if its not to much, do you have anything on Team Fauna?
We know of them, but haven’t had any direct encounters with them. Braviary intends on keeping an eye on any sightings, especially if anything comes up in Unova.
If you came for anything recent, I’m afraid most of what we know on them is from what was published by Lotus in the following article:

New SH stan anon. So lemme get this straight, they can trend hts for gd at chanel, taeyang at fendi, taeyang's charity event, they can even spontaneously trend an ht for gd for no reason at all. But the first time we see Daesung in MONTHS and he's looking like the hottest broody cop in a kdrama (not my words) and suddenly it's "what's an ht I don't know her"? They even managed to give over 1k notes to that damn naver comment section. But co-ordinating for him positively is too much effort? (1/2)
This is why I don’t fuck with fandoms. I was thinking of getting into the vip fandom fully but I can’t stand this sort of bias in band fandoms so I will just appreciate from afar. Though this does somewhat solve the mystery of why Dae stans are often OT5. I’m not surprised they stick together for the maknae line if this isthe treatment Dae gets from hyung line stans. Anyway, where he’s allowed to go solo the gp adores him and that speaks of his power. I’m off to drool over those pics again (2/2)
Don’t forget about Seungri stans. To hell with that maknae line solidarity shit. Not too long ago Seungri stans, with the help of OT5 fans, managed to trend the hashtag #apologizetoseungri the day court documents were revealed confirming that Seungri was in fact in one of those molka chats with JJY and friends (this came after months of his defenders screaming at me in my inbox about how it “wasn’t Seungri in that chat!” Haven’t heard a peep from them since then). But because it was “just one chat” these idiot IVIPs with their hive mind heads screwed on backwards mistakenly thought that demanding the world offer him an apology was an appropriate thing to do, and to the embarrassment of us all, they got the job done. Loyal Dae stans, compelled by Seungri stans to stick together, helped make it happen.
But when after 5 months of investigation into his controversial building Daesung’s case was dropped – completely cleared, “no evidence to support the suspicions,” not charged, not even named a suspect by the time the case was closed – those same fans with their trending power and large-scale organizational ability were nowhere to be found. Dae stans on Twitter tried to trend the tag #daesungdaebak in celebration, but without support from the rest of the fandom, their efforts fizzled out and died. Where did those masses of misguided fans go? Where was that same effort for Daesung when he was vindicated? What happened to maknae line? I’m not gonna sit here and rag on hyung line stans, but Seungri stans are fair game now. It’s about time people realize that they are not here to return the favor. They never gave a damn about Daesung, only about what his stans could do for them. They are selfishly utilizing stans of other members to do their dirty work. Sadly, Dae stans most of all, in part because of Daesung’s building scandal. They took advantage of it and used it to rope vulnerable Dae stans back in.
(Which raises the question: are they happy he was cleared unequivocally? Are they really? Or are they bitter that the same isn’t happening for Seungri? Maybe there’s another reason why they didn’t help trend the hashtag. Because now that there’s no more uncertainty, now that police have acted in Daesung’s favor but not in Seungri’s, they can no longer hold it over the heads of Dae stans, using it to guilt trip them into supporting Seungri, calling them hypocrites with “double standards” and poisoning their minds with the claim that DaeRi and their situations are “the same”. It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But I speak from experience. These are the anon asks I received throughout his building controversy. Some I replied to publicly, rejecting them openly, others I simply deleted.)
“This does somewhat solve the mystery of why Dae stans are often OT5.” Yes, “maknae line” has something to do with it, but the bit I wrote above is another piece of the puzzle. In short, Dae stans are OT5 because most of them are too kind for their own good and gullible. But hey, the two go hand-in-hand, don’t they? I have a more detailed post about this sitting in drafts. Been there for two weeks, long enough that I was nearly ready to let it go… but now that the matter is being brought up again, who knows? Might finish it up after all.
Anyway, the good news is Daesung has never expressed frustration over this… treatment. For this reason I rarely find myself wondering if he feels slighted. I just don’t see the point of worrying about an issue he himself has never raised. Unlike a certain someone who is no longer with us, Daesung never fusses about it, never complains. As far as I can tell, he always comes off as abundantly grateful for the love he receives, and so gracious in the way he receives it – and I admire him all the more for it. Taking our cues from him, if he doesn’t seem unhappy, why should we be? He’s done so well for himself, no matter what vile and hateful things people might say about him. The tremendous success of his solo career speaks for itself (or as you said, “speaks of his power” – love that). Bias in the fandom does exist, yes, but I really try not to let myself get too bothered by it because he’s done just fine in spite of it. More than fine.
I know you said you’re a SH stan, but all I’ll say is as a Dae stan, you get used to it. Loving him in a vacuum of sorts, relatively calm compared to fans of the other members but steadfast in your affection, almost stubbornly so. Not unlike Daesung himself with his quiet strength and humble determination. Also, at least in the English-speaking side of the fandom, we’re a small, at times insular bunch. Now even smaller after the fandom split. Fact is, even if we felt the need, we just don’t have the manpower to move the masses by ourselves. Thankfully though, we stan a man who doesn’t seem to require that kind of constant attention to keep going, as seen in the way he disappears when he isn’t actively working. But he always comes back. He’s dependable like that (D'pendable… sorry, couldn’t resist). I think as long as we’re there for him when it really matters, ready to receive him when he has official schedules again, ready to meet him when he’s ready to meet us… it’s enough.

take, cut, spread, done.
there are a few things that do not matter, and then there are the bagels offered on school nights in the dining hall of whitman. community hall, rumored to be both named after the "ebay community" and tall as hell due to no money for a second floor, is often host to a few scholarly groups spread throughout the whole space. i always feel a little bit bad entering, any entrance has massive doors that slam shut and likely serve as a mild disturbance not only to my general passive gait but to the conversations, focus of other in the space. a community hall indeed, though there have been a few late nights where i've been there entirely alone. my first Dean's Date stands out in memory, where between 3:20 and 4 am i took a study break to sing a bit of Simon and Garfunkel. but back to breakfast. i don't remember when i was made first aware of it, perhaps a recommendation from an rca or a discovery after an event in the hall that night, but much like murray dodge cafe or computer clusters, the pseudo-continental breakfast spread is a necessary aspect of my understanding of how this campus exists. whether it be terrible coffee, fruit, or foam bowls of cap'n crunch, the offerings on the counter provided a kind of disoriented comfort, giving you some sense of standing in a necessarily transitory space. but the offerings of bagels, made somewhat fresh in the morning now stale at the day's end, and peanut butter, a local/organic chunky variety, facilitated the most familiar, filling experience for me on those late nights. my go-to after a later wake-up before high school was an untoasted lander's and jif, which was more than satisfactory, but this ~fancy~ upgrade to an assonine thing could be symbolic of many things. bagel, spread peanut butter, a crack of salt and pepper if you're feeling fancy. same formula, different ingredients. ~ medium fine grind, 30 grams coffee, 500 grams near-boiling water. wet the filter with hot water before the grind goes in, then blooming with 70 grams of water, aggressively swirling before letting sit for 30 seconds. aggressive pour to close to the top of the v60, then slow the rate to the same pace at which coffee drains into the decanter. after reaching 500 grams of water, stop, let it drop a little bit before lightly swirling once, then again after the water drips lower with a bit more force. let drip until it ends. discard filter and grounds. if feeling fancy, pour coffee between decanter and a large container to cool a bit quicker if you're impatient. swirl decanter before pouring your drink. sip first, then down it. often, this has been the extent of my breakfast, which my stomach certainly files its own concerns about, dear reader. i recently reconsidered the peanut butter bagel, what used to be a late night snack, a journey to the dining hall with my roommates amid school work, to put it back in the breakfast rotation; an investment i make the night prior when picking up to sustain a tolerable existence the next day. two days i have a nine am lecture, and the prospect of a hot coffee and a bagel less than 3 feet from my room has been quite the pull factor in getting me to class (albeit, an average of 3 minutes late). i am flung this point; perhaps if a theme of this writing is the attempt to process my pandemic experiences, then it occurs to me that this was my most consistent morning breakfast: - being sent home meant a return to landers and a new use of the Mr. Coffee once reserved primarily for visiting relatives whose caffeine needs were supplemented by things other than diet coke - first fall arrangements meant bagels less frequently, but still peanut butter toast and a decently sized pot of melitta. - campus spring was mason jar tea-like improv and first venturings v60 and, whenever i was up early enough for breakfast (more than occasionally) but didn't feel like scrambled tofu, pre-packaged bagel and not-one-but-two individual peanut butter packets. recipe becomes routine, routine becomes ritual, ritual becomes recipe. ~ "10-20-40" is the third track off of Rina Sawayama's debut
extended play, Rina, released on 27 October 2017. Written by Sawayama and produced by Clarence Clarity, the lyrics offer an insight into Sawayama's experiences with depression and taking SSRIs, delivered through car-related metaphors.
... In an interview with Hannah J Davies for The Guardian in January 2018, Sawayama explained: "The metaphor is about teetering on the edge, but also the romance of driving, and the romance of taking Citalopram or being depressed in the media, when actually it's so mundane. It's a daily chore." (x) ~ being that my room is 3 feet from a kitchen, my room is generally subject to the various sensations that emerge from that space, though seldom emerging from my own efforts. despite my independent status and residence in a spelman room, i rarely use the stove top and have not once taken advantage of the oven. always indulging in the smell of food, i do also sometimes allow myself to be treated to the generous leftovers of my roommates' endeavors. overall, though, my plan for meals (not to be confused with the official designation of 'Meal Plan') has been entirely inconsistent. it will be leftovers one dinner, the tail-end of a happenstance free food event the next, Two Extra Meals, dinner with a work shift, Nassau St. fare, and who knows what else. i am wondering on what it means to be in an eating club. the start of this year has seen even starker lines of experiential division; where guest meal policies have normally allowed people to take options with relative ease, both university dining and club policies started as very exclusive to people beyond their plans, meaning that your meals are at a single institution, and that's it! the option exists, of course, to eat elsewhere, but this requires expenditures in addition to the 9-10k that you (by extension of your parents) dropped on the club, and it seems like the calculus of each meal not consumed would loom. the arrangement seems so suffocating! there are aspects of these particular institutions that i think are questionable (beyond just bicker, mind you), but i think i'm also coming to terms with the fact that a large part of my disdain for these institutions comes from the fact that it is just... not my preferred experience. what to me is thinking of cost-per-meal and the constriction of the same people is to others a more secure place, a sense of stability when other aspects of their social alignments and experiences shift. i have never felt particular excited to get a meal within the Great and Mighty Brunch Mansions, but people do. frequently whether i would feel differently if my context was such that i (by extension of my family) could securely afford such an experience, and what social development prior to that would imply, but for now i think i am tired of worrying about things beyond myself and my control. after all, ain't i the hypocrite in saying this but joining a co-op? besides a lower price tag and greater labor invested into the experience, it is structurally comparable from an organizational standpoint ( 1. clubs composed of students 2. where they [could] source most of their meals and 3. eat with other students). but it is the cultural distinctions of these arrangements that matters most. i don't think i'm experienced enough with either arrangement at present to discuss those distinctions with confidence yet, and i trust that anyone with enough familiarity to recognize what i am referring has their own understanding of it developed, in any case. nothing original to contribute yet, though i feel motivated to get ahead for the classes whose (self)placement in these institutions looms.
~ so that's it, i believe. i am supposed to have a routine right now, and in practice i do in the minds of others; i go to my scheduled classes, i attend these meetings, i hang out with others. not a uniform schedule, but a consistent set of behaviors that makes me, to others as a social entity, a ritualistic person. in the place between body and mind, i feel the grand variance of my own perception, as colored by my emotional state (to put it melodramatically). the narrative of my life to me is a pathway, and the presence of my life to others is a point of checking in. my routine is only fueled by a desire/need/compulsion to continue changing, and it is only when those changes alter my social routine that those beyond myself can note it. i suspect that someday, perhaps even tomorrow, i will disagree with that, but i feel confident in saying this: i will never get tired of a peanut butter bagel, even as the seasonings change.

MBA Internship at Nationwide (Blog#7)
Tumblr media
I did some quick maths to find that I was paying around $650/month for my shared accommodation in Gradplex. The problem was that you must vacate Gradplex during summer months unless you pay extra. I decided to move out of Gradplex. One of 2nd year student graduating in summer of 2014 sold me all her furniture for $100! Yup, bed, mattress, study table, chair, lamps everything for $100. I gladly bought it. One of my classmate who is also a Major General James Wright Fellow student had a pickup truck and helped me move. My new accommodation was a single room in a two bedroom townhouse. $450/month all-inclusive including WiFi, Washer – Dryer in-house etc. What I loved about my new accommodation other than the cheapest tag available was the location. The Indian restaurant – Nawab was a stone’s throw away, Movie Tavern and Subway was 7 mins walk, Food Lion for grocery was across the road and so was School of Education. Green line, Red Line, Blue Line all served the location. Moreover, the Gym was nice 10 mins walk through the woods, and walking to business school was 25 mins through the campus.
I dumped my furniture in my room. Search for a cheap accommodation in Columbus, OH on Craiglist. I found Indian PhD students at Ohio State University subleasing for summer in University Village. I took that deal. Flight was booked to Columbus from Richmond, VA. Vina dropped me to Richmond airport, and I welcome this phase of my life with open arms.
Day 1 at Nationwide Insurance was exciting! Several hundred interns – all suited up ready to hit the ground running. You can tell us apart, suit and tie in the city bus. After the HR orientation at Nationwide One Downtown I met my manager Chris P. He took Ameya Joshi – who was doing his MBA from University of Illinois and Urbana Campaign (UIUC), and I to lunch. Chris told us more about what his team and what’s our role going to be.
We were in IT Portfolio Management that oversaw Infrastructure and Operations. First week was fun, getting to know everyone in the team, attending conference calls and doing whatever is asked.
I enjoyed my time in Columbus. Coming from a small college town I felt that Columbus was a nice upgrade. I would go to Rib and Jazz festival one weekend, science center the next.  Columbus Zoo in Dublin became my favorite destination. I ended up going there 2-3 times during my internship. I was also able to fulfill my dream of watching live WWE. I would have gone bonkers 10 years ago when I was in high school, but now I was 30 and hadn’t followed wrestling for many years. Still it was a great realization. Sports was plenty in Columbus. We went to a minor league baseball game and since Soccer world cup 2014 was ongoing, we watched it during lunch time at bars or later in the evening.
The first month at Nationwide went smoothly. $23/hour pay was very uplifting. I wish I could buy a used car! But that money allowed me to get a Car2Go membership and drive around in their tiny two seater Smart car. Two weeks into my internship there was a workout day where all the colleagues volunteered to take the army fitness test. 35 push ups, 50 crunches and a 2 mile run in 18 mins. I had focused on studies all my life and not getting my body into any shape except round. I knew I would fail miserably but I participated nonetheless, I wanted to try new things. My colleagues liked that spirit a lot.
Pro-tip: Always participate in everything during internship. Someone is always observing you.
In the second month, I asked Chris P. about any plans to absorb interns into full-time roles. I found management communications and organizational behavior courses in MOD1 very useful as I tried to put them in use. I came up with my own personal development plan for the next two months and shared that with Chris. He liked it and tried giving me relevant tasks. As an intern I didn’t shy away from any work, be it data entry into a project management software or filling in for someone in a meeting.
I learned about few Indian interns in the Service Delivery department who were offered full time roles in Project Management. I thought I would be a great fit as I already have experience leading projects and I am a certified PMP. I networked with many in senior management including people at director and VP level. I was told that inter department absorption of interns tends to get political.  I tried to get above the political bias and networked with several VPs of various departments. I thought that “Senior Managers and Directors could be bound by the political correctness but if a VP vouches my case, surely, I’ll get hired”
Not so!! Many interns had considerably less experience and no professional certificate in project management yet had a PMO job offer at hand and I did not. I cursed my stars for not being in Service Delivery. Maybe I was too old for job, or just not attractive enough as a candidate. Whatever maybe the reasons, the fact remained – I did not have a full time offer.
I decided to go again to the National Black MBA and the National Hispanic MBA conferences and registered for them. During my last days in the third month at Nationwide I spoke to HR and they explained difficulties in hiring Indian workers in Project Management. Getting a full time job, and sponsoring H1B visa was the easy part. Tougher task was sponsoring the Green Card. The federal inspector would contest that any PMO role is generic and not specialty occupation and the GC application rejected. I learned a great deal about sponsoring international candidates and difficulties in getting a GC for Indians and Chinese.
Now I had only one goal in mind – Get a full time job offer. I was trying everything. Applying online, finding W&M alumni to network, finding people over LinkedIn and introduce myself. I needed a break. I decided to fly back to India for 10 days I had between my end of internship and starting of 2nd year MBA classes. I finally got some time to spend with my family.
