I still don't get what the fuss and absolutely distain was about Sootbur/'Sootcest'.

It's shipping characters, most aren't from the same series. There's quite literally dozens of purely fictional and even discontinued characters.

To my knowledge it doesn't go against Wilbur's boundaries. He stated he didn't like to be sexualized with his friends.

But the uproar over rpf between him and his friends doesn't exist.

Hell, on multiple occasions Wilbur himself has even joked about his own characters being hot or kissing or what have you.

And I expect Twitter to be all uppity about it. They don't even like when canon relationships happen.

But Tumblr, really? Home of shipping the Onceler together, of shipping numerous AUs of Sans together.

Hell, you know what is damn near the same? Shipping the Markiplier egos together, or the Jacksepticeye egos together. Or to he entire basis for shipping in the Sanders Sides fandom.

Those are all okay, but Sootbur isn't. I remember people who even joked about Sootbur a year ago were threatened and scared off the platform entirely. People were loud about thinking people who enjoyed this were disgusting or immoral people, but they're quiet when it comes to actual boundary breaking things such as RPF or shipping people together who explicitly stated they didn't want to be shipped (the minors when they were minors, people who heavily dislike being shipped with their friends (in character of rpf)) outcry for that very minimally exists.

And you know what yeah there's weirdos who like the ship but genuinely that is no different from any other ship in this fandom or another.

It doesn't affect people negatively, to my knowledge doesn't go against any boundaries, and most of the bursonas are completely different characters and people.

I still don't get the distain for it when there are much worse, actually problematic, actually boundary breaking ships that people look the other way for.

If you don't like it just block the tags. The only way people find content for this ship is under the Sootbur or Sootcest tag, trust me I've looked elsewhere, that's where it all is, block and filter it, just like you do for any other thing you don't like. It's not hard.

It's really far, far from the weirdest or worst thing people do within this fandom and the people who partake in the niche rarepair don't deserve to have nowhere to enjoy their content.
