i swear i had a lot in my head but not i'm as head empty as that gif of vasily. but seriously when i read the books i didn't put much thought to vasily ( you know, similar to LB ) so i was surprised when i saw a blog for him come up on my dash. and then i started to see you on my dash more and i was like okay!! i can see it. i can see him being more than just what we saw on the pages. and like tbh i always enjoyed reading your and sarah's threads even before i became friends with you guys. it was always so obvious the care you put into his characterization to create a multi dimensional character that was not only fun to write with but also made sense in the canon material he came from

i am seriously so thankful to have you as an rp partner and it's been so fun to throw the idiots into many different situations and i can't wait to see what we come up with in the future for them. you're an amazing rp partner and an even better friend and i'm very thankful to have you in my life. even if your portrayal of vasily is so good that i both love him and want to shake him on a daily basis

EUGENE WOULD BE LYING IF HE CLAIMED HE WASN’T FREAKING OUT SLIGHTLY. he had no clue what to do with their one year anniversary and while he was thankful he had a lot more time to think about what to get vasily unlike the gap between Christmas and vasily’s birthday. eugene still found himself drawing a blank. logically he knew he could go outside, grab a rock, and put goggley eyes on it, and vasily would still be happy. make fun of him, yes. but happy still tell him that he loves it because it came from eugene and all that sentimental crap that, admittedly, eugene loved.

at least on vasily’s birthday he didn’t have to worry about how his present would pair against vasily’s own. something that if he voiced would result in him getting smacked and then kissed while telling him he’s both overthinking the whole thing while also somehow being incredibly stupid.

it was their anniversary and eugene should let vasily sleep. but eugene also wasn’t known for being the most patient ( unless it was tied to one of kaz’s schemes ) and he didn’t want to go to the gym and risk missing vasily waking up. gently, and all too similar to a puppy, eugene nudge his nose against vasily’s cheek and left kisses against his neck until he finally watched blue eyes blinks open.

a grin spread across his features as he ignore any groggy protest of his boyfriend. ❝ I win, happy anniversary, ❞ he might not have the most lavish gift. and maybe he was cheating a little by piggybacking off vasily’s. but he still had a bounce in his movements as he pushed the bag and card into vasily.

the card read: Didn’t feel right being the only one wearing a ring. I know I was the one who backed out that day. and we agreed to wait until after law school. but this is my promise to you, one year into our relationship, that no matter what happened or who tries to come between us, you are my heart and my love now and for all the years to come

in the bag held a plastic ring similar to the one eugene wore on his right hand. though before vasily could respond eugene placed his hand over his mouth, crushing the bag against his boyfriend’s chest. and pulled out a wooden carving he kindly asked (begged) his brother to help him make.

it wasn't often that vasily was woken up by eugene, unless he was still sleeping past twelve, but even that was rare nowadays. vasily lets out a groan at the feeling of-- was something nudging him? did eugene buy them a dog and this is how he's telling him? he does smile at the kisses, wrapping a hand around him and trying very hard to open his eyes. he still didn't like being woken up, but this wasn't... too bad.

he doesn't react to eugene's words just yet, the grogginess not having worn out. " it's-- what? " the words leave his mouth before he can register what he's saying. anniversary. their first anniversary. him and eugene have been together... a whole year. the breakup doesn't count.

a bag is handed to him and vasily stares at it. almost in disbelief. he almost asks if it's another plushie, not that he doesn't love sir flynn with all of his heart. he reads the card quickly, then again and by the third time, there's a few tears poking at the edge of his eyes. he turns to him with a grin.

before he has time to say anything, eugene is placing the ring on his finger and he lets out a sob as he stares at it. it's nothing grand. but it's perfect. it's a promise like the one he gave eugene for his birthday. a promise he wants to keep until the day they say 'i do.' he starts to say something but is stopped by eugene's hand over his. he's tempted to bite at it, but doesn't, since he's handed another gift.

he moves eugene's hand from his mouth and leans up to kiss him, cupping his face with his now ringed hand. " i love them. both of them. " he traces his fingers over the carving with a small smile. " i love you so much. and i will very much enjoy spending the rest of our days together. the good and bad. no matter what. "

since it’s loving britt hour I thought I would add on. never in a billion years when I followed you on vasily over a year ago on david did I think that I would also be following him on eugene and absolutely fall in love with vasily and eugene as a ship BUT ALSO AND MORE IMPORANTLY find my best friend. I know I kinda hint at it before but like I fully have you to thank for reminding me of how much I love and missed eugene a year ago when we first started plotting these little idiots who we now apparently can only have gross happy endings for because I will kill someone if they don’t at least have the first two adopted kiddos in their lives. you literally made such a dull ( in canon ) character so much more believable and brief shoutout to sarah too because like I eat up every single interaction between those two rich idiots brothers who I would for sure die for. you both are my favorite lantsovs

Beep beep your betrayal is amazing. I have said it before and I will keep yelling it ( or typing ) until I go blue ( or my thumbs get too tired ) but I cannot express enough how much I adore you and your betrayal of Vasily. When I was first introduced to the character in the books I was like look at this older brother asshole ( derogatory ) but you took a character that still had so much to desire and turned him into older brother asshole ( affectionate ). You didn’t erase who he was in the books and instead made him this well rounded character with flaws. Is he still too much of a daddy’s boy? Maybe. But you looked beyond what we were given in a couple pages and asked okay but who would this person actually become when he grows up? And I think that was a very sexy thing for you to do. And I could go on and on forever how much I love the way you write Vasily but my fingers are getting tired

PS I love reading your interactions with Sarah cause if always feels like a genuine adaption of what their relationship is and should have been in the books. And what we might have gotten if the books weren’t just from Alina’s pov

i just think what you have done with vasily is so fun & thoughtful. like he very much has that vibe of being a big bro who loves to poke fun at his little brother, but it's tempered by a lot of genuine affection. also way you work vasily into other aus that lets him interact with more than just the ravkan characters... i am obsessed. its so creative and you have absolutely given vasily the best development outside of the series and made him a lovable but flawed and fleshed out character 🥺

in all honesty, vasily wasn't expecting anything from eugene for the holidays. he knew he wasn't well off, like himself, and vasily was mostly just happy to have eugene back in his life. gifts were the least of his worry. he'd take just a 'merry christmas. i love you' from him and he's be more than happy.

so color him surprised when eugene did hand him a little gift bag. he looks at the bag with a confused look, then back at eugene with the same confused look. "why would i not be nice to you?" he mutters, leaning up to kiss his cheek lightly.

with a small smile, vasily looks into the bag, pulling out the card and letting out a soft giggle. "i love it. it's very cute." he slides the card back into the bag carefully, wanting to preserve that for as long as he can. there's something about getting a homemade card that puts butterflies in his stomach. it's sweet.

vasily looks up at him with a wide smile as he grabs whatever else is in the bag. "i don't know how you could top that, babe." as he's talking, he pulls out the plush, and he goes silent, just staring at it. "i--" a wave of emotions overtake him and he hugs the plush against his chest. "i'm naming him sir flynn," he whispers, a small grin on his face.

plush still in hand, he throws his arms around eugene's neck, burying his face into his neck. "i love it so much. i love you so much." and if eugene happens to feel a tear or two against his neck, no he didn't.
