GIRL TALK is a five member fictional girl group under Delphi Entertainment consisting of Soojin, Minji, Holly, Mei, and Yuuri. Starting as a pre-debut project, GIRLISH, in early 2017, each member was introduced to the public through a solo promotional single and dance and song covers. GIRL TALK was set to debut on November 1, 2017 but their debut was delayed due to unknown reasons. They debuted on May 5th, 2018 with the digital single Summer Dream. Their debut was received well by the public, quickly rising their way up to stardom.

Despite their rising domestic popularity, GIRL TALK did not become successful internationally until 2019 with their song Fancy, a mature concept, a stark contrast to their usual bubblegum pop sound while maintaining their upbeat style.

Dubbed the Princesses of K-pop, they are considered one of the most successful Korean girl groups internationally. They are stylistically recognized by their versatile sound ranging from bubblegum pop to girl crush to funk rock.

GIRL TALK is considered to be one of the best live vocal groups in K-pop and is known for their highly synchronized and complex dance routines, having been awarded the Best Dance Performance Award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards two times in a row for their dance performance.

Sato Yuuri was born on September 28, 2002 in Takamatsu, Japan to criminals Sato Michiya and Hiroka. She was fostered and later adopted by an American couple, Daisy and Logan Hughes and is one of six children. As she came from a family full of (albeit unknown) musicians, she showed interest in singing as early as five. She remained connected to her roots as she listened to J-pop and later K-pop as well.

After a video of her singing while playing Just Dance 2016 went viral, a Delphi Entertainment staff member saw and scouted her. She came to South Korea to audition properly, as well as auditioning at other companies in person and auditioning online at companies in Japan. She got accepted into multiple companies, and was going to choose Avex but was too nervous to go through with it. She ultimately chose Delphi Entertainment in the end.

In 2017, she was announced as a trainee in Delphi Entertainment’s pre-debut girl group project; GIRLISH, with nine other girls. She was well received by the public and was the third member to be revealed for GIRL TALK. She debuted in 2018 in the girl group GIRL TALK as their maknae, lead vocalist, and lead dancer.

Park Haeun was born on August 20, 2000 in Victoria, Canada to a simple businessman, Park Younghyun, and a bookstore owner, Kimberly Lee. When her mother died in 2005, Younghyun ‘Adam’ packed their little family up and moved to Toronto, Canada, where he later got remarried to a woman, Sarah Teller, and had two children with her.

In 2015, Holly went to South Korea for her student exchange program for a school year to learn more about her culture and mother from her maternal grandparents. There, she fell in love with K-pop and decided she wanted to become an idol, ending her studies. Understandably, her parents were upset and begged her to come home, but she refused and her grandparents helped her convince them.

In 2017, she was announced as a trainee in Delphi Entertainment’s pre-debut girl group project; GIRLISH, with nine other girls. She was well received by the public and was the fifth girl to be revealed for GIRL TALK. She debuted in 2018 in the girl group GIRL TALK as their main dancer and lead rapper.

Kim Minji was born in Seoul, South Korea on January 7, 1999 to the CEO of NWU, Kim Wonshik, and songwriter ‘Mazi’ Jung Yebin, also being the granddaughter of Shin Youngmi, an opera singer. It is speculated that her uncle’s girlfriend is the founder of Delphi Entertainment, Son Bomi. By the age of eight, she had already been in a few commercials and had multiple short scenes in Princess Hours.

In 2014, she was a trainee at SM Entertainment but left a year later. It is widely speculated that her vocal coach, Youngjae Kwon, had to do something with her departure from SM Entertainment from posts from Anonymous people. She joined Delphi Entertainment and was one of the most popular trainees, especially after being revealed as one of the girls for GIRLISH. It was inevitable for her to debut in GIRL TALK.

In 2017, she was announced as a trainee in Delphi Entertainment’s pre-debut girl group project; GIRLISH, with nine other girls. Mei was born on June 15, 2001 in Harbin, China, to a teacher, Hu Yuxan, and a florist, Cai Lian. She is the middle child of three, with one sister and one brother. She practiced in Chinese Traditional Dance for six years before she moved to South Korea after getting into JYP Entertainment at an audition at her school.

In 2014, she left JYP Entertainment after being there for two years with empty promises to debut. She joined Delphi Entertainment where she then went on Produce 101 in 2016 and ranked 12 in the last episode.

In 2017, she was announced as a trainee in Delphi Entertainment’s pre-debut girl group project; GIRLISH, with nine other girls. She was well received by the public and was the fourth member to be revealed for GIRL TALK. She debuted in 2018 in the girl group GIRL TALK as their leader, main rapper, and visual.

Ahn Soojin was born on November 7, 1998 to a chef, Ahn Jungmo, and a nurse, Kim Soeun in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She is the oldest of five daughters. In 2008, her mother and two youngest sisters were murdered by an unknown assailant that broke into their home in Gyeonggi-do while Soojin and her other two sisters helped her father close up at his restaurant. She then moved to Seoul with her remaining family; her father, and her sisters, Minkyung and Solbin.

Soojin was scouted five times by Delphi Entertainment online from her rising popularity as an ‘ulzzang’ but didn’t go to auditions until 2016 when they contacted her father. In 2016, she was a contestant on Unpretty Rapstar 3 and was a semifinalist.

In 2017, she was announced as a trainee in Delphi Entertainment’s pre-debut girl group project; GIRLISH, with nine other girls.
