helo lingers by the threshold of the room, rough pads of his fingertips brushing against the cool metal of the door within the wreckage of alpha station that has been revealed since they escaped mount weather with just the skin on their teeth. there's a jut in his jaw, muscles flexing beneath grinding teeth as helo weights the idea of having to stay for the night, expression seldom and plagued by guilt. stefan doesn't realize that out of all the screams that echoes around in helo's skull, his is the loudest. the one that ripples with pain, and rides of the coattails of a cry. the scream that not even the pressure of his own palms against ears can drown it out.

but there's temptation that curls about his bones as he sinks back inside of the room, and hears the deafening sound of the door settling back into place against the lock within the quiet room, laced with a bittersweet tension that only they know the whispers of. helo takes in a sharp breath, heart feeling as though it has lurched to his throat, as he sinks in further and finds the edge of the cot against his knees. "you sure?" helo murmurs lowly, cautious and making sure that this is something that stefan wants.

night time is usually whenever helo is able to salvage whatever scraps of peace that he can find; every bodies are usually tucked away in bed, the heat of the sun no longer beat down on his skin, and he can have the training room all to himself. he spent several hours beating against a makeshift punching bag, as a desperate attempt to quell the screams that echoes inside of his skull. when he finally realize that he needs to rest, he starts to make his way down one of the halls inside of the wreckage of arkadia, and stumbles upon @stellarstolen. "couldn't sleep?"
