainbow” was not far from Perm. It is a place where young boys and girls to do some activities.
Both neighboring and faraway cities and villages were represented. For example, Larisa Goyvorova, a resident of St. Petersburg, visited the “Rainbow” when she was 15 years old and became involved in some weird happenings.
Larisa Goyvorova awoke in the middle of the night on July 21, 1978, to the sound of someone shouting her name. The head registered the noise. The girl questioned her friend Masha Ostapenko if she had heard anything strange after waking her up. The response was unfavorable. A short while afterward, everything occurred once more.
When Larisa approached the window, she noticed bright things circling over the trees.
When the teen showed curiosity, she left the building. Masha, a friend of Goyvorova’s, described the following events: “Larisa walked outside and looked around. First, she glanced around to ensure no one was in the area, then moved closer to the glowing balls.
“There were four or five of them. At first, they hovered over the trees but then dropped to a height of 3–4 meters. For some time, the objects were above Larisa and then lined up at the level of her head from four sides.
“Connecting bright blue beams appeared between them. Then there was a flash, and Larisa disappeared. Links between luminous objects have been severed. They flew up again above the trees and rushed off to the side.”
They spent more than three years looking for the girl. Both specialized organizations and ordinary people helped the police officers. But unfortunately, the camp’s leadership was replaced due to this occurrence, and it was shut down entirely for some years.
In the 1990s, attempts were made to renovate the children’s camp, but they failed. There is no record of Larisa Goyvorova. Masha Ostapenko also tried to track out her buddy, but at the age of 30, she gave up.
During the search for a missing teen, it was discovered that at least two other male youths in the camp had also heard these mysterious voices in addition to Larisa. However, unlike the female, they stayed inside the camp facility.
Did extraterrestrials indeed abduct the St. Petersburg adolescent? Naturally, there is not much physical evidence to support this view — only a recounting of Masha Ostapenko’s story and a loose confirmation of telepathic contact with campers.
According to ufologists, the alleged kidnapping of humans by extraterrestrials is frequent. Sometimes they come back to Earth, and other times they vanish entirely. According to the experts, a lot depends on the individual’s desires and the intents of extraterrestrials.
There is a theory that they kidnap people to use as study subjects’ biomaterial. In a less gory version, aliens pick deserving individuals from among humans to advance to a higher level of existence.
Unfortunately, humankind has reached a point where it is so aware of aliens that one can constantly wonder how accurate such tales were.

The Most Complex Problems Have Simple Solutions.
If I have learned anything this semester it's this. If you have to take an essay to justify something then it's not the truth. I had been beating around the bush to spare myself from facing the truth. In the long run that was more painful than just accepting things for what they are. Since the day I met him, I have been struggling with what role Spencer should play in my life. I was trying to mold him into a role that I wanted him to play instead of letting it come naturally. Even when I consciously stopped trying to force him into the role of my boyfriend, I still longed for him to fit that role. Even to this day, I want him to want me. I guess that's all I wanted. I didn't want to be more than friends with him, I just wanted him to want me. I guess I didn't care if that was as friends or not. When I think about us I focus more on the potential moments before we start " dating". This idea again reinforces why I am having a sexuality crisis. The hard part is knowing that all I wanted from him was male validation, is it my job to not let that affect our friendship? It's hard to realize that our entire relationship was built on my need for male validation. From the second I met him to why I still wanted to be friends with him after everything happened. My actions, thoughts, and words were directed toward getting male validation. I can try as hard as I want but I can not separate Spencer from my desperate desire for male validation. That is why I don't think I can be friends with him right now. To be honest I should have let him go with the others last semester. The only reason why I didn't and the only reason why I wanted to repair anything with Larisa was that I didn't want to lose that validation. I did everything not to lose him becuase he was the only ounce of male validation that I was receiving. Every time I receive any form of male validation I interpret that as romantic feelings. This is why I think I am not attracted to men. I don't want them I want their validation, and nothing can really be built on that. Nothing real at least. I don't seek validation from women the same way so I can feel romantic feelings for someone with whom I have a deeper connection. So knowing all of this the next task is to figure out what to do. Here is my plan for this current moment. I want to give myself space from Spencer. Out of the best intentions and love for myself, I need to take a step back. Luckily for me, that is almost too easy, becuase I don't have to do anything. I am going to explore the joy of female relationships, platonic or romantic. I am also going to continue going to therapy to figure out how I am going to work through this. Finally, I am going to continue making my well-being my priory, which I think means taking a real break from weed. Even though this all sucks I am so proud of myself for starting to figure this shit out at 19. So many women go through this exact same thing but don't do anything about it. Sometimes I need to reflect and see how awesome I am. I am starting to love myself and not validation.
