David Lynch is from Montana and Mark Frost spent some time in Minnesota growing up.

— not surprising to me, especially the north Midwest touches that I swear don’t really show up in Washington the way they do around here, having lived in both regions. Yeah we have a lot in common and there is also a lot that is pure PNW... but some of the way the interiors are. The way nobody seems to remember there’s an ocean anywhere nearby. And Pete. Pete is from Minnesota ok? I don’t know this but I know this.

It’s basically west eastern Washington not western Washington.

— so ok fair they are far enough inland to not be in go hang out at the coast range, but not so far everything is suddenly almost a desert, which is what happens in firmly eastern WA and OR.

“Stipulated they wanted Lynch and Frost to film an ending so if the pilot tanked they could sell it as a self encapsulated movie in Europe. And so those sequences actually ended up being Cooper’s dreams in later episodes.”(Ashley)

The ending specially made for the pilot is on some tapes? Might have to check.

Lynch hasn’t done tv yet and it was Frost being there which made it possible for them to get shows looked at at all.

“Mark Frost wrote most of the more verbose characters, like Ben Horne, and Lynch really focused on Dale Cooper.” (Ashley)

Paraphrasing — their process was trying to work as one mind, but they did say there was a sort of divide between the more articulate and verbose characters and the ones who spoke to David Lynch, namely Dale Cooper

— this is an odd line to me because Dale talks a lot too lmao... I agree it really just sounds like David had his OC and some setting and plot ideas and Mark Frost populated the world for him like a DM basically
