oh gtrt! that’s a collab au with @esmeraldablazingsky! uhh the rough plot is that wwx survives the siege of the burial mounds, only to be taken prisoner by the jin and forced to assist in their (and later also xue yang’s) experiments in demonic cultivation. 13 years later, mo xuanyu breaks wei wuxian and wen ning out of prison with the intention of using them to take revenge on his family. however, they quickly discover the demonic severed arm of nie mingjue and embark on an investigation thereof (the titular roadtrip)

Wen Ning was currently engaged with the four guards, dodging strikes with astounding speed and hitting back twice as hard. He slammed the chain wrapped around his right hand into one of them, sending him smashing into the wall, and then turned fast as lightning to intercept the combined strikes of two more, knocking one of them back six or so feet, and sending the other to fall on top of him in quick succession.

The one who had slammed into the wall picked himself up and charged with a cry, driving his sword into the fierce corpse’s sternum. Wen Ning didn’t flinch, but drove his fist clean through the guard’s throat, his scream dying on his lips as his vocal chords ripped apart. He pulled the sword out of his chest and threw it to the ground along with its owner, and let out another cry.

Mo Xuanyu took the opportunity to run.
