{“My new neighbor is simultaneously the scariest and nicest people I’ve met.” But with John Wick and reader? Like the reader is his new neighbor and kinda a slow burn after she gets over being intimidated by him?? Idk I like all things fluffy and that sounds like a good one}

The wind messes with your hair, making a shiver roll down your spine. Pulling your feet up on the small, wooden table you have on the front garden of your house, you can't help but stare at the bigger, larger house beside your own. But it's not the house itself that gets your undivided attention. It's the owner. The man with the weirdest routine you ever knew. You've seen him, messy hair, playing with his dog, but also in an impeccable dark suit, hair slid back. When you see him like that, he's gone for a while. Days, weeks.
The look in his eyes used to scare you. You had the feeling that his stare alone was enough to make people shake like a leaf, surrender everything they own.
You remember the first time you laid eyes on him. Taylor, the only friend you had made back then, since you moved here, asked for your company on a morning walk. She lives down the street, so you joined her when she passed by your place. A few steps and something caught your eye. You saw him moving inside, through the windowpane, and for some reason, you stopped, shamelessly staring. He was facing away, his strong, muscular back everything you could see.
“(Y/N),” Taylor called you. “Oh.” She mumbled once she noticed what you were looking at. “That's Mr. Wick. I don't know the first name. He's not very social.”
The man turned around and you involuntary held your breath. The way his dark hair fell on his face, hiding his eyes made you give a step back.
“Hey,” Taylor called you once more, snapping a finger in front of your face. “I know he's hot, but I can't believe you're already daydreaming.”
“What?” You finally looked away, eyes now focusing on your friend. The feeling you had was far from what Taylor suggested, but it was still unnamed. “I wasn't daydreaming. Let's get moving.” When you started walking again, you couldn't help but give one last look. And you felt like hit by a car when you got him already staring, straight at you.
The memory makes you shiver more than the wind, which gets colder every passing minute. The sun is setting, and soon it'll be dark. But you're still looking at the house, which it's empty. Mr. Wick. John Wick, left more or less a week ago, dressed to impress as usual. Your mind floats back to the day he told you his first name, the day when he didn't make any effort to hide he was interested in you.
The accidental meeting happened a few weeks after the first time you saw him, after a handful of times that you bumped into each other on the sidewalk. He always smiled kindly and greeted you with a good morning or a good evening. But on that particular night, after you left Taylor's house and started making the way back home, a storm broke loose and the sky fell on you. You had been feeling ill all day, but chose not to give much thought about it. But then, under the cold, heavy rain, you had to focus on keeping your legs working. Bracing yourself, you groaned when your foot slipped, making you fall, your arm hitting the ground hard.
“Damn it.” You muttered, the loud noise of a car stopping suddenly getting your attention. The rain clouded your vision as a blur moved towards you, and arms pulled you up, back to your feet.
“Miss (Y/L/N).” He had said. “Are you alright?”
You could only nod, the words caught in your throat because you were aware of how close to his body he was holding you. Mr. Wick stood tall, way taller than you, like a tower. You didn't want to, but the cold was taking over, and your body collided against his, seeking some warmth. “I'm ok.” You lied, looking up and meeting those dark eyes, as dark as the night that surrounded both of you. That time you noticed he was much older than you and the proximity allowed you to feel the muscles under the suit. You couldn't help but feel intimidated, suddenly so small and fragile.
“Come. Let me drive you home.” Mr. Wick guided you to his car, opening the passenger door and helping you in. You were feeling terribly dizzy, so you didn't complain.
“I-I live on the house next to yours.” You said, shaking like a leaf. “On the left.”
“I know.” He answered, giving you a worried look.
Once he stopped by your house, you opened the door and started making the way to the front door, thankful to reach the porch that offered shelter from the rain, but not from the cold. You searched for the keys, but soon enough you remembered you had left them at Taylor's, on her kitchen table. Alongside your phone.
“Shit.” You whispered to yourself, looking over your shoulder, seeing that Mr. Wick was still standing there, in the rain, as if waiting for you to get in.
You didn't quite understand why you felt so scared of him when he had been nothing but gentle to you on every single occasion you happened to meet. But the very sight of him sends a wave of nervousness through your body. Mr. Wick walks, talks, and even breathes like he hides something, a secret, dark and dangerous. Or maybe it was just the cold and the dizziness messing with your head.
“You may go, Mr. Wick. I... I will have to get back to my friend's. I forgot the keys.” You told him, pushing the wet hair away from your face. “And my phone.”
“I won't let you go back there in this weather. You're clearly feeling sick.” Mr. Wick walked over you, reaching out his hand. “Come to my house. I'll make something warm for you to drink and you can use my phone to call your friend.”
Your answer would be no, obviously. But a flash of bright lightning crossed the sky, followed by a rumble of deafening thunder, which, it seems, was loud enough to open up the skies and strengthen the rain, if that was even possible. “I promise I only want to help.” He said, and that made you nod and step forward, taking his hand.
Mr. Wick had an arm around your waist during the short walk to his house. You breathed out, relieved for the warmth when you stepped in. While he disappeared into the house, you seated on the coffee table instead of the couch, since you were soaking wet. He was quick to bring you a towel and a tea, handing you his cellphone. But for some reason, Taylor wouldn't pick up, so you had no choice but to hand Mr. Wick his phone back. It seemed like the whole Universe was against you that night.
“She won't answer.” You said feeling his fingers brushing on yours when he took the phone from your cold, shaking hand. Looking up, you noticed he changed into dry clothes. Jeans a white T-shirt. He looks handsome, as he always does. There must be a reason for him not to have a girlfriend or anyone in his life. There must be a catch, a plot twist somewhere here. Someone looking like Mr. Wick must have a long trail of hearts wanting to belong to him. “I'm sorry, Mr. Wick, for all the trouble I'm causing you.”
“You may call me John.” He said, sitting on the couch before you. You didn't know why, but it came out to you that he moved like a predator, steady and always in full alert. But his voice was kind, low and calming. He knew you were scared of him, of course, he did. Nothing goes unnoticed by him.
“You may call me (Y/N), then.” You muttered, sipping on your tea.
“A pretty name for a pretty lady.” The compliment made you smile, looking down to hide your blushing cheeks. “I can give you dry clothes. Until you get to contact your friend.”
And so he did. Mr. Wick... John... Gave you one of his sweatpants and shirt, and you changed off of your soaking clothes. You felt stupid, ugly, in his baggy clothes, bracing yourself as if trying to disappear as you made your way back to the living room, ignoring how cold the floor was under your bare feet. John's eyes lingered for a while, as you walked over him, taking a seat on the couch, keeping a distance.
“May I... May I ask what do your work with, Mr... John.” You corrected yourself and he smiled. The question only came up because the silence was as intimidating as him. Any kind of conversation would help, you thought.
“I'm retired.” He simply said. “What about you?”
“I'm an office administrator. From a... An office that sells medical equipment.” God, you sounded like an idiot. You felt so small, tiny, compared to him. And ugly, set side by side with him. From this up close, his handsomeness was shocking, breathtaking. The way his eyes were set on you made you shiver, clearing your throat, you tried to push the words out. “I just started though... I just moved here two months ago.”
“Am I making you uncomfortable?”
His question got you by surprise, and you looked up, meeting his intense eyes. “No. I just...” A humorless laugh left your lips, and you pushed the hair away from your face. “I must look so bad in these.” You gestured at yourself, and then to him. “And you're just... More. I mean...”
You froze when you felt his hand on your face, fingertips running across your jaw, leaving a trail of fire. “I think you look beautiful. Even on my baggy clothes.”
You suddenly realized you wanted to kiss him. The sudden change was a surprise, and you were perplexed with yourself. The fear was slowly sinking, opening a new space, which was being filled with something else. Curiosity. A sudden need to know why John was touching you so gently, why he was saying those things. You felt your body moving closer to him, almost as if being pulled involuntary, like a magnet. You wanted to touch him, to know how he's beard would feel under your fingers, but you didn't know if you could.
“Can-can I...” You stuttered, biting your tongue. How was it possible, that your mind worked in such a weird way? That all of a sudden, you wanted him, the man you've been trying to avoid? You were a mess that night, threatening to fall apart right before him.
John took your hand, softly, bringing it to his lips and placing a kiss on your fingers, as soft as silk. You felt his stubble, eyes fixed of the shape of his lips. “You don't have to be so nervous around me, (Y/N),” John said, his voice barely a whisper. “And, if you want, I'd like to take you out on a date.”
“You want to take me out?” You repeated, speaking too fast, trying to understand why in the hell would a man like John wants to go on a date with a girl like you. It didn't make sense, and you had this feeling that trying to understand would only lead to a dead end.
“I do.” You muttered because there was no other possible answer. Another kiss came, this time on your cheek, dangerously close to your lips.
A car approaching drags you away from the warm memory, and you're finally able to avert your eyes from his house. You miss him, and somehow looking at the empty house makes you feel a little better. He did take you out, on the next night. And you have been to several dates by now, too many to count.
“My neighbor is simultaneously the scariest and nicest person I ever met.” You told Taylor on the day after your second date with John Wick. She laughed and you blushed, because on the night before, John kissed you by your front door, for the first time. You had to tiptoe, despite the high heels you were wearing, your arms quick to pull him closer, welcoming his touch.
“Are you in love with him?” She asked, smirking.
“I think I am.” You admitted on a low voice.
John Wick was a patient man. He waited, he worked hard to make you feel comfortable around him. And he succeeded.
Today, you smile to yourself. The intimidation John caused completely replaced by love. The kind of love you never thought you'd feel, the kind you didn't even know existed.
“Sweetheart.” A voice reaches you, carried by the wind. Immediately, you put your feet down and stand up, turning to find John, stepping out of his car.
“My love.” You run into his embrace, arms wrapping around his neck as you tiptoe to kiss him, his soft lips suddenly making the cold leave your skin. “I missed you so much. If I knew you'd come back today I'd cook something nice for you.” Whispering, you don't step away from his embrace.
“That's even better because now I can help you.” His deep, strong voice still sends shivers down your body, but for a very different reason now.
“Let's go then.” Smiling to him, you entangle your fingers on his, following his pace to his house.
The place that once terrified you now feels more like home than your own. As does John. In his arms, you find solace, safety, unending love.

“Seriously, you're fucking with me right?” Ellie snapped.  “I wish I was Ellie, but we have to retest.” Logan sighed. “Shit, my phone.  I need to go get my phone.” she shot up running for the door. Of course something like this would happen, that was just her luck. Her thoughts now on Colt, who she was sure was flipping out. She got to her purse grabbing her phone.  17 missed calls she thought, all from Colt, except 1 that was the Drs office. As if on cue her phone started buzzing in her hand. It was Colt.
E: Colt? Whats going on?
C: Where the hell have you been ellie? I've been calling you non stop.
E: we're at the track with Logan.
C: Did you get the call from the Dr? He says we can be re tested today but we have to be there by 4.
Ellie looks down at her phone
E: 4? Its 3:30 Colt. And  that's all the way across town in traffic.  How are we supposed to get there by then?
C: Looks like you or Logan are going to have to channel your criminal driving.  I'm on my way to the office, I'll see you there.
Logan and Stacie ran up, her dad, sally and Luca joining them. “Whats going on?” Logan questioned. “That was Colt. The Doctor said we can be re tested today, but we have to be there by 4.” Logans eyes went wide as he took note of the time.  “I can get us there.” Logan stated confidently “lets go.”
Ellie asked Stacie to take her car and meet them at the office, her dad and Sallie heading home.  Ellie hooked Lucas car seat in Logan's car quickly and they set out for the office. 20 minutes to go, the panic starting to set in.
Logan grabbed her hand, trying to calm her down.  “You ok back there Luca?” he shouted back checking on Luca.
“This is fun!” Luca squealed, Ellie shook her head, Logan just chuckled. She definitely had speed in her blood, that's for sure.
They pulled up to the office with five minutes to spare. Colt stood next to his bike. “I was afraid you weren't going to make it.” he gave Logan a cocky smirk.  “Come on Kaneko, you know better than that.”
Ellie grabbed Luca from her car seat, she immediately ran to Colt throwing her arms out. “Hey princess, I missed you.” he wrapped her in a hug as he lifted her off the ground.
They walked into the building, being taken right into the back. Logan and Colt going first. Colt held Luca while they swabbed her mouth. The doctor told them they would be sending it off for testing right away, the new lab turnaround was 2 to 4 weeks for dna testing,  however with the amount of labs that would be flooding in it could take longer.
They walked out of the office finding Stacie waiting for them with Ellies car. Luca was complaining she was hungry so they decided to get something to eat.  Colt had a customer picking up a car who had a custom job done that he had to be there for, so Ellie said she would catch up with him later that week. Ellie dropped stacie off at work and headed to meet Logan at the restaurant. He already had a table waiting for them when they arrived.
After ordering and finally eating, Luca was content playing on Ellies phone. “Ellie I need to talk to you about something important.” She could sense the seriousness in his tone.
“Ok, but quietly please.” she nodded towards Luca.
“Ellie, i'm pretty sure you know how I feel about you. You were the first and only girl I ever loved. But being with you and luca these past few weeks, well it made me realize that I want a family. I'm ready to settle down.” She took a deep breath, she wasn't expecting that. “Logan” She let out a long sigh. “I dont think thats a good idea right now.”
“I know, with the divorce and all. But really Ellie, I'm not getting any younger. I'm willing to wait, but.” He hesitated. Ellie reached out giving his hand a squeeze “I understand Logan. I do not want you to put your life on pause because I'm indecisive. If someone comes along that you think could lead somewhere, see how it goes.”
Logan sat there contemplating her words. “Thanks Ellie.” he finally spoke.
After they paid for their meal, Ellie took Luca home. She walked through the front door holding her sleeping child. Her dad and sally were sitting on the couch watching a movie, laughing and enjoying each other.  “Hey kiddo. Someone passed out huh?” Frank looked up from the tv screen. “Hey guys. Yep long day. I'm gonna put her in bed and crash myself. Back to work tomorrow.” She said goodnight, put Luca to bed and headed there herself.
She put on her pajamas, and climbed into bed. She thought of her dad and Sally sitting on the couch, just enjoying being with each other. Her dad was happy, it was written all over his face and it made her happy for him. She thought about what Logan said at dinner, he was ready to settle down, but was she? She was divorcing Colt, was it fair to jump into something with Logan? Did she want to be with Logan or did she want Colt? She wasn't sure what she wanted that much was obvious, the thought of settling down, expanding her family and spending the rest of her life with someone who loved her and treated her well was all she ever dreamed of. She closed her eyes trying to escape her thoughts, after tossing and turning for a few hours she finally fell asleep.
A a few days had gone by, she had just got off work when he phone rang, Darnells name flashed across the screen.
“Hello.” she answered. “Hey Ellie, its Darnell. I just wanted to let you know that Judge Mitchell scheduled a date for the hearing.” Ellies blood ran cold, it was one thing to file but another that it was actually happening. “oh, ok. Um when is it?
“The Thursday before labor day.” Ellie went silent, her heart pounding in her chest. “Thats. That's two weeks away.”
“Yes. She wanted to get it in before the holiday. It'll be done soon. Have a good weekend Ellie.”
“Yeah, you too Darrell.” Ellie hung up the phone, tears now falling. The Realization that Colt would be served soon hitting her like a ton of bricks. She calmed herself down enough to call her dad and make sure Luca was ok a little longer with him.
She started her car and made that all to familiar drive. She pulled up, trying her best to calm her nerves as she exited the car and walked through the open bay door.
“Were closed.” She heard a voice shout from under a car. “I'm not her for that.” she spoke, her voice carrying throughout the shop. Colt rolled out from under the car, standing up quickly.  “Hey. What are you doing her? Is Luca ok?” he wiped his greasy hands off, tossing the rag down on a nearby table.
“She fine. I came because I need to tell you something.” Colt arched his brow “Those words are never good.”
“Darnell called, the divorce has been scheduled.” she watched the expression on Colts face change to curiosity to a mixture  between hurt and anger. “When.” His tone colt and flat.
“Two weeks.” She looked to the floor. This was what she wanted, so why was it so damn hard to tell him?
“Two weeks?!” he shouted. He turned grabbing a tool and chucking it across the room. “Fuck!” He screamed, Ellie flinching. “I'm sorry Colt.” she squeaked out. His eyes widening as he turned to face her. “Oh you're sorry? You don't seem sorry to me Ellie. You didn't even give me a fucking chance. All I wanted was to be a family. You, me and Luca,” he ran his hands through his hair. “You just don't understand do you? I love you Ellie, I never stopped. Everything I did, was for you. The house, this garage, everything!”
“Colt I, I don't know what to say.” She was at a loss for words.
“I didn't want to be my dad. I wanted Luca to have both parents, together.  Now that will never happen.”
“Colt, we don't know that she's yours.” She regretted saying as soon as it left her mouth. It was like adding salt to the wound.
“Shes mine. I know in my heart she's mine, and even if she wasn't..” He shook his head. “You know what. You can have it all, everything. The house, the garage, all the money. All I want in this life is to be able to take care of you, and Luca. And if you won't let me do it at your side,  take everything.” he threw his hands up in the air, walking away.
“Colt.” she hollered after “Colt!” she followed him into to small apartment that used to be logan's loft.  “I can't see you right now Ellie. I think we probably should keep our distance until i cool down.” Colt had his back to her. Hands splayed out on the counter,  his breathing heavy. He was upset, very upset. “But the zoo, and Lucas first day of school.” She whimpered, holding back tears.
“I'll be there, I wouldn't miss that for her. I  will be cordial to you. But I won't be ok with it, I never will.”
Ellie hung her head in defeat, walking down the steps and then to her car. Colts words ringing in her ears. She grasped the steering wheel with a white knuckle grip, the tears streaming down her cheeks. She knew telling him was going to be rough, but she wasn't expecting the overload of emotions that came with it. She thought back to the day they took the brotherhood down.
****
She walked up to her house,  Colt had a loose end to tie up with Toby and ximena. The crew skipping town, laying low from the FBI. She crossed the front yard when Logan slid out of the shadows. “Logan? What are you doing here? I thought you left town.” her eyes darted around, assessing her surroundings. “I am, but I needed to see you first.” he came closer, closing the distance between them. “Look Ellie, I had every intention to apologize for dragging you into this. But now that I'm here, i'm not sorry.”
“You're not?” She looked at him confused.
“No,” He shook his head. “If I didn't seek you out, I would have never met you. And though I may not have been the guy for you, I couldn't live in a world where I never knew you. You changed my life for the better Ellie.” he softly brushed the bruises on her face.
Ellie threw her arms around him, burying her face in his chest. “I don't want you to go, please don't go.” she sniffled. “Believe me Ellie, I don't want to, but I have to.  Go off to college, kick some ass. And remember I'll always be thinking of you.” She lifted her face, looking in his eyes. She pressed her lips against his, savoring the feeling one last time. “I hope this isn't goodbye forever. Promise me you'll stay safe.” she pulled back resting her head against his chest. “He pressed his lips to the top of her head. “I promise. Goodbye Ellie.” he took one last look at her before disappearing into the night.
She turned heading toward the house spotting colt standing there. “You kissed him.” He clenched his jaw. “You were spying on me? How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough. And no, I wasn't spying on you. I finished what I needed to and came back for you.”
Ellie hesitated at the door. Could she really give up everything she had worked for? Could she really skip out on her dream school for a life on the run with Colt?
“Colt. I don't think we should do this. We rushed into this, its crazy. We. We need to get an annulment.”
Colt stumbled back. “What? Ellie come on, We love each other.”
“I know, and i do love you Colt. I do but.”
“Its Logan isn't it? You wanted to be with him, I was a mistake.” he retorted.
“No. Colt that's not-”
“Save it Ellie. Go live your life, I'll get an annulment.” he climbed on his bike.
Ellie felt sick to her stomach, what did she do? She was scared, she didn't want to lose him. “colt.” she called after him, he put his helmet on kicking his bike to life. “Colt. Colt, come back. Please.” it was to late, she watched his tail lights fade out of view. She was alone, truly and completely alone.
*******
She pulled into the driveway of her house,  she pulled her compact from her purse attempting to cover the evidence of her crying. She walked into the house to hear laughter.  Frank, sally and Luca sat around the table eating ice cream, having a good time. “Hey guys.” She peaked her head into the room. “Hey kiddo. Everything ok.” She gave her dad a half hearted smile.  “Yeah, everything's fine.”
“Will you give me a bath mommy? I'm all sticky.” Luca held her ice cream covered hands up. “Sure thing sweetpea.”
After bathing and getting Luca to bed, Ellie walked over to a box that was left unpacked. She pulled out a medium sized shoe box, removing the lid she pulled a few items out. A ticket stub from the drive in, a small cactus, a bullet necklace, some photos of the crew and the last two. A picture of Logan and her, taken after the pool game, the other of her and Colt at Prom. She laid the two in front of her, her eyes burning into the paper. What was she going to do?

Chapter Two- Part Two
Phina sits awkwardly in the back seat of Barb's car. Not wanting to be there at all. They drove towards Steve's house, the houses in the area becoming bigger and more separated. They were in the rich side of Hawkins, where people like the oh so lovely Harrington's lived.
"Barb, pull over," Nancy suddenly says.
   "What?" Barb asks.
   "Pull over," Nancy repeats.
Barb does what she's told and parks the car on the side of the road, "What are we doing here, his house it three blocks away."
Phina sits forward so she's apart of the conversation, "Yeah, if I'm gonna be dragged here, I at least want to drive all the way there."
"We can't park in the driveway," Nancy says.
Phina rolls her eyes as Barb says, "are you serious?"
"This is so stupid, I'm just gonna drop you off," Barb says.
"Barb, come on. You promised that you'd go, you're coming, we're gonna have a great time," Nancy said.
"He just wants to get in your pants," Barb exclaimed.
   "No he doesn't," Nancy smiled.
"Yeah he does Nance," Phina piped in, "that's literally all he wants. Like, legitimately all he wants."
"He invited you to his house, his parents are not home, come on you are not this stupid," Barb adds.
"Tommy H and Carol are going to be there," Nancy tries to reason.
"Tommy and Carol have been having sex since 7th grade," Barb says.
"Yeah, it'll probably be like a big orgy, which I do not want to be a part or even a witness of," Phina agrees with Barb, adding in a little gag for emphasis.
   Nancy scoffs, "gross."
   "I'm serious," Barb says.
"All right well, you guys can be like my guardians," Nancy smiles at them, starting to take her shirt off, "all right. Make sure I don't get drunk and do anything stupid."
Nancy completely takes her shirt off and Barb looks at her, "is that a new bra?"
Nancy looks at Barb, then Phina, before looking back down, "no."
"Liar," Phina laughs, she knew for a fact it was, because Phina had been there when she bought it.
"Shut up," Nancy laughs back and turns around to playfully hit her sister.
The three girls stand at Steve's doorway and Nancy rings the bell. Barb shuffles nervously for a few seconds which causes Nancy to look at her.
   "Barb, chill."
   "I'm chill," Barb says quietly.
"I'm not, I don't want to be here," Phina snorts.
The doors open at that moment, and Steve looks at all of them, his eyes meeting Phina's. Her eyes were already lit with up like fire, and he didn't know why that made him want to squirm.
"Hello ladies," he smirks, trying to put on his I don't care attitude.
"Hello asshole," Phina smirks back before pushing past him and into his house.
   "Phina!" Nancy shrieks.
"No no Nance. I probably deserved that," Steve laughs.
   "Damn straight," Phina mumbles.
Steve leads the girls out to his backyard, which has a steaming pool in it. Phina quickly finds a chair and sits in it trying to avoid Tommy and Carol. Barb copies her, looking extremely uncomfortable. Tommy grabs Carol and pretends he was going to throw her into the pool. She lets out a high pitched scream.
Tommy lifts her up and counts, "one, two three!"
"You're such an asshole!" Carol shrieks at Tommy.
Steve suddenly stands up with a beer, shotgunning the entire thing. Phina glared at the back of his head the whole time, silently calling him every nasty word she could think of. He pretends like he doesn't feel the heat of her gaze on him and smirks.
He falls down into a lounging chair and Nancy smiles at him, "is that supposed to impress me?"
"You're not," he asks, as cocky as ever.
Nancy smiles, "you are a cliche, you do realize that?"
"You are a cliche, with what. Your grades, and your band practice," he fires back, lightning a cigarette.
Nancy laughs, "so not in band."
"Ok, party girl, why don't you just show us how it's done then," he says, handing her the knife.
Phina rolls her eyes as Nancy agrees. She knew her sister wanted to impress Steve, and that clouded any and all reason that she had. Her sister had only ever had a glass of champagne on New Years, if she thought she could keep up with Steve, and his little cronies, she was way out of her league.
"You gotta make a little hole, right at the bottom," Steve said.
"I got it," Nancy said, proud of herself.
"Yeah, she's smart, you douche," Tommy laughed and crushed a beer can on his forehead, and throwing it at the ground.
And you're definitely not, Phina thought to herself in answer.
Nancy made the hole and started to drink, Steve started chanting, "chug, chug, chug."
Tommy and Carol joined in, their voice growing louder and louder, making Phina glare at them. She had been glaring a lot that night, she wouldn't be surprised if she got stuck like that.
Nancy finished drinking and dropped the can, taking a bow. Phina, for the tenth time since she got here, rolled her eyes, again, she thought she'd get stuck like that. Steve saw her do this and got an idea, one that he surely thought would put her in her place.
"What, think you can do better, red?"
Phina glared at him, "I know I could."
"Then do it," Steve challenged her, the tone of his voice striking her ego.
Phina's eyes were an emerald fire, burning Steve as they searched his own eyes. Phina stood up quickly and grabbed the beer and knife, she'd done this before, multiple times actually, the first time being at a party she snuck away to a few summers ago. Her and Jonathan had gotten into a fight that night, so she wanted to take her anger out. She went to the party to get wasted and get in a fight, both of which she'd exceeded in doing.
She made the hole in the can and started to drink, the bitter liquid sliding across her tongue. Everyone was silent as she drank, tension building in the air. She finished faster the both Nancy and Steve.
Everyone was quiet as she threw the beer down, and bowed to Steve mockingly, a vicious smirk on her lips, "told you."
Steve watched her closely, almost as if he was trying to read her. He couldn't, no, she surrounded her self in a shield of vicious confidence that irked Steve. Her ego matched his and they were a nuclear bomb just waiting to go off whenever they were near each other.
Phina scowled at him, not liking the way he tried to see past her walls. She had spent years building them up, and she was not about to let some stupid jock get past them.
Nancy then stepped in, trying to diffuse the tension in the air, "Barb do you want to try."
"No, no I don't want to, thanks," Barb tried to say.
Phina broke eye contact with Steve when she heard the uncomfortable tone in Barb's voice. Her eyes softened, the fire dying out.
   "Come on," Nancy said.
"Nance, I didn't want to," Barb pleaded.
Phina shook her head at Nancy, "she doesn't want to Nance, leave her alone."
"Come on, its fun," Nancy ignored Phina, grabbing the knife from her sister's hand.
   "Nance," Barb pleaded again.
Nancy bent over, grabbing a beer from and put the beer and knife in Barb's hand, "just give it a shot."
   Barb stood up reluctantly, "ok."
Phina silently cursed Nancy and looked at Barb worriedly. Barb was definitely not the type of girl to do things like this, and Phina was angry at her sister for not caring about her best friends feelings.
Barb put the knife to the beer, mumbling slightly. She pressed the knife down and it slid, cutting her thumb.
   "Are you ok," Nancy asked.
Phina walked over to help, "Barb!"
   "I'm fine."
"You're bleeding," Nancy said, trying to grab Barb's hand.
"I'm fine," Barb said sternly, she turns towards Steve, "where's your bathroom?"
He stands up and awkwardly gives her directions to the bathroom, Barb leaves and disappears into the house. It's quiet for a moment, before Tommy decides to push Carol into the pool. She starts yelling at him, but he dives in after her, silencing her with the giant splash of water.
Steve pushes Nancy in and turns towards Phina. She scowls at him, which he answers with an infuriating smirk.
"You push me in, I'll cut off all your hair," is all she says.
"It'll grow back," he shrugs and hauls her over his shoulder, jumping into the pool.
Phina's head comes out of the water and she gasps for air. She turns around to yell at Steve, but he tackles her back underwater. He holds her around her waist, keeping her below the water. Her skin grows hot beneath his touch, her anger like a fire in her veins. The heat radiating off of her was actually uncomfortably warm, unnatural. He loosens his arms, just enough for her to escape.
Phina pushes him away and resurfaces, finding her sister laughing at her. Steve comes out up and she turns to him, absolutely livid.
"I'm going to kill you," she shouts.
"Come at me then red," he jokes, already pushing the feel of her warm skin beneath his hands from his mind.
He goes over to Nancy, still smirking at Phina until he pulls Nancy into his arms. They turn away from Phina and she angerly gets out of the pool. No one chooses to care.
"Nancy, I'm going home, don't worry I'll still cover for you," Phina says, even though Nancy doesn't even notice. She grabs a towel and Storms towards the gate, again, no one chooses to notice.
Steve does notice though. He watches as she leaves through the back gate, glancing behind her one last time. Their eyes meet and she glares at him before walking through the gate and slamming it harshly.
Steve winces a little. He was used to her anger, he had been a victim of it ever since their sixth grade year when Carol had gone a little to far while bullying Phina, but this was different. His heart actually stuttered slightly when she glared at him, feeling guilty for making her upset. Why? He had no clue, none whatsoever.
Phina walks down the road, kicking a rock as she goes. She shivers as the cold sets in, her entire body shaking. She glances down at her tattoo and shakes her head, not here, she thinks to herself. Phina lets her eyes travel, looking for somewhere secure.
Her eyes find an opening into the thick trees of the forest, where she knew a shortcut to her house was at, where she knew no one would see her. Once she'd walked far into the dense forest, she closed her eyes and focused.
Jonathan walked back to his car, his camera hanging from his neck, as he looked back into the forest one last time, hoping to see Will, he saw a golden light shining deep in the heart of the forest. It shinned brightly for a few moments, before disappearing all together.
Jonathan turned towards his car, and convinced himself it wasn't real.
On the other side of her short cut, Phina emerged from the forest, completely dry.

Nothing Else Matters
Another big decision.
Why is this day filled with the need to make big decisions?
“Why do you need to know that?” You mumble, a shiver rolling down your spine when you feel his lips brushing on your ear.
“Because I don't want you to break my little heart, princess.”
Damn it. “Billy, stop calling me that,” you beg, fixing your hair around your neck so it'll be a barrier between you and Billy. The damn nickname makes your stomach burn, and it has an effect on your head...
“Aren't you going to answer me?” You sigh when he messes with your hair, pulling it to the side and exposing your neck to him again.
“Pay attention to the movie.” Muttering, you feel as his lips brush on the soft skin of your neck.
“Just because you're the one asking.” He says, and you feel your body involuntary sinking into his embrace.
Billy is silent for the rest of the movie, thankfully, but his arm feels like iron, keeping you close.
The night falls and you make a pause on what will be a movie night when the pizza gets here. You made everyone chip in since you weren't planning on buying pizza for another six people. It's almost ten when everyone leaves, and you ask Billy to take you home. It was a good day, and you're happy you got to see Billy's house. And about all the rest.
As he drives, you smell the scent of his cologne on you, and you smile to yourself. “So... Did you enjoy it?”
“What?”
“Spending the day with me?” He stops by your place, and you step out of the car biting your lip. You wait for Billy to walk around the car before you start making the way over to the front door.
“I did.” You don't want to cover that up. You want Billy to know you like being around him. “I had fun. With you and the kids.” As you speak, you hear a low laugh coming from inside. “What's that?”
Gesturing for him to stay quiet, you unlock the front door, noticing how the lights are off, and the colorful ones coming from the TV. Slowly, you peak at the living room, smiling to see Diane is with someone, hugging, watching something on the TV. You don't want to ruin it, so you go back to the front door.
“My aunt is with someone. I need you to wait for me here, ok?”
He looks a little confused. “Yes, but why?”
“Just wait. Quietly.” You storm back inside when he nods, tiptoeing upstairs.
You know they can hear the footsteps down there, so you have to move fast. You grab your toothbrush and some clothes, throwing them on the first bag you find before running back down. “(Y/N)?” You hear her calling me when you reach the bottom of the stairs.
“I'm just going out again,” you say, running to the front door.
“Hey, hey!” She comes running, meeting you when you open the door. “You can... You can stay. Robert is just... Where are you going? It's late.”
It's so cute to see her like that, blushing. “Aunt, I'll...” Think fast. “I'll sleep at Billy's.” You gesture at him, standing behind you. He waves at Diane.
“Are you sure?”
“Yup. Now get back there!” You whisper-yell, stepping backwards, and closing the door. “Uhm...” You finally turn to face Billy, who's still pretty confused. “Sorry, I... Just take me to Monica's, I'll sleep there.”
“You told your aunt you'd sleep at my place. So that's where you'll be.” He raises an eyebrow, gesturing for you to head back to his car.
“Billy, I–”
“You'll sleep in Max's room. So chill.” He gives you that smirk again, and you roll your eyes.
You're soon back at his place, and he tells you to make yourself at home, so you take a shower in his bathroom. You brought leggings to sleep in, but you forgot to take a shirt. Sighing, you put the one you were wearing before, leaving the bathroom, finding Billy seated on his bed.
This is way too intimate. You're in his bedroom, showering on his bathroom, drying yourself with his towels... You weren't ready for this... But it's about to get more weird.
“Billy.” He looks up at you. “Do you... Do you have any shirts I can wear? I forgot to grab one... Or maybe see if Max has anything?” C'mon, you know you shouldn't do this, but the very thought of wearing one of Billy's shirts is just too strong.
There's a smile on his lips as he searches on his wardrobe. He hands you a dark red shirt, and you go back into the bathroom just to change. When you come out again, you feel Billy's intense stare. This is craziness. You shouldn't be here.
“You look beautiful.” He says, coming to stand before you. “Max has one of those mattresses she uses for camping. It's lied on the floor for you and you should take a blanket. The nights can get a little cold even in summer.”
“Yeah, I noticed...” You move away, to the door. You don't want to sleep, not yet. “Are you going to sleep now? Or we could watch some TV...” Biting your lip, you watch as he starts moving towards you, so you go to the living room, sitting on the couch.
Billy turns the TV on, in some random talk show, and turns the lights off. “Do you mind?” You shake your head no and he comes to sit by your side. “Why did you storm out of your house like that?”
“It's kind of a long story.”
“Tell me everything about it.”
“Uhm... Diane is more of a mother to me than my real mother, Laura. I have a very complicated relationship with my parents since forever so...” You use the light coming from the TV to analyze his face, to see if you're boring him already. But Billy seems to be curious, intense eyes focused on you. “Her husband died years ago and she has never been in a relationship after that. Diane... When she loves, she loves deeply and I remember how happy she was. I want her to be that happy again. She has always been there for me since I can remember. She's my anchor when things fall apart. She's the reason why I'm here, you know. When I started looking for a place to move to, she told me about Hawkins. Being born and raised here, she only moved to Indianapolis because her husband lived there. My plan is to live with her there during the week, when the classes are back, and come here for the weekend.”
“You really plan to live here?”
“Yes... You?” You move your body towards him, pulling one of your legs up, folding in under you. Billy looks so handsome, even in the dim light. You're distracted for a bit when Max comes from her room and goes to the kitchen.
“I'm... Reconsidering.” He smiles.
“Why?” Because of you? No, it can't be. Billy would never take this big of a decision because of you.
“What's the matter between you and your parents?”
Of course he won't answer. “They're both lawyers, as is my brother, so they wanted me to follow up. But since I can remember I knew I didn't want to do that... So it was always a nightmare.” Putting some of the hair behind your ear, you take a deep breath. “I had to study like crazy to keep my grades next to perfect because whenever I got a B it was like the end of the world. And the talk about my career was constant since I got into elementary school. There was yelling, cursing...” Talking about it makes you feel like a kid again, when you were too young to be forced to talk about University. “Maybe I should've played along to avoid the arguing, but I always wanted to stand my ground. And to them, to both of them, there was no other option, I had to become a lawyer and as I grew old, the humiliation started. You're not part of the family. You're nothing like your brother, he cares about us. We should've given you away, to a mediocre family so you could fit in. Why can't you be like your brother? You're a failure.”
“It got so much worse when I got into New York University...” You continue, looking down at your hands. “They told me I'd never do it. That Biomedicine is way too complicated and, let's face it, if I was smart enough, I'd pick Law. So in the end, I wasn't coursing Law because I'm dumb. And my brother is such an asshole. He feels so proud that our parents love and basically worship him as the perfect child... I just...”
“Hey...” Billy lifts your face, his index finger on your chin. “You're not dumb. You're very brave for standing up for yourself like that.”
“So that's why I'm here.” Breathing out, you move closer to him because you suddenly feel so comfortable here... Like you can trust him, completely. “I wanted somewhere new, to have a fresh start and this place is just perfect. It's so beautiful... I can actually picture having kids here and raising them running around the town like the kids I see.”
His fingers start moving, rubbing your cheek with his thumb. “I'm sorry you had to go through that in your life. I... My father was an asshole too. He... Hit me. Made my life a nightmare.” Billy's face changes, as the memories hit him like a train. “I'm only here because of Max's mother. Susan divorced Neil and bought this house so Max would have a place to live since she didn't want to leave Hawkins. And when she doesn't want to do something, nothing in the world changes her mind.” You feel relieved when a small smile comes to his lips. “That's why I'm still here. To look after Max and because the University of Indianapolis was the only one that accepted me.”
“Well, nothing matters now, right? We're both here now... Not paying attention to whatever is going on there.” You gesture at the TV.
“Nothing outside these walls matters.” He pulls you close and you move, your foreheads touching.
“Billy, please...” You beg, because you don't think you can hold back if he kisses you. You know you'll surrender. “Not yet... If... If you like me, please... Don't kiss me...”
You're scared. Scared he'll be mad at you, that he'll get tired and push you away.
But when you open your eyes, you see a smile on his lips. “I won't kiss you until you want me to.”
“Thanks,” you whisper, wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him close. Your heart starts beating even faster, if it's even possible, when you feel his strong arms embracing you. You never hugged Billy, and honestly, you have no idea how you could not have done it before. It feels right. So damn right.
You want him. You were careful with your heart, but he did it. He's making you fall for him.
When you pull away, he's smiling. Not the sassy smirk, but a true, bright smile. As if he just found a treasure, something valuable. “Let's stay here for a while...” He says. “Your aunt is cuddling with that Robert guy, we should do the same.”
Biting your lip, you sigh. You don't want to go to sleep now. You rather be with Billy for a while longer. “Alright.”
“Come here.” You lay your head on his chest, as you move to watch TV. You're not really paying attention, listening to his heartbeat.
• • •
A loud noise wakes you up. With a low groan, you pull the light sheet over your head to protect your eyes from the sun coming through the window. A soft, fresh scent makes you smile. You know this scent, it's familiar, comforting. “Watch out, Max!” Billy's low voice reaches you and you open your eyes, removing the sheet and realizing you're not home. That this is Billy's scent and this is Billy's bed. So you get up abruptly, looking around for a while, a hand on your forehead, before going to the kitchen, where you find him and his sister.
“Hey, I...” You gesture at where you came from. “Was that your bed?”
“Yes, princess. But don't worry, I slept on the couch.” He comes to stand before you, too close, handing you a mug with coffee.
“I will leave you guys alone,” Max mutters, leaving the kitchen.
“Thanks,” you tell Billy, taking a sip. “Sorry to take your bed.”
“Apology not accepted.” He gestures at the table. “Let's have breakfast. I made you toasts.”
“I like the toasts.” You sit beside him, trying not to be too happy about the fact that you're still here, having breakfast with Billy.
You chat a little, laugh a little, and accidentally spill your coffee on the table, which gets you a funny comment about him making you nervous. Of course he makes you nervous, how could he not? Hella good looking guy, calling you ‘princess’ and treating you with such attention, unlike anyone else before... Of course you're nervous.
You take your time showering, and you put his shirt on your bag, hoping he won't notice. Then you wait for him as he showers, watching TV, seated on the bench press.
“(Y/N). You know what time is it?”
“No. But we should get going.” Shrugging your shoulders, you stand up.
“We're late.”
“How late?”
“Late as in the pool is opening right now.” He says as if it's nothing.
“We gotta get going then.” It's unbelievable how he doesn't seem bothered by it, so you take his hand, pulling him out. “We still have to stop by my place to get the swimsuit, Billy. Let's go!”
He seems amused by your desperation, so you roll your eyes. You can barely talk to your aunt, since you're in a rush, just grabbing the uniform and heading back to the car.
It's so hot already. “Billy, can you stop by that store? I need something to drink.”
“Weren't you desperate to get to your job?” He smirks, giving you a glance.
“We're already late anyway. It'll only take a second.” When he stops the car you jump out, being in and out of the store in record time.
“Damn, you're fast.”
“Drive, Billy.” Rolling your eyes, you open the can, taking a sip.
Two minutes later he's parking on the reserved place for the lifeguards. You see as the heads turn at the sight of his car. Girls smiling, gossiping, telling her friends to check out who just got here. Taking a deep breath, you step out of the car, trying really hard not to notice how people stare. You haven't had time to consider what would mean showing up here with Billy. You should be used to having eyes on you since you're still the new girl, but this is for a whole different reason now. You're around Billy for quite a while now, and people are starting to count, to notice he still didn't ditch you.
Taking another sip of the soda, you wait for Billy to join you before start walking towards the entrance.
“Give me a sip.” He asks, taking your mind away from all the glances you're getting.
“Let's get inside. I'll get you a glass.”
“Why?”
“Uhm... Because I'm drinking straight from the can... With my mouth. I just thought...” Shrugging your shoulders, you watch as he takes the can from your hand, stopping by the entrance. You guess you're not worried that you're late anymore. You're already here anyway.
“Wait. Let's rewind a little.” Billy looks down at you, apparently ignoring how people linger around, walking slower when they're close, trying to overhear something. He doesn't seem to care. “You went to my place–”
“Keep your voice down, Billy. Please.” You warn him, and he seems to take this as a chance to step closer. So you back up, but your back hits the way. Why does he do that? Why does he pretends you're alone when you're surrounded by people?
“You went to my place, showered on my bathroom, used my soap, slept on my bed...” He squints his eyes a little, taking a deep breath. “And you're using my cologne.”
Damn it. You were supposed to keep a distance today because you put some of his cologne when he was showering. “Busted,” you mumble, feeling your cheeks burning.
“And... Considering the fact that I want to kiss you, why would I have any problems with drinking from your can?” When he's done speaking, he takes long sips from the soda.
“Why do I feel like you enjoy taking every chance you have to tease me?” You whisper, crossing your arms in an attempt to create some distance between your bodies.
“Because I can't stay away from you.” He hands you the can back. “And I know you don't want to stay away from me either, so yes, I'll take every chance I'll get to show you I want something different this time. I would never allow any girls to my place, much less introduce them to Max. That's like a point of no return because if I push you away, I'll never hear the end of it.”
Your eyes are fixed on his, and as much as you try, you can't look away. “Let's get in, please. People are staring.”
“Let them stare, I couldn't care less.” Billy bends down a little, closing the final distance between you and placing a kiss on your cheek. “I meant what I said last night. I won't kiss you until you ask me to.” That said, he steps back, gesturing for you to move.
Taking a deep breath, you enter the pool, drinking what's left of the soda. You make your way straight to the locker room, changing and applying the sunblock before shoving everything in your locker.
“Hey.” You're about to go out when someone calls. Turning on your heels, you see that girl Jennifer with her friend. “(Y/N), right?”
“Yes. Do you need anything?”
“No. We're just curious.” They come closer, arms crossed. “We couldn't help but notice Billy is still hanging out with you and we need to know what you're doing so right.” The girl says, and Jennifer nods.
“What do you mean?”
“C'mon, we're not stiffs. What's your trick?” Jennifer flashes you a dirty smile, and you can't wait to get the hell out of here. “What do you do that he likes so much?”
“Nothing. I don't do anything.” You simply say, shrugging your shoulders.
“Nothing? Like... How the hell–”
“Yup. Nothing.” Waving at them, you decide not to let them say anything else, leaving the locker. Billy comes out of the boy's locker at the same time you do, a curious expression on his face. “Did you... Did you hear that?”
“Couldn't help it.” He admits. “Are you ok?”
As you nod, the girls come out, walking away. “Don't worry about me. I can deal with some mean girls if I have to. And they're just jealous that it's my turn with you.” That's how they speak of it. Every girl has her turn with Billy, and when it's over, they have no choice but to back off and watch as he picks someone else.
“Yeah. But it's the last swift.” He steps closer, a hand caressing your cheek. “You're the last one.”
“Don't say stuff like that, Billy.”
“Alright, alright.” Monica's voice startles you, and you bite your lip because you're just a little mad she broke the moment. “You two are late and I've been the only one watching three pools. Get to your posts.”
Billy rolls his eyes, winking at you as he walks away.
“Mind to tell me what happened? I saw him kissing you.” Monica speaks low as you make your way to the chairs.
“On the cheek, Mon.”
“I don't care, I know something is going on.”
Yeah, there's a lot going on. “We need to talk, Mon. I'm losing my damn mind.” You say with a smile.
“You're falling for him, aren't you?”
“I really think so.”
